"will you watch pearkit for a second?" shadowfall meowed to Dappleshine. " thanks! Wait!" she called as she caught up with Charan. " what do you mean ? " shadowfall asked Charan.

"stop Greypatch! Your being unfair to Screampaw! Ill help her! You cant treat her like crow-food! What is Screampaw was your daughter and you were her mentor? Would you treat her like this?" yelled Pearpaw, defending Screampaw. Pearpaw turned around and started helping Screampaw with the old moss.

"no." shadowfall stood her ground and didnt move. " what were you mumbling about? Something about your past!?" shadowfall said.

"Dappleshines' whatching pearkit. Come on. Lets gointo theforest so we can talk." shadowfall meowed to Charan signaling with her tail to follow.

Pearpaw lingered there for a moment longer then padded into the forest. She couldnt get Screampaw's look out of her mind.

As Pearpaw was stalking a mouse she suddenly had the idea that Screampaw was trying to tell her something else. She lost the mouse but ran into a huge clump of catmint so she grabbed some stalks of it and headed back to camp and dropped them in the med cat den and padded over to the apprentices denand curled up and went to sleep.

" im fine. I wont tell anyone. You can trust me, honestly. What happened?" meowed shadowfall tring to sound as polite as possible..

Pearpaw woke up and saw Screampaw. "look, Screampaw, im really sorry i got you in trouble but your mentor should never treat you like that!" pearpaw whispered.

"look, im sorry i brought it up. But you need to forget about it! " shadowfall mewed to Charan. " my brother, father, mother, and my mate were all killed by EvilClan. I thought i wad just going to die! But then i had Pearkit. She is the world to me. I know how you must feel: you loose everything all in the blink of an eye....." shadowfall added more quietly as the camp came in view.

"you dont deserve it!" pearpaw mewed.

"sorry!" shadowfall meowed and ran off into the camp.

"thanks Dappleshine." meowed shadowfall unenthusiasticly.

"no, Pearnose, in my den. are your kits ok? i will be joining you in the nursury!" Echostar meowed.

"its ok........ do you want to be friends?" Shadowfall meowed while watching Pearkit play with the leaf she had.

"no! i dont even have a metor and i can fight as well as Greypatch any day!" Pearpaw mewed.

"ill put Rainshine in charge. but once the kits are old enough to learn to stay out of trouble and are allowed to explore the camp, then i will try to return to a normal scedual. me too." Echostar meowed.
