PERSONALITY:
Willownose appears to be kind and soft, and in many ways she is, but she is also unyielding and immovable, though not in a stern or harsh way. She moves slowly, deliberately, and speaks in the same measured way. She has a deep, warm heart, and cares very much for those around her, but she is also immensely stubborn and it's difficult to change her mind once she's made it up. She keeps her empathy close to the surface, but by sheer force of will makes decisions with her head rather than her heart, even when it would benefit her to do the opposite. Willownose is not a warmonger by any means, but once she decides it's for a good cause she is not afraid to get her paws or claws dirty.

HISTORY:
As a kitten, Willowkit was born to a ShadowClan mother who had taken up with a rogue in the area. She was the only kitten to survive longer than a moon, and as a result her mother was extremely overprotective of Willowkit. She was extremely attentive to instilling a strict moral code in her daughter, and regularly set her with puzzles to solve that she had to reason her way through using those deeply-learned values and ideas. If she came to an incorrect solution, her mother would make her do it all again. This taught Willowkit to be an extremely methodical thinker, and gave her a love-hate relationship with puzzles and riddles. The bulk of her kittenhood passed in this way, and by the time she was ready for an apprenticeship she was a reserved, deliberate, slow-to-speak young adult who seemed older than her youthful age.
Upon her apprenticeship, Willowpaw's mother withdrew from her. As Willowpaw was trained in the ways of ShadowClan, she saw her mother less and less until it wasn't uncommon to not come across the older woman for days at a time, only for her to return to the territory smelling of the city. Increasingly suspicious, one day Willowpaw followed her mother, using the skills she had been learning for her trials to keep herself hidden from the older woman's sight. She discovered that her mother had been meeting up with a rogue in the city, unbeknownst to her the same one that had fathered her moons ago, and carrying on with him. But he wasn't treating her kindly, and she had become involved in all kinds of city cat gang business, menacing and injuring others in exchange for food, warmth, shelter, and other creature comforts. After thinking it through, Willowpaw decided that the best thing to do would be to remove this rogue from the equation, and that if she was successful perhaps her mother would come home to her.
She didn't mean to kill him. She was chasing after him, trying to get him to talk to her, and so she didn't realize when she had chased him onto a major Thunderpath, the acrid, tarry smell filling her nostrils a heartbeat too late. She didn't notice the giant monster barreling toward them, and it was a blessing that she had not yet caught up to the rogue. He was struck, presumably killed, and Willowpaw was saved only by her mother shoving her out of the way in the nick of time, injuring her daughter's hip in the process. The grief in her mother's eyes when they landed on the rogue's crumpled body, torn and bleeding, told Willowpaw that she had badly misjudged the situation. There was an emotional component of their relationship that she hadn't accounted for in her reasoning. It was an accident, this wasn't how she had wanted to resolve things, but it was too late to take it back now. Willowpaw's mother snarled at her, told her to never come back, and that she never wanted to see her face again. Frightened, Willowpaw tried to comfort her mother, to apologize, to do anything to bring her back to ShadowClan with her, but incoherent in her grief, her mother lashed out at the girl with unsheathed claws. Willowpaw turned and ran back to ShadowClan, stinking of the city and heartbroken.
She never told anyone of what happened, and explained her injuries and smell as having narrowly escaped a run-in with some Twolegs intent on capturing her. Those kinds of things happened often enough that no one questioned her, though those that looked closely enough could see that something in Willowpaw's eyes had changed. She no longer asked after her mother, no longer stared anxiously at the camp's entrance waiting for her to appear. Instead, she devoted herself to her training with renewed vigor, and became a bit more reticent, though her emotions remained close to the surface, the girl never quite able to push them all the way back inside the box that her mother had cracked open with her claws and her words.
Willownose, after a long time spent grieving the loss of her mother, finally decided to muster up the courage and strength to connect with her Clanmates after moons spent largely self-isolating. She plays a game of would-you-rather with Stagheart, and tries to get to know Elpis, a new member of ShadowClan that Willownose finds herself drawn to.
FUTURE PLOTS:
✯ Willownose makes a choice based on thinking something through rather than reacting in an impassioned way, but it hurts someone she loves deeply and she is forced to reevaluate her perceptions of herself. Perhaps an angsty romance??
✯ Willownose, upon discovering she is infertile, adopts some abandoned kittens and realizes she is in no way equipped to raise them. Antics ensue.
✯ Idk why but I really want her to have some sort of StarClan-y crisis of faith where she rationalizes herself out of any supernatural belief system but then StarClan is like "wtf" and she has to deal with it...
