"Playing shrink is my job, kid." Toxi's maw quirked up slightly in an unmistakable grin, amused by the leopard cub's taste in humour. It was odd, but not uncomfortably so. The inky cat sat down, and curled her tail around her paws comfortably. "Been that way since I was probably your age, on and off since."

Toxicpassion had been asleep when it happened, so the newly-promoted Nightwatcher hadn't borne witness to the light that flashed across the world. She'd been feeling dramatic, and worn her finery. But the instant she settled, she woke up. Thankfully, she seemed to be intact.

Green eyes looked around the unfamiliar forest, straining to pick up familiar scents and sounds where there were none. For the first time, she felt truly blind, and wondered if this was how it felt. Then a familiar voice rippled through the air, clear as day, but not looking for her. Familiar. Too high-pitched to be Soundcheck.

"Hello! Anyone there?" She yowled, trying to claw her way up onto a rock. Goddesses above, this was ridiculous. Her ears were pinned, and a sick feeling was building in her gut. Something was horribly wrong. Had someone with teleportation set upon her in her sleep?

Ah, so he spoke. Toxi listened as intently as usual as Standstill ran through the list of names he had decided to give a shoutout to, and nodded as her own name was included, again. Then came promotions; she nodded again, approving of all the names. She hadn't interacted with Rialto yet, she thought. She would need to change that sometime soon. And then her name was called, for the second meeting in a row, and she flushed under her fur. Nightwatcher. That was ... Assistant Deputy? Goddesses above, she was really going somewhere, huh.

"I accept. Thank you, Standstill, and congratulations, everyone." She meowed, delight slipping past the indifferent mask she usually held on her face.

Ew, having the Rogues nearby meant that Deathstroke was around. And while Toxi didn't like the assassin at all, if he was mushy with Feliks then she could tease her friend relentlessly for it when they returned home. She would go with her colleague.

"Slow down to a jog, asshole, my legs are shorter than yours." She quipped, trying to keep up with the Shepherd.

Goddesses above, Standstill was going to murder her, she was so late with these. Bad form for a Nightwatcher. But it sure as hell didn't help that they'd been transported to a new camp in the middle of nowhere, with weird trees, and even stranger was the fact that the Blackhearts were nearby, of all groups. She rolled her eyes and leaped up onto a precipice where she could be heard across the camp.

"Okay, Veilers! I know it's confusing but we're gonna make the best of what we have. I'm running weekly tasks at the moment, come get 'em. We'll mostly focus on getting shit up and running around here to take a load off of Standstill, because he's old." Amusement was written all over the inky cat's face as she finished and waited.

Tosicpassion skidded to a neat halt at Feliks' command, green eyes searching the area with their usual cold, calculating stare. She'd murmured to the wolf, "Stay here, I'll scout a while." before vanishing into the fog to his left. As she went, losing sight of her fellow Veiler sooner then anticipated (which warned her not to stray too far), she noticed more of the same. Scent markers, fresh but weak, indicating that the Rogues had somehow - miraculously - gotten their shit together faster than the Shadows.

When she return, she was greeted by a face that set off some instinct in her, and she froze, breath catching. She was rooted to the spot, thinking no, this couldn't be her, and since Feliks seemed to be the one doing the talking at the moment Toxi was content to be a very quiet, very startled ghost.

Speaking of old timers, here came one of her other favourites. Toxicpassion shook some glowing moss off of her paw- had she seen this before? Nope, so it was interesting, and whoops, she'd just distracted herself again. She hummed thoughtfully. "Feli, take a small patrol and scout the ruins that we'll be able to rely on as homes. Get some of the glowing moss and smear it on them, so we know which ones you've picked."

Toxi scented the air. Good, the blood she'd caught a whiff of was getting stronger, which means she was close to finding its source. A few moments later, she stumbled upon Cygnetpaw, and her green eyes lit up. Here. It was her. The only issue was that in this new forest, she had no idea how herbs worked anymore. She stopped at the feline's side, concern flashing in her green eyes.

"Hey, kid. Gonna need you to stay with me. Don't freak out, I'm a healer." She leaned over and sniffed at the wound on her head. Ugh, head injuries were the worst to deal with. "You hurt anywhere else?"

What the trio of Kinship members hadn't noticed (or hadn't acknowledged) was the green-eyed cat that lay hidden in one of the smaller pine saplings. Toxicpassion had taken to using the saplings as a neat hiding place, especially when she scented something unusual. And unusual was a good word to describe this little troupe that had arrived on the borders and promptly trespassed. Rude of them.

"You do realise," she drawled, and slid down to the ground, revealing herself, "that the Veil border was that way." She nodded to the direction from which the trio had come, before locking eyes with each of them one at a time.

"Sure thing, Soundcheck. I'd like you to hold a quick survey on what we do and don't have access to by way of powers, I've been hearing rumours from NPCs that there are a few that are gone completely." She nodded to the former hellhound. It would definitely be useful, to get an idea of what they could do in this new territory. It felt like they were playing by a new set of rules, and she didn't like it, but she would make the best of it.

Toxi was fairly certain she'd met this girl before, on her last trip to the Ruins. The Nightwatcher approached, alerted by the scent of their ally, and made a low noise of relief. "Hey, you're from the Ruins, right? We met when I last visited for ambassador stuff. She paused a moment, and then continued. "What can I do for you?"

Toxicpassion was there, still roughed up and wild-eyed from the encounter she still had to write out. She was well aware that her absence would have been noted, but hopefully her reasoning had been too.

    //mobile sorry

I've been waaay too neglectful of little miss bitchy here over the last few weeks because of my rogue and leading up to my last term of school. However! I'll be around more now, hopefully, and to kick my muse back into shape I'll be having threads!

Got a request for an interaction? Hit me up!

The main concept I have for her rn is that she's realised that her daughter, her only surviving kin, is in the BHR, and that's going to eat at her a lot.

"I can go looking for Bl- the Ruins." Toxi offered, approaching. Her voice was hollow, unusually so for the fiery she-cat, as if something was draining her. She'd had one thing on her mind since that patrol she'd gone on, and it went in circles, endless questions and scenarios that kept the Spiritcaller up at night. It was beginning to show in the way she walked ... and there was nothing she could do about it.

"Sounds good." Toxi murmured. Her tail waved along the forest ground. She, personally, had no idea where the Cartel was, bu hopefully winter did. She turned green eyes towards Winterdoomsday and blinked once, slowly. "Up for a walk?" She asked the snowy feline.

"Congrats, Soundcheck." She meowed, nodding to the canine. From what she'd heard, he deserved it; and it was always good to see him be a constant. After a moment Toxi nodded again, relieved. She was grateful that she hadn't been immediately dropped - surprised, but grateful. Her mother would have never been that gracious; had never been. She tried to catch Stand's eye and mouth the words thank you, hoping that he would notice it and catch the prideful Nightwatcher's admission.

Toxicpassion sighed. She had found a sentry point near the front of the camp; it wasn't as good as the wall she'd inhabited when the Thunderlands attacked, nor was it even remotely like the view from the top of the lighthouse of RadicalClan. But it was something. A place for the dark-furred she-cat to relax, high up out of the way of anyone's gaze unless they looked for her specifically.

It had been quiet today in the Shadow Veil camp, but the goings-on of the dark cat's mind were quite the opposite.

She couldn't stop thinking about the fact that the Blackheart Rogues were their neighbours. Not only that, but the small domestic cat that had stood on the far side of the border when Feliks' patrol had gone to scout out the land was intimately familiar. Toxi knew why, too. She hadn't realised until she was safe on Veil territory, when she'd turned around to spot golden eyes looking at her with a mix of curiosity and bewilderment; the black cat she'd met looked startlingly like her daughter.

The daughter she'd lost when she and Crowdcontrol had been separated during a frightening blizzard, almost six moons ago.

It had been dark and cold, the middle of winter, when Toxicpassion had been forced out into the snow to drive off a fox. She'd always been useful against larger opponents, small and lithe and fast in the way that only a cat that was trained from birth to be the best could be. She'd taken a couple of hits, bleeding from the shoulder and ear by the time she'd finally driven it off, and even now just thinking about it, Toxicpassion's old scars ached a little.

But she'd been lost from then on. She'd wandered for days, patching herself up wherever possible, until she'd found a place to stay. A half moon later, she'd packed up and began to walk. It had led her paws to the Shadow Veil. She'd never seen Crowdcontrol or her children again.

For all she'd known, they were dead. But if that was Velvetkit ... then at least one of her children had survived. Had made it through the light.

That was something that Toxi could live with.

But the fact that she'd become a Blackheart, of all things ... Toxicpassion had no way of knowing who her child had become. Even if it was the same kitten she'd given birth to under an overcast sky, she had no way of knowing that her kit even remembered her, let alone respected her.

Toxicpassion sighed again and put her head on her paws.
