Melodyrose wasn't someone that Heatherpaw was close to but she often found herself following close behind the warrior. She was Heatherbloom's sister and she could feel her late mentor's presence around the girl. When she left to go on a border patrol, the medicine cat apprentice tagged along to see if there were any herbs she could find left in the territory. Everything they had seemed to be in short supply and Heatherpaw was growing anxious for the remaining moons of leafbare - especially when she was clueless of what to do.
Spotting the tall RiverClan medicine cat on the border, the blue point apprentice formed a smile. RiverClan's medics had always been kind to her and she trotted forward with no fear, unusual for the normally anxiety-filled feline. Coming to a full stop a few feet away from the hug, she caught the tail end of the conversation. Heatherpaw's ears dropped at the words exchanged about Heatherbloom. Shaking away the grief, the smile returned to the pretty she-cat's face and she purred lightly to Rootlegs, "Hello." Two taps of her right paw accompanied the greeting. "I'm Heatherpaw, I don't know if you remember me. Thanks for coming." Several more paw taps followed her words.

Her day thus far had been occupied with mundane activities, sorting herbs and checking on elders. Every now and then she removed a thorn from an apprentice's paw. Other than that, she was pretty bored and tried to recite the few herbs she knew to herself. There weren't many that she and Heatherbloom had been able to go over but she knew the basics. They grew together. A pang touched her heart at the thought of never learning from her beautiful mentor again. Rootlegs had offered his assistance - he had already began teaching her herbs beyond the basics, moving quickly. It was a good thing that Heatherpaw was smart and a hard worker, because the information had to be retained rather fast. She was slowly getting the hang of things.
A screech interrupted her wandering thoughts and the apprentice's head snapped into position. It was a clear cry of distress but she made no immediate move for fear took ahold of her, freezing her paws in place. Only when another voice yowled and then her own mother's voice could be heard giving commands, that she began to move. Heatherpaw knew what was coming - someone was hurt bad. The blue point worked her paws and maw to form a nest in the small den, packing it full of moss. Not knowing what to expect, she grabbed what she knew, laying it before her. Cobwebs, Poppy seeds, Goldenrod, Marigold - the only ones she knew to treat what she assumed was going to be a rather terrible wound from the sounds of the cries.

oooh friends with heather? she's a bit older but loves these babies since she was there to see them be born c:
heather will most definitely try to steer her in the right direction/act as an older sister

Poor Heather is uh .... broke rn. Losing her father and Heatherbloom has taken a big toll on her so please give her fluff ;u; I'm better with open threads because I forget about/lose muse for private threads but I'm open to either!!
Open to:
- friends/best friends ( easy, though she's very shy at first! )
- enemies ( not rlly a fan of bloodclan but other than that she's a sweetie so this would probably be difficult )
- bully her ( she taps her paw when she talks so y/c could make fun of her for that )
- help her learn medicine ( pls she only knows the basics )
- crushes on her
- exploring buddies
- get her into trouble
Iffy about:
- capture ( she needs fluff but possible open )
Closed to:
- long-term romance ( plot already in the makes *wink* )
- maim/kill
If you have an idea that's not up there just ask!! I'm really open to anything! Her tags are in her signature but I will link them here as well.

"What is really the point of standing around arguing about it like children? I'm a child and I even know that yelling at each other about the issue isn't going to change anything. Everyone's opinions are what got this entire problem started." Possibly the most she had ever talked consecutively, Heatherpaw approached the large group with a frown. She was not normally so outspoken but she found the whole situation ridiculous. Tigerpaw and RiverClan were not the enemy - Ivyleaf and her group who had started it were. Stagleap shouldn't have been hunting on the Sunningrocks but Moonwatcher shouldn't have disciplined him in front of an outsider. Her mother was her best friend, well actually, her only friend and she loved her dearly, but she needed to know when to keep her cool. Not every cat was going to follow her word and she would need to learn how to handle it far better than this.
"Nice seeing you, Tigerpaw," the blue point apprentice meowed to the stranger. "My name's Heatherpaw if you ever need anything. I apologize for this turning into a problem. " With a swift dip of her head and several taps of her right paw, she turned to Moonwatcher, rubbing affectionately against the larger tabby as she proceeded in the other direction.

Heatherpaw's whole being seemed to stiffen at Rootlegs almost asking about her mother and father. Her best friend. Taken from the world too soon. It was hard for the small medicine cat to imagine StarClan being giving instead of cruel. They had ripped her childhood away by putting her in this position, had lay waste to ThunderClan, and taken Asphodelpaw and Heatherbloom away from her. It was all in one fail swoop and Heatherpaw felt like she had landed right on her face in the midst of it all.
Nodding to the older medicine cat, Heatherpaw took a seat in front of Heatherbloom's grave. Lowering to her stomach, she touched her nose to her mentor's resting place. A tear threatened to escape but she held it in, not wanting to seem so weak. She had to put on a brave face. She was the Clan's only medic right now.

hello loves <3 i feel like i should say this in here because i know a lot of people don't have discord but i want everyone to feel welcome and i think some people have a hard time because our board is a little loaded with private threads ( maybe they can be put in the fourtrees section instead? ) and i've noticed a lot of open threads only have one to two replies, sometimes even zero.
i know we're all busy and we all have threads/plots but to help newcomers feel welcome, can we all just attempt to make a post in an open if you see it has only a few replies?

Her nose had been to the ground, maw slightly parted as she tried to locate the scent of a specific herb she needed. Looking for it had been stressful since there was still a layer of snow dusting the ground of ThunderClan's territory. She had been so concentrated on looking for it that she hadn't realized she had wandered towards the thunderpath. She probably would have kept on going until she was practically in the road if it weren't for a stranger's voice interrupting her thoughts.
At first, she thought she was going crazy - which honestly wouldn't surprise her. But then she saw the chocolate and cream form of the tom across the thunderpath and tilted her head quizzically. What was he saying? A car had zoomed by as soon as his maw opened and she was having a hard time hearing him. But something about the tom made her think he could be friendly and someone to talk to so with her tail, she pointed in the direction of fourtrees. It wasn't that far to her left and his right ... they could meet there without the sound of cars interrupting them.
Once she was sure he understood what she meant, she trotted in the direction of the gathering place.

Heatherpaw was stirred by the familiar voice of her late mentor's sister. Lifting her head and blinking her tired eyes, she realized that Melodyrose needed her help. Before long, the blue point had jumped to her paws, icy blue gaze wild with worry. She had only been asleep for a few moments, for she napped when she could, but was instantly awake when she was needed. There was something wrong with Russetkit. Wasn't that her ... uncle? Yeah, something like that. Blackstar and Redstripe will kill me if I let something happen to their son. A worried groan escaped her throat, and she exited the den to follow Melodyrose to the nursery without bringing any herbs. First she would assess the symptoms and then return to her shelter to get herbs for the kitten.
Stepping into the nursery with light steps, Heatherpaw moved to stand by the kitten. The first thing she noticed was how skinny the kitten was. Being born in leafbare was not ideal for a litter and took it's toll on their health. Lifting a light blue paw, she placed it on his side gently, trying to hide how nervous she was feeling. "Hey, Russetkit. Remember me? My name is Heatherpaw and I'm gonna make sure you're all better," she purred to him lightly, surprised at how easy it was for her to speak confidently to him. "Can you talk to me about how you're feeling?" His cough was obvious, but she was wondering if there was a running nose or itchy eyes, or anything else to go along with it.

Heatherpaw had been reluctant to leave ThunderClan. What if something happened and they needed her? There were a few that knew the basics to hold the injured over until she and Rootlegs could be reached. She convinced herself it would be fine but every day it seemed like something new. Her clanmates were dropping like flies and she had no way to help them without the proper training. So she finally agreed to follow Rootlegs back to RiverClan to shadow him. She was nervous, no doubt, but had made good conversation with the tall tom on her way to their camp, something she wasn't used to.
Now, she sat by his side, small and skinny and petrified as she gazed at the unfamiliar faces in front of her. A few scowled, but many smiled. Rootlegs' comforting words made her shoulders relax and she gazed up at him with soft blue eyes. He explained what he was doing and then jumped on a rock. Her eyes zeroed in on his paws, how they tapped three times before she spoke and the child's head tilted in awe. She did almost the same thing - her paw tapped incessantly while she spoke. What a peculiar habit that the two shared.
Before she even realized, his speech was over and the tom was mingling with others. Shuffling her feet nervously, Heatherpaw suddenly felt how truly uncomfortable she was weighing down on her. She was all alone, knowing no one - and all she wanted to do was return to her mother's side. Taking a shaky breath as an ebony stranger approached, she tried her best to put on her friendliest smile. Her words were polite, not disgusted or rude and she sighed lightly with relief. "Thank you," she murmured softly. "What's your name?" She wanted to remember the first friendly face in RiverClan.
