History:
when it comes to remembering his childhood, jackson is very selective about his memories. he was orphaned at the mere age of three and sent into a religious orphange called st. william's institution under the care of pastor kevin o'reily. he would never remember his biological parents, nor would he really make an effort to find out about them.
jackson remembers life at the orphange as being extremely mundane and drab, recounting praying five times a day, folding his bed neatly every single morning, and rereading the bible in between his daily classes. on the flip side, he fondly remembers spending countless days playing with the other orphans and horsing around with the other boys in the baths, secretly slacking off and making fun of their christian duties.
what his mind has blocked out from his memory is the intense trauma.
when it first happened, jackson was six years old and he had no idea what had just happened to him. he trusted pastor o'reily, the man who had taken him under his care, fed him, clothed him, and gave him shelter. quickly forgetting about the events of that cursed night soon after, jackson continued playing with the other orphans, a naive, cheerful child who hardly knew how to work his legs. he was always falling and tripping over his own feet, a clumsy child by nature.

the second time it happened was less than two years later than the first and he remembered it this time. it was fuzzy, but just barely there. it was confusing, but jackson trusted father. this man who fed him, loved him, taught him, held him.
kevin o'reily was a deceivingly innocent man. he had a nice, handsome smile of straight white teeth and when he spoke to you, you felt comfort wash over you like a lukewarm wave. respected by most church goers, he was a heavily religious man who prayed nine times a day and loved the orphaned children under his care very dearly. incredibly dearly.
a kind... a kind, loving father.
years passed and the older he got, the more jackson realized something was incredibly wrong. the more he was around the pastor the more uncomfortable felt, remembering the hazy memories of nights he spent alone with him. he grew to feel nauseous whenever he felt whenever that warm, familiar smile directed at him. nonetheless, jackson prayed three times a day, ate gratefully, studied the bible, did charity work, volunteered, turned a blind eye to the things that happened behind doors, played with the other orphans, laughed, smile, grit his teeth at the fingers between his legs, prayed some, thanked the father for the life he had been given. everyday on repeat. ceaselessly. a good son, one of his father's favorites.
the more time passed, the worse the abuse got. by the time he was eleven jackson remembers being molested so much on a daily basis it was hard to count. he was so ashamed of himself, so scared to say anything, to speak up- they all were. they all were scared, but they pretended not to be.

witness accounts say his face was caved in so badly it was unrecognizable. there was blood everywhere, a horrible nightmare. twenty seven pairs of eyes had watched it all, watched in silence as the twenty eighth bashed the twenty ninth's face in on the spot until his agonized screams became nill. the pastor was declared dead on the site, the only reason why he was ever found because the neighbors saw one of the older kids stumble outside in the dead of night and collapse, covered in blood.
pastor o'reily had been a good man. loving, kind, generous, warm. a man of god, a good father. good man. he had been. had.

the orphans from st. william's institution was eventually split up up due to the decision of the local authorities(it had been an extremely controversial decision in the media). jackson spent two years being tossed around in the foster care system as he attended therapy, an unwanted child stained with blood.
he'd been deemed a problematic case who showed poor performance in school, often displayed aggression toward his caretakers, and continuously involved himself into skirmishes with thugs at his school(s). once he was caught with the unlawful possession of firearms.
due to nearly reaching the age of eighteen, jackson had been deemed a hopeless kid, but a few months ago he was sent into the care of a nice middle-aged couple who have really been adamant in giving him a second chance. willing to try anything, they sent him to camp redemption in hopes of setting him straight.
