There was not much for a person like him to do around camp. They couldn't really pull their weight ( in an literal and metaphorical sense ) but they wanted to do something productive while they'd put themselves on lock-down for the time being... until things smoothed over in that ordeal. They'd effectively been left very bored and making flower crowns day-in and day-out got boring pretty quick when you weren't very good at them anyway. So, they began to look for something better to do and the idea they had in mind was making gift baskets.

The one they had made for Solaris Kingdom had been easy. They put a bunch of stuff they thought the clan might like in there, despite not knowing of everyone's favorite things and whatnot. It was the thought that counted, right? Or something like that... They remembered when Chione gave them their first flower crown, one woven with blue and yellow flowers. It was prettiest thing they've ever seen and they wore it upon their head until the flowers died and wilted away, their vibrant petals turning gray and drab. They decided that they would make one just to make one... Or maybe they'd give it someone they appreciated.

So the trainee began working on it, wandering around camp to find the things they wanted to put into the little basket they had. The first person they saw they'd walk up to, pale rosy gaze looking bashful as they inquire, "Hey... wh-what sort of things would you put in an gift basket? That's not, uh... made for another clan but f-for someone you like?" Oop. That sounded a bit weird. They didn't know any other way to ask the question though.

trash should,,, totally capture this kid. maybe trash can steal them from their lil' cabin in camp? then they'd feel unsafe even in their own home and this'll probably really mess with them! trash can keep them there until blizzardclan comes and gets them or they just escape by themselves - but i wanna ask if trash would try to get gray to stay in the exiles? you know, the more bodies that can fight the better and all that?

i'm also hella eyeing the potential plot with trash kidnapping sofie's brother

If Gray had known that Kady thought they'd had a crush on someone, their face would have turned a million shades red. They probably would have had to bury their face in the snow to keep the heat from spreading any further. They would honestly just... flat out die. The latter was an exaggeration to a mere theory but, knowing Gray, being super flustered might just be a possibility with their weak and fragile heart. The trainee tilts their head to the side, tails wavering behind their small, fluffy form as Kady turned her attention onto them and they were looking a little hopeful. Gray liked Kady. She was often rather nice and she seemed like she was good company ( and looked like she could give some good advice ).

"Do you know anything they like? Food? Flowers? Hobbies?"

"Uh, well..." Gray tilts their head to the side, taking into careful consideration what sorts of things the person they had in mind would like. "Well... she has a garden. So she's gotta like flowers, right?" They didn't know the kinds of things Nesaphei grew in her garden but... they just sort of assumed it was flowers. "I don't know what kind she'd like though..." Sweet-smelling daffodils or pretty forget-me-nots? They didn't know and they didn't want to ask either, scared that they would spoil the surprise gift.

    "Kady!"

The scarfed child jumps a little at the sudden holler of the vice-leader's name, their fur naturally fluffing up as a result of their jumpiness. Their cherry red gaze dart over to the odd, wrinkly creature that hobbled forward and blinked up at the much larger animal. He had such huge ears and gray skin! So many wrinkles... and no fur? How was he surviving the frigid cold? Gray themselves could hardly step outside of their cabin without freezing one or both of their tails off. Even now they shivered faintly in the chilly air, the mere thought of having no fur ultimately displeasing to their mind. However this stranger seemed nice at the very least.

Their fur smoothing down, Gray's ears flicker as Plutarco speaks, suggesting flowers and such. Carnations sounded pretty... And so did buttercups and daisies. They were all flowers that smelled good too. Maybe Nesa would like those? They were about to happily voice their agreement, to express their gratitude to the other helping them out, when their next couple of sentences catch the trainee totally off guard.

    Love?

    Crush?

"Wh-Wha... What?" Oh. Oh no. This was a big misunderstanding. A huge misunderstanding. They realize the error of which they spoke, their paws flying up to their mouth subconsciously as their face slowly became the equivalent to an ripe tomato. They felt so hot, that they thought steam would be rising off of them. "No..." They mumble, shaking their head, "I don't... I-I don't love anyone." They felt miserable. No, they felt like their namesake: gray. God, they were so stupid! "This is for a friend... It's for miss Nesaphei. She... she really helped me out recently. I just wanted to say thank you." They explained meekly, slowly removing their paws from their face as they sigh aloud into the air. Was that what Kady was thinking too? Or Candela?

They looked towards the girl now, fictive brows furrowing. "Well... there are some flowers that do grow in the winter. One is called, uh... pansies." Gray knew that from looking at a book they found back at the Tribe.

Gray thought that they were doing well as an ambassador despite not being that much of a people person. They had signed themselves up for ambassadorship to get to know more people outside of their clan, to get over their crippling shyness. It seemed to be working... they think. It seemed like a pretty easy job anyhow - they should be able to handle the stuff that came with it just fine! The curious thing was when Aleksei called them to join in on a meeting of sorts. Now that made them a little nervous, naturally so, because they couldn't fathom what it could be about. Maybe something fun was happening? They guess they'd find out soon enough.

The ivory kitsune seems to be one of the first to arrive for now at Aleksei's beckoning, right after Fadedcolors, and they offer a bit of a smile towards the two of them as they slunk over to take a seat.

Gray had found comfort in following the stronger people of BlizzardClan around. After all, there was safety in numbers, right? They were too scared to go outside by themselves anymore so going with other people that would tolerate them would be the best thing for them. But upon stumbling across this, he was... quite frankly a bit scared. The trainee pressed up against Aleksei almost subconsciously, their small body fluffing up in alarm. "W-Wait, war?" They inquire, "But... But can't we just talk about this, mister Aleksei? I don't want to see war... It's scary." Or so they heard. They have not seen what war was like but they've heard it described to them by elders who had seen a lot in their days. "If she wants to be mean, let her be mean. We can just ignore her, right? It doesn't look like she can even do anything!" They stare hard at Pippa, pink eyes glimmering with dislike for the femme. Gray had never not like anyone before. Pippa would be their first.

Their eyes widened as the conversation went further and further beyond the chance of saving, a feeling of deep dread settling within their chest. They shook their head slowly in disbelief and they struggled, struggled to keep that cold neutrality they always wore on their face. But they couldn't help it. War scared them. They cast an incredulous glance in Faded's direction, their lips curling downward at his words. "That's stupid. There's always a way to negotiate peace. You just don't try hard enough!" They snort, scrambling back from Aleksei and the other adults. Why couldn't they just... just not do this? War wasn't scary? That was such a big, dumb lie! They backed up until they lingered around the edge of the group, their ears flat against their head. They nudged Armi with their paw, shaking their head slightly. The adults were being stubborn and this lady, whoever she was, was hellbent on getting what she wanted - which would evidently be nothing in the end. "Armi... let's go home. They're not gonna listen to us." Whether or not the boy would follow them back to camp, Gray begins wandering off towards camp on short legs.

    / outtie !!

WISHING THAT SOMEDAY I'LL FLY INFORMATION

They initially didn't really hear the steps that were advancing in their general direction, primarily because Gray just thought it was a warrior or someone else just walking on by. But to their surprise, a voice greeted them mere seconds later. Gray jumps a little, their fur instinctively fluffing up and their face immediately beginning to burn in what would be sure to be an embarrassing encounter. They swallowed the oxygen in their throat, nearly coughing, but they catch it a second later in a quiet sigh as pale pink eyes flicker over to the kid that approached them.

It was someone they hadn't met before. They had probably seen them somewhere around camp but, in all honesty, they never really noticed the other until now. Gray had taken to staying in their cabin but maybe it was some time before then? Probably. Gray blink as they were referred to as "mister." Mister? Did they look like a boy? "Um-" They wanted to politely correct the other but he decided against it immediately, out of fear that they might not take very well to it. Gray simply tilts their head when the kitten introduces himself. Armisticekit, huh? And, oh, they were interested in their name?

"Uhh..." Dumbly, they look off to the side, as if unsure but then a slight smile is brought to their face. Someone was interested in them! Or... maybe not. Maybe this child was just bored and came up to the first person he saw, being them. You shouldn't get your hopes up so high, Gray. "Rolling Clouds Across Gray Skies... or, uhm, just Gray." They say abashedly, more or less mumbling out their name. "Nice to meet you, Armisticekit." They pause a moment, then say, "Oh, uh... and you don't have to call me mister. I'm only six months old." They didn't want to grow up that fast.

/ sorry for the late-ish reply!

WISHING THAT SOMEDAY I'LL FLY INFORMATION

Gray was hardly even listening to the meeting, having spaced out somewhere in-between new members gathering to attend and others just quietly chattering away as they waited for Aleksei to speak. They absentmindedly fessed with their scarf, being brought back to reality when they hear their name being called. Half-lidded eyes snap wide open, pink eyes gazing up at Aleksei in surprise. Paladin Trainee? Me? Aleksei thought they were competent enough to be a Paladin Trainee? They... They didn't even know what they did? Well... they guessed that was why the position was called Paladin Trainee. They offer a shaky sigh, nodding their head slowly. If Aleksei saw something in them then... then there had to be, right? "Thank you mister Aleksei. I hope I do alright..." They sigh, "Congratulations, everyone else."

The mention of the Cartel had Gray wincing at the painful memory. Enemies. They had never thought that such a big, strong clan like BlizzardClan would have any enemies. They would have thought that everyone would have liked to be their friend, vying for their attention and all of that... That could've been avoided. They thought bitterly, their gaze falling back onto the ground under their shuffling paws. They could have.

Gray had heard about what had happened to Nesaphei. Truthfully, when they had heard about it, they had immediately assumed the worst. One of the only friends they had were gone. Dead. Surviving an burning house fire? Wounds in your neck? Who could survive that? But it seems like people were lucky sometimes. Only sometimes, not all the time. It was a lesson that was beginning to beat itself into Gray's head and it's made the cautious kid all the more weary of everything around them. There was a day they wanted to visit Nesa, to give her their utmost gratitude for helping them out of their perpetual state of fear of the cruel, cruel outside world. It wasn't, by any miracle, completely cured but Nesa sure did make it seem like the world wasn't all bad. Only... some of it. To that, they were grateful.

They bring along the basket they had spent a day preparing to give to Nesa, thanks to Kady, Plutarco, Armisticekit, and Candela. They all had some good ideas for stuff Nesaphei would like and after they had talked to them, they had set off to make the basket they wanted to make for their friend. With a small huff, the small kitsune enters the room that the woman was kept in, seeing her form there, breathing but also very still. It was like she were sleeping. Gray hopes that she doesn't stay like that.

They bring along their basket, setting it down tentatively. "Hi miss Nesaphei..." They greet quietly, a little sadness to their voice as they look down at their paws. "I know you probably can't hear me b-but, uhm... I made you a gift basket. I was gonna give it to you before this... as a thanks... but it seems like I was a little t-too late. Sorry about that." They nudge the basket a little closer. "I got some Pansy flowers for you. They grow in the winter, so you don't have to worry about them so much if you put them in your garden. And... I made you some scented beads. They smell like whipped caramel and clove." They smile a little, twin tails swishing idly behind their form as he looked over what they'd brought with them. It wasn't much, they thought. They were only a kid, so they couldn't necessarily go above and beyond getting Nesaphei exactly what she liked but they figured... it was the thought that counted, right? "The seeds and the beads will stay with you a long time, so when you wake up, you could use them. Well..."

They sigh, "I guess I'll let you rest. Bye bye miss Nesaphei."

oooo trash would love to mess with blizzclan so he'd totally nab one of their trainees c: does gray have any weaknesses trash could try to play on to manipulate him into staying? (whether or not it works is up to you! you can keep him around the exiles for a little while until he "sees the light" and escapes OR he could be rescued before then, your choice c: ) i've been slowly turning trash into a broodmother of sorts but since he can't have kids of his own he "adopts" other people's kids so he would probably be a little nicer to gray, especially if trash wants him to stick around

Well Gray's a Paladin Trainee now so some extra points for Trash there! Gray doesn't have a family presence at all in their life so Trash can totally tell them that he could take care of them like a dad/mother would, love them, etc. and could manipulate them from there! For a while they'll just sort of stay there and accept it until BlizzardClan proves them wrong and comes to rescue them, which'll make them think that the entirety of BlizzardClan is their family.

Gray hadn't been able to stop thinking about what had happened at their border earlier, when that Cartelian woman proclaimed BlizzardClan to be their enemies. They were trying to understand why the adults had acted the way they did, why they didn't even give the time to try and talk things out, but they couldn't. It was so hard to understand it from an neutral standpoint - they didn't want to fight anyone for any sort of reason if they could avoid it. And they could have, they thought. They thought they really could have. So they were a bit hurt, but they tried to iron out their feelings and set themselves straight. They didn't want to seem like a wuss that cried over everything, so they just found a little spot in their home to sit on their lonesome and wait until those tears dried up. However, it was when someone called their name that they realized they weren't quite alone.

    "Gray?"

Oh, that was mister Aleksei, wasn't it? They could only wonder what the leader wanted with them. Did he get mad when Gray told Fadedcolors that they didn't try hard enough to negotiate peace? That saying it was stupid to say peace was sometimes unreachable? It might have been a little rude, but Gray did not feel sorry for saying it. It was true! Hesitantly, the little white kitsune revealed themselves to Aleksei as they stepped out of the shadows and with a sad little frown on their face. They didn't think they could really hide from the male, seeing as they were just a child and children never really picked the best hiding spots.

    "Yes, mister Aleksei...?"

    PLAYLIST

    IT'S JUST LIFE, FLOWER

    — "I see the flimsy me, I see the flimsy me, I see the flimsy me, I see the flimsiness was part of me."

    — "Pressure of water is close, and it stops, and it flows, as I'm wishing someday I'll fly."

    — "I want to simply forget the me who simply can't move."

    — "The insults inside my head stopped long ago, 'I don't understand' is all that I know."

    — "And all the muddled-up words, all the ones that I heard, they will turn me into someone who's preferred."

While Gray was pitifully young and rather oblivious to the true struggles of those who lived in such an hostile place, they liked to think they could understand a lot of things fairly well - that they could digest things far better than your average kid could. But Gray was quickly finding out that they simply couldn't... Death and hurting others was something they couldn't even swallow much less digest. It was a bite too big for them and thus shied away from it, wondering why those things existed in the first place. Peace could be universal, couldn't it?

Sad cherry red eyes blinks slowly as Aleksei spoke once more, asking if he could come in to talk about what happened. They winced slightly, not because they didn't want to talk to the leader but because it was obviously a rather sore subject for the kitsune. Eventually, they make a little nodding gesture with their head, sniffing quietly. "Yes... that's okay." They didn't really think they could say no either. Aleksei seemed to have some determination in talking to them about what happened but it was clear that their leader also just wanted to look out for them. After all, he didn't seem mad at them or anything like that. The least they could do after being rude to Faded was to speak with Aleksei.

So after speaking, the scarfed child shuffled backwards to let Aleksei into their comfy little home. It was nice and clean and smelled of lavender due to the tea they'd taken the time to make after all of this trouble. It calmed them down a little, thankfully. At least they weren't shaking like a leaf now. There were a couple of Gray's belongings here and there, including a bed that was mostly just blankets and pillows. Despite being a child, Gray took good care of their home. They go to sit by the teapot they had, looking up towards Aleksei in hopes they'd find the dragon sitting next to them.

Ooh, alright that sounds like a good plan to me! Would you mind if I went ahead and made an "missing" thread for Gray? And if you want, you can make an introductory capture thread or something?

As Aleksei spoke on ally events and such, Gray inclined their head slightly to the side. Oh... that's what they do, huh? It seemed like a pretty big responsibility, scheduling these events and such but it also seemed to be quite fun. Well... at least they hoped it was fun. Maybe it could be something they could grow to be passionate about! "Oh. I'll ask Solaris Kingdom about the mock raid, since I'm their ambassador and all!" That was killing two birds with one stone, wasn't it? They thought it was about time they went to go visit them again anyhow! Gray didn't really have any ideas for any other events, none that seemed super fun... Oh, wait! "What about a Game Day? It could double as an contest and an ally event since I'm thinking it could be us versus another ally? Best one wins, that sorta thing...?"
