The Paladin Trainee's eyes were sympathetic as they skimmed over Aurelio. He imagined turning things to gold must be stressful; he could only imagine how he would feel if that was happening to him. He didn't think he'd be able to handle it. "You're hardly a kit, Aurelio. You're far too mature!" Not to mention higher-ranking than he was - which he didn't object to and in fact found greatly amusing. "However," he said, nodding to Rosemont as their boss appeared, "you are both welcome to come." He knew very little about both the golden apprentice and the cowboy Commander, but perhaps now would be a good time to get to know them better. "Let's head off and others can join us as we walk."

The blue tabby strolled off, vaguely aimed toward a small pond he knew to be about a half-mile away. He glanced back to ensure they were following. He was glad they were going swimming: today was surprisingly hot for mid-September. The water would probably be very refreshing.

Hi there! Welcome to the BlizzardClan September Choice Awards! Here are the rules.

    1. Do not vote for yourself.

    2. Do not vote for more than one person per item [exception: ship categories].

    3. Voting will close this upcoming Monday.

    4. Have fun!

The mood around the Clan had felt a bit...grim lately, or at least felt so to the Paladin Trainee. Algernon had never expected so many bad things to happen in quick succession, though admittedly for most people it had only been two bad things. He was the only one counting his hearing impairment - except possibly Leifsdottir, who he felt probably kept track of everyone and everything around with that impassive face and eternally watchful gaze. But he hadn't anticipated being so impacted by the problems plaguing BlizzardClan - though he realized now that this was an oversight. Obviously whatever happened to the Clan would happen to him too, for good or for ill. Thus far it had been good, and now it was... well, far from good. He had been wondering if his resolve to stay would waver, but no: he felt as powerful a sense of debt and belonging as ever.

The mostly deaf Resurgam was huddled on the opposite shore, his striped coat fluffed out and his half-closed eyes on the water. He was just resting, really, preparing to go out ans give hunting another shot; but when he saw a few ducklings begin to follow Rosemont a grin unfurled on his lips. Algernon pushed himself upright and trotted around the edge of the lake, watching as Leifsdottir, Aurelio, and Narukami reached the Paladin Commander first. "What a lovely family." Mrowed the tom in an enormously impish fashion, wraggling his eyebrows at Rosemont as he paused beside Aurelio. Aware of the boy's grief he attempted lightly bump his shoulder without glancing over. Just a tiny movement to indicate that the golden apprentice had his support if he desired it.

The Paladin Trainee was on the ground today because it was boat inspection time. He had no idea what made them tick and sometimes feared they would suddenly quit working and they'd be left without a means to and from the islands. So he'd made it part of his routine to designate a few hours every few days to inspecting them and ensuring their continued operation. Today was that day - but it looked like he was going to be interrupted. A curious smile appeared on the blue tabby's face as he roamed over, catching the friendly scent of the Solaris Kingdom. "Hi there! Can I help you with something?"

Time for another meeting. Algernon hurried over and sat as close as possible to Aleksei, hoping he'd be able to hear the announcements. Once he was settled he exhaled deeply and began to think, whiskers twitching. Meeting by meeting went by, and each one provided a backdrop to the changes going on in BlizzardClan as a whole and in the Paladin Trainee's life itself.

The blue tabby cat stared up and listened attentively, sorrow unfolding over his face as Aleksei addressed the topic of Sundance's murder. That was easily the darkest moment he'd seen since joining - but to his relief he did not have any urge to abandon ship. The news got lighter as the meeting progressed and the Resurgam sighed softly, contently, albeit with considerable bittersweetness.

Being promoted had been... unexpected. If he was being entirely honest he had not understood what Aleksei saw in him - still didn't, actually - especially not since he'd lost most of hearing. But he was happy as a Paladin Trainee - in his eyes it was a better way to serve the Clan that had saved him. And if the enigmatic Leader wanted to promote him higher, he knew he would accept. His policy thus far had been - and remained - to show his appreciation for being able to live here, and he would do so in whichever way Aleksei saw fit. The blue tabby arrived shortly after Gabriel, eyeing the stranger. "You're in BlizzardClan, in case you were wondering." Offered the young male, smiling slightly. His green eyes were curious as they lingered on ok Eel.

A deep purr of amusement came from the green-eyed tom's chest as he prowled over. This entire scene was...kind of hilarious, and while he felt bad that Kady had to deal with an infestation, what better place to have a mouse problem than in a Clan full of cats and cat-adjacents? "Soup's on, eh?" Algernon chuckled as he surveyed the writhing group of rodents. "Kady, didn't your mother teach you not to keep food under your bed? This is what happens when you've got crumbs in your room!"

He was getting stronger. Day by day, patrol by patrol, he was getting stronger. He had put on enough weight to dispel the look of unhealthy thinness, and to his delight he'd even acquired some muscle. He caught a glimpse of himself and felt moved almost to tears; he looked...normal. Healthy and in shape and somewhat strong, as well as tall and with lively green eyes. He couldn't believe he got to be that person, and he was desperate to show that he was still grateful beyond words to BlizzardClan for making it happen.

"Does anyone want to spar? I need some practice." The mostly deaf tabby called this out from the middle of camp. What better way to celebrate his increase in strength than by getting some battle practice in? He was a terrible fighter; he needed all the practice he could get.

To Algernon's surprise, things were not actually going especially well in BlizzardClan. The death of Sundance had put an exclamation point on what seemed to be a slump in activity and overall mood - or at least that was how the Resurgam was reading it. Many of the problems - Mingan on the loose, BlizzardClan being without a proper medic - were beyond his ability to control, but he could do some things. And so the striped Paladin Trainee was sitting near the obelisk with a worn burlap sack next to him, looking hopeful but apprehensive. "If anyone wants a gift, please come over!" He'd spent a long time scavenging for these, and was proud to say he'd found something for everyone he'd met in the Clan thus far. Whether or not they would like them was a different story altogether - but it was the thought that counts. Right?

    //this was his ooc task!

The Resurgam had become somewhat addicted to walking. Or just... patrolling, he supposed was the proper term. But nothing satisfied him more in this season of his life than roaming across the islands, exploring. With his newly healthy body and a mouthful of peppermint leaves, he felt like he was reaching new heights of contentment and fulfilment, even if it was tempered by his hearing impairment.

Presently Algernon skidded down a gravelly incline, eyes on the prize below him: a wide, deeply blue river. It moved at a very slow pace, and looked like a prime candidate for the last of the summer swimming. When he reached the riverbank, however, and made to enter the water, he let out a shout of surprise: because there was no water. There probably had been, at some point, as there was a gully cutting across the land; but now it was completely grown over with some sort of extremely tall, silky, vibrantly blue grass. It flowed and rippled just like water, and from a distance it appeared just like a regular river, you but was undeniably plant life. Now that he was down here, he could hear the grass whispering as the breeze caressed it.

The white-chested tom was happy that someone was nearby to witness this - and he was especially glad it was Kady. He held a lot of fondness for her in his heart and it was rather beautiful to see her slow improvement. He wondered, absently, if anyone had felt like that about his recovery. "It must be incredibly loud to you." Said the Paladin Trainee, flashing her a wide smile. "'Cos I can actually hear that grass moving. Isn't it amazing, though? I wonder what's causing it to be like that..."
