Strange scents... not SkyClan, not WindClan. She was so reclusive it was almost laughable... she realised in that moment that she knew next to nothing about any of the other Clans, let alone their scents. There were murmurings; two cats, unfamiliar to Birdbones, and regrettably she seemed to be the first one to approach. Ugh... she hated greeting people. How uncomfortable it was. yet they could probably see her now in the uncovered landscape of the moors and it would look astoundingly weird to just walk off. "Uh..." She hesitated in her apprehension, jaw tightened, discomfort evident in her dainty face. "You- uh... can I help you? I- um, I, I don't know...." The ebony medicine cat trailed off, avoiding the piercing gazes of the strangers, bunched up all tiny, as if such a thing would make her invisible.

Usually she hated it when people messed with her stuff- Boasong surely knew the most that she liked things to be in a particular order and tended to get stressed out when it got moved around. With a bunch of horsetail clasped in her jaw from a... special delivery, the medic came across the little conversation, squeezing past (which was not difficult, given her twig-thin stature) and placing her collected herbs in the place she had allocated them. She seemed so content- though she likely wasn't, she was damn good at hiding it. In her trembling, obvious emotions, Birdbones envied her in some sort of horrible twisted way.
"Hah, I'm glad you enjoy it... y'know, I did the- the same thing to Hawkmoth when I was stuck in here as a kit," Birdbones said, some humour on her face. Little Birdkit, frightened of everything to the point where she had exactly zero friends... boy, she hadn't changed much, huh? How... depressing. "You'll- you'll probably still be made an apprentice. Just because you can't see- it, it doesn't make you unable to be a warrior. We once had- had a leader with no eyes," She certainly did not want to make him a good example- WindClan's leader, exiled by his own Clan- but... in this instance she supposed he was inspiring... ish. Birdbones turned to Whitelightning, something of a grin on her face. "She's very good at telling the herbs apart... I'm, uh, sure you could see."
Perhaps she should start looking for an apprentice soon.... neither her nor Boasong had one.

This couldn't be true. She'd been told, and it had taken her a few seconds, even as she had been running, to truly process it. She recognised this all-consuming panic, this ever-gripping fear that held her hart with long, filthy claws, relentlessly gripping her. There was no respite from this, from the truth she was about to face. Duckthroat, doubtful, asking her to come along with him to the Highstones. Birdpaw, she had been back then. Duckstar accepting her as a full medicine cat after Hawkmoth's disappearance. The quiet moments where she felt a friendship between them, and the lonely moments when she had never felt so far away. A world without Duckstar was not a world she had known, but the smell of smoke did not lie in its cruel message, and her own ashen pelt stopped in horror at the sight.
"Everyone away!" she yelled, uncharacteristically so. It was a wail of grief as well as an almost angered instruction- if people kept hurling themselves into the fire, she would have to tend to them, and would not have a moment to grief her friend. It couldn't be true; but StarClan could not hear her cries, for they kept the sight before her, the scent of death, and she knew it could not be a lie. "There's- I can't- I can't do anything..." she said, in hyperventilations. "We- we have to move... we have to get away, Brightshine, please- we- we can't- stay here..." her words trembled, shook under the weight of her grief, and she attempted to press herself up against the deputy. Her bony body was not likely much comfort, for she wasn't particularly a pleasant cat to embrace what with all her pointy joints, but... she would feel awful if she simply let Brightshine grieve. She didn't even recoil at Wilson's presence. There were unspoken words in the air; they would have to leave Duckstar here. Retrieve what was left of him when the fire cleared up. But everyone knew it.

Birdbones had slept in a little late that morning, enraptured by the effects of her dream. She knew she needed an apprentice- she should have gotten one moons ago- but she had always been taught that she had to wait for a sign that told her who to pick. The path of medicine was one that the ebony girl believed she had always been destined for, as much as she disliked StarClan... they had chosen this life for her, and it had suited her rather well, aside from the typical issue- a rule that she suspected about fifty percent of medicine cats were probably breaking. She knew for a fact the SkyClan medicine cat was... though, more solidly than simply suspicion.
The dream had been pitch black, and all she had seen were blurs of colour or motion, subtle enough for her to miss them. She felt utterly blind and imbalanced in the dream, as if she had no eyes or tail... and as a rush of cold air danced through her fur, her lantern-like eyes flickered wide, and she realised.
Poking her head out of the medicine den, it took great courage for her to move forward and look around. She... didn't often make these sorts of announcements... she tended to avoid appearing publicly so much that she doubted some of the kits even knew what she looked like. "Wuh-Windclan...!" she called, though her voice was still gentle... it could barely be dubbed a call, in its quiet nature. "I, uh- I have an announcement to make. Star- um, I think StarClan showed me a sign in- in my dream, and, and... well, it said that-" she cleared her throat. "The next medicine cat of WindClan shall be Coldkit. Once she- she has reached the age of six moons, she will- will begin training under me."

ShadowClan scent was not that familiar to her, as she thought... it was that of a loner, until she figured the marshy scent of her horsetail doses matched. Shadow, cunning, living in the marshes... she was so unfamiliar with the lot of them, for the two clans did not border each other and she did not often step foot far outside camp, let alone scurrying across Fourtrees to get to ShadowClan. Her nose wrinkled up, and lantern-like eyes fell upon the tom, a scarred face, half blind, treading a path through their territory. Oh, did she really have to have been the first one here...? She hated socialising, but her legs hurt and she was already here and it'd look outrageous if she were to just... run away after making direct eye contact with him.
"Um- what-" she stammered, clearing her throat. "Hi... what- what are you...? You stopped walking- uh... do you have permission to- to be in our territory?" she asked, and it seemed like an absolute task to get such words out, sputtered and breathless and reclusive as she always found herself. Trembling legs set her twig-thin frame upon the ground, and she looked on in worry, anticipating some violent act in her distrust and anxiety.
-
Birdbones hated Wilson- Blacknight, or whatever his name was. She'd never done anything to him yet he had always seemed to dislike her. She got awful vibes from him as well- simply seeing him around never failed to sicken her and make her feel anxious, yet... he was here as her deputy, now, and she was supposed to just... accept it? She supposed she would... she had never been terribly outspoken, and had no evidence against Blacknight, so simply held her tongue.
Until-
"No!" she gasped in disbelief from her hideaway in the medicine cat den, shock evident on her face, horrified. She never entered the crowds during meetings, preferring to hide away in the back or even in the confines of her den. But not today, no siree- she would not let this happen! She couldn't! Poor Cottonkit was going to get hurt, or worse, Whitelightning was right, and even in her frailty she stormed up beside him, wide golden gaze fixated upon the calico leader. Brightshine was kindly, enthusiastic but not an idiot... Brightstar seemed to be a different cat from the friend she had known and confided in for moons. "Brightshi- Brightstar, you can't do this. It's- in the name of StarClan, I can't- I won't allow it!" she pleaded, her voice trembling in fear for the poor kit... and herself.

just a question is the 'birdwatcher' in the favourite female category supposed to be birdbones??? -
Oh, what had she walked in on...? A pained expression creased her face up, but she found she could not bring herself to walk away, now. That would make her feel guilty, for fleeing from a social event... and how was she supposed to attempt to get braver if she didn't try? She supposed a simple meet-and-greet was a good place to start, yet... she still found herself feeling rather constricted as she came to stand amongst the group, avoiding the gazes of most everyone present. "M'Birdbones," she mumbled hurriedly, a name she had once dated so vehemently coming tumbling out as a normality. "Uh- medicine cat, if you- if you didn't know." continued the feathery femme, bony shoulder bunched, her skeletal form huddled in on itself.

"You shouldn't- just, just eat things, Cottonkit," Birdbones scolded lowly, coming up behind the group, in as firm a tone as her airy, gentle voice could manage. "If that had been yarrow you would have been sick all over the place.[/b]" The ebony-furred medic seemed somewhat amused, but was still on rather a high amount of stress, firstly due to some of her herb store being ingested. She was rather infamous among their small circle of medics for liking to keep things in a certain order, and one of the kits eating a herb without being diagnosed to have it was certainly stressful.. it was only lavender, thankfully, which just tasted horrible.
"I'll- um, I'll help you out if you get stuck, Coldpaw," Birdbones murmured, brushing her feathery tail against the other in greeting and preparing to watch the little seminar she had planned. "Why don't you teach- teach the Clan what marigold does?" she prompted. Marigold would be one of the easiest to pick out for the girl due to its strong, flowery scent, and one of the most common she would have to remember. It was certainly the herb Birdbones found herself using the most.

She stepped back, terror in her gaze of gold. Who was this calico looking at her? Not the Brightshine she had known, that was for sure. She smiled, but it wasn't the same, and when she spoke it was with a venom that she had never heard lace the voice of Brightshine before. Stumbling backward as Brightstar spoke her words, Birdbones shook her head, stunned. You wouldn't. And she spoke words that horrified Birdbones to every degree, the true nature of her terrible name which she had never spoken a word of to anyone except Tawnydove. "How did you-" she stammered, huddling herself up, staring at her paws. "I only preach so- so no one else will end up with a name like mine! I don't- I..." she couldn't defend herself, not in front of all these people. Her weakness of the mind did not allow it. How could she not hate them, after everything they did? Yet, she still listened to them... she listened to them when they told her to pick Coldkit, she listened to them when they graced her with this horrible name. She'd spent her whole life doing nothing but what they wanted her to do, and she still got punished over and over again for it.
But then, it went on. Birdbones had trusted Brightstar not to tell anyone of her secret, not here, not now. Even in her state, she had trusted her. But she spoke her darkest secret, her most forbidden story, before everyone, and all Birdbones could do was watch. Horror filler her expression, twisted by distress and overwhelming sorrow. How could she do this? "I don't," she defended herself weakly as the calico began to march away, leaving Birdbones herself trembling in her wake. She turned to the remainder of the Clan, sickened. "It's not true- it's not true!" she claimed. "The name thing is- but- but Tawnydove and I are just friends. You- please, you all have to believe me," her voice, her thin form, trembled all the same. She could not bear to look at them, and simply stared at the pale moor grass at their feet, breathing laboured, her world falling around her.

LOL IT'S COOL I GET THAT FEEL I do it all the time fjhdbnk

It was no coincidence that, the day after the announcement of deputy, the moment her world had fallen apart around her, she was nowhere to be found in the morning. Birdbones' schedule was a predictable one- most of the day she could be found in the medicine cat's den, for her weak bones did not allow her to get very far. Whenever she wasn't around camp, she would never disappear- she could be found always close by, so that someone would hear her if she were to ask after help. That morning, though, her nest was empty, her herbs undisturbed. Her scent was stale and hours old; she had fled, that much was surely certain. Where to...? That wouldn't be hard to figure out, either.
/ this is only temp guys! she will be back in a few days fhjnk

The sun had not come up long ago, and Birdbones awoke from where she slept at the border between ThunderClan and SkyClan. Eyes widened in considerable shock, the ebony femme for a moment forgot why it was that she was there- ah. Yes. It did not take long for the horrid memories to resurface, the reality of her situation to set in, and for her to feel once again as if the world around her was dissolving into dust. Hah... it was funny, wasn't it...? How everything could fall apart so quickly. How trust could be torn in a second. How fear could be so swiftly conjured.
WindClan knew the truth about her and Tawnydove now. Even if they did not believe it, even if they had bought her denial, they still knew the truth. And it sickened her, how Brightstar could betray her trust like that. Declare in front of the entire Clan what a horrid monster their frail little medicine cat really was. Brightstar, who Birdbones had thought was her friend... did she truly see Birdbones as a horrid, sickening presence? All this time? Had every effort Birdbones had given to trust her been burnt to ashes?
She has slept on the border that night, thankful for her thick fur and the nights being no longer freezing. Still, she felt weak as drowsy yellow eyes flickered open, and a sigh wracked her body. Her bones cracked and clicked as she stood, a wince distorting her face. "Well that hurt..." she murmured to herself rather pointlessly... though she had no one to talk to here but herself... she wondered, how long would it be until the dawn patrol found her?

MY HEART OMG....
-
Her legs shook as Blacknight approached her, throat dry as he spoke- he dared to speak of the code, before her. In all her fear, an anger flashed in her eyes. It was a spark of fury and hatred that had never surfaced on her face before, and a snarl, though it was fleeting, twisted her face. "You- you know nothing about me," she said lowly, refusing to hold his gaze in her terror, turned away. But as he twisted around to make his final comment, her eyes flashed again, fire within the tender golden confines. "Don't pretend like you care," she hissed with finality, letting him go and succumbing to the emptiness within her. Her eyes lost their anger, lost everything within them, and she stared at her paws, beyond saving.
She looked at Whitelightning in a plea, leaning into him for a short moment. She wanted to believe him, yet how could she not feel utterly despicable after all was said and done? She parted her lips to speak, but no sound came out- only a small, weak whimper of sadness, a squeak. She wanted to thank him, but... she didn't want him having to associate with her. "Not- not really," she answered Lilypetal, voice empty, a shell of a body left behind in the destruction. It was all the answer she could give, plain and honest and simple. She wasn't alright, not as long as she was here.
Coldpaw approached, the face she had been dreading to see, and Birdbones looked at her with reproach and agony. She sounded so upset- was this what Birdbones was doomed to be now? No matter what happened, people got hurt whenever she was involved, even herself. She was meant to heal, yet she only seemed to harm. "I didn't lie. You were chosen to walk this path by StarClan." she spoke plainly, voice cracked and trembling with emotion, her expression shellshocked. "I believe in StarClan... I just don't like them. Not after what they've done to me." Had they exposed her hatred of them to Brightstar, too? Was that why Brightstar had turned against her so suddenly?
"Excuse me," she murmured, and offered one last lingering look to those surrounding her before abruptly getting up and disappearing into the confines of the medicine den, waiting until she could hide away somewhere further astray.

Birdbones was relieved that out of everyone who could possibly have stumbled upon her in this state, it was him. She was grateful, uncontrollably so, of the fact she'd get to spend even a few moments with him alone before anyone else showed up. He arrived at her side and she took no liberties in leaning against his flank, exhausted despite the fact she'd just been sleeping. She felt extra weak today- physically and emotionally, weighed down and practically dragging herself around. "Tawn...ydove." she breathed with relief, but drawled out the rest of his name as she sensed other cats approaching. One moment, one moment was all she asked... but she should have known it was beyond her reach.
A group approached- she knew Sedgeroot and Honeypaw, but not Sparkpaw, who introduced herself kindly. Birdbones offered her a smile, but it was a rather weak one, and did not hold much weight for her expression fell almost as soon as she had dared to curve her lips. "WindClan is a- it's a mess." she murmured, voice shaking, all the queries swirling around in her mind. She seemed empty, as if she wasn't entirely present, barely reacting to the things happening around her. "Brightstar returned- returned from the moonstone like- like a different cat. Our deputy- he hates me and- and he doesn't care about WindClan, I'm sure of it. And- and Brightstar, she apprenticed a four moon old!" cried the ebony femme, looking into nothing with horror in her eyes. Cottonkit- she was not Cottonpaw to Birdbones, and would not be until she was six moons old- Cottonkit was going to get hurt, especially with careless Blacknight as a mentor. She could not bear to stand idly by and watch. "I tried to- to speak out against it but- but Brightstar... she betrayed my- my trust." she looked to Tawnydove. He might be able to guess what secret had been spilled, the secret WindClan knew about. "None of you should go there. And-"
She paused, nauseated, looking at her paws. "I need to- um, please can I stay here, just for a couple of days? I need to... be away from there..." the charcoal girl commented, voice low and barely more than a whisper. "I walked here last night.. slept at the border. I couldn't- couldn't spend another night there." What had happened to the Clan she had once loved, the deputy she had trusted? As soon as she had gained leadership she had descended into some sort of madness, tearing Bird's heart out for a crowd to see.
-
She had not been here long, but devoted every moment to observing the unique landscape. The forest canopy and clearings were all so wonderfully different to the expansive moors that WindClan inhabited. It wasn't a bad different, nor a good different. Simply... different. Though, Birdbones was never one to enjoy the concept of change, so did not invest much of her time dwelling on the concept. She would go back to WindClan, of course she would; she was here with Tawnydove so he may calm her nerves in the way only he could, but they both had apprentices to train, Clans to heal. Perhaps the day would come when they could be together, but that day was not today. For now it was simply a frail, faraway dream, but something that enraptured her.
WindClan scent found its way to her, and she rose in her slow-moving tracks, shocked. Was there a search party? Simply some political patrol? Her apprehension lead her forward to investigate from the foliage, and big golden eyes befell Whitelightning... alone. Alone, she thought. She hoped. "Whitelightning," she breather, coming to him as fast as she could. "Why- why are you here? Not to- not to bring me back..." Her voice sounded heartbroken at the mere concept. "Please- please don't make me go back there, not yet. I can't- I can't do it." I can't face any of them. She could barely face Whitelightning himself, vehemently avoiding his gaze.
-
It was no secret Birdbones was from WindClan; she was only here temporarily, after all, and most cats knew her for being the medicine cat, of all things. She often wondered why the path she had taken had given her such an image- she had never wanted to become well known, never wanted people to look at her and know her name. She'd rather live happily, in the background of everything where she was safe from judgement. Still, her home Clan's name caught her off-guard, and the shy ebony femme took a step forward, lantern-like eyes wide with apprehension. "They're going to... to WindClan, you say...?" she murmured, gesturing to the basket that Sparkpaw had been working on, her voice trembling with fear though she did attempt to conceal it.
