He had done so absentmindedly, for he more often than not bought his friends the trolley treats with his own money. He decided that she should just keep her money since a few jelly slugs wouldn't make a dent in his wallet. Besides, the girl had been kind to him the whole train ride which is more than he could ask for with his barging in and sharing a compartment with her.
