Ulric, sitting in the grass next to the fire pit, unsheathed the knife kept on his leg. He started work on skinning the squirrel in preparation, slicing at the base of its tail. In the middle of the second cut, he heard the sound of horses in the distance. Unsure of the possible threat at hand, he ran inside; considering the fact that he'd heard horses, Ulric grabbed a pike. Weapon in hand, he left the hidden cabin and crawled onto the dirt, placing his ear on the ground; listening for how many horses there may be. Judging by the frequency and volume of the horses, Ulric judged there were atleast seven horses, meaning there'd likely be atleast six to seven people; possibly a group of bandits.

He'd likely have enough time. Ulric pushed himself back up, picking up his pike along the way and headed back to the cabin to retrieve the longbow and a handful of arrows. In preparation, he laid the bow against a tree, planted the arrows in the ground and braced his pike. Standing on the side of the main road, he waited.

Hearing the galloping in the distance slow down to a canter, then to a trot, Ulric slightly lowered the pike. Possibilities ran through his mind, had they spotted him before he spotted them, had they went the other path or maybe, his old mind was playing tricks on him. Unsure of the true nature of the situation, Ulric thought it'd be better to investigate on his own terms. He tossed the pike into the middle of the path and grabbed his longbow in one hand, three arrows in the other. With caution and cover from trees and brush, Ulric crept towards the source of the possible bandits. If there were seven like he'd estimated, the safest bet would be to take out a few without being spotted; possibly scaring them off in the best case scenario.

The old soldier kept low to the ground to try and minimize the shaking of the brush; though with lessened dexterity, it was impossible to move without causing the brush to shake a little bit. To make matters worse for his attempt at sneaking, as a result of Ulric's old age, some of his joints quietly creaked; he was mostly unaware of this noise, or, if he was, he was certainly denying it. Ulric stopped, hiding underneath a large bush; a position that finally let him get a look at who was poking around near his home. His estimate seemed more or less correct, a group of six people he could see, most clad in leather; not to mention, armed.

Ulric was in shock for a second. They'd spotted him, they were quite obviously pointing their bows too. As humiliating as it was, he had no choice but to reveal himself to the group. The first thing that peeked from the bush was the massive longbow, followed by Ulric himself. He stood out in the open, wearing his old uniform adorned with an old, faded coat of arms of Erromond. Ulric glared at the group pointing their bows at him. Choosing his words carefully, the old soldier spoke out "I don't exactly know vo you are or vy you're here, put I am not in zee mood for ein fight like zis, if I vas I vouldn't be here. To get to zee point, vat is your purpose here und make it quick, I'm not getting any younger; I'fe already spent enough time here for ein volf to haffe stolen mein dinner." Ulric coughed lightly, a little bit of it on purpose to emphasize his point.

-Excuse me for the delay, I had to recharge a bit before feeling apt to post again-

Ulric slipped the arrows he was holding under his belt and pointed his finger towards Malcom. "To answer your queszion, vat I'm doing here is liffing in mein new home." He stopped pointing his index towards Malcom and pointed his thumb over his shoulder. Staying silent for a second, Ulric turned his attention to Edmond, looking over him one last time. "Ja, it zeems you aren't ein marauting bandit here to try to kill me, emphazis on try, und take mein zings. Zus, I bid you ein fair day." Before turning to leave, Ulric took a look at each person who hadn't spoken during the encounter. Having gotten a good look at everyone, he slunk off back into the bushes, looking for a new meal along the way back to his cabin.

The colander of truth better be nearing its completion, as I feel my power draining, down the drain like the rest of me, yeeeeee
