absalom's effort was not forgotten. his little gift, given to her in passing at a party, still hung on her wall. even when she tore her home apart, ripping into pillows and shattering old carvings she and her family had made - his gift remained up. she wasn't sure why she kept it together instead of tossing it with everything else. especially now - her capture was gone once more for the life of that cub. she was bitter because of his mother, bitter because of him, and yet she looked to make sure his carved vertebrae remained up in her home.
bloodpoppy didn't put much thought into her craft. she had old bones that she crafted in different parts of her life. some had spots that were stained purposefully with blood, some carvings were intricate while others were not. she used the skill junko bestowed on her and drove a string down the center of many of her crafts, creating a small necklace. she left a bird skull in the center. she didn't know why - it just felt right.
"absalom...?" she called to the boy, uncertain, but stubborn enough to want to give him the gift.

"what game?"
it was odd to think but bloodpoppy liked absalom. just like she liked junko and elian, and not unlike how she preferred bellona and johnny to a handful of others. the girl's circle was small - literally just herself as she didn't enjoy the process of making bonds - but she looked forward to seeing a few faces alive every other day. absalom happened to be one of those faces. her ears twitched as she settled in beside the three-legged cub, golden eyes narrowed as she waited.

"touch maho or i, and you'll be speared next."
the daughter of the apparent murderer didn't favor what sitri was trying to suggest. sure, arya had much more out there. sisters with her, family in the other desert. there was certainly some way to get beneath her mother's skin, but bloodpoppy wouldn't allow herself or her sister to be a part of the festivities. she couldn't protect those outside of their territory, but she could protect those inside - that was her intention with her blunt words. she couldn't care less about anything else, in truth.
in fact, she held no remorse for the golden retriever that lain massacred before them. she didn't like him and made that clear when she almost stabbed him through. her only intention in arriving was to be sure that no one used herself or maho as bait - sanguine ruins were lucky to retain two tormentas in their ranks. they'd be stupid to do anything that would be rid of them.
"what's happening with the body?" the girl then spoke, meandering away from sitri and speaking directly to her mentor, ears twitching. she glanced at the eyes that lain at the base of the stake, picking them up with her telekinesis, "does henri want these?" was she just playing into the mockery of the ruins? henri obviously had an infatuation with eyes, the man painted them all over his body. he'd asked for kirsch's too. the similarity wasn't lost on the hellcat just as it wasn't lost on anyone else - maybe she did intend to take it further. she wouldn't condemn her mother for her actions, never. she loved arya and would state such if asked. she just didn't want to leave the ruins and, frankly, had no reason to. they had yet to chase her out, after all.

"you weren't here." her threat that she gifted johnny months ago still rang truthfully. she would still stomp his chest in if he felt any authority over her. he did have authority, truthfully. he was her mentor as a physician (though she obviously wasn't great in that field.) still, she couldn't help herself. he was easy to threaten. her attention shifted to the others that offered to help, though she wasn't sure how they could help. her ears pricked towards petra for a moment before she gave a short nod.
"sort them," she huffed towards junko and arlo, "dirtiest in one pile, less... dirty in another," she figured the one's that were used for worse injuries would have to steep for longer in boiling water, to make them clean. however that worked, she wasn't sure. truthfully she shared similar sentiments to elian. maybe if they had more allies, they wouldn't be struggling with a bunch of old blankets. anyways, "i don't know herbs," she told johnny, ears pulled back. can't sort them if she knew so little. her gaze turned towards con, expectantly as the woman was the only one with open paws left.

a little late to the party (if she could even call it that,) the apprentice said nothing at first. she debated whether it was even worth it to join in the 'fun' and get lost in some ratchety maze. she spotted Junko Darling
go inside, however, and on whim decided to partner up with the third tier. she said nothing still, coming up behind the young cub and scooping her up and placing her on her back (if junko allowed it.) "we'll see more. c'mon," she huffed, and once junko was nicely situated on her back (or trotting alongside her, it didn't matter either way,) she'd wait for the cub to give instruction.

bloodpoppy didn't know what a rap battle was. the girl was certainly sheltered in pop culture references, not because arya didn't want her to know, but because she was simply ignorant to them. still, drawn by the crowd and mix of scents, the girl came close to watch the show. she had managed to nab a tomato, unsure what to do with it, but lingered with it beneath her paw. maybe it was a mid-show snack. she didn't like that it didn't leak the red it boasted, but she assumed they weren't made for their juices. she'd wait to learn what they were made for.

bloodpoppy never has guests over. she told junko about where she lived but never invited the girl in. she assumed maho was the same, her sister was rather standoffish as of late. neither of them truthfully made many friends after their mother and aunt's exile. or, at least, poppy felt like she didn't improve in that category. maho seemed unfazed by it all. but that was a bitter thought for another time. the child was asleep in a pile of torn and worn blankets and animal skins, body uselessly draped in the shreds of what used to be a nice bed. she heard a sharp whisper and her head shot up, golden eyes narrowing. she didn't recognize arya's voice at first, however upon seeing the woman's stature in her shadowed home, she relaxed. she was confused, still, but she was relaxed.
"mother," she greeted arya. it felt like the other day was forgotten, the blood she spilled making up for her losses. her voice still felt raw for yelling, her head still ached for using her memory manipulation too heftily - but it was in the past. she wondered if she could gift arya the claws now, but decided against it. they still had his skin and fur stuck to them. bloodpoppy didn't mind 'gross' but she didn't want to give a half-assed gift to arya, either, "you're here," she said after, quietly, standing up and stretching out her legs.

after her first capture (on her lonesome) was used to remedy absalom's situation, bloodpoppy had grown bitter with the idea of capturing and torturing another. she had missed out on her own fun with it - so why should others be given the privilege? she had seen the albino canine dragging a creature behind her from miles away, however the scent of the creature only became noticeable once she caught up with the two. the cartel - she didn't like them. many had their reasons, but bloodpoppy did not.
"hold him under for longer," she suggested slash demanded. she didn't care if the cartelian died in the process. even though she was upset with her own capture situation, she'd sit and enjoy the drowning of an enemy any day.

a tongue drew over yellowed teeth as she drew close, standing in beside junko and simply trying to grasp the situation. bones, in a box, eva demanding that absalom never be told. the dots still took a bit to connect, but the young apprentice eventually forged them together. she gave junko a nudge, ears twitching back, "get me a different leg, yeah?" was that how it worked? bloodpoppy saw the trouble in being gifted a clanmates limb, but junko seemed adamant on giving her something, so surely that fixed it, right?
in any case, she looked towards evangeline, "eurydice was left on the border, hardly living," she remarked, "if you hide the bones, he's none the wiser, and they're still hurting more," intricate thought hardly plagued the girl, but she saw the minor benefits in not telling absalom of the wretched gift.

there was no hesitation as the horn was passed along. its sharp edges were scored through skin and flesh, blood seeping from the wounds naturally. it's edges were indiscriminate, taking and harming whoever wished to fall beneath it. whoever wished to promise allegiance, not only to the clan, but to one another. to their god that demanded sacrifice, even in this small manner. bloodpoppy wasn't one to pick up on nuances. she wasn't one to pick apart laws and rules and find the faults. she preferred to listen and follow. and as such, she saw nothing wrong with the practice.
if anything, she was glad it was implemented after her family left; lest they be stricken dead by the god half of her people feared.
she grasped the horn in her teeth, turning her paw over and scratching it just the same. it welled up, little beads of life, and she carelessly shook it into the shared bowl, "'m now a part of sanguine ruins... eternally," she repeated, glancing at the pad of her paw, "oathed in blood to family. blood 'f blood, bone 'f bone," the words meant nothing to her. she'd already made it clear where she stood in life, though the feeling of being insulted rested deep in her chest rather than rising to spite the others, "i give m' spirit. with you, i run. in life, in death." and that was it. she rasped her tongue over her open wound, finding she scored more than just the surface, before passing along the supplies.

cherrywine had taught her how to carve bones. her aunt was one of the few that knew of her existence before the clan. she snuck away in her free time to entertain herself and her siblings - and what better way than to make offerings to their lord? she could remember how fascinated cherrywine used to be when bloodpoppy implemented her claws into the mix, how they could spend hours in partial silence (her aunt loved to talk,) just marking up bones and practicing several symbols.
bloodpoppy couldn't do that anymore. cherrywine was exiled and her family, aside from maho, was gone. however recently she vowed to connect with the ruins closely. she spilled her blood into the same bowl and promised to be by their side, in life - and in death. pieces of her wanted to keep her craft to herself, but given she was a nurse and disgusted with the idea of chewing up useless leaves, she'd have to play up her religion and become a priest instead. it wouldn't be that hard. her aunt was a prized priestess before she was exiled, and though the apprentice didn't care for her god like others did, she still believed in him (who wouldn't at this point?)
she rolled a bone beneath her paw, unsure of how to start, before calling out, "i'm teaching bone carving... symbols," sounded simple enough. she's get through the skulls, the repeatable patterns, the types of bones to use for what offerings. she'd get through it easily.

Junko Darling
her ears twitched back as she and the cub traveled through the prison, looking for a particular prisoner to mess with for the day. bloodpoppy had her bouts where she felt restless, where her frustrations with her family were at an all time high - she could only be thankful (if that was what the feeling was called,) whenever junko suggested they do something together. she leaned over, nudging her nose into the cub's neck to hurry the other along, "you pick. i just want to... break somethin'," she huffed. surely junko had a better grasp of what prisoners lay down here. the older girl didn't really care for them in truth.

"she was alive," bloodpoppy muttered as she pushed herself to her legs. she'd been resting by the pyramids, ears twitching when eisuke made his demands. this was why many of the ruiners didn't think the previous alliance would work out. there were days of freedom, and much of her own lashed out immediately. and here they were, back at the neck of one another. having not seen junko or absalom yet, bloodpoppy took ease in finding her mentor and joining him in battle. maybe there was some satisfaction, too, in finding that he was attacking the very man that threatened her over eurydice's return. fitting.
she walked across the battlefield slowly, picking up speed gradually. she wouldn't be able to reach them in time to match elian's hit (nor did she have the elemental match to him.) she she drafted a quick plan and focused best she could, eyes narrowed. she attempted to blind eisuke with her shadow elemental as she barreled towards him and elian, head tilting down as she then intended to ram the lupurca as soon as she got closer.

the nuzzle from junko was met with a short tail wag from the hybrid, finding that, day by day, she enjoyed the third tier's company, even if it was in passing like this. the action was repeated when absalom found her other side, leaning against her slightly to give his legs a break. she didn't like being used as a kickstand but didn't say anything, as her feelings towards the boy were muffled, just as they had been with junko.
in any case, she watched the torture with half lidded eyes. he yelled, carnival snipped back and threatened. his head was shoved under and his limbs were considered a casualty in the making. she'd remain silent if not for his pathetic, flailing legs, "need help?" she asked carnival, figuring she could use her telekinesis to at least render him stationary while she interrogated him. that was a fear she wanted to see - the light in cairo's eyes fade as he realized he had no control over his limbs anymore. but she'd wait patiently, just in case.

he hobbled over and despite everything, she wanted to call him useless. naomi and johnny couldn't participate in battled because of their lame legs or aggressive arthritis - or whatever naomi had. absalom was young but truthfully not much different from them. she wondered if she would see him wobbling out of the physician's pyramid for forever, now that he fit in with those who remained there.
he spoke and she was brought back. it was easy to kneel over and pull the crudely made necklace over his head, hoping for it to land correctly on his neck, "i made it. for you," she remarked, leaning back some but remaining mostly eye-level with the cub.

first right - bloodpoppy agreed with junko, although she hadn't heard the cooperation between another team. she simply trotted along (she hadn't heard a no running rule,) and followed junko's slight command. she continued straight, found the first right and made the turn. it became something of a wobbly hallway before having a branch off. she screwed her nose up before huffing, "can you see anything?" she asked junko, nudging the other with her horn for her to stand on her back and peer as far as she could. surely with their combined height, they could see decently far. she hoped.

had jace ever held a meeting that was cut in half like this? bloodpoppy didn't trust her memory to remind her if he did. he certainly didn't allow for a moment of silence this long when her grandmother died, though. for this, poppy felt both bitter and relieved, because at least now if someone of her family died, they'd be given similar treatment. she hoped. in any case the young apprentice settled herself behind junko, bumping her paw against the other in greeting but remaining silent otherwise. there were positive notes to the meeting, the joiners for example. but the deaths (all of them murders) not to mention trouble with other clans certainly dragged the mood down. she let out a huff and rested her head atop junko's (should the other allow it,) waiting for the meeting to continue.

why were they back again? didnt barghest just admit to killing one of theirs? bloodpoppy was quick to assume this to be something outside her paygrade to understand, lingering near evangeline while she waited for something to do. there wasn't really much to do during a visit other than wait for unrest, however. she plopped her behind down, waiting for the unrest, whether or not it'd come in this visit. surely elian would try to not escalate it, but he was as hot headed as the rest of them. she didn't have much faith.
