Mekai purred. "And I was worried about you." She mewed in reply. Her heart fluttered when she looked at Kreme.

"Really." Mekai purred back, happiness washing over her. "But now you're safe and I'm glad."

palepaw lay there, belly full, when frogs began to climb over her. Irritated, she shook them off and heaved herself up an oak tree, hoping to escape the amphibians.

Maplepaw gulped down the rest of the starling and sprang lightly to her paws. She trotted towards the exit of camp. "Goin' Hunting!" she called over her shoulder.

"Not if I'm better..." Maplepaw muttered under her breath as she heard Ripplekit's comment. As soon as Maplepaw got out of camp she felt slightly releived. Maplepaw broke into a run, enjoying the fresh air.

Maplepaw quickly dropped into a crouch as she spotted a shrew. She cautiously crept up on it, careful not to make any noise. Now! Maplepaw told herself. She leapt forwards but the vole was quicker. It dove into its burrow moments before her paws hit the ground. Maplepaw hissed in frustration. Too slow again! She sat down, irritated.

"Of course not, they should all bow down to you as you pass them!" Mekai mewed, amusement evident in her voice.

"Only when I'm with you," Mekai replied warmly. She paused for a moment, feeling as if she could spend an eternity where she stood with Kreme.

Mekai nodded in agreement, now that he mentioned it she was very tired. Eyes drooping, Mekai settled down in a ragged pile of moss that had been tossed around a little when she had gotton up previously. Tucking in the moss a little, Mekai managed to get it back into a neat little bed.

Mekai lay down and watched Kreme for a while, beginning to purr as she watched him rest. After a while fatigue swept over Mekai and she rested her head on her paws, glad to be safe and with the one she loved.
