"Tigerpath, I don't know what's going through your head right now. Maybe you hate me, or maybe you hate both of us for staying in FireClan. Fine. Feel what you want. I won't try to stop you. But just keep in mind what you're saying. 'Traitor' is a word that suggests betrayal. And, the way you see it, I must be betraying ThunderClan by living here. But, in my eyes, it's not that simple. I left my mother and siblings dead on a curb as a newborn kit. I left my best friends so I could join ThunderClan. Now, I partly regret my decisions, because losing these cats has led me to love my friends and family with my life. Leaving them, as I left them so many times before, is the worst betrayal I could commit."

"Yes, there's betrayal of the warrior code. Yes, there's betrayal of my home. But, honestly, would any ThunderClanner I don't know, all of which are back there, care at all about me leaving or staying? No. Maybe they'd whisper about it, or gossip, but would anyone actually think to themselves, "I'll miss that Hushcloud."? No. I'm not betraying any individual there, if you think about it."

"Everyone worth staying with is right here. So why leave them?"

Hushcloud twisted away, but he felt teeth sink into the back of his neck. He kept his claws sheathed, though, and wrenched from his grip, blood trickling from the bite. "I'm not going to fight you, Tigerpath."

Forestpaw sighed nonchalantly, his gray tabby fur tossing in the wind. Yellow eyes burned into the ThunderClan camp as he glanced around. It seemed that everyone had a mate or was whining for one. He didn't understand the fun stitched into swooning over a cat for the rest of one's life. He just wanted to hurry up with apprenticeship and be a warrior.

Yawning and stretching, Forestpaw stood up slowly.
