❝ WE'RE APATHETIC AND THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY ❞

coldkit shivered - ironic, considering the little one's name sake. breathing heavily and squirming towards the closest source of warmth, the tortoiseshell kitten would let out a faint, warbling cry. her warm, dark world had turned one pale shade brighter, and a hell of a lot colder... and she really din't like it. After a minute, she simply gave up, sighing and wheezing before going still - only the movement of her lungs beneath her flanks showing that she was even still alive. only just born, and already she was learning to stick with what was simple, easy, and worked well.

Coldkit enjoyed days like this - days where her clanmates were mostly out of camp, when it was quite and calm and peaceful. It was simpler that way, and she liked that. She didn't have many friends here - no, she was to distant and apathetic for that. Or at least, thats how they all saw her. And while she supposed it was somewhat true, it wasn't entirely - after all, apathy usually required one to not care, and she was just the opposite. Coldkit cared to much, so much in fact that already it overwhelmed her and she had begun to bury those emotions in her chest as best she could. And that was way she enjoyed these days, these quiet, simple days. She felt happy, and calm, and at peace - instead of scattered at hapless and anxious.

"one... two... three... four..." Currently, Coldkit was quietly counting pebbles - she'd found some pretty, smooth, black and white pebbles scattered around their temporary camp, and she was entirely content in counting, separating, and neatly organizing them. Simple and neat - that was always best.

This young molly is Coldpaw, a seemingly apathetic she-cat who prefers to live an organized, simple, minimalist lifestyle. She often seems apathetic, cold, and distant - but in reality, it's simply a way of over-compensating for how overly attached and emotional she can get when someone does break down her walls and gets close to her. She's is rather submissive and go-with-the-flow, causing her to be easily ordered around or manipulated. She's also very kind hearted and protective - if she feels someone is being bullied or at a disadvantage, she'll do her best to protect them. Coldpaw is now 6 months old, and mentored by Moonwatcher (thunderclans deputy).

    Some plot ideas include:

    - becoming friends (a bit hard due to her outward persona)

    - becoming enemies or rivals

    - telling her stories

    - teaching or training her

    - going on quiet walks

    - finding/giving interesting objects

    - manipulating her

    - ordering her around

    - her protecting y/c from a bully

    She is however, closed to:

    - death

    - killing others

    - purposefully hurting others

    - litters

    - romance (theres another post here for that)

    - getting/causing maiming or major injuries

Coldkit did not respond... at least not at first. Instead, she continued to softly count until all nine pebbles - three black and six white - had been sorted, before finally turning her pale sea-green eyes onto Redstripe. "A game?" she stated slowly, blinking owlishly before tipping her head to the side veer so slightly. "What kind of game?" It was a simple question, but the way she said it was odd - a mixture of curiosity and disdain filling her voice and making it sound quite blunt or rude, even though she had not meant to be.

Her gaze softened ever so slightly, just a bit, as Hazelkit and Stormkit approached. "I'm going to keep them." she'd say, just the slightest bit of pride now coloring her tone as she glanced and nodded at her nest - the immaculately kept pile of soft moss had a neat ring of pebbles - and a few feathers - encircling it. A small, polite smile crept onto her muzzle at Stormkit's praise - if there was anyone she truly wanted to impress, it would always be her family.

"Mum." While her voice was as quiet as ever, Coldkit had actually gotten up - albeit slowly - and come to press her muzzle against her mothers chest. She cared deeply for all of her family - her mother, her brother, her sisters, her father - it was just hard for her to show it without the dam exploding and everything else rushing out as well. So she settled for a warm, small smile and a faint happy purr to show her love instead.

After also accepting care from her father, coldkit would pause and think for a moment, before quietly speaking. "I'll be deputy." it seemed fun after all - and besides, it was just the six of them, so she supposed it was okay to loosen up just a tad bit.

Coldkit had been drawn over by the commotion - something which she hated. Why couldn't people just be calm, and quiet all the time? Why did they have to have fights with their clanmates? Fighting should be saved for enemies, for protecting the group. Sighing, pale icey optics watched from the shadows, her brown and silver fur lightly dusted with ash from the breeze.

Coldkit was glaring. Yes - glaring. The kit who was always calm, quiet, subdued... was currently a seething ball of fiery anger. If she wasn't so small, she would have rushed to Blackmoon's aid herself, and thus the small dilute tortie was padding over to the two, her icey blue eyes cold. "Are you okay? Who was that? Why did he do that to you?" the questions were asked slowly and softly, but there was bite in her voice - starclan be damned if she didn't find something she could do to help this she-cat.

Coldkit might have - sort of- maybe- snuck out of camp this morning. And she might have hid in the shadows, covered in ash as she'd seen a few clanamtes do, watching the newer npc apprentices learn to hunt. And it seemed rather easy - "keep your body low, tail sticking straight ahead... check." she whispered to herself, doing just that in the center of what was left of the training-hollow. The area was empty, so she figured it was fine - she doubted she'd get caught. "hind legs ready to leap... front legs to pounce... and..." she pounced - her prey of choice being an opportune leaf that had tried to flit by on the breeze. To her mild surprise, she caught it, but then again- if there was one strong-suit Coldkit had other than her apathetic facade, it was her quick-learning mind and her preference to follow orders near exact, so long as there was a good explanation or reference point.

Coldkit was indeed around - in fact, she was actually behind her brother on the other side of the makeshift camp. So of course, there was only one thing for the small kit to do - sneak up behind Stormkit, and attempt to scare him. Stealthily (for a kit at least) the brown and silver and white molly crept forwards, before gently pouncing, aiming to pin her golden-furred brother down with a soft "Roar."

❝ WE'RE APATHETIC AND THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY ❞

Coldkit spent a lot of time by herself. She did not daydream, not like Hazelkit was - with all her big dreams and great ideas. She was not friendly and kind and sweet the way Skykit was either, nor did she run off on any great adventures, or play interesting games like Stormkit did. Compared to her littermates, Coldkit was boring, dull, simple. Every action, every word, every thought - for her, it all served a purpose... even if she was the only one who knew and saw what they were.

Coldkit was intelligent - quiet, observant, and withdrawn - but still highly intelligent. She did not flaunt her knowledge, nor openly show most of her curiosity. But she studied hard - as quick a learner as she was, she felt... no, knew, that like with every one else, practice made perfect - so long as you practiced correctly. And so, she spent some of her time studying, learning, practicing - hunting moves, battle moves, herb names, insect names, what certain animals and prey ate - she studied all of it, found out all she could. And then, she kept that knowledge, right there in her mind, to be used some day when it became important.

Life for the small tortoiseshell-tabby kit was simple - blissful even. She was neat, organized, collected - her nest was immaculate, her 'trinkets' all sorted out, well kept, well organized. That was just another way she liked to spend her time - collecting beautiful or intriguing items, no matter how small or boring or simple they seemed. Like the smooth black and white pebbles she'd washed, sorted, and counted. Or the soft goose feather - that she groomed and kept immaculate, which lay at the edge of her nest. Or the small, silky smooth, ruby-red fish scale she'd found by the river - although, she had lied and said she found it in camp - which she stared at every night before she fell asleep.

They were all things that made Coldkit who she was, and as she sat out in the moonlight, staring up at the stars and the sky, she thought back on it all, and couldn't help but smile.

"M-mum? Are you... are you okay?" for the first time in a long while, Coldkit actually stuttered - she was worried. What would happen if her mother got sick? Would she have to leave them? Would she die? Her thoughts were surprisingly dark and chaotic, and she flattened her ears while waiting for a response.

❝ WE'RE APATHETIC AND THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY ❞

Ears folded back, coldkit would allow herself to be carried away - for once not because it was simpler that way, but because she was to worried to even try to fight it.

    // and 'm out

❝ WE'RE APATHETIC AND THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY ❞

Coldkit did in fact, know she wasn't allowed out of camp. However, that had yet to stop her brother from leaving, and she was sure nearly every kit in the clan had or would do so at some point in their time. So she just stared blankly at Redstripe, one invisible eyebrow raised as if saying 'so?'.

However, as her mother came over, the rather aloof kit puffed up every so slightly in pride, and while she still seemed calm and apathetic, there was a slight gleam in her eyes that hadn't been there before. Nodding, she'd fall back into the stance, doing as her mother told her. She decided to totally ignore everyone else's presence, focusing on Flameseeker and waiting for her approval - or lack of, if she'd done it wrong.

And then stormkit came over, and she glanced at him - as soon as her mother responded, she'd dart ov3er to him, her face still nearly impassive but her eyes kind, and she'd attempt to nuzzle her brother gently, as if silently apologizing.

❝ WE'RE APATHETIC AND THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY ❞

Coldkit couldn't help it - for a quick moment, her walls came crashing down and soft, feminine bubbles of laughter escaped her thought as she fell into a fit of giggles. Stormkit was funny and adorable - she'd actually genuinely scared him with her half-hearted attempt at doing so. Allowing herself to be gently rolled to the side, she'd give a small glare of indignation as he swatted her, before her features mellowed and her gaze softened. "So what did you wanna do?"
