It felt strange holding a meeting like this. He had no idea how to phrase the multitude of things he wanted to say. He stood on the stone that Always used to hold meetings from and looked conflicted for a moment. What if he wasn't cut out for this like he thought he was?

Oh well. He needed to suck it up and deal with it regardless, unless he wanted his Clanmates to eat him alive.

"Ruiners. gather," called the tiger. "For those of you who haven't already heard the news, Always has disappeared. We have search parties being sent out for her as we speak, and we're keeping in close contact with our allies in case they find any information on where she might have gone. The night before she left, she told me to step up as your leader. She refused to answer any of my questions and insisted that she couldn't stay. So here we are." He took a breath.

"I haven't seen Youta around in quite some time, so he's demotied. I also want to extend a warning to Angelbeats~ . If you could pick it up a little, that'd be fantastic." He glanced around at his Clanmates. "I'd like Nightingale.` and jace b. ecuador-vires to step up to Second Tier and violeta. to step up to Third Tier for now. If you all keep up your activity, you'll move up in the ranks just fine." He nodded to each of them in turn.

"I've also been messing around with some of our old traditions. In my opinion, we just had too many to handle all at once. It made it impossible to keep a schedule of all of the events being held, especially in a Clan this slow. So we're doing away with the Dagon and the Dommiel. Instead, you will now earn your Lion title and the right to a Blood Oath by showing your dedication to the Ruins without being asked or assigned a task. So it's on you now. The Red Trials are still on. I have also revived the rank of Priest and Priestess, so if any of you religious types want a quick boost in rank, then show your stuff and I'll think about it."

This was a mouthful. "As for alliances, I'm doing away with the concept of neutrals," said the King. "So the Blackheart Rogues are moving from a trial alliance to a full one. Volary Flights and the Solaris Kingdom are now fair game. I'm also adding the Tribe of Storms and Stars as an ally." He glanced down at the ones who had been around for the discussion of who to attack. "I'm leaving the decision of who to attack in a full-scale raid first to Warlord Kukiko . If any of you want to go anywhere else, either do it yourself, or go through her. You're welcome to go annoy anyone who isn't an ally as much as you like but don't come crying to me if you get hurt. But I want to see more action here. Go capture people, torture them, make their Clans come begging to us for their returns. I want to see blood, understood?"

He thought that was everything. If not, what was another week or so to wait? He flicked his tail. "I think that's everything. If anyone has any questions, speak now. If not, meeting dismissed."

The duties of a leader were hard, Stone had found. But this was by far the hardest task on his to-do list.

The Tribe had given him refuge after he spent years on the run from nothing, never staying in one place for too long. They had taken him in and treated him like family. Even his own mother had lightened up on him a little, and he had done the same in return. He never got the guts to confront her about abandoning him at birth. He didn't think he ever would.

But the Ruins were much more ruthless than this place, and he didn't want to be spread too thin if something ever happened in one of his homes. So he had to make a painful decision. He had to leave the Tribe so that he could better take care of his new charges in the Ruins. And it fucking killed him inside to think about it, but it was what needed to be done. The tiger took a breath as he reached the steps of the castle.

"Tribe," he called, as if he was addressing his Clan, his tone sad. "Things have happened in the Ruins, and Always has disappeared and left me to lead in her place. This is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, but to better rule my Clan, I need to leave the Tribe."

He took a long breath. This was harder than he thought it was going to be. "I'll never forget the kindness and hospitality you've all shown me. I'll never forget the friends I made here, and I will definitely come back to visit whenever I get the chance." He smiled slightly. "I've arranged with Blazestar for the Tribe and the Ruins to become allies. You're all more than welcome to make the trek out to the desert to visit if you want to." He didn't see why anyone would, since the desert was so harsh, but he loved a surprise.

"Thank you, all of you, for the good life you gave me when I joined here. Thank you for being my friends. I'm gonna miss you all like hell, but I promise you won't be able to get rid of me that easily."

Stone cast a glance in the direction of Yuuki as he glared up at him. He knew it was going to be difficult for him to win the support of many of his Clanmates. Yuu especially so. He didn't expect the lupurca to trust him at all, not after his fiancee up and left with no warning, without ceding the power of leadership to the next in line. Stone felt the most unworthy in front of the Walker. He was supposed to be the one in power, not Stone.

"As I said yesterday to Violeta, I will be taking Deadmist as a surname," he replied, glancing next at Piratecrown. Another one who he was going to have to work to gain the trust of. "I've renounced my previous surnames due to the treatment my family gave me in childhood. So you no longer know me as Stone Beneath Still Waters Kunninglik-Dixon, but simply as Stone Deadmist." He didn't know that this kid was going to be such a stickler over traditions, but if he was going to make a stink about it, then he'd let him. "If you want to complete the tasks on your own time, then by all means. But it will not win you your Lion title necessarily. I want this Clan to be functioning, not bogged down by unnecessary games."

//ty lmao, I think I'll be okay but I'll probably find a co-leader at some point if I need to lmao

Stone smiled fondly at his brother. They had been through hell and back together, and finally reunited, and he was just up and leaving again. It hurt him to do this, but he was glad that he said he'd visit. "I'll be looking forward to it," he replied to the man in the child's body. He wondered if he'd have his tiger body back by the time he came to visit, or if he'd still be stuck in that little serval body.

Hasseltii, however, made the tiger soften further. The little creature had become a good friend of his, between sharing duties and just being stuck together most of the time due to the smallness of the Tribe. It was her reaction that really tore the male up. He let out a heavy sigh as he glanced down at the redback clinging to his paw, his eyes drooping slightly. "I'll miss you too, my friend," was his soft reply, gazing down at her. "I'll be sure to visit the Tribe as often as I can, too. I'm not just gonna disappear. I promise."

//getting to watch this go down from both sides of the coin as stone and strat (and also party who accidentally adopted her) is so fun tbh

    Lastbastion Aeternum.

    Oh boy.

    Yuuki's co-leader.

    This was gonna be bad.

Stone arrived on the scene just in time to catch onto the Veiler's words about their Queen. Oh boy. Was it going to go this way? Or-- no, she was looking for someone? The feline hummed as he padded over to where she and Violeta were standing, an invisible brow quirked. "We've had a surprising amount of newcomers lately, but none of them resemble that description," he replied. "Those eyes would be easy to spot if she had turned up here." He hated to be so curt with her, especially when she was clearly hurting, but what else was he supposed to say? "I'm sorry to hear that she's missing. If we get any word of her, I'll relay it back to your Clan myself."

He glanced down at the basket of gifts. A peace offering? Something to show that she wasn't here to avenge Yuuki's lack of a promotion to King? Maybe. "Thank you for the gifts," he added lowly. "Is there anything I can get you for the road? Something to help keep you energetic on your search?"

Stone was amused by the way the Violeta so often used her powers to her advantage. She liked to be sneaky and catch others by surprise, it seemed. The tiger, on the other hand, figured that his presence was imposing enough for him to get what he wanted to out strangers on the border. Dark stripes moved against the pale sand, paws sinking into it slightly with each step. Green eyes watched the unfamiliar stranger from the border, as well as Violeta as she shed her invisibility and made herself know. He let out a small chuckle. The King paused beside his assistant deputy without a word, considering she had already asked the million dollar question. He just waited, brow quirked.

As glad as the King was to have joiners arriving, he did not like when they just walked in when they owned the place. "Always Dead isn't here," replied the tiger firmly. "She has been missing for the better part of a week and is considered to have either abandoned the Clan or died."

It was harsh, but sometimes the truth hurt. The search parties and the help of their allies had brought forward nothing. Always had left no sign of her presence in Agrelos. Stone would forever be hopeful that she'd return, but the situation seemed grim. "I'm Stone Deadmist, the King she left in her place." He offered a dip of his head to his fellow tiger. "I may not have been here during your first stint in the Ruins, but I'm glad to have you back."

"Maybe I'll take you up on that offer," replied Stone with a hint of an amused smile, "But you're right. You need to rest. Feel free to take any open room in the main pyramid that you'd like." Stone had moved around so much through his adolescence and adulthood that he barely ever heard the tales of great leaders, or ones who survived their share of trials and tribulations. He figured that Always had to have stuck it out for a long time, considering how dead the Ruins were when he arrived, but he hadn't quite grasped just how long she had been there.

At the sight of the mark of the blood oath on the female's paw, the King nodded slowly. "I trust that Always knew what she was doing when she allowed you to be oathed," he replied. "You're fine by me. Welcome home."

//grumpy yuu is such a legend honestly

A wave of unease hit the tiger as the newcomer spotted Yuuki and then questioned how Stone had become King and not him. That had been a big topic of discussion lately, it seemed. To make things worse, Stone had no way to back up his side of the story. Always was gone. No one else witnessed her ask him to take power. No one else witnessed the male ask why over and over, only for her to dodge his questions and insist that it had to be him. While he slept on the idea, he had tossed around the thought of letting Yuuki step up in his place. however, as Violeta said, he had a very important job in the Shadow Veil as well. Was it fair to put the stress of two Clans on the man? Or was it selfish to take the throne for himself when Yuuki had been around far longer?

"He's right, he didn't give it up," he replied to Petra, casting Violeta a grateful glance for her explanation. "Always didn't give me much information as to how she came to the decision, besides a passing mention of Yuuki's life in the Veil. And she's gone now, so I don't know when any of us will get the closure we need on the matter." He desperately needed that closure. With Yuuki breathing down his neck, it was all he needed.

"Made your decision, Kukiko?" asked Stone as he padded up to where she and Crim were standing. He knew how much the dragoness wanted to get on with the fighting, and how the anticipation had nearly made her shake as she had to wait and make a decision. He remembered the argument several days prior in which the Clan had to convince her that the Exiles weren't a safe target yet. No, first they had to start with someone more their size.

As he approached, he knew that she was waiting for something. He had a feeling that this would probably have to do with her decision. Why else would she call everyone towards her? She didn't care much for anything else, and he most certainly knew that.

    //super late but welcome!!

Stone was somewhat glad to not be in the main fighting force as well. He figured he'd leave that to the ones who were the actual forces to be reckoned with. He would do a much better job taking up the rear anyways. He could use his plant manipulation to snatch up anyone who tried to run away from the fight, tying them up like steers with thorny vines. That seemed a lot more appealing than running into the fight headfirst.

"Understood," replied the King, allowing himself to roll his eyes as the dragoness calling him an idiot to the newcomer. Some people he just wasn't going to win over, it seemed.

//I will never be able to match that g o d l y muse but welcome!!

"Don't force yourself to do anything more than you need to. We can get someone to help you out if you need it." The tiger lumbered over with a rumble of a reply to the stranger. "I can get our medic JUNEBUG A.W. to come and help you out. I'm afraid neither of us really have any medical knowledge ourselves." He figured that Yuu wouldn't be super happy about being asked to help save some bleeding-out stranger on the border, especially when, like Petra said, it wouldn't mean very much to any of them if the fellow just died there, but the Ruins needed as many members as they possibly could lately. Anyone could be useful right now. "Welcome to the Sanguine Ruins. I'm Stone, the King."

The smell of all the foods lining the tables made Stone's mouth water as he approached the scene that Alunpeyt had set up. "This is one hell of a feast," mused the King with a smile gracing his tired features. He ran his tongue over his lips as he surveyed the food. He didn't want to eat too much, so he wasn't weighed down during the battle tomorrow, but a little partying wouldn't hurt, right? Besides, this food was all sourced straight from the desert, so this had to be what all of their predecessors stocked up on before a big battle. Maybe this would give them an extra kick? "Thank you for setting this up, Alunpeyt. Nothing like a little celebration to distract us from te thought of the raid for a while."
