• Wei had honestly become excited when the suggestion of a fight was brought up, eyes lighting up as she watched the conflict escalate a bit. Knowing some extinct-looking beast was one thing, but battling one would've been even cooler, though everyone settled down rather quickly and came to a deal. A bit of a disappointment, but also reassuring, considering they had just been through a storm and had few options, though a part of her continued to mull over the lack of a fight as she spoke up. "Nice to meet you, Lucid...dreams!" That was a pretty long name compared to hers, which only consisted of two syllables for her full name, but it sounded kinda mystical.
She thought this whole ordeal couldn't fascinate her more until Scarclan and a castle were mentioned. She definitely didn't know what Scarclan was, but it gave off the same mysterious and dangerous feel that the Skulls did, so it was enough to widen her gaze with childish interest. And living in a real castle? Could this get any better? "A whole castle for us to live in? Really?" Well, it was most likely true if she was saying it, but she couldn't help letting her excitement leak out, a few steps taken forward as she gazed off into the distance, trying to get a glimpse of any blurs of noble greys that she could make out to be part of a castle. Then again, it was on the other side of the island, but it didn't hurt - well, rocking on her toes did hurt, but she ignored it for now - to make a fruitless attempt in trying to see it.

• Wei had been dashing around the island excitedly before being hit by the snowball, acting more like an energetic toddler let loose on a playground than a teen, scuttling around to check every corner of the island with a bright glint in her wide, dark eyes. Through this, she ended up being the unfortunate target of the first snowball thrown. She had felt Winter's presence and knew for a split second that the snowball was being hurled towards her, but didn't move out of the way in time, snow flying off of her dappled back as she stumbled forwards and wildly shook her pelt with a yelp. "H-hey-!" That was cold. Both the snowball and the action committed against her, that is. Nudging her periwinkle-striped scarf back in place, she turned around with an expression of childlike anger laced with competitiveness, shouting again. "W-well, the challenge for a fight is accepted!"
With that, she began packing the white slush around her into a ball, a task that was fairly difficult considering her size and her scarf, which she repeatedly almost tripped over as she hastily rolled the snow with her paws. Frustration furrowing her brows and allowing a little huff to escape from her maws, Wei decided to try telekinesis instead, though that wasn't much of an improvement. She was used to wielding stable weapons, not mounds of slippery snow. Still, it would do. The snowball shuddered violently as it was lifted above her, and she flung it at Winter with all the strength she could muster up, a small grin curving her lips as it at least flew in the general direction of the snow leopard.

• Bolting in the opposite direction Winter was going was Wei, running off from the castle grounds to do a bit of exploring. Climbing, discovering new areas, possibly finding the kinds of treasures and monsters they spoke of in fairy tales- that was what she aimed to find. Instead, she nearly crashed straight into Winter, skidding to a sudden stop a few steps away from the snow leopard with a soft exclamation of surprise. "Ah-! ... hello?" Well, that was a bit embarrassing. Coughing lightly and straightening up her posture, she spoke up a bit more, head ducking down and shoulders hunching slightly despite her efforts. "Whoops... uhm, I haven't seen you around before. Are you new?" She was simply saying the first question that came to mind to act as a little distraction from her blundering, curiosity swimming in her gaze as she looked up at the larger feline. She looked like the kind of creature that would already be living here, not a joiner from afar, but she had already blurted out her query, not knowing that she was actually correct. Oh, well.

• A grin of triumph spread over Wei's jaws as she saw that her counter attack had been successful, childishness converting from anger to pride and remaining that way as Winter hurled a second snowball towards her. Now that she knew what was coming her way, it would be a bit easier to win at this little snowball fight. In a faint puff of smoke, she conjured up a knife as she saw a blur of white heading in her direction, the blade colliding with it and splitting open a shower of snowflakes. After that, the feline let the knife blink out of existence, and she immediately returned to scraping up snow, eventually making another snowball and whizzing it in the direction she thought Winter stood. 'Thought' was the key word there; she clearly missed as her opponent had already walked away, her expression of irritation returning as her gaze locked onto the snow leopard now conversing with Xylia.
Flattening herself to the freezing ground, she slunk towards the two, ears slightly perked up to listen in as she attempted to retaliate through a sneak attack. Building walls? With the amount of snow they had, they could probably build a whole new castle, perhaps even a new village to accompany it. That sounded pretty fun, but she wanted revenge first. Once she was fairly close to Winter, she wildly swerved her paws to hopefully fling a wave of snow towards the larger feline's face, snickering and ducking away before pausing to speak and then flick her gaze over to the mounds of snow available. "We can make a whole new castle, probably."

• Curiosity had dragged Wei over to the source of several voices, including one she didn't recognize, the little feline trotting over and stopping behind those who she did know. She had faintly caught onto the long string of names given, and was thankful to hear it clearly shortened to Ash. Everyone she had met so far had pretty names: Ash, Winter, Luciddreams, Xylia... then there was her name, which seemed kinda plain in comparison. "Ash," she repeated, mostly for the sake of remembering it better, the femme's head dipping down slightly as she continued speaking. "Nice to meet you! Uh, hope you enjoy your time here." Those were the only things to say that she could currently think of, so she fell silent after that, a smile laced underneath with slight bashfulness also given towards Ash.

• Wei hadn't tried that many different types of candy, but from the few she had sampled, she loved it. Her parents back home, being as strict as the femme remembered them to be, didn't let her buy much, and she had resorted to stealing bunches of sweets from shelves and shops and stuffing them in her scarf until she got home. With the fear of getting caught, the sticky stains left on her garments as evidence, and the whining from her pet begging for a share, it didn't seem worth it half of the time, and she begrudgingly went without candy most of the time. None of that applied here, though - well, except for the last part -, so she was quite excited as she peered at what Ash had brought, chirping her order as soon as she approached.
"Do you have any of those tiny jelly ones?" She paused for a moment, staring blankly as she racked her thoughts for the name of the candy she had in mind. "Not the little bears... the... ... jelly beans, yeah! Do you have any jelly beans?" Bao, slowly crawling besides his owner, let out a short bark-like sound, the giant salamander prodding Wei in the leg as a reminder that he still wanted a share. With mild irritation flattening the ends of her smile, she added on, "I also want the worst tasting ones you have for Bao, please."

• Wei thought she faintly remembered delivering a gift basket to the Rift before, so the name caught her attention as she overheard the ambassador, leading the feline to curiously trot over and stop behind her fellow Isleites. Her wide eyes flicked their gaze up to Luciddreams as the smilodon spoke, glinting with intrigue. Politics seemed pretty boring to her from the little bits she picked up from it, but hearing the official announcement from her queen made it sound kinda cool. Impressive, even. Her thoughts were distracted from such things as she noticed the gift basket Cosmicpaw had brought with her, though, and she spoke up after a few moments, head subtly dipping down a bit with shyness as she did so. "Hi! ... what's in the basket?" It sounded a bit awkward to her, but it would be a bit weird if she just went ahead and asked about the gifts, and she certainly didn't feel like waiting for someone else to ask.

• At the sight of the two candies she requested, Wei's eyes lit up with glee, a knife summoned up in front of her to cut both bags open in one swift slice before it disappeared into thin air. Before sampling her own, she nudged the Bit-O-Honey towards Bao, who eagerly snapped it up with speed that wouldn't be expected from such a sluggish amphibian, the giant salamander taking a moment to taste the candy before snatching up more. To her dismay, her pet actually liked them. With a huff and an expression of childlike anger crossing her face, she grumbled, "I hope you choke on those." Annoyance still remained on her face as she shoveled a pawful of jelly beans into her maws, though it disappeared and was replaced by her former smile as she remembered how great they were.
Her attention flicked over to Winter, and a little pang of jealousy hit her as she saw how much the snow leopard was enjoying the chocolate. She had dark chocolate before, the femme vaguely remembered, but she never got to try any other kinds. "I want chocolate, too!" With a hopeful gaze, her head swerved over to Ash with her full attention- that is, until Bao started trying to sneak a few of her jelly beans, resulting in the little feline kicking at the much larger salamander's head with her tongue stuck out.

• Again, it took Wei a little while to overhear the meeting, the femme dragging Bao out on a walk until muffled announcements from the ballroom prompted her to pause and scamper into the area, skidding on her paws as she dashed in and abruptly froze to stand and listen. She could definitely agree on activity getting better; the first week or so that she had been here, things had been rather quiet, and having a few more faces around was certainly fun. Then again, exploring and entertaining herself on her own was also pretty fun, but it wasn't as if the opportunity to do so was gone. The costume party was quick to catch her attention as her thoughts drifted away from the mentions of greater activity, dark eyes lighting up with gleeful interest. Her parents never let her go to parties, and she had barely mustered up the courage to sneak out a few times and hang out in the corners, though that ended fairly quickly once her father found out about her secret activities. Now that she didn't have any restrictions on that, she was excited for being able to attend such an event, and planned to head off as soon as she prepared a costume.
Next to prompt a bit more attention from her was the mention of her name, a wider smile forming on her maws as she received a shout-out. After all, who didn't like being praised and acknowledged? Not her, that was for sure. Such an accomplishment gave her the confidence to pipe up with an offer to do one of the assignments Xylia had mentioned, gaze occasionally switching to Bao as she held back the impatient salamander. "I can give out weekly tasks!" What kind of tasks she had to hand out, she didn't know, but she figured it would be a free-for-all with the open vagueness surrounding the term.
// i can try my hand at giving out weekly tasks, if you'd like!!

• Wei was lost. Utterly, hopelessly lost. She had gotten herself lost on purpose, though; dashing through thickets of trees and empty expanses without a clue as to where she was going was her favorite way to start her little expeditions, as placing herself in an unknown place and exploring various routes back home brought about the thrills and fun she always sought out. Raging rapids, colossal mountains, vast oceans, scorching deserts, beautiful glaciers- if a place existed, she wanted to find it. She was determined to set foot over every corner of the earth after previously being prevented from doing so, and there was nothing that got in her way to stop her. Well, leaving her little sailboat unattended and deliberately leaving herself stranded was a bit dangerous, but that was the whole point. No risk, no gain.
So here she was, meandering through a maze of verdant greens and earthy browns, the quiet ambience of the forest being the only thing accompanying her as she trekked through grassy grounds broken by the twisted roots that writhed underneath. At first, she thought she was alone out here in this place unknown to her, but suddenly, she felt a presence nearby, something different from the scuttling critters that made their home here. Such a realization caused her fur to prick up, head tilting and swiveling to try and find out where her senses had pointed to. Her diverted route eventually led her to a place beyond a messy clump of bushes, and the petite feline slunk in between the thin branches, moving with silent grace until she nearly tripped. Suddenly, she burst out of the bush, a little exclamation of surprise escaping her maws as she dashed forwards, quickly steadied herself, and skidded to a stop in front of whatever, no, whoever was there.

• It was nice that 'weekly tasks' weren't specifically defined; it gave Wei the freedom to offer up almost any mission she could think of to her fellow Isleites. Despite that, it did make things a bit harder, too, not providing any guidelines she could use to easily come up with such tasks, leaving her to think of random ideas on the spot. She had prepared a few possible ones since she was a bit too fearful of embarrassment to go on without any - since they had just moved to an entirely new place, the possibilities were practically endless -, and now stood on a random boulder right outside the castle doors, having to take a few minutes to rehearse what she would say before gathering the courage to call out. "Hey, weekly tasks are being given out here! Give me a call if you want one!" There, that was fine for now. All she had do to was wait, a little smile on her maws as she did exactly that.

• And so, Wei ended up face-to-face with a stranger for a second before she blinked and scrambled backwards, eyes still a bit wide from her sudden stumbling and her current situation. There stood someone who she, too, thought was kinda similar to her, dark eyes now glinting with curiosity as she stared at them and let an awkward little smile form on her face. Her first thought was that the other was quite pretty, and the femme took a moment to gaze at their exotic pelt, another soft stutter escaping her maws. Her own fur was a bit bizarre, with smoky black patterns dappling over pure white, but she had never seen such a gorgeous copper color before.
Then the subject of her attention switched, turning to the realization that she had summoned up a dagger in her panic, the weapon brushing against her own cheek as it hovered next to her. The blade then disappeared in a faint puff of smoke as she sent it off, her petite form leaning forwards a bit as the stranger spoke up. Doing her best to lift up her stature and tone with pride, she paused for a moment to think and then speak, her voice a bit hushed despite her efforts. "Yeah, this isn't my home. I sailed all the way to these lands to check it out! I heard there were some pretty cool places here!" A bit of a lie, but it suited what she was saying.
Despite the other feline's slightly shaky words, she was a bit intimidated by their stare, her gaze drifting off of her brilliant eyes as she attempted to swallow her nervousness and offer up a question that she had in mind. "So, uh, I guess you're from around here... obviously." She chuckled a bit after she muttered the last part, cracking a somewhat wider smile for a moment before letting it fade as she continued. "Have you seen anywhere like the rumors around here? Where am I, anyways?" Might as well get some information while she had the chance, though she was left to wonder whether her clueless questions made her look worse. Hopefully not.

• "Alright! Um..." Wei cheerily called out almost as soon as Luciddreams approached and spoke up, though she had to pause for a few moments to remember exactly what she was going to say. "... uh... maybe you can start decorating the castle? Make it look all spooky and pirate-y and intimidating! I mean, it already looks that way.... interior or exterior, it doesn't matter! Pick what you want as long as something ends up looking even better than before!" Clearing her throat after her rough start, she glanced back to the castle- it did already look pretty cool to her, but some of the rocks were crumbling and it could use a bit of touching up on the outside, and the hallways could use a bit of color, and some of the rooms needed better wallpaper, and some more flowers in the ballroom would make it look extra elegant... she decided not to go on, returning her focus to the task-giving at hand.
Turning to Ash with a light smile, she continued on, trying to sound a little more sure in herself this time. "You can do something wintery, maybe! Building snowmen, drinking hot cocoa, things like that! We can all huddle around and have some fun in this weather, yeah!" Her dark eyes lit up with glee as she piped up, more excited than before. Wei hadn't done most of what others considered to be typical winter activities, and she was definitely eager to try them out in the company of her fellow Isleites. The snowball fight had been pretty fun, so she had lots of hope for what else was to come thanks to the endless snowy weather.
Keeping her widened smile up, she then settled her gaze on Xylia, bouncing on her toes a bit as she gave out the last task out of the three that she currently had to assign. "Xylia! You can lead a little exploration team to go, well, explore someplace! There's tons of places I- we haven't checked out yet, and we might find something pretty amazing if we look around enough!" Another one she was definitely eager to participate in. She would get to doing a bit more exploring on her own later, but for now, she had this little trip to look forward to.

• At Tigerlily's question, her grin disappeared for a brief moment, an expression of surprise bringing a blank, wide stare to her before she returned to her tilted smile. "The world is amazing! There's so many cool places out there that I wanna see! I'm sure there's something you would love out there, too!" Staying in her own house? She had done that for her entire childhood and was sick of it. How could anyone stay cooped up in one place for so long when there were so many extraordinary places to visit, so many people to meet, so many wondrous things to discover? She couldn't imagine herself ever returning home after everything she had experienced so far after running away, not in a million years.
The whole part about her not being from anywhere else sounded kinda sad to Wei, considering the way she phrased it. It sounded like she was forced to stick around in a place she didn't even like, something that reminded the femme of her old home. Perhaps she was being a bit overdramatic over nothing more than strict parents, but she absolutely loathed her life there. That plus the description of this area as nothing more than rotten logs struck up a flare of sorry pity in the feline, her voice lowering with a tone of childlike worry, lightening up as she went on to talk about herself. "That... doesn't sound fun. You shouldn't live in a place you don't really love. Speaking of living places, I'm from the Black Isle! We've got pirates and a castle and mountains and everything! That's the kinda stuff I'm looking for here- that's the kinda stuff worth looking for!"
She began to bound off, taking a few strides before turning back to the stranger with a wide smile. "Come on, I'm sure there's more than rotting logs here! I'll find something amazing around here, just you wait! With a name like the Thunderlands, there's definitely more to it than that!" Pausing for a moment, she then added on, "... right, I haven't even said my name! Name's Wei!" It was a bit strange to suddenly invite a complete stranger to follow her on her search for a place worth exploring, especially since she had barely even introduced herself to the other feline.
-
• • - I KNOW WHERE THE GREENER GRASS GROWS, YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO FOLLOW TO THE OTHER SIDE! - • •
• At the stranger's soft admittance to agreeing with her, her smile brightened, a little approving tilt of the head accompanying the grin. All she had to do was help them find out exactly where that place was. She thought she quite liked the task she subconsciously assigned herself; Wei didn't like being bound to rules and jobs, but having a purpose to this adventure made it all the more exciting, giving her something to determinedly search for as she explored the vast lands beyond. It made her think of some sort of fictional quest from a movie or game or something of the likes, and those always turned out to be exceptionally thrilling, with twists and turns and exciting encounters and battles around every corner, with quirky people and terrifying beasts to meet in different sorts of situations... now she was really enthusiastic about this trip.
As the other femme called out and began to follow after her, she turned her head, stumbling a bit as she was distracted by the sound of her own name. Right before she was given the name of the other, she realized that she didn't know such information, even, and she paused to ask, only to quickly nod along as her question was answered for her. Tigerlily, huh? That question was just as pretty as the feline appeared to be- quite admirable, in her opinion. Her name wasn't anything special; she couldn't even remember what it meant. "Tigerlily! Pretty name!" Might as well speak her thoughts.
She began to trek on after that, making a show of summoning up one of her decorated knives and swiftly slashing at a heap of foliage that was in her way, glancing back yet again to gauge Tigerlily's reaction and then to take in what she was saying. Right, they were still complete strangers apart from knowing each other's names and residences. "How do I become a... not-stranger? Eh, that sounds weird..." Her voice dwindled off at the end, accompanied by an awkward chuckle as she became both amused and annoyed towards her bizarrely phrased question. Oh well.

• "W-wait for me, please!" She had forgotten that she had recently assigned Xylia to the task of exploring despite her sheer excitement for the activity, the petite femme now dashing across the ground and skidding to a sudden stop as she saw the group leaving, a grin skewed with the imbalance of gawkiness and energetic enthusiasm spreading across her maws. "Sorry! I'm coming along, too!" Boy, was this embarrassing. She managed to forget about a job that she came up with and gave out herself. Then again, at least she was here now, and it wasn't as if a massive crowd had gathered before she had.
After her little mistake, she attempted to shake off her lingering awkwardness and let her excitement shine through, eyes twinkling as she spoke again. Exploring was fun on her own, but with a whole group, it really felt like she was on an adventurer's crew, the kind that braved dungeons and lands both unexplored and conquered, slaughtered terrible beasts, and found amazing treasures. That's what a pirate basically was, right? And she was a pirate now. "Are we going to cross the... breakwaters? They sound dangerous!" The way her voice hushed with amazement at the mention of peril was a bit strange when combined with her childish looks and voice, but in her mind, danger meant true, unrestricted, thrilling excitement, and the sound of these breakwaters definitely radiated danger.

• As soon as Wei was drawn over by the crackling of the fire, her attention switched to the snacks prepared, a little, hushed gasp of excitement escaping her maws as she peered at them. She'd heard about s'mores and campfire activities so often yet never had the opportunity to try such things, her parents preferring to keep her home to do something more productive, the slight bitterness from such memories washed away by pure enthusiasm as she snatched up a stick. "I've never had any of this before!"
After a few moments of fumbling with her paws, she found that it was rather hard to get a proper grip on the stick, especially as Bao caught up with her and started trying to steal any food it could get its grubby hands on. Nudging back the giant salamander, she summoned up a long, thin knife - something beginning with an 's', she thought it was called -, instead telekinetically using that to skewer a bunch of chocolate, marshmallows, and crumbling graham crackers onto it as she plopped herself down by the fire and let the knife hover over it. Also dragging a cup of hot chocolate near her with a second one to keep her pet quiet, she decided to pipe up with the question on her mind, head ducking down a bit into her colorful scarf as she spoke. "Um... will we do all the bonfire stuff? Like, telling stories and singing songs and all that!"

• • - I KNOW WHERE THE GREENER GRASS GROWS, YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO FOLLOW TO THE OTHER SIDE! - • •
• Wei also let a little laugh slip at the idea of protecting Tigerlily from monsters, eyes lighting up as she continued to think about it. "I'll fight off any monster that dares to step in my- er, our path, yeah!" Would she meet a terrible beast like that out here? Honestly, she hoped so- it'd be pretty cool to be able to say that she defeated a hulking monster like the ones in fairy tales, especially if she brought back some giant trophy like its tooth or claw or something else of the likes. Playing the rescuer and protector of the supposed damsel in distress sounded like fun, too; didn't that always lead to true love in the story books? Just the thought of such a dreamy happily-ever-after prompted her to let out a wistful sigh, though she cut those thoughts off there as she tripped over a few stray twigs while gazing off into the distance.
That didn't help much, though, as she nearly fell over again at Tiger's other remark, having to stop for a moment to stare at her and gauge her expression. Was that... flirting? With her? Such a smirk couldn't possibly connote anything else, but, despite her helplessly romantic idealizations, she was terrible at judging whether or not others actually felt that way about her. She wasn't innocent, no, just a horrible flirter. "Ah, yeah... w-well, what kind of places do you like?" After saying that, she mentally slapped herself for possibly ruining the mood, deciding to slap an awkward grin back on and continue speeding ahead, pretending that never happened as the flustered lashing of her dyed tail suggested otherwise. If God was real, she was praying for a chance to make up for that terrible response later.
// aaA sorry again!! and another sorry in advance bc I may not be able to respond until Saturday (Friday night in some timezones?? I think) since i'll be caught up with a lot of work until then!
