During one of their few tea parties, Dee mentioned wanting to up the reputation of the Host Division’s more family friendly offerings. Things like event planning, decorations, platonic work like being a shoulder to cry on, or just an ear to listen. No one heard ‘Host Division’ and didn’t immediately think of some kind of prostitution. It made it hard to get sales when many turned their nose up at you before you could even get a word in edgewise. Especially during times when the need for those kinds of offers was low.

She couldn’t fix the reputation of her primary division in a single day, and certainly not just with pre-made decorations, but she was going to try her hardest to work towards this new goal. Being in this division had begun to give her purpose again, as many of her former skills as a princess were useful here. She no longer felt as lost due to the new addition of ‘late’ to her title.

Currently she was sitting on a sofa in the main living room, embroidering flowers onto the edges of a white tablecloth. A basket sat to the side of her, half-filled with rolls of ribbon, similarly decorated napkins, and a folded undecorated banner. She’d heard talk of many of their associates having coming litters, which meant that possible wedding bells could be ringing within the next season for those that were unhitched. Helping out with a wedding would surely give their reputation a leg up.

*slaps down this girl* She can teach him some basics like how to change the types of plants he grows, as well as to control their growth rate. Doing this would also be good development for her own training with them, as she's learning to...not? put hyacinths anywhere there's land. I dont see why she would want to stop doing that

He doesn't need to pay her really, she's not that kind of person, however I can see a friendship building from this!

Yes she loves flowercrowns!! She's permanently seen wearing one in public because of the third eye she has, its a bit of a sore spot. Also I'm not fully understanding how this is all gonna go, but im going to just go with it, so yes go ahead and tag Kai in the thread!! I'll get to it asap when it goes up

Her first stop that morning would be the Thunderlands. She had spent the previous evening writing up invites with her brother, while everyone else was working on ball preparations. A clean white letter, stamped with a rose and thorn red wax seal, would find itself fluttering down in the busiest area of their little village.

You have been cordially invited to The Cartel's Masquerade ball. The dress code is black tie, with masks being a staunch requirement. Do not worry if you do not have these items in your own wardrobe, dressing rooms have been prepared with this situation in mind at the mansion. Food and drink will be provided, as well as a wonderful night of dancing. We hope you will attend. - Kaia, sister of Asimov

p.s. Cecilia and Dante; my brother has given birth to a healthy litter of seven cubs. They're all doing well.

On the way home, she would stop by the Sanctuary. She had heard times were tough here lately, perhaps this event would help to raise their spirits. A clean white letter, closed with a rose and thorn red wax seal, would flutter down in front of the entrance to the Gaia. Hopefully someone would find it as they woke up this morning.

The days leading up to the birth of the children had been filled with anxiety, for many reasons, for many people. Kaia had woken up to Dee thundering out of her brother's room, causing her to throw off the sheets and rush outside her room herself. She saw Jace be led inside and she sat down. She waited, and then the screaming began. Hybrid children were never an easy birth. She had seen two litters in Sunclan who were hybrids like her, both of them complicated and painful. Her ears folded down, eyes screwing shut as she waited, pacing back and forth across from the closed door.

Suddenly the screaming stopped, and she looked up, stopping in her tracks. Her heart caught in her throat until she heard murmurs and not crying. Asimov had survived. The birth was over. She let out a breath she didn't know how long she'd been holding, stumbling a bit from how light headed she felt. Morning had come, and along with it, her niblings. The former princess walks up to the door, intending to knock only to have it open up just as she begins reaching. She looks up, startled, before padding inside a bit. "Is everyone okay? Everything went well?"

"Books would be in my realm of wares ma'am. I have a list here with some summaries if you would like to look at it?" King was right, no one division really sold books. In theory, books were under everyone's division, it only matter what kind for each one. The host division would have more tales of wonder and woe, alongside crafts and such. The narcotics division would have more cookbooks, farmers almanacs and general agricultural sciences. The Militia would sell books on blacksmithing, war strategy and history. The Nurse division would have other sciences and medical journals. There were some outliers, but that was the gist.

Kaia hadn't made a single sale since coming to the Cartel, though to be fair, Asimov was probably just happy having a sister again. She wanted to earn her keep though, make something of herself here. One day she'd have the confidence to go back to her old home, bring with her what she had learned. One day, thinking of the kingdom wouldn't make her heart twist and jump into her throat. Padding up beside her brother she taps his back with a wing, a greeting, before standing out from the crowd. The catsune pulls a scroll from her bag, leaving it rolled up between her and Ver, making it the Havener's choice to take or leave it.

Kaia and him could be friends? I noticed he likes stuffed toys, Kai is pretty good with a needle and thread so she could make him a plush as a welcoming gift and we can see what happens from there? Her tags are in her siggy if you wanna look at them before deciding <3

    - EDIT: she's also just recently awoken from a very long slumber so they can be lost buddies together bc she's still getting used to what the world has become

It begins with a beck and call, the simple luring of a cardinal and some finches with a game of mimic. Then come the squirrels and the mice, oddly unphased by the predator before them as she continues her lilt. A smile graced her lips as she saw them, and the hyacinths are replaced by golden stalks. Millets and rye become a gift for her audience. They eagerly run right up to her paws, pulling and ripping at the seeds so that they may feast.

She looks like a dream as she sings to them, soft rays of dawn pulling through the edges of the treeline and bouncing off her gold markings. Once, she had kept a menagerie within the palace walls, filled with friends who would not leave. Either due to injuries, or their own broken instincts. Kaia used to be able to charm anything into staying if she wanted it enough. That power had been lost with the old world, but it seemed the prey here still enjoyed a good tune. Not all was different on Agrelos.

For now the cugine is content here, singing to the instinct controlled beings as if nothing had changed. As if she were still a princess of Sunclan, running from her tutors first thing in the morning to have a break from the hours upon hours of lessons. So much time has been lost. She wants to believe that things would’ve still turned out similarly if she had been around. That she still would’ve met Aleksei again, become a loving aunt to so many niblings. Yet...some part of her is afraid of that timeline. It makes her believe she dodged a bullet, stopping her from dying for the kingdom she had one day dreamed to rule with kind eyes guided by Helios’ all-seeing light.

She doesn’t know if Solaris will ever be home again.

Kazimir, one of her nephews, was one of the few children of the litter who’s confidence in himself bordered on arrogance. She didn’t quite know how to feel about it, but she knew what it was like to grow up in a clan who, while you were the child of two important people, side eyed you sometimes. Thankfully here, it was only a few bad apples. It wasn’t your stepmother harassing your mother out of the clan. It wasn’t people accusing you of being the product of a homewrecker, when you didn’t even know what that meant, even though you’d been conceived and born prior to your father and stepmother’s engagement.

She sighed, shaking the thoughts out of her head and continuing to set up the tea room off the side of her bedroom. It had, at one point, been an office. Kaia had no need for an office though, the position she held was not high enough to require a whole room for her work. She just kept a desk in the main room instead, turning this one into a receiving room. Her nephew had been invited for tea and some food, basically as a way for her to see how he was doing and learn more about how he’d grown. Newborns didn’t exactly have hobbies, or interests, so she checked in with all seven of the cubs from time to time.

Kaia had already lost so much time with her brother and his older children, she didn’t want to lose that much with these ones. She’d been given a chance to see them into adulthood from day one, it wasn’t a chance she would so frivolously throw away.

Cleo, the youngest of her niblings, reminded Kaia a lot of herself as a child. The girl tried so hard to live up to her purpose, smiling and learning for the sake of her homes. She could only hope that her niece would not crumble under the pressure, like she had been so close to doing before she was cursed. The cub had asked about her Solaris heritage, likely having been hearing a lot about them from the Ruins. Kaia had resolved to tell her the story over hot chocolate and sweets, marshmallows included in the drink. Even if they might one day be enemies, if she one day returned to her birthplace, Cleo deserved to know.

It hurt her to think that there was a possibility she might one day have to fight her own niece.

For now, they were on the same side, Cleo was safe under the protection of two groups. Everything was alright. She sighed, placing the pot down on the table along with two mugs and a tray of cookies, buttered rolls and brownies. Now was not the time to worry about the ‘what-ifs’, she was going to spend time with her family and that was that.

The song drifts off as the children approach, a bell-like laugh coming from their aunt as she hears them. "For now children, these animals are my guests. They are not to be hunted while in our presence this time. Should we meet again however, their fates might not be so pleasant. Such is the laws of this world, friend can easily turn to foe and foe can easily turn to friend." She explains, extending out a wing as a few birds fly down so that they may perch on her.

"Come now, approach confidently but quietly and you'll be able to hold some of them while they enjoy breakfast." A smaller wing beckons them forward as she scoops up a small mouse in her paws, delicately stroking its head. "I used to have a friend who loved turning into things like this when I was your age, he was later my guard and closest confidant...we had a bond...but I haven't felt anything from him since I woke up." Her voice turns nostalgic, solemn, as she recounts her past. She remembered how hard he had tried to save her when she was taken away, pure fear on his face as he tumbled from tripping due to looking up at her being flown away. Back then there had been a drawback to his shapeshifting, he couldn't do it under stress. Grounded, there was no way he'd be able to reach them.

She was late, she knew that. Everything had worked against her though with all the excitement from the cubs. She had pulled one of the elaborate chairs from the dining room into the ballroom, sitting in it with a gold accented book open in front of her. Lily had requested a basic etiquette class for the group and she thought it rather fitting. Not just for a lady of her education, but for them to learn it at all. Breakfasts had been abhorrent at times, no matter how hard Dee tried to keep house. They could think of her as stuck up if they wanted, but she'd teach them basic manners.

She had sent npcs out into the mansion to gather her clanmates, telling them not to take no for an answer if the reason was an excuse. Even merchants had to know how to act so they could sell more. Kaia sat flipping through the pages, marking some with strips of paper as people filed in. Once enough were present she began speaking. "Alright class today we will be learning the basics of etiquette during casual speaking as well as during dinner and selling affairs. Some may believe this is irrelevant information but I can assure you it matters to some people. I may have been asleep for three years but some things just don’t change."
