Lightningbolt raised his head. "Owlfeather, I need to go. I know one of those dogs. He killed my mother and littermates. I need to go. I don't care how injured am, but I'm not letting him kill any more cats," he meowed, determination and hatred lending him strength. It had been Spike that had killed his mother and littermates. He needed revenge on him, or else he would never rest. No one else was going to be harmed by his cruelness. Mistystream padded over to Lightningbolt. "Be careful," she mewed softly to her mate. Lightningbolt stiffened with fury as he saw Ambersoul, motionless, laying down with no heartbeat, and no breath.

"Yes, we shall! Traitor, do you have anything to say for yourself," Ravenkit yowled, glowering down at Rainkit, who cowered. Mistkit was glaring with mock menace at Rainkit. Swiftstream purred, then comfortingly drew her tail over Rainkit's back.
-
Lightningbolt waited patiently for Owlfeather's answer as Mistystream gazed lovingly at her mate, fear darkening his gaze. Shadowfur dipped his head in grief as he watched Ambersoul die. Lightningbolt was staring at Ambersoul's body, fury and grief darkening his gaze. Shadowfur comfortingly pressed against Dawn, relieved that she was ok.
-
Lightningbolt quickly gulped down a poppy seed to numb the pain in his leg, and some juniper berries for strength.
-
Ravenkit followed her, laughter twinkling in his eyes. "Game's over. I want to play with Nightshadow," he mewed.
-
Lightningbolt padded up to his former apprentice, and gently licked her fur with grief. "You were the best apprentice I could ever have had, and you proceeded to be a strong, loyal warrior. I'll always remember you," he whispered.
-
"We're going to play moss ball," declared Ravenkit. He gathered up a ball of moss, and flung it to Nightshadow. He's such a great father Swiftstream thought lovingly as she watched them play.
-
Lightningbolt's eyes were dark with grief and fury. "Let me go with the patrol, Duststar. Spike killed my mother and littermates. He's not going to harm any more cats," he meowed, determination and fury lending his strength. "I already ate poppy seeds and juniper berries, so please let me go," he begged his leader.
-
Mistkit leaped into the air and caught it. She glanced at Ravenkit, then threw the ball to Rainkit.
-
Ravenkit caught the moss ball easily, and saw how sad Rainkit looked. "Catch, Rainkit," he mewed before throwing an easy pass to her.
-
Lightningbolt looked up, startled. "What? Who's kit," he asked.
-
Mistkit purred as she caught it, and threw it to Nightshadow.
-
"Who's," Lightningbolt repeated. Shadowfur pressed against Dawn lovingly.
-
Ravenkit leaped into the air and caught it clumsily, and through it high in the air to Mistkit, who leaped gracefully into the air and caught it easily. "Look's like Rainkit and Mistkit are hunters, while Ravenkit and Ripplekit are fighters," commented Swiftstream affectionately.
-
Lightningbolt saw the kit, and quickly went over and gently nudged the kit over to all the cats.

"Time to go to sleep," Swiftstream mewed as soon as the yawn had escaped Rainkit's mouth.
-
Duskpool whipped around, and watched in shock and amazement as the two she-cats entered with kits dangling from their mouths. "Lightheart..............," she mewed, her voice trailing off.
Swiftstream purred at Nightshadow. "Since we're the only ones you can stay with us if you want," she mewed. -
Lightningbolt collapsed on the ground, and set his head on his paws. He remembered the hatred and fury he had felt as Spike and Wood arrogantly left the territory. "Go back to you twolegs, filth," he had yowled silently. Now he lay on the ground, and fell asleep as Mistystream rhythmically groomed his fur gently.
-
Swiftstream watched Lightheart respectfully. She had faith in the medicine cat, and vowed not to ever doubt her. "Welcome, Nettle," she called out warmly. "That's Lightheart, Nettle, and, er, kits," she told her kits. Ravenkit padded over to them boldly. "I'm Ravenkit," he informed them.
-
Swiftstream yawned as she woke up, and her shoulder felt sore because it looked like Ravenkit and Mistkit had been sleeping there. She rolled over, causing the kits to gently fall onto the mossy nursery floor. She checked that Nettle and the kits were okay, then went outside and stretched in the sunlight. She picked up a large mouse from the freshkill pile, and padded over to Nightshadow. "Do you want to eat with me? The kits are still sleeping," she mewed.
