MOTHPAW ♚
Skyclan - Apprentice - Female - 7 moons
― A small grey she-cat was pelting through Skyclan territory, paws pounding after the patrol she had just missed. That was the last time Mothpaw would let herself sleep in. The excitable cat always craved being out in the territory. Being confined to camp was just about her least favorite thing in the world. "Lavenderskies! Smokestride!" She called when the older warriors came into view. "Wait for me!" She skid to a halt next to the deputy, and sucked in a great gulp of air. Her chest was heaving but she grinned up at them each in turn. Her warm amber eyes were sparkling. Patrolling with the deputy sounded like a perfect opportunity to her. Certainly there'd be lots to learn! Mothpaw gave her pelt a quick shake, still a bit ruffled from sleep. She was finally catching her breath, and was already lifting her nose to sniff the air. "Think we'll come across anything interesting?" She mewed, tail tip flicking. She didn't want anything to go wrong of course. But maybe they'd come across something new. Or maybe she'd get to practice some fighting moves after all!

― Bright amber eyes looked up from the edge of camp. Mothpaw hurriedly swallowed up the last of the small thrush she had been munching on. She had gotten a great night's sleep and now had some food in her. She was ready as ever for some training. She got to her paws and gave her white chest fur a few quick licks, smoothing it down and then drawing a forepaw over her ears. She bounded up to the brown tom, and the cats that had gathered. "I'll join, Buckwheat!" She announced happily, paws kneading at the earth beneath them. She was always hungry to learn more and eager to prove herself to her clanmates.

― Mothpaw's grey form was just entering camp when she heard the Warrior's offer. A petite chaffinch swung in her jaws. Her ears pricked, and she was quick to head to the fresh kill pile. Small as the bird may be, she looked pleased as she deposited it onto the pile. Climbing practice, huh? Well that was part of what her clan was known for! It was probably her strong suit already but she was sure she could use the practice. "I'm interested, Foxgrin!" She called to russet furred tom as she bounded up to him. Her amber eyes looked upward, craning her head back to look up at the tree he stood beside. Her tail tip was flicking eagerly. The young she-cats energy was often overflowing. It wouldn't hurt to tire herself out with some more training, that was for sure.

― Mothpaw's whiskers were quivering as she listened to the warrior's instructions. Mothpaw knew fully well that hunting was not her strongest asset. This would probably be for the best. She only hoped she wouldn't embarrass herself in front of her clanmates. She leaned in towards the branch, drawing in a long breath. She was sniffing so intently that he muzzle was practically touching it. Finally, when she felt she had the scent down, she scuttled backwards to make room for the others. Okay. No peaking. She willed herself, sitting down. She clamped her eyes shut, and her tail tip flicked impatiently behind her as she strained to listen for Buckwheat's movements. He had barely given the instruction to open their eyes and Mothpaw was on her feet, stretching up on her white tipped toes and sniffing the air intently. She glanced in Smokestride's direction, and pricked her ears in the same way he did. He was, after all, the most experienced one here. Mothpaw finally lowered her belly closer to the ground, remembering that she had to commit and really believe this was a piece of prey that could be scared away. "This way maybe..." She murmured to herself, scooting forward with her nose twitching.

― "At least I made it though!" Mothpaw replied hurriedly, offering a sheepish grin. As soon as Lavenderskies mentioned something being off she replaced the grin with a look of determination. She lifted her nose, practically stretching up on her grey tipped toes to sniff at the air. If there was something to be found she'd be sure they did so! She was about to pad in a different direction and so some more sniffing when she heard their deputy moving. She paused, and her ears were suddenly pricked. Mothpaw had never crossed the thunderpath before. Her amber gaze was fixed intently on Lavenderskies. She watched the process of her crossing, her own whiskers twitching. She had never seen a monster before either and hoped that today would not be a day for that first.
Her tail tip gave an anxious flick when she finally crossed, and Mothpaw made no moves yet. She just observed, ears straining, for whatever it was they were looking out for. It wasn't until she called for them that she walked up to the paved path. She cast a look in Smokestride's direction, debating on letting him cross first before she did. But then she lifted her shin, as if changing her body language may erase her nerves. She copied what she had seen Lavenderskies do, placing her forepaws on the scratchy road and hesitating. With a quick glance in either direction she shot across it in a few quick bounds. She scrabbled up the fence and peered over it. She squinted, trying to get a clear look at everything. She wondered how many twolegs were just beyond their territory. She wouldn't like to have a run in with one of those today either. She followed the deputy's gaze and finally saw what they had crossed the Thunderpath for. "Oh!" She mewed, sounding a bit surprised. "They're lucky to be so close to a clan full of cats who can climb." She commented, and then nodded. "We should, shouldn't we? It'd be the right thing to do."

― Mothpaw was stretching out outside of the apprentice's den. Her tongue rasped over her grey pelt, smoothing it down and grooming after being out in the forest. She paused her efforts to look up at Foxgrin's offer. She watched as several of her clanmates and, never wanting to be one to miss out, was quickly on her paws. She dashed over to them, whiskers quivering. She didn't say anything, just plopped down near the older cats. She curled her tail neatly around her paws, listening expectantly. Mothpaw, clan born and raised, was a devout believer in Starclan. As young as she was she had yet to experience any life altering events or terrible pains. Certainly nothing to make her question her beliefs. She took great comfort in the idea of Starclan- their ancestors looking down upon them and guiding their paw steps. Mostly of all it was a nice thought to know that, when her time came, all of her loved ones who passed before her would be waiting for her. She just hoped that that would be many many moons from now.

― Mothpaw’s pale toes were kneading at the ground eagerly. “It’s the first thing I learned how to do!” She said, sounding confident. She still had plenty of space for improvement. But she had been practicing her climbing since before she left the nursery. Of course, that time was unsupervised, without permission, and ended with a sore paw. She wouldn’t mention that though. Getting up the tree was the was the easy part. Getting down took a bit more tact. But Mothpaw’s outpouring of enthusiasm had her ready to go. She tried to stand a little taller, apparently worried about being shown up by one of the older cats. At the very least, her still small size would give her the advantage of some extra speed.

― A small grey frame pushed its way inside of the camp entrance. She held a thrush in her jaws, and it swung as she walked. Mothpaw lifted her chin upwards, as if afraid the small bird would drag on the ground despite the fact that it wasn't close to doing so. She looked pleased with herself. She had started the day with a successful hunting trip and she couldn't complain. She had gone out solo which was perhaps not the wisest decision. But it had turned out fine in the end. She had the usual pep in her pawsteps as she dropped the bird on the freshkill pile with a soft thump. She began nosing around the pile in search of something for her own breakfast. She was just about to sink her teeth into a shrew when her amber gaze flicked upwards and caught sight of a small sleeping form by the nursery. She young molly straightened, up her whiskers twitching when she saw he had fallen asleep right into his morning meal. Her own hungry belly was quickly forgotten. She scurried over to the den, appearing a bit concerned. "Juniperkit?" She mewed, leaning down a bit. She went to touch her nose softly against the kit's shoulder in hopes of rousing him from his slumber. Although she hoped she didn't startle him in the process. "Are you feeling alright?" Her head tilted to one side at the question.

I'd love for Lav to mentor Mothpaw! Just based on the little bit of interaction so far I think they'd be a great fit together!

― Mothpaw's slight frame was just stirring from her nest inside the apprentice's den. Her eyes just barely blinked open and she didn't lift her head from where it was laying with her nose tucked under her tail. The young molly stifled a yawn and looked hesitantly at the entrance to the den, as if debating whether it was worth getting up. Newleaf was nearly here but that didn't mean the chilly mornings had gone completely. It wasn't until she heard a soft call from the clearing that she began to sit up, ears pricking. A firm frown formed on her face at the question. She got to her paws, flickering her gaze on the sleeping denmates that surrounded her. Her back arched in a long stretch, before she bounded out of the den in a few quick steps. She was semi-careful to avoid the other sleeping forms. She was in such a hurry to approach her mentor that she hadn't bothered to pick off the bits of moss that had attached themselves to her stoney pelt.
"Lavenderskies?" She started, slowing her pace as she approached her mentor. Even fresh out of a long sleep her eyes were already brightening, looking at the larger she-cat with some worry glimmering in their amber depths. "Are you okay?" She asked, and the question was clearly genuine. She swiveled her head, looking around camp, as if she thought there might be an immediate threat. Perhaps that's what was the matter. Whatever it may be she was fully prepared to help.

― Mothpaw finally sat down when she realized there was so physical danger nearby. She was looking up at Lavenderskies, amber gaze fixed intently on her when she began to speak. This was one of few instances where Mothpaw was silent. This wouldn't be the time for any energetic outbursts. Instead she just took in the words being spoken. Hearing her mentor, a cat she so respected, talk of her pains and troubles made Mothpaw's heart ache for her. She suddenly felt silly for ever being upset over something as trivial as not being picked for a patrol or simply being told she wasn't allowed to do something. What Lavenderskies had experienced was real pain. It was a kind of pain that was still a stranger to the young apprentice. She had had no great deaths or circumstances surround her. There were a few heartbeats of silence before Mothpaw offered a reply. "We all see how hard you work. And I know you're deputy but even deputies need help sometimes, right?" She said, hoping to reassure her. Her face brightened a bit at Smokestride's words and she nodded firmly in agreement. She may be young but she'd always offer a listening ear. She hated to see anybody hurting. She gave the larger she-cat a gently flick of her tail against her shoulder. "You know what will probably help? Knowing you're training one of the best warriors Skyclan will ever see!" She purred, grinning. It was a lighthearted attempt to get her mentor to perhaps smile. It was a joking remark but she also hoped it'd be true someday.

― Mothpaw came scampering into camp with a chaffinch dangling from her jaws. She looked pleased with herself, glad to have made a decent catch as leafbare released its icy grip on the forest. She had barely made it two tail lengths into their camp when her ears pricked. It was hard to miss Lavenderskies call. She was taken aback by the intense emotion coming from her mentor. She was quick to drop her prey on the freshkill pile, the pride in her catch quickly forgotten. Despite being rather removed from the situation personally, the fur along her spine began to prick as Lavenderskies went on. She cared a great deal about their deputy and about any of her clanmates. If harm was brought to any of them you could bet on Starclan that Mothpaw would want to be on the frontlines. It might as well all be personal to her.
The young molly came darting up to her mentor. "I'm coming with!" She declared hurriedly. Her round amber eyes were ablaze with determination and energy. "For Skyclan and for your son." She added in with a stern nod. She could feel her nerves making her paw pads tingle. Mothpaw was young she knew but if there was going to be any need for claws she wanted to be there. If things went south then this would be her first real battle. It would be an opportunity to prove to herself if it came down to it. She didn't want this to end in tooth and claw. But she was certain that Skyclan would show them exactly who they were messing with if they needed to. Her heart was already beginning to pound but she was ready.

― Mothpaw stayed pressed close to her mentors side. Her pelt was bristled outwards, mostly in hopes of appearing larger than what her true frame would suggest. Her tail was flicking carefully behind her. She could feel her heart pounding furiously in her chest but she wanted to imitate Lavenderskies' bravery. When they were faced with the Bloodclan cats she held her amber gaze steady. She young she-cat cat desperately wanted to interject a snarky comment. But she had the feeling it wouldn't help the situation in the slightest.
When they were prompted for evidence she visibly scowled. "We have no reason to lie!" She added hastily after Wildseas replied. The fur along her spine pricked in indignation. She couldn't let these city dwellers question Skyclan's integrity. And she was sure that Lavenderskies wouldn't let this meeting end without getting what she wanted.

― Mothpaw's unease began to rise with every new cat that arrived. Her eyes flashed with irritation at Wildseas' reply. The young apprentice's mouth opened to give a sharptongued retort but she clamped it shut when she felt Lavenderskies tail brush her shoulder. Instead she just narrowed her amber eyes and kept silent. She almost couldn't hide her surprise at Ruth's arrival, and she eyed her curiously. She had never met any clan leader face to face aside from her own- let alone the leader of Bloodclan.
Some of her anger seemed to dissipate when Ruth appeared just as unhappy about the situation as Lavenderskies was. Mothpaw was still, clearly, on edge but it seemed that this may not end in any bloodshed. Then again, that could change when the perpetrator arrives. She kneaded at the ground with paws anxiously, impatiently awaiting the tom's arrival so they could confirm that he was indeed the one who had harmed their deputy's kit.

― Anxiety was beginning to rise inside of Mothpaw, in tandem with the tension of the situation. She felt like everyone was just one wrong word away from a physical altercation. The young she cat visible blinked in surprise when Revolution admitted to the act. She could feel a growl rumbling low in her throat, the anger she felt on behalf of her injured clanmate returning. Everything seemed to happened all at once and all too quickly. The fur along her spine bristled furiously when she saw Wildseas strike. She took an apprehensive step backward, as if worried someone on the other side of the border may very well be next. She had been uncharacteristically quiet during this whole ordeal. She fixed Minnow with a scowl, "You can't call it just a mistake!" She hissed. This wasn't a mistake. The Bloodclan guard had acted intentionally. Against an apprentice no less!
She could do little but listen to the discussions between the Bloodclan cats. It wasn't until Lavenderskies was addressed that she looked up to her mentor expectantly. She hadn't a clue what she'd like done with Revolution. Mothpaw wasn't even sure herself what the best course of action was. She just hoped, whatever the outcome, that this would be the end of it all. As fiery as Mothpaw often was she would welcome an end to this situation.

― The fur along Mothpaw's spine made no signs of lying flat. The source of thi was partly due to agitation and partly due to nerves. This conflict seemed to be complicating itself the longer they stayed here. Her face tightened up in a visible scowl when Revolution snarled at Bune. Did this tom truly feel no remorse at all? Surely not all of Bloodclan could be that kind of heartless? Her gaze shifted on each of the cats on their patrol in turn while Lavenderskies spoke. Dishing out a punishment wasn't something Mothpaw ever thought she'd have to do. She had never seen anything like it done in Skyclan in her short life. She hadn't expected to have any say in it at all until her mentor addressed her. Uncertainty flickered in her amber eyes.
She was surprised at Smokestride's words the moment they left his mouth. The thought of that punishment made her stomach turn. Mothpaw certainly agreed that Revolution deserved whatever was coming to him...she just wasn't quite sure what that would be. "I certainly don't think he'd ever be fit for a guard position again." She growled under her breath. She just wasn't sure about physical harm though. She had never even been in a real fight herself and she was feeling a little out of her depth here. Although she did well enough at hiding it with her expression. For now she'd wait for the suggestions of the rest of her clanmates and, for Skyclan's sake, would stand by whatever decision Lavenderskies saw fit. It was her son who had been harmed. It should be her who gave the final word.
