"Yes sir?" quailfur padded over to swiftstar and dipped his head

Lemonsight smiled at his sister and then at the kit. "Have you ever had kits?" he asked fawnwhisker.

"Sir... the clan... its a mess." Quailfur pleaded. "We dont have many apprentices and the only warriors here are me, you, starsong, and Crystalheart" he looked over and saw her padding into camp looking so sadly. He felt a stab of heartachefor the shecat. What did firesong do now?

Quailfur looked down and mumbled. "What do we do swiftstar? we have a disloyal medicine cat that thinks hes a warrior, we dont have enough apprentices or mentors for them." he wasnt angry just desperate. "Please Swiftstar lead us..."

"Thank you for hunting." Quailfur spoke as she walked up. BUt he didnt know what else she could do.

Lemonsight chuckled at the annoyed kit. "If you would like i could take meadowkit just outside the camp, so she can see how the forest looks out there. I wont taker her further than that though." he offered

swiftstar seemed to be at a loss for words again. Quailfur felt the weight of the clan on his shoulders once again and turned to Crystalheart. "Why dont you get some rest?" he suggested. "Im going to go look for some of our warriors... I have a feeling they may have run off with everything that happened... But i wont be long."

"You guys be careful." Quailfur insisted. "ill take care of the camp while your away..."

"Ill watch her every second." Lemonsight promised. "come on meadowkit."

"Alright now you HAVE to be well behaved ok? And we arnt going far. But ill show you a good place to catch mice." He said to her. "Its around the roots of some trees that only grow in riverclan territory."

quailfur had stayed behind to watch the camp but had a terrible feeling that he was misisng something important. He wasnt happy that he couldnt go. He had decided to go get some sleep while everyone was gone and he found himself dreaming pleasant dreams for once, about when the clan had been peaceful and no one questioned each others loyalties. He was seeing she cats in his dreams... Cherrytail and starsong and even Cyrstalheart, but no one could have told him what the dream meant. He wasnt leader or a medicine cat, he just let it go.

"Take a good long sniff." Lemonsight said. "Look around, as far as you can see... thats our territory and even more that you cant see." he told her. "We have the river as well as land dwelling prey and-- oh you know all this already." he laughed, kits new things like this. it was riverclan after all

"What do you smell?" lemonsight asked. "Can you smell the river?"

"You will get used to the smell of it the closer you are to it. But we arnt going anywhere near the river today." He remember the time he had fallen head first into the river and Dawnpelt had pulled him out when he was unconsious. He still had the faint scar above his left eye and he knew the river was no place for a kit. "Lets go see if we can find some fresh kill"

Quailfur lifted his head and looked aroudn his camp... no one was here... the medicine cat apprentice seemed to have run off along with another apprentice... There was barely a clan left.

Quailfurs ears pricked, something happened.... somewhere inside of him he knew that something was very wrong out in the forest. Striped creatures again? He didnt think it could be... He burried his head in his paws and tried to clear his mind. "Ive got to stay with the clan." he mumbled to himself. "If i leave now everyone whos left will leave too."

Lemonsight took meadowkit to an area with very large trees that grew with thick with large roots. "Ok now smell agian. You can smell mice around here."

Quailfur didnt want to go ask her what had happened, he was afraid it would only upset her even more. He shook his head and looked up at starsong. "hello." he mewed "How are you feeling?"

Quailfur hadnt ever shared his emotions or thoughts with other cats unless it was Swiftstar and about the good of the clan. But he was so worn down he couldnt lie to her. "Im worn out." he said simply. "And im worried about what happened out there..."

"Im worried about her too... I feel like i should try and talk to her... but i know im the last person she would want sympathy from." he listened to the sobbing from the warriors den and tried to understand what happened. "Maybe we should go find Firesong and see what happened at highstones..."
