    • The femme only groaned in response at first, vigorously rubbing her head with a slight visible wince. That hurt. That really hurt. Ramming into a tree at high speeds was a lot more painful than she thought it would be. A part of her was giddy from the little injury, though she pushed such thoughts away; sure, she felt like she had just been in a battle against some sort of monstrous creature, but though she wished it would, pretending didn't change the fact that she crashed while chasing a rabbit and ended up dazed from that. Her head was throbbing with a terrible ache, her shoulders and chest were sore, and her front paws were scraped and felt like they were on fire from skidding against the ground and the splinters of the twisted tree roots writhing from underneath. She wasn't aware of any actual bruises or gashes yet except for the stickiness of blood dripping from a few small cuts on her front paws, and wasn't exactly an expert on identifying hidden wounds, anyways, though the side of her forehead and left, no, right shoulder was practically pulsing with pain a bit more severe than the others.

    As she brushed off the thoughts of her potential injuries, the ones of embarrassment became a lot more apparent, and hot anger flushed over her as she stuttered, attempting to sit up straight. "Yeah, yeah... I-I'm fine..." Her front paws slipped and she had to scramble to sit up again, something that she mentally cursed at herself for as it contradicted her words. Great. Not only did she feel like an idiot, she definitely looked like one, too. Searching for something to take the attention off of her slip-up, she mumbled, "U-uh... anyways, I'm still on the path to the waterfall... should we keep going?" She wasn't entirely sure if she was even going the right way, so she made sure to ask for conformation, needing time to orient herself and figure out where she lost her route so she could at least not embarrass herself any more.

    • Wei was there, though she was silent, the little femme lingering behind Xylia with a light smile given in greeting to the visitor. Bloodclan? Was that where they were from? She knew that Bloodclan was an ally of the Black Isle; there weren't too many alliances and enemies to remember, so it was easy for her to distinguish who was what and how to approach them. Still, seeing this ominous, silent feline perched upon their border, cloak hung over their dark form... it was a bit eerie, really. This stranger was an ally, sure, but their whole appearance and aura was enough to prick her fur with caution and a hint of excitement, part of her hoping that they were some sort of imposing villain like their looks suggested. She always wanted to meet someone like that, perhaps even end up in a fight with them. Then again, Bloodclan was an ally, so it was likely that there wouldn't be a fight. Disappointing, but it was probably for the best.

    This joiner looked like a real pirate! Sure, all the Isleites were pirates, but none of them bore the hook hands and peg legs that the ones in fiction always did, nor did any of them speak with the trademark accent she heard so often before. Perhaps all that did stay within fiction, she had decided. Perhaps pirate groups had moved beyond the traditional icons of their profession. But now, someone who actually looked and sounded like a true pirate was here, eyepatch and everything! From what she overheard before making her way over, it seemed like he knew of the Skulls, too, something that led her to wonder whether this group had formerly bore everything they now lacked to make them appear as a perfect pirate crew. All that stuff was cool, but now that she thought about it, keeping the accent would get old quickly. Plus, she wasn't exactly eager to lose an eye or a limb, even with how gloriously rugged it would make her look.

    Still, it was pretty awesome to see a real pirate, even if she didn't think she would want to adopt all the traits herself. Wei finally padded up to the group, wearing a light smile as she ducked behind her fellow Isleites only to be pushed forward by Bao, the little femme jokingly scowling at the giant salamander before turning to Kidd. Strange name, but hey, she wasn't one to talk. Besides, it sorta fitted him. "Hi!... uh..." As she piped up, one paw fiddled with the striped scarf she donned, gaze sliding to the side as she trailed off before brightening and focusing back on Kidd. "You... you were here when we were still the Skulls, right? Are you... a real pirate? Like, have you gone on amazing adventures to find treasures and fought in battles atop ships? Is that where you got your eyepatch?" She couldn't help blurting out a few questions, head dipping down as she realized she didn't even introduce herself. Man, she was just great at greeting joiners, huh? "Right, my name is Wei... welcome back, I guess? Yeah, welcome back! Nice to meet you!" Juuuust great.

    Wei had never celebrated Thanksgiving before, but the ideas behind it were enough to capture her interest. Giant feasts? Hanging out with family- well, not them, but friends? Parties? It was everything she could possibly dream of. Well, not everything, if she was being perfectly exact, since the peppy kid could dream of plenty more things beyond her wildest imagination, but this was pretty great. Who didn't like free food, after all? Not her or her pet, that was for sure. The feline stationed herself by a table stocked with breads that looked like they came straight out of a quaint little bakery, paws snatching up a loaf as she summoned up a knife, sliced it roughly in half, and slid the smaller part towards Bao. Ignoring the salamander's whining, her head perked up at Xylia's question, the femme summoning up the courage to pipe up with her own answer as she munched on her half of the bread.

    "This is my first Thanksgiving!" After a moment of thought, she added, "Are all of them as great as this? Also, um... isn't there supposed to be a lot of turkey eaten?" Weren't turkeys the trademark symbol of a typical Thanksgiving feast? A glance towards a table with meats piled onto it confirmed that she was right and had asked that question for nothing. "... wait, nevermind." Perhaps she should've looked before speaking. Well, she thought that was turkey, at least. She couldn't perfectly see it from where she was standing, and she didn't know what turkey tasted like, so that ruled out any taste tests for confirmation.

    So much for her record of arriving early. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. Scrambling into the ballroom with her giant salamander trudging behind as per usual, she skidded to a stop and plopped herself down, tail flicking over Bao just to irritate him as she settled in her seat. When her ears perked up and she tuned her attention in, the first announcement she caught was the one of the sailing trip, and the rest of her expression rose with uncontainable excitement. Another sailing trip? Like the one with the perilous storm and the fateful landing on this wintery island? That would be awesome! She already couldn't wait, and since there wasn't too much left for her to listen for, her attention was pulled away to daydreaming. What would they find this time? Why, her imagination could run wild for hours and hours with answers to just that question, a wide grin curving her maws as a few possibilities popped up in her mind.

    Those ideas were (almost thankfully) cut short as she picked up the name "Knights of Eden," curiosity now piqued by the title of the group alone. Knights of Eden... sounded like a group of chivalrous, saintly warriors to her. Wasn't Eden some sort of paradise or heaven? That only heightened her interest, and her paws shifted as she huffed and did her best to summon up the courage to say something, maws opening slowly as she mentally pushed herself forward and blurted out her thoughts. "Um... I-I'd like to come to the Knights of Eden with you!" It could be seen as her doing her job and learning about their potential ally, right? Even if she was turned down, she would still end up visiting later. What kind of territory would they have, she wondered, and what sort of beasts roamed it? She was much too determined to find answers to leave the subject alone.

    "SPEECH" ••• THOUGHTS

    Wei didn't want to learn about herbs. She held quite the defiance for the subject, and when she was defiant about something, it was near impossible to get the stubborn kid to change their views. Her father had tried to teach her about the uses of plants and she had begrudgingly played along, determined to not take away a single bit of knowledge from the lessons. Sure, it was useful and could be kinda cool, but she just didn't want to learn, her only exceptions towards any sort of medical knowledge being basic bandaging. If she was to ever learn something related to healing, she wanted it to be something cool like stitching up wounds, not mixing mushed flowers and leaves. This opposition spawned off of her general rebellion towards her parents, and grew into one tool she could use to reassure herself that they had no control over her, one that worked well. She had kept that strong defiance up for as long as she could remember and wasn't planning to drop it anytime soon.

    This disobedience is what brought her over, expression lacking a smile or an indicator of any sort of emotion, really. She was attending, sure, but she wouldn't learn anything. Most would simply avoid this lesson if they bore such a refusal to take anything away from it, but Wei wanted more than that, wanting to stubbornly face this "problem" head on instead of going around it. A strange motive, but she was present, at least.

    "SPEECH" ••• THOUGHTS

    The little feline bounded forward soon after, skidding on her paws and looking up at the territory around her with bright eyes. So this was the Knights of Eden? This towering forest certainly looked like a place fit for the celestial warriors she had in mind from the name, yep! She didn't even have a chance to voice her wonder before it flared into an expression of pure amazement at the dragon that approached, a squeak of excitement escaping her maws parted with a wide grin. That was a real dragon, one of ancient, divine stature that she expected to see in the creatures roaming here, though she certainly hadn't expected a dragon. The first thing that came to mind at the title of knights was fighting dragons, not being one, but she certainly didn't mind this. A part of her itched to start up a fight, to take the one chance she had at going up against this fantastical creature in a brawl, but their business here held that part back, not a single semblance of rationality over the fact that she wouldn't have the upper hand in such a fight making it into her thoughts.

    "H-hello, Cometo...philia! Why did everyone have a cooler name than her? It wasn't fair. "Um... we're here to talk about forming an alliance between us, uh, our groups, I mean... yeah. That was all she really needed to respond with, right? She didn't know exactly how to go about bringing up the topic, so she glanced over at Xylia and waited for the pirate queen to explain. Besides, it wasn't Wei's job to explain. She was just here to catch a glimpse of anything extraordinary.

    "SPEECH" ••• THOUGHTS

    Finally, it was time! She had been ready for a while now, bags packed and set to go for the trip she excitedly waited for, now with her as she made her way over. Her two duffels bags wobbled as they hovered beside her, her backpack stocked with the rest of her possessions, one of the femme's dear scarves slung around her neck as she trudged forward. It was almost a funny sight, the little feline trekking on with such stocky luggage, her giant salamander grumpily slithering behind with childlike whining. The eager kid had to stop and turn as her pet stopped in its tracks, wailing and sliding backwards. There had been a storm last time, and he had most definitely not enjoyed that experience, the reaction earning exasperated frustration from Wei. "Ei-?! You have to come! Stop being so stubborn and get on here!"

    A little game of tug-o-war ensued, the feline trying to pull on the much larger animal's broad head to drag it along, a task that she was used to yet not quite an expert at. Eventually, Wei got her way and Bao gave up, the two boarding the ship, one practically radiating excitement while the other hissed and wandered off. Of course, the excited one was much too joyous to pay any attention to the regret of her amphibian companion, the femme trotting about the lengths of the deck and waiting for others to hurry over.

    recruitments and perhaps adoptions seem like they’ll work well, though the last mass adoption didn’t have an amazing turnout. i’m considering having wei rally a little gang of adventurers to join the Black Isle, which could be new or existing characters, though I’m not entirely sure about that yet

    if another group like the rift would be willing to merge with the Black Isle and keep our name + territory, that’d be great!

    more involvement with allies and other clans could possibly help, though again, the ambassador system wasn’t a great success which reminds me, i need to have wei visit the rift soon. this could result in gaining more allies or perhaps more enemies, both of which put more motivation behind some of the actions and plots within a group, or something like the mock naval war you mentioned before

    in terms of plots, something stemming off of the sailing trips (which are already a nice event + way to expand the territory) could possibly help; getting stuck on a dangerous island, encountering a new threat or danger, etc. would make for good plots, perhaps, and I can assist in more detailed ideas if you like the sound of those. in terms of activities, putting emphasis on the pirate theme with raiding, stealing, trading, etc. could boost the uniqueness of the Black Isle and spawn more interest + interactions + activity in it

    these are all the things I can think of rn, ill try to come up with more + better ideas later!

    sorry for not posting too much lately! i've been a bit busy w finals coming up and i'm just trying to juggle all the characters i've impulsively created ;;

    ahh i would prefer to avoid a merge if possible, but i'm open to it happening if nothing improves! i honestly love the black isle / the skulls and would be sad to see it disappear, but if things don't improve, i won't go against merging w another group. i don't have much else to add other than my support for the merge as a last option; all the best groups to merge with have already been named. will all the ideas planned in the other ooc thread still occur this month, though?

    Wei hardly paid any attention to the two there; her gaze immediately went to the weapons laid out for sale, dark eyes shining with childish glee as the little femme let out a gasp of excitement. Those weapons... she wanted them. She definitely wanted them. She didn't need them with the extensive collection of blades and polearms she already possessed, but she wanted them. She'd only seen pistols in movies, she loved using daggers, and that axe looked like something that came straight from a tribe of warrior barbarians, despite her disliking for heavier weapons. As long as it looked cool, she would love it. "H-how much for all of these?! And, uh, yeah, d-do you take trades? I have weapons, too! Lots of them! Swords, spears, daggers, knives, everything!" She couldn't even begin to contain her enthusiasm as she blurted out her questions, a fact that was quite obvious from the grin on her maws and the sheer pep in her voice, the feline stuttering from speaking too fast. She just couldn't help it!

    "SPEECH" ••• THOUGHTS

    Wei couldn't help but to squeal with excitement as her offer for a trade was accepted, face lit up like a Christmas tree with sheer glee. Swords? Spears? Not only did she have those, she wanted to get rid of them, too! She had way too many lanky weapons on hand yet not a single awesome battle axe in her possession! Could this get any better? "I-I have all of that! I can trade with that kinda stuff, y-yeah! As she spoke, the little femme backed away a bit to allow for more room in front of her, a spear appearing in a cloud of smoke and falling onto the ground in front of her, the dark wooden shaft decorated in carvings and two crimson feathers hung at the base of the tip. Ears perked to listen carefully, she waved away the wisps of smoke remaining, clearly full to the brim with excitement. She was really going to get all these weapons!

    ... fire salts? What were fire salts? Did they have any? She didn't know. "Xylia, d-do we have fire salts?" A glance was cast towards the ferret for a moment before a sword materialized in another smoky puff, the feline wobbling on her paws as she let the other weapon lay on top of the spear, her conjuration an action akin to dizzily spamming a button and waiting for something to happen. As she did her best to settle her focus back onto summoning up another sword, her mind wandered to the little issue at hand- what if they had no fire salts? Could they still trade? They could, right? Right? She didn't want this to suddenly go wrong, no.

    // ahhh so will wei tbh!! she'd always be happy to trade for cool weapons! she wouldn't personally know about fire salts, though ;;

    "SPEECH" ••• THOUGHTS

    Activity... right. Maybe she shouldn't keep running off on her own all the time and actually work with others. Guilt panged at Wei as she took a seat and listened, though she tried to push it away with her anticipation for the next announcements, the little femme shifting and glaring down at the grumbling giant salamander besides her before focusing on Xylia again. Given her guilt, she felt she should at least try to keep her focus on the meeting. Then again, there wasn't much to focus on. No promotions, though a few seemed close to demotions (including herself, a thought she didn't want to dwell on for long), and only one major piece of news about dropping Darkclan as an ally. At least it wouldn't be hard to remember this information with how little of it there was, right? There was something positive.

    A few other things did catch her interest, though. Exploration party, prank war, possible raids... those sounded like fun! The feline was quick to perk up at the sound of those future events, a bright little smile settling onto her maws as she forced herself to gather her courage past her silencing guiltiness to speak up. "Um... I can help with the exploration party! And- and I can visit the Rift, too, yeah!"

    // wei can do both or either one of those tasks!! and again, sorry for my inactivity ;;

    nearly done with all my irl work, will get to getting the exploration party and the prank war invitation up tomorrow! gonna get the thread up for recruitment tonight, though

    and welcome to the black isle!! what kinda ideas do you have?

    the title for this is pretty self explanatory; wei here, who's the ace of espionage, is looking to recruit a few members into the black isle! these can be new or pre-existing characters, and dual alliances are perfectly fine (the black isle's activity level shouldn't be hard to keep up with alongside another clan since it's p slow-paced right now)! she currently feels that they need to live up to their pirate name and amass an impressive crew, so she just wants to get out there and drag in as many people as possible, no matter where they're from or who they are

    she'd most likely approach y/c and convince them that joining the black isle would be beneficial to them / befriend them and convince them to come along with her and form a little exploration gang with her, so they could either meet in a thread or simply jump right in w/ an intro in the group! she's also up for kinda manipulating your character to join or at least trying to; she's not good at that kinda stuff, but if y/c is the type to fall for even the simplest acts, it could work.

    plots / friendships could also stem from this, or if preferred, wei could convince herself to keep up an entirely businesslike relationship with y/c!

    "SPEECH" ••• THOUGHTS

    Ah, was Ymir going to already be visiting their other allies? If that was the case... "Uh, sir... could you tell them about the exploration party while you're there?" The little femme lifted her head in the male's direction as she spoke, smile wavering the tiniest bit with nervousness about proposing the question. She didn't need help, really, and she was tempted to run off to foreign territory on her own, but she was excited for this exploration party and wanted to get it rolling as soon as possible. Visiting other allies would take time, and that was a delay. Delays were no good. Tone peppier, she turned back to Xylia, continuing, "I can go tell the Rift about both the party and prank war, though! It'll be great!"
