Whisperpaw gasped. "Wickfire! Calm down! Don't worry, it's all right!" she couldn't keep the panic out of her voice. Where was Jasper? "Jaaaaasper!" the apprentice called as loud as she could.

Whisperpaw gulped and nodded. The apprentice walked up to Wickfire and firmly placed her paws on his thigh. "Stay calm Wickfire. Don't worry," she reassured, panic in her voice.
-
Whisperpaw cringed.
-
Whisperpaw's nose twitched, but she refused to leave Wickfire's side and followed them into the den, fascinated and horrified by all the blood.
-
"Stay here!" Whisperpaw pleaded, her voice frightened and kit-like. "Please! We need a strong warrior in here.... pleas stay!"
-
"Thank you." Whisperpaw whispered with a big, grateful smile.
-
Ooc; lol xD
Ic; Although Jasper hadn't been talking to her, Whisperpaw nodded as well and lay down beside Wickfire. The sight of the blood made her feel sick, yet she did not budge, scared that the injured warrior might somehow die if she left his side.
-
Whisperpaw looked up at the deputy and gulped. "I... don't know. I hope so." she mewed, a slight tremor in her voice. She would hate to see a cat die.
-
Whisperpaw smiled gratefully at the deputy, then turned her head to gaze at Jasper. "Will he survive?" she asked quickly. She couldn't bear not knowing.
-
Whisperpaw's eyes widened and she gasped, but then she resigned herself to waiting and accepted the Medicine Cat's prediction without a word.
-
Ooc; @Miaow- sure! =D
Ic; Whisperpaw narrowed her eyes at her mother as the leader walked away, then walked back to the Medicine Den with an annoyed sigh. These days, the only fact of seeing her mother made her feel sick.
Ooc; Oh and Faded: is Wickfire dead? I saw in a post that he stopped breathing, but I don't want to do anything without making doubly sure first.
-
Ooc; @Faded- all right, that's good. =D
Ic; Whisperpaw's eyes widened as the rats streamed into camp, yellow eyes glinting evilly. I can't fight! was the first, wild thought that flashed in her mind, soon to be followed by many others, all confused and jumbled up, Wickfire... The Medicine Den! The nursery, the herbs! We can't let the rats get them. And what with Fallenskies? blinking to clear her vision, eyeing the rats in case they came closer, the apprentice yowled the first thing that came to her mind, "Protect the elders!", and dashed into the Medicine Den, vaguely aware that Wickfire would die if even one rat managed to get to him.
-
"But-" Whisperpaw bit back a cry of protest. This was not a time for buts.
Shaking her head in confusion, the apprentice cast a last glance at Wickfire, hoping someone would come to protect him, and ran out of the Medicine Den, reciting the list of herbs in her head. Poppy seeds, marigold, catmint, tansy...
She jumped as she tiny, sharp teeth fastened on her tail, but luckily the rat was small enough for her to be able to shake it off. Whirling around, she slashed at it, claws unsheathed, and shuddered as it fell to the side and lay still, eyes glazed. Waves of sickness crashed over her, and she quickly turned back towards the entrance to camp and ran out into the forest, ears laid back against her head in an attempt to blot out the screams. -
Whisperpaw had somehow managed to get out of the clearing to get herbs, but now she halted and pricked her ears. Meet me at the northern border. Why? Couldn't they fight anymore?
Whisperpaw nodded at herself, accepting her mother's decision, and started running towards the far end of the territory when a thought came to her. Where is Battlepaw? -
"Jasper!" Whisperpaw yowled in shock as she saw the Medicine Cat run out of camp, she skidded to a halt, managing to avoid the hoard of furious creatures, and scrabbled up the tree next to him. "Look, I had an idea." she blurted out, glancing down nervously. They had to hurry up if her plan was to work. "There is a small but tall tree near the entrance, the one that leans into camp, that's only partly cut off by the rats. Its roots are loose. If we managed to dig most of them up, and cut them, and pushed the tree down, it would create a bridge. The Clan could safely use it to exit camp before the rats even managed to climb on it, if we managed to stop the rats from climbing it."
-
Whisperpaw nodded eagerly. "I just knew you'd agree!" she lied.
The leaning tree was very close to the one they were sitting on, and the apprentice managed to leap over the distance easily. She clung to the trunk, then looked back at Jasper and dropped down. The rats were on the other side and didn't notice her. "Come on!" she called to Jasper, starting to dig up the smaller roots. -
Whisperpaw clawed frantically at the roots, ears laid back against her head to blot out the sound of screams.
-
Whisperpaw stood on the tree bridge, gripping the soft bark with her tiny claws and gazing anxiously at the cats that were trying to cross. "Hurry up!" she hissed under her breath, green eyes darting to the screeching rats and back to her Clanmates.
-
The apprentice cast a quick glance at Jasper, then leaped onto the tree bridge and stood there, claws gripping the bark. "I'll join you later!" she called. She wanted to check that everyone was safe before leaving.
-
"I can't fight!" Whisperpaw wailed back, her legs starting to tremble.
