    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris instinctively stiffened when Speedfreak approached - her and Elian still elicited those responses from her pretty easily, but it was getting better. She relaxed once she realized her posture, but was careful to make sure he remained out of her blind spot. The apology was surprising and left Canoris speechless for a moment. When she was finally able to gather her thoughts, she simply nodded and said, "Thank you." He was just doing as the Ruins encouraged, and her birds had had the chance to get away. They'd flown into their own death - they'd loved Canoris that much - and the ebony wolf would never forget that. That being said, if tiny birds were pelting towards her, she'd probably swat them away as well.

When Evangeline approached, Canoris offered a small, fleeting smile in response to the one given. "It depends, honestly," She answered, thinking about how particularly stubborn this bunch seemed to be. "How they get along with one another... their intelligence, or rather, willingness to listen to me. I've already replaced a couple that just didn't want to be around. They need to be willing if I'm to trust them - but I offer them a pretty safe haven all things considered." Free rides, protection from a wolf, all in exchange for just telling her what to do? Canoris suspected most hummingbirds would jump at the opportunity, but some of the little twats seemed particularly against being contained.

    She respected that.

Her eye brightened when Elian asked to spar. She was anxious about sparring someone who previously almost killed her, but it would be better than sparring someone like Speedfreak who had bested her at the height of her strength. Well, she was caught by surprise, but that was besides the point... And while Canoris was sure Evangeline was tough, she couldn't see herself wanting to spar against someone like her. She wouldn't want to hurt her, but Canoris would never say it aloud to Eva. They were in the Ruins, after all, but something about their relationship made Canoris want to stay her paw. "That would be nice. We could use the practice." She said to Elian, nodding a brief greeting towards Bloodpoppy as she approached. She hadn't met the priestess officially, but she knew the girl had spunk enough for the lot of them.

As she squared up to Elian and gently shook her pelt, her hummingbirds dashed into the air and into formation. Three on each side, staggered in the air, never quite hovering in the same place for more than a breath. Good, good. "Your move first?" She suggested with a slight tilt of her head, fluffing her pelt in order to signal to her birds to be ready for an attack.

She glanced over her shoulders at the others on the sidelines, "They could use names, too, if you guys wanted to help. Single syllable only though, please." And then she turned her head back to her opponent, ready to fight.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris' nose wrinkled as she neared Speedfreak. The scent was unmistakeable, and the look on his face told her he had no idea how to handle it. "You know, you gave me an infection with that shoulder wound." She said, a passing comment as she padded up to inspect Speedfreak's terrible bandaging job up close. She sighed and shook her head a bit, turning around and leaving for a short while before coming back with a leaf bundle in her mouth. She dropped it in front of him and asked, "Can I help? I was a healer in my old group." She said, wanting to get a closer look for more than one reason. A wound with this much necrotic tissue was interesting, and she saw the cruel irony in her helping him heal when he'd done the opposite to her. On the outside, at least. In reality, him bringing her here might have saved her life in the long run. Huh. Funny how that worked.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris realized after helping Speedfreak and Elian's notice at the meeting last week that she really didn't have to sit idle in the nurse's position. She was a fully fledged, fully capable healer, and now that she knew that a certain amount of time wasn't required in the nurse position, she figured she ought to search out a way to get promoted. "Is there a physician around I can speak to? Or, the head physician?" Why couldn't she recall who that was? She really needed to get better at remembering names.

Considering that was the biggest worry she had as of late, though, Canoris had to realize she was lucky to be where she was. Never had her life been so stress free, ironically in one of the most dangerous groups on Agrelos. Life had a real funny way of working out sometimes.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

What in the hell was going on? They were acting like it was the end of the world and Speedfreak needed to be put down. Sure, it was a terrible wound, and Canoris knew it could indeed be fatal.

But that was not a certain trajectory. Not in the wolf's eyes. She'd witnessed limits of other creatures in her time healing in BlizzardClan, and she did not see this as a certain defeat.

She did see the obvious personal connection between Carnivorouscarnival and Speedfreak. She really oughta not be involved in this. "Evangeline, what makes you think he needs to be killed?" Was she missing something?

"Carnivorouscarnival, I was a healer at my old group. I can help Speedfreak. It appears you're a bit to involved with him to think rationally. If you have an idea of what antivenom would be useful, please explain or go retrieve it. I won't let him die while you're gone." She had no idea where Carni's trust in her was, but hopefully her calm tone and sure demeanor could relay that. Hebe dumping the vodka in the wound was a good start, and Canoris nodded wordlessly to herself as she thought.

"Hebe, set all the bandages and stuff aside. Do you have anything rough with you? We need to scrape away the necrotic, but something tells me avoiding contact with it will be good." Despite her obvious crazy, she seemed to know what was going on and not be too involved. She'd be able to help.

Great spirits. If she managed to save Speedfreak she'd be able to hold it over him forever.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris' eyes just widened, taking in the dramatic crescendo that erupted around her at this devilish wound. Bit by the undead? Canoris hadn't ever confronted one of those - having mostly dealt with her own problems as of late. The way they were all somberly taking this, the finality of it, it struck Canoris as odd. They were bowing before this illness, tapping out, not even trying. Were they stuck in such a negative view of themselves thinking they had no chance at all at learning from this? He could've easily been sedated for the morality of it all, but damnit they could've at least learned from it if it was so final.

She shook her head sadly and then looked over to Elian, "I want his body. Anyone can help if they wish, but I want to experiment on it while it's fresh. See where the infection spreads, see if I cut out all the bad if the other parts still decay the same. See if it affected his brain already - visibly at least. I can do it in solitude, wash myself after. We can learn from his death." They could've learned more if they'd just waited to kill him, but alas. "Wouldn't someone with the extensive herbal and fungal knowledge he had understand the necessity of continuing to learn after death?"

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris sat down, keeping her fur flat despite its inclination to bristle. Carnivorouscarnival's words were harsh, but they stemmed from a place Canoris was well familiar with. They were grieving, and it was understood. The snappiness of the power-loving priestess was more inciting of anger than anything, though, and Canoris frowned at Bloodpoppy's disposition. It seemed no matter what group she went to, they valued sentiments over learning. That was one of her first disappointments since coming to the Ruins.

She thought for a moment before deciding to completely ignore the priestess entirely. She had been a full healer longer than Bloodpoppy had been alive, and knowing that was enough to ease her mind from the sharp words thrown in her direction. Bloodpoppy was young, and she would either learn eventually or live in ignorance. Either way it hardly affected the ebony canine. The grieving one-eyed Ruiner, however, deserved something, as Canoris could see how blatantly harsh her words might seem. She looked over to Carnivorouscarnival, dipping her head, "I'm sorry for your loss, I wouldn't ask so soon if timing wasn't important." She assured Carnivorouscarnival.

And then she turned back to Elian, calmly continuing, "The more it rots, the less useful it is. I'd like to learn from it, and will always be respectful. It can be buried or burned or however you typically say goodbye afterwards, but I think this is important." She was putting her own life at risk, and clearly from the responses of her Ruinmates - that didn't matter too much.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris greeted Eva and the others with a small dip of her head, "Not injured, no. Just looking to figure some things out."

When she was informed that Naomi was the head physician, the ebony wolf paused. Well, it was no surprise Canoris didn't remember that. Naomi didn't strike her as one suited for those responsibilities, but all her judgements were from the words she said and the actions she took. Canoris hadn't seen much of either, so she really held no strong basis for her opinion. Hearing about her position made her opinion rise a bit for the odd kitsune, she'd have to keep a more open eye about her in the future.

She turned to Naomi when she approached, "Hey, I was a full healer for awhile in another group. I really don't think it's necessary to have me in a training role when I can work to train others, is there an assessment you can have me complete or something so I can be a full physician?" She considered going the Priestess route, but honestly didn't know much about the Red God. She believed in him - she'd be dumb not to after the Ruiners had literally met him - but she didn't know much about him. Learning from the current Priestess didn't sound fun, especially after the harsh words she'd already sent Canoris her way. So she'd be fine sharpening her skills in the healing rank. It wasn't like she couldn't change her mind later.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

The meeting was all normal until it devolved into what uncomfortably reminded her of the conversations she'd had with Kady. Drama drama drama. It was all over every group, it seemed, and the ebony wolf was comfortable with sitting back and watching this one from the outside. When Evangeline took control, it wasn't surprising. Relieving, sure, but not surprising.

Overall she was unbothered. In fact, part of her was fine with Jace finding love in someone else. Wishing death upon someone for that seemed silly, but she didn't know Petra and didn't know any of the other punching details Jace added to the discussion. Who knew... maybe Elian and Jace had the hots for each other and just hadn't realized it yet. Given the vehement exchange, it wouldn't surprise the wolf in the slightest.

The ebony wolf looked towards Evangeline, ignoring everything and asking, "Did someone offer to host weekly tasks? I could do it this week."

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris looked at Zacharias and tilted her head questioningly, "I think keeping the peace would be carrying on with business. It definitely isn't gawking at other's personal problems." She said calmly, standing and shaking her pelt, "I'll just get them done, then." She said with a small shrug, padding out of the pyramid.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

"Ruiners! Come get your weekly task." The one-eyed second tier called out from the middle of camp. She was waiting near the blood altar, and based on the smell it needed a refresher. Canoris made a note to give that job to someone. Her light blue eye kept watch for anyone's approach as her hummingbirds snuggled in on her back.

/Feel free to request an OOC prompt as well!

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris raised a brow questioningly at the panther's wink, tilting her head slightly before deciding it wasn't worth pursuing further right now. "  25hz's manager , take a partner if you want and go capture a prisoner from another group." Good enough. (OOC: Have your character approach someone they'd be least likely to speak to/interact with.)

CLARET approached and Canoris made yet another mental reminder to approach the quiet kid one on one sometime, she'd like to learn more about her. Something about the character intrigued Canoris. She always saw her reading, and that wasn't exactly a common hobby, "You should pick a book and try and start a book club. Something that'll benefit all who want to read, or learn to read." Maybe thatd also get the kid talking more.

LADY JAILBIRD; padded up and asked for a couple. Well, perfect then, "You can get a group to clean and freshen up the altar with fresh blood and kills, say a prayer or whatnot beforehand if you'd like. Also, it wouldn't hurt to do the same thing to the borderline." Those two were quite large commitments, so she didn't say anything beyond that.

When jace b. ecuador-vires approached she immediately recalled the events at the meeting the other day. She wondered how he was holding up, being called out like that. "Figure out a way to host a scavenger hunt for the clan. Also, if you find some time, I'd like to speak with you." It wasn't urgent, she'd just been meaning to reach out to the ancient Ruiner. (OOC: What does Jace fear? Have him do/confront/endure something that scares him.)

kyoko d.h. was the one that was trying to learn to read, right? Or was that Rai? Canoris couldn't quite remember but she figured the task wouldn't hurt regardless, "Pick a book, read it. If you can't read, find someone to give you a lesson." enriching minds was always a good task. (OOC: Expand the collection of whatever your character collects, or have your character begin a collection)

The ever-interesting hebe skinner was next in line, and Canoris didn't know much about her except she knew how to heal. She tilted her head slightly and decided to throw something abstract towards the other canine, "Find a way to share your joy with the Ruins." That oughta at least get her thinking, and Canoris could only imagine what would result. (OOC: What's Hebe's current biggest obstacle she has to overcome? Reflect and expand on that.)

About as opposite as you could get, the grumpy looking, lumbering Legmeat approached next. Honestly, Canoris saw herself getting along with that one. Maybe it was something about his tone, but he gave Canoris the vibe he'd be fun to chill, relax, and shoot the shit with. "Make a bonfire. Any addition to that is up to you." A nice chill hangout sounded like a great time.

Seeing naomi. reminded Canoris that she also wanted to have a private conversation with the head physician, determined to learn more about the cryptic character. She seemed slow, but held such a high rank, there must be something Canoris was missing. "Try and figure out why fish can't survive in the Blood Nile. I know there's likely no reasonable answer, but experiments can't hurt, right?" Canoris never saw anything living swimming in that river, but the water was palatable at the very least. Hell, maybe the answer was already known and Canoris would just look stupid. Whatever. She could care less what other's thought.

SWEETVALERIAN was the last one here so far, and while he hardly said anything, Canoris could practically feel his reluctance. Or maybe it was just her. Who knew, maybe he was just a shy guy. "Why don't you find a new way to utilize the sand we have around here?" Maybe giving him something to work his mind would pique his interest, instead of a simple "go do A and accomplish B." Or maybe he just wouldn't do the task as it seemed like too much pointless work.

Canoris was shooting in the dark on many of these, not having known much about many in the clan. She was increasingly glad she offered to do this though, as it would help her meet and interact with the Ruiners she now lived with. Patiently, she waited for another to approach.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris' gaze softened a bit as she was shook from her focused mindset watching Eva nuzzle her son. She hadn't known the cub was hers, but it was pretty evident once she saw the display of affection. She wondered if that was Constellationdreamer's child too or Amour's, not recalling if she'd already learned that information. Relationships were hard to keep track of sometimes, but what mattered was that everyone seemed happy and content around each other. When Evangeline asked for a prompt, Canoris nodded once silently. She needed a moment to think of one, ideas fizzling out after her first outpouring of assignments. For some reason her mind snapped back to BlizzardClan, a memory of her and Kady going on double dates with others around the clan. Hmm. Maybe something like that could be fun. "Why don't you organize some blind dates for members who want it? It'll give Ruiners a chance to meet others and perhaps gain a new friend or more." (OOC: Explore an irrational fear that Evangeline has!)

    //I sent you a convo 25hz's manager!

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

She wasn't expecting it to be hard, but she wasn't expecting it to be this easy either. Without her experience dealing with others in a professional manner, she probably would've sputtered a "Uhhmmm.. what?" right then and there. Luckily, she had the nerve to hold it back. A surprised look in her eye was the only revelation of her easy promotion, maybe Ruiners paid more attention to her than she thought. That idea was reinforced as others began congratulating her. Even Elian approved and then... that was that? She was good? Cool. "Thank you. I won't let the Ruins down." She still had to shake herself every so often with how easy this life in the Ruins was going for her.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Elian came at her straight on, and the ebony wolf was thankful that he hadn't utilized her blind spot. Blind spot attacks required Canoris to have complete trust and faith in her hummingbird's ability, and obviously that was not something she had yet. No suggestions for names were called out - another fortunate thing - while she wanted names, she needed to focus at least for the first few moments. Fighting a rock was way less intense than what she was doing now, and her nerves were on high alert simply because of the nature of her last encounter with the blue wolf before her.

When he leapt, Canoris moved back a step. A two-tone tweet to her left signaled that an intruder was coming at her. Eventually, the hummingbirds would begin to recognize what was and what wasn't in her line of sight. When line of sight was had, they'd focus on offensive move suggestion rather than defensive warning calls. Until they got there, though, Canoris requested they stay more defensive and focus on what was coming at her, everything, even if Canoris could obviously see it herself. She got the all clear from the right, a hummingbird moving up slightly to the edge of her vision, signaling that she was free to engage without worrying about another opponent surprising her from another angle. Good. So far so good. She readied herself to be hit, and then fell flat on her face as Elian swept her feet successfully from beneath her.

Because, you know, depth perception is a bitch with one eye, and her hummingbirds hadn't noticed. She growled lowly, signalling to the birds that they missed something, as she rolled and aimed to use the momentum to launch herself towards Elian's side, hoping to knock him to the ground. She coupled it with a burst of wind to enhance the attempted blow on the bigger wolf. Time to see how sturdy his footing was.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris' nostrils flared and led her to the lovely display her lover's child had prepared. Her eye widened as she approached, "That looks very... tasteful." She commented, both in aesthetics and smell. Sure, the ebony wolf preferred her own food raw and warm, but she wouldn't not enjoy a cooked meal if it was presented to her. It added some excitement to the boring flavors her tongue was used to, even if it did make the hummingbirds wriggle with slight discomfort on her back. The six were now traveling with her permanently, and Canoris thought with a few weeks more training they'd be up to par with her first bunch, but the whole "completely trusting a wolf among many other predators" hadn't fully sunk in with them yet. Canoris understood that - she wouldn't be surprised if they always harbored fear - but hopefully it would ease with time.

She stretched and settled down next to Evangeline, offering the mountain lion a small nod in greeting. She was really the only one she knew well here - being a second tier and recognizing that was a bit of a blow, but it would improve with time.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Her second warning, she better get going on that. She sat towards the back, not particularly invested but present nonetheless. It seemed everything was going steady - nothing too bad, nothing too good - and sometimes that was just the pace to be. A perfect place for her to regain her footing.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris was probably the only one that had decent dealings with the Exiles. She had nearly died on their treacherous territory, and none of it was their fault. She'd slipped on some loose stone and had fallen and given herself a concussion. Her owl friend had "saved" her, and the Exilers had let her leave without killing her. It was likely because she considered herself a loner - and it wasn't like they'd get anything for killing her. She would always be thankful that they left Surge alone too.

That was long ago, however, and she had heard of the heinous things they had done. She knew they were bad blood. And she couldn't say she didn't like the sight before her. "Good kill." She complimented Angel, who was a spitting image of his father in looks if not in personality.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Castor had given her a task to kill, and Canoris decided that was one she'd actually do. Despite wanting to join the Ruins to sate her darker side, she had yet to actually go do anything more than kill a cougar and flay it for an anatomy lesson. So it was time, and she had gone out and done just that. After the thrill of the kill faded, she recognized as she sat back and looked at the bloody scene before her that she may have gotten carried away.

The size and shape of the body and skull were the only indicators that the dead carrion was a wolf. Clumps of white fur were strewn about, tainted with scarlet. Most of the teeth were scattered on the sand around it, along with bits and pieces of unidentifiable organs. The skeleton was dismembered, some bones shining a pure, clean white in the desert sun, while others still had chunks of meat hanging on for dear life. The scent of blood covered up all other smells, leaving nothing but the acrid tang of iron in the dusty, dry desert.

It wasn't even a struggle. Canoris had no marks on her, and her six hummingbirds were intact, nestled into her back. The brown wolf frowned a bit as she began to clean the bits of blood and gore off of her body, nails, and face. She licked her lips, the taste of wolf echoing in her mouth. Well. Task complete, I guess.

    CANORIS ETERNITE

with broken wings I will fly

Canoris padded up and took her typical place towards the back of the meeting, stomach comfortably full after her early meal this morning. The demotion came as no surprise, and Canoris almost grinned at the fact that she was the only one. She hadn't been around, so she really had no idea how the group was doing. The fact that they only had to let her go was a good sign, and she honestly thought it should've been done much sooner. The amount of promotions left her a bit stunned, and she realized she'd essentially joined BlizzardClan's reciprocal group. No wonder she felt comfortable here. She murmured a congratulations to those who were promoted and took her leave once it seemed the meeting had calmed down.
