Erik grinned. The challenge against his pride was something not many wanted to do due to his age but with Elliot he was more than willing to take the challenge. “My pride is what has allowed me to be who I am. But if you have a problem with that I’m sure I can convince you otherwise.”

Erik winked as he put his arm around Elliot’s waist and pulled him closer. His hand moved down his neck and he rubbed his thumb gently over the pulse in Elliot’s neck.

“I can promise you that you will enjoy my ability convince you. And maybe I could persuade you into being more open minded but I’ll be kind and take this one step at a time just for you.”

The blush appeared on Erik’s face was first. The male had never blushed before and Elliot’s actions were the cause. He wasn’t used to them being this close, let alone Elliot was laughing for the first time in since maybe before the First World War? Who knew?

Erik wasn’t sure what to make of it. He knew they needed to go somewhere else but his focus was solely on the male pressed up against him. He couldn’t really think but as Elliot’s question banged around his brain he tried to focus and asked, “Do you have a safe place where we can go? I-I don’t really have anywhere right now. I just arrived.”

The stutter was definitely new and it made him blush even brighter. He had never imagined this would happen and he hadn’t even gotten a place to stay at while he was here. He had literally hidden away in the basement of a house that was currently unoccupied. It wasn’t a permanent location and a part of him hoped Elliot had his own space here in the city.

Rose lifted her head and reached down for her keys. Grabbing them she put them in the ignition and drive away. Her family would think she was just going home and she was but she was going to stop and get something at a store first. Since she had no real way to talk to Darmius maybe, just maybe, a burner phone would do the trick. It would save a lot of trouble.

As she drove she wondered if anyone was there at her parents home currently. If nobody was there then she could definitely begin to search for answers herself.

Erik followed the male to the cabin and was glad he was being led. He felt out of it in a sense. He frowned when he realized Elliot had something on his wrist. He looked and wondered what exactly it was.

He looked at the cabin and couldn’t help but smile, “You know I never would’ve thought you would actually live in a cabin when I first met you. I’m glad to see that changed.”

He reached forward with his free hand and ran his finger gently through Elliot’s windblown hair. Erik’s hair was slightly shorter but it even was victim to the wind. His eyes were watchful of the area around them while also being focused on the male in front of him.

(Understandable. Since I use my phone I just keep tabs open.)

Aurora was surprised and her hands went to her mouth in shock. When Kamba got hit with the mace and stumbled she had feared for him. She didn’t want the man to die like this. It was wrong of her to have those fears considering Kamba was a slave to her father but she couldn’t help it.

She didn’t want Kamba to get hurt, much less die. She was grateful and sent up a prayer of thanks to the Gods that he survived the fight. She noted his wound was bleeding quite a bit and worried about him. She wasn’t allowed to say anything and would unfortunately have to wait until after the fights were over to go and make sure his wounds here okay.

Aurora nodded as she stood, grateful her father was letting her go, “Of course father. I shall return momentarily.”

She turned and walked off to where Kamba would be. Seeing the little building had her wonder if Kamba was already inside. Didn’t matter she supposed as she walked up to the entrance. She heard water and stepped inside warily, not wishing to disturb anyone.

She froze as her eyes locked on the lone figure inside beside one of the basins. Kamba was naked and cleaning himself. She watched his muscles move underneath his skin as he worked silently and her eyes began to rove before she could consciously stop them.

This was her first time seeing any man, especially Kamba, naked. The arena fights always had some sort of decency while she was there because her father wanted to keep her as pure as possible.

Rose bought the burner phones and sped to her parents home. She parked and, after not seeing any vehicles, got out and unlocked the front door before going inside. She didn’t bother locking the door behind her and instead ran to her parents study. It was shared by the pair so she was bound to find something.

She sat in the huge desk chair and began going through everything. She found nothing about the war and couldn’t help but bang her hands on the desk. She felt something brush her leg and frowned. She looked around wondering if anyone was coming home. Hearing nothing she reached underneath and felt a file.

She pulled it off the bottom of the desk and was surprised at how thick it was. The most notable thing was that it had Darmius’s family name on it. She wanted to leave with the file to better go through it but she wasn’t sure if her parents would notice the file gone. Cursing she decided to open the file and just read it. Couldn’t hurt right?

Rose began reading the file with shock and horror. She couldn’t believe Darmius’s family had done such horrible things. Admittedly her own family had done the same but from what she could see his family had started it. The reason why she didn’t know but what scared her was the listings of who lived and who was killed.

Darmius’s name popped up and she saw notes about him and even a picture of him. She frowned when she read a blank line stating cause of death. The line beneath had her cousin’s name for who did the killing. Unable to help herself she tried to find a reason why and saw a hand scribbled note about him targeting one of the women in the family to murder.

“What! No. That’s not possible. He wouldn’t-this can’t be true. This can’t be true.” Rose was in a state of shock and couldn’t tell if she wanted to cry, rage, or scream.

Aurora blushed brighter and averted her eyes shyly. She couldn’t help but give the male some sort of respect as she replied softly, “I am sorry to have disturbed you. I only came to ensure your wounds would be tended properly. If you do not wish me to be here I shall go.”

She began to fiddle with her clothing simply to distract herself from the lovely sound of his voice. She always liked it and wished he would speak more. She also had to distract herself from the image of his naked form. Yes he had a towel around his waist and technically nudity wasn’t a big deal but her father wanted her extremely pure for whomever he decided to marry her off to.

Rose shakily stood, not willing to believe this. It was insane. He wouldn’t do that. No Darmius cared for her. She left the office slowly. She went downstairs a little faster and when she hit the landing she was fast walking outside to the front door.

She burst outside and left the door wide open as she ran to her Escalade and dove into the front seat. Starting the vehicle on the first try was a blessing. Rose drove quickly to the house she was actually living in by herself.

It had taken her month to convince her parents that she would be fine on her own and they had caved. However after a security concern they kept her locked in her parents house until they felt it was safer. She parked her vehicle before running to the front door and unlocking it. She shut and locked the door before running upstairs to grab a back she kept packed just in case she did finally decide to run away.

She ran into her room and towards the closet. She pulled the bag out and then grabbed a backpack. She pulled stacks of cash from underneath her mattress and stuffed them into the backpack.

With everything packed Rose went downstairs and out the backdoor. She had a spare vehicle, a Jeep her family wasn’t aware of, in the forest so all she had to do was make the five mile hike to the thing before her family figured out she was running away. She her main bag on her back and her backpack strapped to the larger bag. She took off into the forest and prayed nobody, not even Darmius’s family, found her. She would’ve shifted except her items wouldn’t be carry-able.

Cursing herself for not being better prepared for this situation she wondered how far she could run before they realized she was gone. She had the burner phones on her but not the one her family insisted she keep. Her family loved tracking her and while she understood why now it still hurt.

Rose cursed herself mentally for parking what seemed like across the country. She should’ve had everything in the Jeep but no she just had to be optimistic and not pregame. She shook her head and pulling the key fob out of her pocket she began hitting the clicker. If she could hear the Jeep she was good to go.

Looking around as she clicked she wondered where exactly she had parked it. If she had shifted it wouldn’t be an issue to find it but in her human form it was way harder. She muttered curses to herself as she began roving in the last area she remember clicking on the key fob.

Rose finally heard the beeping and, with a renewed sense of energy, she ran until she saw the Jeep. She slowed down as she saw someone standing beside it and hesitated. She set her bags down gently and quietly before stalking around the Jeep. She hoped she could easily scare the person off without putting in too much effort.

Just as she came around she caught a familiar scent that made her feel many conflicting emotions. She stayed in the shadows and looked for signs of ill intent but found none. She stepped forward warily, “Darmius?”

    Private with marcola

So do you want to start or shall I?

Aurora looked up at him in shock. She didn’t expect him to guess that just from her actions. And despite the fact her actions were more then enough she felt the need to explain herself. “My father wants me as pure as possible. He believes it would be beneficial, especially since he is being very careful yet stubborn.”

She looked at the wound on his shoulder and after taking a small breath she walked towards the bench where he sat and winced as she regarded the wound. “This must hurt terribly.”

A decent size tavern sat peacefully along a road a mile from the nearest town. It was cozy looking but it’s was also anonymous. Inside was cozy but people milled around. Some travelers, others looking for help, and a few here for hire. The conversation throughout wanted to touch on a subject that was almost forbidden to speak of.

The Queen was dead and her granddaughter, the Princess, had been exiled. The King was an uncle of some sort to the Princess but nobody was going to risk their lives to actually look into the family bonds. Despite those odd circumstances the tavern was busy and conversation was loud as ever.

Sitting at a table was a group of mercenaries. They were laughing and drinking to their hearts content while flirting with their waitress. Well all except for one of the men. He had hardly touched his drink and was watching everything within the tavern while making it look like he was more or less annoyed with the talk of those around him.

Rose couldn’t stop the trembling that suddenly overcame her. She wrapped her arms around herself as tears sprang to her eyes. She wasn’t sure what to think or say but she did have one very complicated question that absolutely bothered her. “Do you you hate me? And be honest. I think I deserve that.”

As much as she would’ve wanted to fight him she knew she wouldn’t be able to. He held her heart in his palms and her fear told her that her family was right. She didn’t want them to be right but she had to know, even if it broke her heart.

Erik looked around the interior and found it to be cozy despite the lack of furniture. He watched as the male flop down and laughed while shaking his head. “So why are you so concerned with how your hair looks? I think of one way nice way it would look. So long as you let me I am fairly confident in my ability to change your hair in a very attractive way.”

He gave Elliot a teasing smile. He could tell the male was exhausted but he wanted to see if he could more smiles and laughter from the male. As he looked at the male he noted the bracelet on Elliot’s wrist and frowned. He walked over to the male and knelt down before grabbing at the other male’s wrist.

Seeing the metal band was a surprise. The biggest surprise was the fact that it looked well cared for after all these years. He could still read the inscription that was a way to honor Odin. He looked from the metal band to Elliot’s eyes, “Where did you find this?”
