The trip, though somewhat inconvenient because of the snow, was quick. Palestorm took her time so she could enjoy the nighttime scenery, and yet she found herself nearing the clearing in what seemed like only a few heartbeats (though she knew it was more). The she-cat approached the tree several times, padding toward it silently before backing off and retreating. She realized she had misgivings about keeping her newfound friends ffrom her clanmates.

Palestorm scowled, and shook her head. "I'm not breaking the warrior code," she hissed to herself. Then, taking a deep breath, she padded over to the small entrance, bent her head down to it, and called out softly, "Grimgrin, are you there?"

Palestorm stumbled away from the entrance just as the young kit shot out of the hole. "Hello!" she mewed as he pounced at her. Her whiskers twitched in amusement. "You've gotten bigger."

And it was true. Lostkit looked plumper and healthy, just as a kit should look. She nuzzled him, feeling her own purrs rising to match his. "Well, aren't you going to invite me inside?"

OOC: This may or may not be may last post for a few days as I am going out of town where there is no internet. I'll be back about Sunday evening though, so I should be on around that time.

"He sure is," she purred, flicking Lostkit's ear with her tail before following Grimgrin inside. She sat down, surveying the farmiliar space of the tree. When he inquired about her motives for visiting, Palestorm twitched her ears and replied, "I couldn't sleep. Figured you seemed like the night owl type, Grimgrin, so I decided I'd stop by and see of you were up." She began grooming a paw. "How's the prey running?"

Palestorm hadn't realized how hungry she was until she caught sight of the voles. She flashed Grimgrin a grateful look and chose a medium-sized one form the pile. She took a bite, savoring the flavor. Then the she-cat looked up and noticed something unusual in Grimgrin's face as he watched Lostkit. "Something wrong?" she mewed, with a touch of concern.

Palestorm watched the kit a moment longer, before taking another bite of the vole. An idea was slowly coming to her, though she wasn't sure how the tom would respond to it. Excitement and foreboding began pricking in her pelt and she whispered, "Maybe we could find his mother--well, maybe I could." Immediately, she felt silly suggesting it. This isn't helping! The tabby's voice began to quicken as she continued. "That is...I could and you could watch him in the meantime...but if I knew what clan, maybe...well, I know which clans are more accepting of others. Well, I know ThunderClan is. I have a friend who used to be a loner. She's a warrior now." She didn't look at Grimgrin, but instead focused on the munching kit. "I don't know if this is the kind of life you want. Just an idea. He may never regain his memories, and..." she trailed off, unsure how to continue. Her fur felt hot. "Just an idea," she repeated.

OOC: Gosh, this was the hardest post yet to write. Sorry if it's awkward. Feel free to reject.

    OOC: I know! It's fun. :D

Relieved, Palestorm nodded in agreement. Then she addressed this new question. "Fine. Kind of dull, actually. There's still some snow on the ground, and hunting's going okay. But my mouse-brained friend went looking for me out in the snow." Her whiskers twitched with amusement at the thought. "He's no fun to talk to because all he's done is sleep since he's gotten back."

She finished off her vole. "And," the cream tabby admitted, "I did have a small fever that I shook off yesterday, but it gets sort of lonely in the medicine cat's den. Our warriors are faring well, though. As are the kits."

"I wouldn't say that!" Palestorm meowed, suppressing laughter. "Of course I get tired, just like any other cat." She gave him a friendly lick between the ears.
Then she turned her gaze back to Grimgrin, eyes glimmering with amusement. "I think it's more like sulking. He hates being in the snow for very long, so I think he feels like he had to endure the 'horror' of the snow for nothing." She too had to mrrowh with laughter. "How about you two? Any trouble with clan cats or anything?"

I'm going to create advanced bios that go into everything in more detail, and I'll edit them into this post when I'm done.

"I can guess not," Palestorm purred, watching Lostkit. Then, sensing a sort of sadness emanating form her other companion, she touched her tail to his shoulder and gave him a look that she hoped would appear comforting. Briefly, she glanced at the entrance, wondering when dawn would be approaching.

OOC: Low muse, sorry 'bout that. We had play rehearsal, and I'm exhausted.

Thrush followed after Poppy as the small kit bounded forward towards the other cats at the center of camp. While Thrush could sense the somberness in the air, it was clear the calico did not. Before the red tabby could instruct her sister to stay close, Poppy spotted Moonsong and sped off towards her. The two cats were new to RefugeClan, but Poppy had gotten to know Moonsong in the nursery. “Moonsong, Moonsong!” Poppy mewed excitedly, her small tail twitching. “Are your kits going to come soon?”

The she-kit had never seen a pregnant cat, and the news that Moonsong would be bearing new playmates had made her very excited, and a little impatient. Thrush sat down close to her sister, curling her tail over her paws and allowing her blue eyes to roam over the others assembled.

Thrush nodded at Dandelionfur, before training her eyes unblinkingly on Asterstar. She dipped her head in a quiet show of sadness and respect when Hiro's death was formally announced, though she too had heard about it beforehand.

The prophecy, however, was new and it made her pelt prickle uneasily. She knew from previous clan experience that a prophecy could be bad...but could also be good. The red tabby turned her gaze to Poppy, whose eyes were now wide with the realization that the meeting was more serious than she originally perceived. Because she had left clanlife at only a moon of age, however, Thrush doubted that she could understand the importance a prophecy. When it was clear Asterstar was not finished speaking, Thrush once again gave the leader her attention. Offhandedly, she heard her sister meow, "Moonsong does that mean your kits are gonna be special?"

"Don't pester her, Poppy," Thrush mewed softly, turning towards the three cats to her left. While she did not know the queen well, the look on Moonsong's face prompted her to words. "Remember, StarClan's prophecies can be unclear. Maybe it's not you, or even a cat that is a queen yet. And if it is, well...one of your kits could change the clan for the better, right?" She looked away again, feeling embarrassed. "StarClan and time will tell."

Thrush blinked, somewhat taken aback. After an initial flare of hesitance, she obliged, padding up towards Asterstar. Her caution turned to curiosity as she drew closer. Poppy was close behind her, seemingly excited. The red tabby guided her closer to her flank with her tail, and the two cats were soon sitting in front of the tortoiseshell leader. Thrush had her head dipped respectfully, but Poppy was fidgeting slightly as she stared at Asterstar, a question in her hazel eyes.

OOC: Ha, went for the surprise approach. Hope that's alright. :)

Thrushpaw was staring off into space, but in her eyes was a distant sort of happiness. When she had tried two moons ago to return to her old clan and discovered that she couldn't find the way back, she thought she would never be apart of another clan, and had accepted this idea. Embraced it even. She had initially joined RefugeClan only for her sister's sake, but as she received her apprentice name, Thrushpaw realized how much she had missed clanlife. Naming ceremonies, hunting patrols, everything. As her clanmates cheered her name, she felt a sense of satisfaction slowly creeping up under her pelt.

Poppykit surveyed the other cats with shiny, excited eyes. She had not really known clanlife, but from the stories her sister would share with her upon request, the calico had been drawn to the idea. She'd have so many friends to play with, to talk to! Now, with her clan name bestowed upon her and a mentor named for her in the future, she truly felt the happiness that accompanied a dream fulfilled.

The she-cat nodded. "Sure." In truth, she was reluctant to leave Poppykit on her own, but she knew it was necessary. Moonsong was sure to keep her entertained, at least for a while. Thrushpaw looked at her sister, then shyly back to her new mentor. A sudden pang of sadness throbbed in her chest as she though of the life lost to RefugeClan. "Should we...?" She nodded her head over to where she knew Hiro's body lay.
