I like the Angelic idea because it shows that the creature may be a burden to Argentum now, but if he masters it, it can be a great ally and source of strength.

Also, he doesn’t have to be in a “Time traveling accident”. This could just be a timeskip to a few years in the future where Argentum is an adult.

    (Plot)

As a cub, Artemis loved her family dearly, like any child. She lived with a brave father, a loving mother, and five playful siblings. It was all a pup had ever wanted.

As a teen, however, her life began to head for the worst. She began to realize more about the world around her, from others’ perspectives, and soon realized her family was not what they had seemed. They were cruel and tyrannical, treating the mortals living amongst them as nothing but mere toys and vermin. Artemis was disgusted, but what was she to do? Nothing, that was what. All she could do was fake a smile for her family, and spend most of her time alone in her room, bottling up all of her anger inside herself.

Now that she’s an adult, however, Artemis can do what she always wanted. It was time for her, and the rest of her siblings to fly the nest, and she wasn’t planning on seeing her family again, ever. Now she was in her dragon form, Ariel, flying over ahead, looking for a place to rest for the night. She saw herself as sort of a vigilante, roaming the world and fighting against darkness, all without a place to call home. Ariel landed on the ground, shifting back to her normal wolffish self. Artemis yawned and stretched herself out. She looked around at the large redwood forest before her. She had heard that nearby, there was a clan known as the Thunderlands. Luckily for Artemis, they were a neutral clan, less likely to come attack her. That was good, as she didn’t want to deal with anyone. Despite being a heroine, Artemis wasn’t a typical goody two shoes. She was socially awkward and never cared for anyone to be around her. Even if she made a connection with someone, She would always come out, and Artemis would have to leave before anyone could get her. The large she wolf muttered to herself about getting some rest, before flopping down to sleep on the large grassy field.
