ooc: he won't know that she killed the father of her kits, right?
The familiar lilac pelt of Mousenose caused him to smile in return at her, nodding his thanks at her kind words. Settling down comfortably, not hungry himself due to having eaten earlier, the father studied her face. While still holding her strong beauty, putting on a brave face for her Clanmates, he could see the hidden darkness behind her irises and the way her throat had a consistent lump she had to swallow down. He'd hidden the same features, after all, following his mate's death. It made sense she'd be grieving the kidnapping of her child. Sighing softly at her question, he answered, "About as well as any father. I can't believe how fast they're growing." Cowspots managed a tiny chuckle, tail playing with the moss of another queen's nest. Meeting her gaze, he hesitated. "How are you holding up?" he prompted gently, not wanting to press too far. Were they finding enough time for patrols to look for Mottledkit? Would it be helpful if he went out more to help her look? He knew the warrior were awfully busy with their hunting trying to keep the clan fed, but he couldn't sit by and let a fellow parent remain worried about her kit.
-
ooc: okie, i'll have him not be aware yet then so it can play out how you want!
His nose touched her ear comfortingly at the reminder her own children would soon be apprentices. No doubt she'd miss seeing them every day, licking their head at the end of each day, but it was also so rewarding to watch. They were becoming warriors, strong cats of WindClan. He just knew they would be so very proud of them. Mousenose's and his kits both would grow into fine warriors.
The topic, however, shifted more dark as they addressed the troubles of losing someone. Cowspots understood all too well. He'd put his kits' safety and happiness before his own after Heathercloud passed. Her problem was even more difficult. Losing a mate was one thing, but a child? StarClan, he couldn't even imagine the pain... And to top it off, she had to know Mottledkit was probably alive somewhere and Mousenose couldn't save her because she didn't know where she was. The whole situation made his gut wrench and paws flex with a powerful desire to protect. Pressing his muzzle against her shoulder, he nodded. "I know. But anything you need, I'm here. Nothing is too great to ask. I'll pick up extra patrols, make sure your other two are staying out of trouble - anything. We'll bring Mottledkit back," promised Cowspots, eyes watering. These felt as much like his kits as hers, the way his paternal nature took over. He'd spent so long in the nursery, grown so fond of his queens that he was their family.
-
"What do you mean?" he echoed back, voice equally soft. Something in the edge of her tone caused an uneasy stirring in his gut, but he knew Mousenose was not evil. If she'd done anything regrettable, it had been for an intelligent reason and the world would learn to live with it. Besides, Cowspots had met the father of her kits. He'd been cruel, abrasive, nothing a father should be. Coyote held no respect for she-cats, nor kits, and seemed to think his children were his spawn, therefore should follow his every belief. It was despicable and made him feel sick. The warrior hadn't seen him around lately, and he'd been grateful for that. WindClan, as well as Mousenose's family, were better without Coyote. Cowspots would protect her if he dared show his face again.

ooc: okay, i can make/tag the riverclan one if star or morn wants to do the skyclan one?
-
With all the snow, I can make and tag you in a thread where they start clearing camp out from all the wetness and replace old drenched roof areas/nests?
-
While frantically searching for his friends, heart clenching uncomfortably in his chest, Cowspots caught the struggle of another cat under a patch of snow. Immediately, he began working furiously to uncover Halfeyes, plunging his muzzle in to aim to help haul him out by his scruff. He didn't want to injure him but he didn't want him trapped, so he was careful not to pull too hard. All the while, he couldn't help the sick feeling from not seeing Morningfrost yet. 'Why can't I settle down? Why can't I stop thinking about them?' he shook in his head as he examined his Clanmate, freshly-pulled from the snow. "Are you okay, Halfeyes? Are you injured anywhere?" fretted the tom, concern glistening in his eyes despite his attention pulled elsewhere.

oh my god I'm crying Petal is an angel Cow loves her <33
& oo I can't wait!!

Cowspots, regrettably, hadn't been there to meet Cherrybreeze upon her introduction to the clan. He had been chasing patrols all day, when he wasn't hunting, he was off busying himself searching for Mottledkit. In his spare time in camp, the tom made it a priority to play with his children, listening to their day and congratulating them on their successes as apprentices. He also spared some moves to impress their mentors in training! All of it was a ruse to distract him from the fluttering in his chest when he looked at Morningfrost or Ivynose. They couldn't know; he wouldn't ruin their happiness.
Luckily, another distraction appeared when the flame pointed she-cat woke up with wide eyes and shaking paws. Glancing over to her, tilting his head kindly, Cowspots rumbled, "Good morning, Cherry. Are you feeling alright? Would you like me to fetch one of our medicine cats?" Softness shone in his eyes, knowing she'd been a kittypet before and probably had forgotten where she was briefly. Change could be overwhelming and scary, but he would help guide her through it and feel better about joining WindClan.

IVYNOSE.
Something felt... different inside Cowspots. Heathercloud's death, while weighing on his heart, no longer was accompanied with bone-shattering agony. It was a dull ache, something he remembered and felt of her fondly, but now he could feel himself moving on. Perhaps it'd been due to his children becoming apprentices. His pride in them, his joy at seeing their success made everything seem brighter. They were excelling in their training, performing as perfect little warriors, and he couldn't be more thrilled at seeing how happy it made them. Everything was worth it when he witness the light in their eyes as they caught their first prey. And still, there was a fire within him now he couldn't ignore, something he recognized from before his children had been born.
Spending time with Morningfrost and Ivynose elated him. Not just made him happy - actually visibly brightened his day to the point where seeing their faces would mean he had the best day ever. Having conversations with either made him chipper and excitable, eager to hear about what they were thinking and tell them about his own day. But the real thing that made him notice the difference? How attracted he felt to them. Not just physically but emotionally. When something happened, they were who he wanted to share things with. When he felt down, they could cheer him up. When he was having a good day? He wanted to celebrate with them and lean into their fur, rub his muzzle against their own... Oh, StarClan, he was in love with his best friends. Truly, immensely in love. Fox-dung.

ooc: oop thank you for the info! pretend he didn't use a name then <3
He blinked as she stared, wondering if he'd come across too sudden for her. There had been cats here in the past who had come from places that broke them, meaning they had a harder time with social interaction. Mousenose was the first cat who came to mind with that in mind, so perhaps this cat would have an easier time opening up to a she-cat like her. Her confusion reflected in his own face, wondering just where she thought she was. Sitting down, the black and white tom continued, "Oh, I suppose you'd like to know my name. I'm Cowspots, a warrior of WindClan. Do you... remember coming here?" She seemed terribly anxious for someone in a safe place. Did she think she'd been captured or held hostage? Cowspots hoped not, because that wouldn't be a great start.
-
Strangers weren't uncommon as of lately. It seemed word was growing that Eaglestar was leader of WindClan, while he had formerly been part of a rogue group that gathered among their moors. First it had been Flint, then Mousenose, and more recently Wolfsbane and his friends. Coyote, unfortunately, had been one of those among them, but luckily he'd been weeded out as someone WindClan did not want among their ranks. For the most part these cats had been accepting of their laws and customs, but Cowspots knew a few still had some issues to overcome.
However, he wasn't out hunting for strangers today. Instead, he'd been visiting the nursery to check up on Mousenose when he noticed another of her kits gone. Alarmed, yet not wanting to fret the queen until necessary, he'd left camp to follow the trail, finally nearing her location as he brushed through the grass with a huge exhale of relief. "Petalkit! Thank StarClan, your mother is going to be so-" The words died in his mouth the moment he set his hazel gaze upon Graceful, frowning softly. Curling his tail around Petalkit protectively, Cowspots realized the little kit had already asked who she was. Good on her, but given that she was still without her apprentice name, he didn't want her taking risks without training.
-
His gaze softened at her discomfort. While Petalkit would certainly be in trouble upon arrival back at camp, her 'punishment' would be more chores and less fun activities for a moon. Nothing scary or horrible, but definitely not something the girl would look forward to. Nodding at Graceful's answer, he opened his jaws to give a calm, "I won't hurt you. My name is Cowspots, and you've already met our young Petalkit. It's lovely to meet you. And, if you like, I'm sure WindClan could point you in the direction of your brother. Is he a clan cat?" The feline's gaze remained steady on hers, kind and understanding. He'd once been in her fur, wondering what had happened to his brother. Granted, Cowspots's brother had been an exile, then dead, which he certainly hoped wasn't her case.
-
He nodded, beginning to understand. A WindClan patrol must have brought her in for treatment after finding her unconscious and in need of help at the border. "Well, it certainly sounds like you've had a rough evening," he mused sympathetically, "Are you hungry? We don't have much, but I can find a nice mouse for you to regain some energy while I tell you about where you are." All cats were thinner than normal during leaf-bare, especially WindClan. Already skinny and long-legged, they practically looked like skeletons during this time. Oddly enough, however, they were strong as ever and more alert than their neighbors. Cowspots took pride in that.
-
Her rejection caused him to raise a nonexistent brow, maw curling in an amused smile as he heard her stomach's disapproving grumble. Flicking his tail for her to wait a moment, he returned with a small mouse, setting it in front of her. She'd eat if she felt like it, he imagined, but he wouldn't force her. Deciding to let her hear about their home, Cowspots explained, "Well, WindClan is one of six forest clans. We also neighbor a tribe, as well as a group of rogues. Our clans, however, follow a very strict code which helps protect us and keep us safe. You were taken in because one of our codes is to protect those who need help. You'll find most of us here take that rule especially seriously. We've taken in quite a few orphans, myself included. WindClan rescued me when I was a kit and I've been grateful to them for many moons. I can't imagine a better place to live." He smiled fondly as he told her of his home, eyes glimmering with reminiscence and joy. Cowspots's adoration and loyalty to WindClan was obvious.
-
At Petalkit's indignant outburst, he cast a pointed look down at her, though it wasn't unkind. Flecks of amusement accompanied his dad-face. He wouldn't send her back on her own, for that was too dangerous, instead allowing her to remain while Graceful explained whom she had lost. It seemed Petalkit had an idea before him, making his ears perk with the notion she might just be right. Cowspots wasn't surprised to hear, either, when the stranger confirmed that Wolfsbane was her brother. Nodding, he explained, "Wolfsbane is a warrior here. Eaglestar, our leader, used to be a part of your rogue group, so I'm sure he'd like to meet you. I'll show you to camp, but on the way feel free to meet your niece Petalkit." He grinned with a bit of a smirk, motioning towards the little calico at his paws. Knowing Graceful was, in fact, family to Petalkit made him feel more comfortable around her. Both sides were probably curious about the other, so he didn't mind letting them chat on the way.
