Briarpaw missed the mouse that scurried about in the grass, the tiny vermin running as quickly as it could away from the young molly who suffered from possible hallucinations and was half-deaf. The young apprentice hunter was attempting to hunt within the ravine that led to Vertex, the feline hungry and as she could not yet figure out how to capture the large predator birds that tried to feed on kittens and young apprentices such as herself with having only arrived in Vertex herself a short time ago, Briarpaw was forced to try to hunt within the ravine or within the forest in hopes of catching a mouse. As she landed in the spot where the mouse had been, she hissed to herself in frustration and flattened her ears before rising up on her hind paws and looking around the area in hopes of spotting a slightly bigger piece of prey that might make this trip down here worthwhile since Beetlestar was sleeping in camp. On her back legs she could see a bit though because she was still young, she couldn't stay on her hind legs for long without falling back to all fours but she did detect movement this way, a shadow within the early morning and fell back to all fours. She crouched down and stalked towards the shadow, her nose twitching as she crept towards the shadow on her left side, given her right ear was where her disability was. "Who's there?" Briarpaw meowed as her nose caught the scent of a cat.

    Slate|24 Moons-Molly|Rogue>Leader|Covert

Slate was young when she decided the life of a kittypet was no longer for her and thus she took the time to leave what had once been her home for two years, the young Russian Blue forsaking a life of comfort for the harsh wilderness and desire for freedom within the sandy dunes of the outside. She wandered outside, as she was wont to do when fighting and killing snakes and scorpions for her human owners and didn't look back as she began her journey through the desert village, miles of sand and semi-arid scrubland stretching before her as far as the eye could see. She looked around for any other cats that might want to leave the village and start a clan together, sitting at the edge of the village near a fence post where she had said she would be if any desired to come with her.

So, Covert Clan has not started yet. I put Slate (soon to be Shellstar) sitting at a fence at the edge of the two-leg desert village for any cats within the village (kittypet or rogue) that wish to end up joining her to start a new clan.

There are also several adoptable cats, though none for Covert Clan yet, available to make. This includes ranks but the only thing you'd need to follow would be their gender, age and names as well as relations. These adoptables can be found under each clan as well as one for rogues and kittypets available for adoption if you want to adopt one of them.

Okay so this is for everyone in the thread. CantSleep   Beelzebub.   Angel Dust   KagomeMoana   Vilaeri   Silverinu93 If you look at the 2nd post on the first page of the RP, you will see a list of prey organized by pack & town. This means only the prey in the area you are in can be found and hunted (as well as predators). Now, there might be stray dogs that wander occasionally in the forest and mountains but I mostly stuck them in the town.

Over the past month, those left within the pack and that was mostly Ratu, had ended up scrubbing and disinfecting the home for they still were at a loss as to what caused the sickness to spread through Crepusculum or even the pack and sleuth which had been struck with the same disease. Their herbalists and the herbalists apprentices all deceased, meant that the pride couldn't afford to get sick again. Ratu, after wandering the house and finding Alexsi's body, had dragged it out of the house and set it on fire before taking out any other bodies within the house that had fallen where they laid, Shiva and his patrol bringing back bodies from the grounds during patrols and the bodies had been buried within a mass grave far from the villa. Ratau knew her son was worried about many things but he had stayed away from the house, the woman even building her deceased mate's funeral pyre and setting him alight. The woman was currently sleeping outside which suited her just fine, having moved into one of the deceased caretaker rooms which suited her just fine on the other side of the villa and was unaware of Daenerys' leaving the note for her to find when she went back to the house.

Shiva continued climbing the slope, his sides heaving as he climbed steadily upwards, a few rocks and pebbles skittering under his paws down the slope as he traversed upwards. The tiger had to watch his footing as he got near the top as his paws soon hit a bit of snow and it caused him to slip and skid down the side of the mountain he was traversing so took longer then normally to get to the top but when he did, he stopped to see a herd of Red Deer grazing in a mountain valley. The feline looked over the prey, trying to decide which would be easiest to hunt down and satisfy his own stomach and bring back to the pride. He knew it would be foolhardy to try to take down any fawns or prime deer that might be of breeding age which meant possibly an old deer even though the meat wouldn't be the most tender. He was not expecting something to rush at him and pounce on him, causing the tiger to fall down the other side of the mountain, each hit of the rock against his body causing him pain while his attacker began rushing down the mountain after the feline, having jumped off the cat and skidded to a stop on the slope to avoid injury itself. One of the deer looked up at the commotion and let out a bleat, causing the herd to scatter and take off towards a safer area.

Do you think I'm stupid? Briarpaw didn't say it though but that was what she was thinking as she drew closer to whoever was there within Vertex territory. The young cat padded forward, her good ear twitching as she head a voice saying there was nobody there. Bad mistake, she thought to herself. The stranger had just given themselves away but her attention as momentarily distracted as a mouse was flung towards her, her eyes watching it sail through the air to land at her paws. The stranger ended up moving into the light from the pitiful den it had found and eyed her warily, Briarpaw lowering her head to bite into the meat of the mouse as she listened to the feline introduce itself. She remembered Beetlestar saying to manipulate and convince cats into joining the clan however, Briarpaw was not sure of her manipulation abilities. She was a murderer, not a manipulator. "Briarpaw," said Briar in response to the cat that appeared within the light. "You appear to be lost. I can take you somewhere where you can belong and not be treated by inferior laws of other clans or judged by a lack of belief in the pathetic Star Clan and Dark Forest," she purred in between bites she took of the mouse. If nothing else, Briarpaw could explain, or try to explain, that she had tried to convince someone to join the clan.

Shiva could only try to get his footing underneath him but it was not easy as went end over end down the other side of the mountain, the feline leaping at him when he managed to dig his claws into a ledge and knocking the winded tiger off his paws, sending him toppling over. Shiva snarled to as he attempted to get up, only to roar in pain as claws sliced across his flank, ripping through fur and skin. He was hit again as he tried getting up, this time the claws nicking his right ear and right side of his face, narrowly missing his eye. Another displeased snarl emitted from Shiva as he forced his body up on all fours and turned to face the outcast snarling and pacing in front of him. Looking at the cat he could see it was a leopard facing him. Shiva snarled as he fell into circling along with the leopard, the other male not saying anything but staring at him instead, the herd now gone which meant once he beat this leopard, he would have to continue his hunting and try to track the herd once more.

Leopards were faster then tigers. His father had told him how they could use their speed and wit to win against a tiger, their strength making them less agile then the smaller felines of jaguar and leopard. The leopard's mouth curled into a sneer as it stared down the tiger, golden hues watching the tiger as it struggled to its paws and then turned to face him. All it had to do was kill the tiger who ran this pride and then the territory and the females within the pride were its own. Speaking of females, there seemed to be one such female of the pride lurking upon the mountain and settling down to wait, something Shiva didn't notice as he was warily watching the leopard before him. His mother herself was in heat as were his other two female pride members and the feline would not risk his mother suffering the fate of being mated against her will by her son's killer. However, the leopard was smaller then Shiva, making him guess it was either his own age or full-grown as they didn't get very big. If it had experience on its side, it would be difficult, to win as it would know where to strike and how to avoid his fangs and teeth.

It was the heat scent that caught Shiva's attention, his own eyes watching the smaller cat as it turned its head towards where another scent was coming from. The leopard seemed focused on the scent and Shiva took that time to attack his opponent, the tiger gathering his paws and then springing towards the leopard, this time being the one to bole the smaller cat over as it screeched in surprise at the attack. He managed to pin the smaller cat to the ledge they stood on, holding it down with one paw as he opened his jaws, the cat having no way to wiggle out from under his paw as he sank his claws into the feline's back, causing it to growl in pain. The smaller cat struggled to get the tiger off it but Shiva's jaws found its neck and bit down into the flesh, tightening his grip on the leopard as it began to struggle desperately, choked gasps coming from it as it tried to get air into its lungs. Shiva held onto the leopard until its struggling grew slower and finally ceased, until it went still underneath him and he couldn't feel the cat breathing anymore before releasing it. As the leopard fell to the ground, blood dripped from both his fangs and the two wounds on flank, ear and cheek that drip onto the ground and the outcast lying dead beneath him.

Shiva's ear and face burned with pain as he stared down at the leopard before huffing out a breath, his tongue coming out to lick the blood from his fangs as he turned from the cat, leaving it there for the other predators that lurked within the mountains to eat and pick off. Shiva knew the herd would be gone now and it would take time to track them so even though he was suffering a few wounds, he turned to head down the rest of the mountain and continue his search of them.

Briarpaw continued to eat at the mouse that had been tossed to her, the other feline remaining silent and seemingly thinking things over, so far as Briarpaw could understand. Being such a small meal, it didn't take Briarpaw long to finish her breakfast but did respond as the other spoke of not being lost. "Anyone who comes here is lost and without purpose," said Briarpaw, "or stupidily wanders here on an adventure of some sort but you don't strike me as the latter." When she finished her mouse, she left the bones where they were, having no use for them, and lifted her head to look at the other cat that did not look like Briarpaw at all, nor anyone in her family.

That movie freaked me out as a kid...haven't seen it in ages but yes I would be fine with the flock leader summoning the flock or even normal birds to attack townspeople. Gosh I can just picture it now...seagulls (or whatever birds they were, as I said I haven't seen the movie in ages), pecking people to death.

"Or chased," agreed Briarpaw with a shrug of her shoulders as she licked her maw and then turned, flicking her tail for the other feline to follow her. "That Abyss clan is not very welcoming are they?" she questioned with a shake of her head as she heard the other cat tell her to lead the way and that she would join. Briarpaw was pleased with herself, she hoped Beetlestar would be pleased as well at getting a new member to the clan. the feline desperately wanting to become a cult follower but Beetlestar said she could only be one if Micarbast chose her and she had worked her way up from apprentice hunter to hunter. The journey from the ravine would take them up Night Ridge itself which bordered both Abyss Clan and stretched far from Lost Clan, heading into forest covered in grass and moss. It was going to be a long journey and the apprentice hunter hoped that the oncilla stranger could keep up.

Okay Angel Dust I'll also let you come up with the territory the birds occupy. I got you up a Neophyte as well, debated on making a Nester but eh...may do that later or let someone else do it.

Whatever the leopard might have thought as the tiger ended his life was now nothing of importance as Shiva turned, scouring the area below the ledge. The herd would likely disappear into the wilderness until they were sure they would not be hunted again and found somewhere else to settle down. Injured as he was, Shiva knew he had a duty to the pride, what remained anyway, to hunt for them and keep up the patrols since he was the only male in the pride and the chief though he knew in time that Leah and Daenerys could patrol when he was at school. At least he hoped they would be up to the task, they had seemed to agree with it when he had had had the meeting after finding all the bodies within the territory belonging to pride members. As he turned he scented the heat scent coming towards him, the scent of Daenerys accompanying the heat scent that played on his instincts as a male tiger when around a female who could potentially bear kittens Shiva found it tantalizing and somewhat unpleasant though it did not turn the tiger off the scent of the female like it might someone who was homosexual. As he moved towards the edge of the ledge, he scented Daenerys coming towards him, the male pausing in his steps as the Cheetah came towards him and swiped her tongue across his face and ear, causing Shiva to growl in displeasure at the stinging sensation before leaping down onto the slope and heading down to the valley below, once again putting his nose to the ground to try to discern the scent of the deer so he could determine which direction they'd gone.

Shiva did not make any move to stop Daenerys from following him down the slope and into the valley. He lifted his head, sniffing at the air, blood dripping from his injured flank before finally deciding to speak to the female. "The pride will be unprotected when I begin school in two days," spoke Shiva at last. "I would suggest you, Leah and mother remain in the house or close to it when I am in school for it will likely attract rogue felines with at least you and my mother being in heat."

Briar turned her head towards the cat. What did she think they were doing, having a chat? She flicked her ears in response and did not respond but continued their journey. "If you are accepted by the chosen, you will not need to worry about anyone else in your past...for that is all they will be. Lost souls without purpose," she spoke. Briar did not respond as she led them towards the forest and slipped into it, winding her way along hidden paths, through and around the still woods. "Orders from him are to convince rogues to come or kill them if the refuse to join...to hunt them where they might serve a higher purpose by being a sacrifice," said Briarpaw without preamble. Winding through the forest took a few hours to complete until they came towards the mountain valley where the camp was located and she called out to Beetlestar as she approached. "Chosen, I've found a potential pupil," she said.

Daenerys tongue swept over his flank, making him hiss in response to the rough tongue against his wound. Lifting his head from the ground after speaking, he started forward, his ears twitching as he heard Daenerys speak of needing to patrol with being the only Tau left alive that they knew of and saying she needed to patrol and go to classes. She continued in the same frame of mind that she never listened to him when he told her to do something. "That's the truth," he muttered to himself. Yet when he started forwards again, she moved in front of him and blocked his way, growling at him and speaking of him needing to take care of his wounds lest his blood end up alerting prey to his presence. "We have no herbalists anymore," spoke Shiva. "How do you suggest I get my wounds tended to?" Shiva lifted his head over the cheetah to look around before huffing out a breath of air. The prey was likely long gone by now anyway. "I suppose it is worth trying to tend to these wounds before I have to go to school and sleeping in a bed would be nice then the ground."
