//did I really not post this last night? woops

Optional assignments indeed, it was like extra credit work except there is no credit because there is no grade. Still, Solas appreciated Ko's attendance; he was in a unique position and the principal decided to approach him about it later. For now, a task; grey eyes looked over one of many to-do lists, picking some of the things that could be entertaining yet helpful. "Professor Komaeda, please host a session to get rid of - or to enjoy the results of getting rid of - outdated homeworks and textbooks in a sustainable way. A bonfire, perhaps." Unaware of Ko's pyromania, he thought it might be a good way to get everyone to relax.

Next up was the black feline that had joined only days ago, a pleasant surprise that they were already looking to contribute. "A dangerously broad statement, Solas quipped in return with a slight smirk, before answering a bit more seriously. "Very well. Maxim, could you host an exhibition of some sort? About something that interests you." Not much was known about the tom, why not start off with his talents or hobbies? And in a way that could appeal to others, perhaps. Honestly he was just winging it.

//SunClan and StormClan have been invited!

The choice of costume had not been easy, Solas wasn't really one to play the role of a demon or a vampire or even, ironically, a werewolf. So instead he threw on a ketchup-stained lab coat, filled the pockets with pointy-looking objects, and fluffed up his fur to look the part of a mad scientist. As he headed from the finished panic room to the gym to wait for participants, the pup noticed a conspicuously familiar figure peering around beneath a sheet. "Whimsychatter," he greeted cheerfully, "You've done a great job with the place. Consider me to be properly, ah..." What was the word for it again? Oh, right. "Spooked."

A series of grunts announced Solas's presence. He appeared from off to the side, dragging by a rope what must have been at least twice his own weight in papers through the night-dampened grass. Yes, he'd researched how to tie a rope around a stack of papers for this specific occasion, because these useless forms and handouts and unsent drafts were evil and deserved to burn in a fire. That is, they were cluttering up the office and this was the best time to get rid of them. "Hello, Professor," he finally greeted after bringing the whole thing close to the fire, pausing to enjoy its warmth.

The young wolf selected a smaller stack that would fit between his jaws, and tossed it victoriously into the bonfire. Fwoosh, followed by a pop, then back to its quietly erratic crackling. He watched for a moment, chatting idly to fill the space. "Did you know that some religions believe one can send items to their ancestors by drawing them on paper and burning it?" He chuckled, making a brief attempt at humor: "I wonder what those spirits must think of random essays and legal contracts showing up in their world."

It was becoming increasingly apparent that Solas was far too young to rule a group. He may have the solemnity and the courtesy to disguise it well, but he was constantly unsure of himself, and the sheer amount of work was causing him to fall far behind on his studies - he'd spent so much of his free time reading about politics and logistics that he could barely do more than basic math. Though the prioritization was necessary, it was neither healthy nor sustainable, the same went for his lack of socialization and exercise. A pup simply wasn't meant to do it all so soon. In short, he needed out.

A brief discussion with Komaeda had offered Solas a way out. He'd been too hesitant to promote the odd canine to Vice Principal in the past, being aware of the other's current leadership of The Rift. But Ko had also shown in the past few weeks that it wouldn't get in the way of The District's interests, and so it seemed a dual leadership was in order. "Please gather for a brief announcement," Solas's voice rang over the PA system.

The pup appeared on the auditorium's stage once more, keeping a straight face as he let the seats fill up. "I will keep this brief. I have decided to step down from my position, in order to spend my time as a full-time student. I may yet have a childhood." He smirked to himself, indicating that was a joke, albeit not a very funny one. "Nagito Komaeda will step up to take my place as Principal. It has been an honor to serve here. Dismissed."

Well, that was.... uhh. For once, Solas wasn't really sure what to say about this. More than that, he wasn't sure what to feel. This was not who he'd put in charge... literally three days ago. Sure, Rose was a familiar face, but she was also one with many loyalties, and putting her in charge might mean the end of any distinctiveness between StormClan and The District. But then again, to be fair, he'd ceded all influence in the group when he decided to immerse himself in his studies. It was entirely within Komaeda's jurisdiction to abdicate to a successor just as Solas had, and he knew he had to accept that.

Besides, Solas was going to hit six months tomorrow, and he intended to show some maturity for it.

However, what he wasn't going to do was voice his concerns. They were irrational and ill-founded, mere whining, and to speak his mind would be to invalidate any logic he claimed to possess. Instead, the former principal nodded slightly to Rose from his spot in the audience, as if to imply that he had nothing to say. There wasn't much for him to discuss until she proved herself to be either competent or incompetent.

It was nice to have time to learn. The lack of teachers was painfully apparent, but that didn't stop Solas from pursuing all the subjects he'd missed during his month of leadership. Instead of logistics and political theory, he buried his days in physics and literature, chemistry and the arcane. There were so many new things to explore, and there was also so much knowledge to share; The District had a lack of actual classes going on, and, the wolf decided, it was his turn to help change that.

"Your attention please. I will be hosting a physics lab in one hour, in room 105," his voice rang low but firm, before he slipped back into the classroom to prepare for his presentation. There were so many enchanting things to share about physics; Kepler's laws of orbit, Gauss's flux derivations, Kelvin's observations of thermodynamics. But he decided to restrict himself to the more directly applicable parts, like mass and force and conservation of energy. Maybe if there was enough interest, he'd get to the truly fascinating bits, but rarely did he ever find someone actually fascinated by science.

As promised, Solas opened the classroom's door an hour after his announcement. At the front (or the back, depending on one's perspective) of the classroom, the wolf's small figure sat atop a black-topped table armed with various contraptions. A paper-mache tree stuck out of the sink with a toy monkey hanging from one of its leaves; a toy dog stood by the edge of the table with a long string attached to the end of its nose; two rolls of toilet paper were stacked at the center of the table. How many of these demonstrations he actually got to do would depend entirely on the class's attention span.

Everything set up, he waited for any students to wander into the classroom.
