    Dunekit

Dunekit smiled lazily upon entering the scene, his posture relaxed. Ah, stars? Hm. They definitely were interesting. Tiny little spots of energy, buzzing in the sky, shining just for the world. Dunekit wondered if anyone would ever shine just for him. If anyone ever did.

“StarClan, hm?” The fawn brown child chuckled. He didn’t believe in StarClan. Coming from outside of the clan, where Ravensong found him, he had never believed in a heaven. Dune liked to believe after he died, his spirit would go to some other creature. Like a beetle or a lion. Anything else.

“If that’s true, I wonder if someday there will be so many stars, the whole sky will be bright white, full of so many stars”

Dunekit was terrible with feelings. He didn’t really understand his own most of the time, and he didn’t know how to comfort someone if they were feeling bad.

    It was strange.

The fawn male sat down nearby, not offering any words of sympathy to Beekit. He only sat there, hoping maybe somehow his presence would let the yellow tabby know that someone was there. Some else knew what it was like to hate the world and everything because life wasn’t fair.

Dunekit loved social interaction. It made it easy to stop stressing and worrying about life. He could be swept away in an intriguing conversation, or playing a simple game like this one.

“Make way for the moss ball king” the boy joked sarcastically, a lazy grin on his maw as he sat down nearby.

Huh. It looked like Hazelmoon was already here. Ratbreath was close nearby too. They were good warriors, Dunekit thought. Hazelmoon always acted kinda like a robot. His face was always kinda blank like he wasn’t really focused. He seemed nice enough though. Ratbreath was kinda mean, but not to him or the other kids. She was witty. Dunekit loved wisecracks. They always made his day.

Green eyes alight with interest, the solid fawn child sat down next to Miraclekit, a lazy smile on his maw. “I’d love to play, if you’ll have me” He chuckled softly.

Without a warning, Hazelmoon whacked the moss ball over to Dunekit, and his tired smile widened a little, as the boy caught the ball with his paws and swept his eyes between Hazelmoon and Mira.

As he was about to hit it back to the mocha colored adult, Dunekit swiftly knocked over to the other kitten, an impish smile on his face. “Think fast, Mira!”

Glancing over to his adopted sister, Dunekit offered Annie a small smile.

She was older, and of a different litter, but he still cared for her like family. And damn if Ravensong didn’t have a big family. Dunekit has so many brothers and sisters, it made him dizzy trying to keep track of them all.

“Hey, Annie” the boy smiled lazily calling her over. She looked distressed, but Dunekit was sure a game might help. In his mind, games were always great for forgetting what world he lived in. His mind could focus on something simple. Something safe.

“Yeah! It’ll be fun! Look, even a grown-up is playing” the boy gestured over to Hazelmoon, a teeny smile on his maw.

Ears twitching, the solid fawn male was woken by the racket everyone was causing, which disturbed his small nap.

“Hm?” He mewed distantly, sniffing air in the very crowded nursery. Hm. Something was missing.

Bleary green eyes staring at the chaos, he picked up only a few words. Though the only two that really stuck to Dunekit were ‘Beekit’ and ‘missing’.

Oh. Oh jeez. Beekit.. ah, the skinny yellow tabby, right?

“It’s okay, it’s okay” the boy mewed, sitting up to be next to his sister, Anenomekit. “Hey, come on. Beekit is smart. I think. I mean, he doesn’t eat a very good amount of food nstuff, but he’s smart enough” the boy tried to help his sibling calm down, though a panic had set in. Beekit could die. He really could. He could die all alone and nobody would be there with him. He could starve. He could be gone. Forever. And ever.
