Mulder doesn't know what he's doing going to something called a fire-show. It's like being deathly afraid of clowns and going to a circus, but something in him is curious about how in the world such a show could be pulled off. He intends to keep his distance and not stay for long though the reasons for it are much different than he expected. The fox keeps his distance, eyes widening to the size of those saucers that he's always chasing. Simultaneously, a sense of wonder and dread fills him and the fear of the fire clouds Mulder's brain with its smoke. It doesn't occur to him that powers could be capable of creating something like this, something that makes his legs turn to jelly just at the sight. No, he thinks it must be something much deeper than that, sinister even; and though he's never taken issue with Kai, he can't go trusting someone that can not only manifest one of his darkest fears but also make it capable of hunting him or anyone else. Is that what this is about, perhaps? A demonstration for using these creatures on their enemies? Mulder's hyperactive imagination is going, fueled by the flaming creatures that seem to live before him. Is Kai a demon...? To be able to make these he has to be... The fox shivers and backs off slowly, only to turn and bound off in the opposite direction.

Mulder isn't expecting some words like that from Breakdance of all people. She seems no nonsense and wasn't exactly convinced before when he was (looking back on it, admittedly, acting a little crazy) in the forest with the object. Perhaps it's because of the confusing nature of his own experience, but Mulder can't find it in him to hate magic or aliens that he so fervently hunts even though he suspects both played a role in his sister's disappearance. Just like his lack of want to blame all Exilers should they be responsible (a possibility), he won't blame all of the creatures he's hunting-- both cases in regards to the fate of his sibling He'd claim he knows the difference between hope and expectation, but the truth might not be so clear cut. And for someone that always wants to follow the truth as he perceives it, he's bad at being honest with himself of when he's really got his head in the clouds.

Slowly Mulder looks up from his book, scanning her face for any sign of joking though he finds trust in that rare variety of smile she's showcasing. Even with her scars, she's a pretty lady, especially when she smiles and he dwells on that a moment before what she said really seems to hit him. The fox closes the novel (a long winded, meticulous documentation of various ufo sightings throughout Argelos) after dog earring his page. The fox rises, slowly at first, only to suddenly pop up like a spring toy and bound over to her. His tail swishes excitedly and he flicks his ears all about, perplexed yet excited all the same. "What's changed your mind? Something happen?" Mulder's practically oozing eagerness, letting the force of his obsession show it's colors with only a small amount of hesitance before lifting a paw. "Oh, let me grab my gear." He does so, returning back with a large bag (relative; small enough for him to carry) in just a blink. "If we find those aliens, you won't let us get abducted right?" A breathy chuckle trickles from him, at least having enough self-awareness still to joke. He knows what people think of him sometimes, he just doesn't let it stop him.

He makes a face at all of the murdered stinkcats, not only for the smell but the concept of it too. Even past morality, wouldn't it have been better to let them live? It's not hard to track down something that's already dead, especially when its smell is so obvious. Had they been living, they could have run around stinking up the whole place and they would have been directly sprayed in the process of catching them. With it like this, someone with scent manipulation could fix it in a giffy. Unfortunately, Mulder doesn't have such a power. "Wow, this is dumb. But yeah, that helps," he murmurs, muffled through the paw against his nose and squinting through his watery eyes. After a few moments, the heated smell covers it some. "I'll look for some herbs to block it too." With that he turns, going to look for some strong ones.

Mulder had wandered away from the beach party after drinking a little bit more than he should have, only stopping presumably when someone stopped him. It wasn't a conscious decision to get shitfaced, but more a lack of awareness on how just a few drinks could intoxicate him so vigorously with his small body mass. So, someone once told him bread could soak up alcohol and so now he's looking for bread. Not in any logical place, but down the small coast of the alcove, because maybe there's a vendor. Why would someone be selling bread on the Exiles beach? Mulder doesn't know, but he's going for it anyway (he's chased much more farfetched things than a merchant after all and the alcohol tells him to believe).

So as he's walking the coast line, that's when he sees it. Squirming and rolling is a pink tentacle-like, otherworldly creature with little spikes on its head. Most disturbingly, it seems to be coated in something sticky, a substance that's alien. He's only been to the beach less than a handful of times in his life and only knows about some of the creatures (like the loving octopus that they encountered recently) from books so to see something like this whole inebriated makes his conspiratorial imagination go wild. The fox stares at it, slack jawed then gasps sharply and scrambles through the sands to it. "Oh my God! Oh my God!" He snatches it up with his paws as best he can, face twisting up as it slips back out of them because of all of the goo. Mulder struggles to try to grab it up, not wanting to put his mouth around something possibly toxic but dammit he will if he has to because how couldn't he? He's found an alien after all! Presumably a young one since it looks almost larval at this stage. As he's gawking, he hears the crunching of sand and looks up quickly, bowed over to try to grab up the hagfish with copious amounts of slime covering his fur by now. "Barghest! Look! I can't believe it! It's the real deal, I can't believe it!" He'll toss it in a bucket, ah yes, that's what he'll do. Then interrogate it. 'No, you take me to your leader now because Barghest is already here!' Mulder laughs out, both in glee at what he's "discovered" and his own thoughts.

Mulder felt a little imaginary sweat drop down his forehead at being somewhat late, offering a lame smile and swishing his tail. He took a seat with his clanmates, mentally trying to catch up on everything that's going on within the clan and with their enemies. It bothers him some to hear about the activities of the latter, knowing he can't do anything about it, so he just takes a deep breath and focuses on what he is capable of- the seriousness of his thoughts broken with a soft chuckle at the talk of the master swordsman octopus once more.

"I'll stay here. I don't feel like getting the cold shoulder again." He says with a little miffed huff. The party seemed to be fun for the Exilers at least, which is really all that matters to him, but on principle he's not marching back over there after that. Especially considering how hard it'd be to keep up with his clanmates anyway lest he get to piggyback on Barghest all the way. The thought almost makes him snort audibly, but instead he just shrugs lightly and takes a seat near Naomi and wraps his tail around himself.

"I'll help you Pyrrhic," he volunteers casually, even though he too is afraid of embarrassing himself and so he's not going to help directly per say. The fox trots over to Barghest and motions for him to lean down before turning his head to the side and pulling off his scarf. He aims to wrap it around the leader's head to blindfold his eyes. "Yep, I helped." With that he skitters the hell out of the way because he's not interested in getting accidentally crushed in the ensuing motions.

'Because that's my mother,' he thinks, but the words don't leave his lips. Instead he just nods even though no information is gleamed from the response. What he says is true in a way. He is an Exiler now and thus shouldn't care about outsiders, but seeing the torture begin- well, his stomach just can't handle it. "Ugh..." He's well aware that trying to intervene would be fruitless and unwelcome in his new home as this is an adult and is therefore fair game so he decides to just leave. "Thanks for the nothing...," he murmurs and turns quickly to flee the sight and sound of squelching blood and yells.

Mulder too usually avoids captures and tortures, simply because he doesn't have the stomach for it and knows that he can't intervene. Therefore only thing that brings him over here is the sound of someone's panic and it's only when he arrives does he realize it's a bad reaction to the abusive practice. He can't know the exact nature of the reaction Ralph is showing, but seeing his scarred form gives him a hint and the fox comes to stand beside Breakdance with a concerned look. He raises his little paw and tries to wave it distractingly to attempt to further pull his gaze fully away from the scene that the older female is attempting to block. "Break's right buddy. Come on."

"Boom. Revealed." His tone his playful yet he is truly hesitant to reveal himself as this is: one, a bird large enough to easily swoop him up and eat him up, and two, considering the blood, that was the fate of someone else recently. Regardless, Mulder holds his ground, the small fox flicking his ears up and offering an uneasy smile to the visitor. "This is the Exiles. What brings you here and what's your name?" Inside, he hopes someone else shows up soon, but he doesn't show any actual fear on the outside. Just the usual, expected caution toward an outsider.

"So whoever's the biggest pastry at the end?" He chuckles and decides to try for a double attack though he ruined his element of surprise by not keeping his big mouth shut. The fox pounces forward, attempting to boop Naomi's nose with a touch of berry he scooped up then hop back and tries to tag Ira's side with a smear of the drupelets while she is distracted with Breakdance. Of course, just like in a real fight, he takes no thought to an offensive strategy and leaves himself wide open to be successfully fruit massacred by whoever comes next.

Moldy came to stand beside Qiunn, standing protectively near the child before suddenly he eases off at the realization that this stranger wasn't a danger and instead the situation seemed quite the opposite. She looks like she's been through hell and the fox frowns with empathy though still wary. He looks around for whatever she seemed to be fleeing from but when he doesn't sense anything but the quiet sparse flora of the canyon and the little creatures within, he turns his attention back to the intruder. That's what she is, technically, something that the Exiles don't take much of a liking to yet he doesn't point that out right now. Really before he gets a chance to communicate much of anything, she's collapsed down and pleading with them.

The small fox flicks his ears back and frowns deeper before hesitantly moving over to the feline's side to try to examine her wounds. "Hey, we need some help over here!"  RADIOACTIVE He looks to Quinin then and motions for her to step forward. "Hey kiddo, can you keep her awake while I try to stop some of this bleeding?" Looking around, he doesn't see any thick foliage nearby so instead he turns, with a little reluctance, to tug off his own scarf and try to press it to one of the nastier wounds. "It's nice to meet you, Ruffian. I'm Mulder. Sorry we had to meet like this. You owe me a scarf." The little fox's tone is clearly a soft joke (surely some clanmate with water manipulation can fix it), trying to calm her panic to a degree.

He's excited to know himself, having some (positive) plans for whoever ends up in that position. The fox takes a seat to listen, ears perked up and a relaxed smile on his face. "Yup," he says in response to Tiny since she echoed his sentiments exactly. "Good luck kiddos."

Mulder comes trotting up after Barghest, a little caught behind by examining the area but he's here now none-the-less. After all, he doesn't want to be truly alone in enemy territory and he wouldn't be very useful to the current proceedings dead (though he's unsure if he'll be useful alive either). The small fox comes to sit at the Exile leader's side, glancing at Mercy before turning to look forward at the Veiler addressing them. At first, he thought he'd be nervous- and to a degree he is- but he finds his words flowing out with an unusual amount of certainty despite the situation. Maybe it's because his mouth and mind are really all he has at the end of the day.

"Factually incorrect. She hasn't been abused. Likely uncomfortable in a jail cell, which... sucks yeah, but not abused... Which I think is a pretty damn good deal considering where she was. And no amount of you saying she was changes that fact." A guy was eaten by a dragon the other day after all so Mercy's been in a five-star hotel compared to that. Even with his own moral grounds conflicting with this, he can at least acknowledge that. The fox rolls his shoulders to try to ease out the tension in his body, wanting to rebuke whatever she just said about Barghest but he's a big boy who can speak for himself and so does. These two surely can too and damn, do the screeching harpies ever shut up? He thought he talked a lot but he's a quiet mouse in comparison. Mulder's struggling to get another word in, but finally manages it again, his annoyance is enough to make his voice sound more confident than he really is inside. "We're not giving her back without a deal. That's all there is to it. If you don't want it to happen again, then at least hear us out."

Captures were entirely normal for most clans, that he recalled. Including their own. Or were they supposed to magically forget everything Shadow Veil has done to them in turn? Yet they were here. He shrugs, not intimidated anymore by the all talk, not talking back, and instead turns his attention to Barghest. If they were going to do something, they would have already instead of blabbing, but they won't because they don't want Mercy hurt. That was the point in bringing her, after all. And to prove she's alive, he supposes, his fear all but drained out by now. Pointing out how little he is (he's never heard that one before). Ball joke. Some more screeching. He shoots an almost sorry look to Mercy, not seeing the appeal of returning. When Charlotte finishes he waits a moment, takes a deep breath, and sits. "... Sooo, Abbi usually come this way? Maybe on a jog. Maybe coming to check what all this noise is about." Barghest said to wait for their leader so that's what he'll do, no matter the jeering.
