"Predator!" Came the gentle call of the Stoneteller as she approached from the other side of the cave. "It's good to see you out and about! Feeling better, I take it?" She'd have to admit, the young molly's ailment had caused quite a bit of distress within the Tribe. With how long she'd been sick, many doubted she'd survive. But here she was, better than ever and ready to get right back into the swing of things. The true heart of a Tribe cat!

Yes! The setting was just perfect. Sunset, the light glinting off of the fir trees, shining just over the mountain landscape. Everything was just beautiful! This was the beginning of Owl's little matchmaking project. It was that time of year when love seemed to be in the air, and the Stoneteller had already been blessed to find her own perfect romance story. Now, all she had to do was try to spread the joy she felt with her clanmates, and she knew the perfect pair to try and set up.
She had asked Lion and Valley to join her for a walk around the territory. You know, for "pregnancy protection," but as soon as the two Tribe cats arrived, she gave them a grin, told them she was tired, and left them to their devices. "Have fun, though! DarkClan's territory is just beautiful this time of day!" She'd call over her shoulder as she strode back to camp, tail high in the air and giggling to herself.

Now, onto her second match-up. A grin appeared on her maw as the two to-bes appeared, just as she had instructed them to do. We'll all go training! She had said. It'll be fun! No, they didn't know the real reason they were out here. They would have no way of knowing that this was all part of Owl's little plot for her tribemates. A mischievous smirk grew across her face as she looked at them, feigning a cramp. "Oh, ouch! Man, this whole kit-carrying thing is hard on the body, huh? You know, I'm gonna turn in, need to rest up. Say, why don't you two stay out here? The sky is just beautiful around this time of day. The sun setting, and all that! Yeah, I'll just leave you two to it." With a playful nudge on each of their shoulders, she'd be off, headed towards her next little pairing.

The third pairing of the evening: her brother and a cat who she believed to be quite kind! "Hawk! Crow! Come quick, I need your help with something!" Hiding the grin that desperately wanted to appear, the Stoneteller would whip around and canter away gently into the woods, her companions in tow. A soft snicker finally escaped as they reached the tree line, the sunset appearing just as gloriously there over the mountainside. "Whew, now ain't that a view?" Cocking her head to the side, Owl looked back at the two felines with a cheeky grin, rump waggling playfully. "Say, Hawk, doesn't Crow look lovely tonight too? You guys should talk about that! Might be fun! Anyway, I gotta go. See ya later!" With that, she was off. Three down, several to go!

Next up was another pair of to-bes, and Owl hoped that this little activity would help the two to become closer friends! With a grin, she led Snow and Flame through DarkClan territory, just outside of the cave so that they wouldn't be too far from the safety of camp. For once, she was out of excuses, so she just turned to the two with a smirk. "Alright, you two. I've gotta head back inside for, uh, Stoneteller business. Why don't you guys hang out a bit, get to know each other? I'm sure you have a lot in common!" Best friends in the making, perhaps? She hoped! "Have fun!" She'd call as she trotted back inside the cave, tail sweeping the ground in amusement.

The soft voice of the Tribe's youngest to-be could be heard gently bouncing off the walls of DarkClan's camp. It easily caught the attention of Owl, who was crouched near the cave wall where she hoped to cool off. Thank the Tribe of Endless Hunting that DarkClan also dwells in a cave, or we'd all be baking by now. That's what had been going through her mind before Flame caught her attention. Her kind amber eyes quickly found his fiery pelt and she sat up, beckoning him over with a quick mrrow. As he approached, the Stoneteller would tilt her head curiously, mewing, "Is something wrong, Flame? You look distraught."
-
His response definitely shocked Owl, to say the least, and she peered at him with wide eyes for a moment. It's true, she had noticed that he wasn't the most eager in his training compared to the other to-bes, but she hadn't expected this. "Flame, what do you mean?" She mewed softly, making sure to keep her voice gentle so as not to stress the poor thing out even more. "Do you mean you don't want to be a cave-guard to-be?" While most cats tended to train in the role that had been selected for them at birth, it wasn't unheard of for a cat to switch paths if they truly desired to do so.
-
This next pairing was especially exciting for the Stoneteller, mostly because it wasn't a pairing at all. No, the next two would just be an arranged playdate between her newly adopted daughter and a particularly amusing kit of the Tribe. After temporarily moving to DarkClan, Owl had become concerned that maybe her brand new children wouldn't have the confidence to make new friends and build those lifelong bonds, so now she took it upon herself to help one of them do so. "Moon! I found someone who would like to play," The young mother called gently, poking her head into DarkClan's nursery. She had already dragged Clownfish out of whatever activity he had been doing before, promising him a playmate if he'd follow her. Once her daughter would come out, she'd smile at the two of them and mew, "I think you two could be great friends! Promise me you'll play nice now, okay?" Giving each kitten a lick across the head, she trusted they'd come up with some game to play and murmured her goodbyes, promising them she'd be back for bedtime. Like all of the other times, she was off in a flash.

The next one would be difficult. Owl didn't know Lizard too well, but she did know Mink. The one who was currently working too hard and, in her opinion, needed some time for herself. In this case, it was a time for the Stoneteller's little matchmaking game. "Come on, Mink. I wanna show you something before the sun sets!" And it was setting fast. Hopefully Lizard had stayed right where she told him to, underneath the towering pine tree that framed the sunset's light so well with its boughs. It would be perfect! Stifling a giggle, she pushed on, finally spotting the tom where she had left him. "We're here!" She announced enthusiastically, trotting towards the tom-cat with a wide grin. "Oh man, do you know what I forgot?" Owl feigned a gasp, rolling her eyes at her own mindlessness. "Oh geez, I forgot the herbs for the lesson! Ugh! I guess we can't do the lesson anymore, and Lizard would have been such a great practice patient! Such a shame, really. Well! No need to waste this perfect sunset! Why don't you too just hang out here while I head back to camp? I probably should get back to the kits, y'know." With a cheeky grin, she brushed up beside her friend before bounding off, snickering all the way.

Pebble That Causes Ripple
Ah, one last pairing. At least, until any other potential couples slipped into Owl's mind. For now, however, this was it. She had asked Shadow to accompany her and Pebble out on a hunt until they reached a boulder. "Bet you guys can't jump up there with one leap," She challenged suddenly, turning to look at them with a daring gleam in her eyes. Little did they know that the top of that boulder provided a very lovely view of the setting sun, the same sunset that she had made sure to let all of the pairings see. Well, the older ones, at least. She didn't wait around to see if they'd do it, however, because in an instant she was off, her giggly laugh echoing through the trees before it disappeared entirely.

Jackdaw, Junco, and Snipe are accepted! I'll be making the birthing thread tomorrow, and after that they can be aged up to four moons!
They will be living in DarkClan for a little bit before the Sharptooth battle, when they'll be moved back to the Tribe!
Also, this birth will be very premature, with several other stillborn kits. These three will be the only survivors, but we may adopt out a fourth (and maybe fifth) slot later on!
Thanks for applying and we're very excited for your characters! :)

Owl had of course known about her pregnancy for some time. However, with the threat of the Sharptooth and the harsh transition to living with DarkClan, she had thought it best to keep it a secret, not wanting to stress anyone out more than needed. Lucky for her, she had the true build of a cave-guard, with broad features and a long, fluffy pelt to cover it. No one had even noticed her growing belly! Well, maybe a few had, but perhaps they just thought she was eating a bit more than her fair share. But now, after that DarkClan warrior's discovery of her own pregnancy, it seemed only fitting that she should finally make this joyous event known.
"Hey, everyone! I have something I'd like to share!" She assumed it would mostly be Tribe cats that tuned in, but she didn't care. The smile on her face couldn't be wiped off from the disinterest of others, but who knew? Maybe the DarkClanners would celebrate with her! "Veil and I are expecting kits! I wanted to wait a while to tell you all, but I'm very excited for them to meet you all!" Especially their older siblings! The Stoneteller thought fondly, her gaze searching for the bouncing litter that she and Veil had taken in as their own. Flare, Fox, Rabbit, and Moon; they'd all be getting little brothers or sisters soon enough. For once, ever since the Sharptooth threat had been discovered, Owl felt completely at ease. Nothing could ruin this moment.

// jfhskjdh thank you Ruby!!! We're very excited!!!
Owl pricked her ears as three of her four little ones rapidly approached, each of them firing off questions like bullets. Her smile grew even wider at their excitement; she'd hoped they'd be happy! With a loud purr rising within her, she lowered her head to fondly nuzzle her three daughters, showering them with licks before pulling away only slightly to try and answer all of their inquiries. "Oh, I think I'm more excited than nervous! After all, I have you all to help me out by being good role models for them! And I know they'll just love you so much, just as Veil and I do." She chuckled as she glanced between the three of them, trying her best to remember all of their questions. "From the feeling of it, I think we'll be expecting plenty; but, I have no idea what they'll look like! Perhaps a little like your father, what do you think?" She feigned confusion and surprise, eyes growing wide as she asked them the question. "And of course you all can help us name them. They'll be your family!" Her eyes flitted up to see one of the younger DarkClan apprentices watching with interest and she cast him a hesitant smile. Maybe the clan cats would be interested in this after all? They were allies, so she supposed it might be exciting for them to have the Tribe growing as well. Her gentle amber gaze lowered back down to look at her children and she smiled happy once more. "We'll have some time before they arrive. Perhaps we can think of names before then." (oof sorry Owl that's not happening)
-
// no worries!!
Owl's entire body seemed to sag with relief when he finally spoke, a small smile forming on her maw. He didn't hate her! And it seemed like he had missed her just as much as she missed him. A purr rumbled in her throat as Hawk pressed his nose against her shoulder, gladly leaning into the touch and closing her eyes, content. Thank the Tribe of Endless Hunting that this had all worked out! "I trust you, Hawk, I really do. I shouldn't have placed such restrictions on you. Let's just go back to normal, okay?" She mewed in a hushed tone, as if speaking too suddenly or loudly will frighten him off.

Mink that Plays with Lizard
Everyone was well aware that this was a rough time to be expecting kits. The Sharptooth attack on their home certainly didn't help, and paired with the drought, everything seemed like a mess. Owl, for one, certainly hadn't been eating very much, despite Mink and Owlgaze's complaints. She was aware that she needed to eat for the kits growing inside of her, but how could she hoard so much caught-prey when many other Tribers and DarkClanners were going to bed starving? No, she couldn't do it. She couldn't sentence others to potential deaths because she accidentally got pregnant. Now, she certainly didn't regret it. While it had come as a surprise to both her and Veil, they felt blessed for the opportunity to add to their family, to give their newly adopted kits more kin to call their own. This would be a happy time. This would be a time full of blessings and smiles.
Or so she thought.
It was late at night; many cats had already taken to their nests for a good night's sleep. But, not Owl. No, like most nights, her insomnia was keeping her awake. The tabby-striped Stoneteller sat perched at the cave's entrance, her wide amber eyes watching the starry sky above. How beautiful it was, how peaceful. A sudden pang would interrupt her admiration, causing the Norwegian Forest cat to flinch slightly. That's probably normal. Pregnancy cramps, right? Then another came, this time more intense and painful than the first. Her breath hitched in her throat as she stumbled backwards, shock radiating off of her. "Something's wrong," She'd whisper, concerned eyes turned towards the ground as her brow furrowed. Another contraction, and she was keeled over, a single paw reached towards her stomach as she leaned back on her haunches. "Something's wrong!" Owl suddenly shouted, much louder than her first proclamation. Blood. Oh Tribe of Endless Hunting, she was bleeding. She began to panic, her breaths coming quickly as her heart raced.
