Solas turned his head slightly, shifting his weight to keep warm. Curiosity shifted to fascination, and he soon forgot all about the fact that he was lost. "A spirit? Where are you from? Are there more of you?" The excited questions turned to silence as the pup had the grace to realize he might be overwhelming the self-proclaimed spirit.

He hadn't seen a spirit before - or had he? the idea of it seemed fuzzy - and thus had no idea what to expect. So many different cultures, according to his readings, had such varying ideas of what a spirit was. For some, a spirit was no different from a bogeyman, rarely seen but often used to scare children into obedience. For others, spirits were friends and guides to the people, even visiting in dreams or in the form of guides. Many even worshiped some kinds of spirits, while fearing and ritually protecting themselves from others. He tended to lean somewhere in between, theorizing that perhaps each spirit could be just like a person, misunderstood for their differences.

What was... he? Well Cookies was sort of thinking of him having a similar background to what he tells the inquisitor in DAI, but having sealed his memories away for some reason, like a fresh start. Or just inno pup Solas because that's fun too. "I... thought I was a wolf." He glanced down at his paws just to make sure that fact hadn't changed. "A mortal, or so I was led to believe. That all depends on where we are." If this was some sort of afterlife, he might very well be as much of a spirit as Cole, only unaware of it. "I woke up there after a bizarre dream. Or perhaps I am dead. Again, it depends."

The bottom part of the guide is just broken because of some syntactical issues. F/e silver is no longer a color, the "
" part has a ' in it, some of the fancyposts are never finished (no ' after the end of their parameters) and some of them are never closed with a trailing [/fancypost] (which used to be okay but I think the new editor blows up if you do that?)

    If you can send a
of the guide's code I can fix it for you! Trying to work backwards from a quote is giving me a headache, the editor keeps trying to add in unnecessary code.

Solas was a carnivore by birth. He had to accept that. But as a wolf, not all his nutrients came from meat alone, and he tried to eat the stuff as rarely as possible, so as not to impose too much on the few hunters of the group. The pup was a bit too young to hunt successfully, although he did try, he was just too small to take down large prey. So he chose to do what he was doing today: collecting berries.

The student wandered out of the school with a small basket that was somehow still bigger than his own head. After a pause, he turned around to call out to his fellow District members. "I will be picking berries today, if anyone wishes to join," he would offer, before turning back in preparation to head out.

Fixed for the most part! May want to paste into the HTML editor as the
ends up being replaced with an HTML-only element. <3

Solas nodded to the small group, recognizing Whimsychatter and his adoptive parent, but not the kit. This might be a good way to get to know each of them better. "Very well. The forest should contain a variety of red, blue, and black colored berries. I do not recommend eating any brightly colored berries you don't recognize," he would brief them, after all, there were a lot of poisonous bright red berries out there. Though his words lacked an enthusiastic tone, the wolf appeared happy to have some company for a change, even if he didn't want to state it outright.

He would lead the group to the territory's forest before walking around in a seemingly random path, sometimes sticking his nose into bushes or underneath fallen branches. Suddenly, Solas disappeared into a particularly dense group of foliage, returning a few minutes later with a red muzzle and several raspberries in his basket. "Would anyone happen to know how to cook with berries?"

Maybe he'd try his hand at fruit tarts later. Or if he didn't have enough, perhaps toppings on a cake or with a bowl of whipping cream.

Solas had seen very little of his adoptive parent, though she was nice, she was always in her office. The wolf himself had his own education to attend to, and voluntarily spent his free time alone anyways. He would occasionally come to check in, but the door to her office was usually closed; though not surprising, he respected Windchimes's privacy as much as he valued his own. So, for the most part, he did his own thing.

Surprisingly, Solas enjoyed parties, and social events in general for that matter. He usually entertained himself by watching the different people interact with each other, though he wasn't shy when others wanted to strike a conversation with him. As for the... less candid part of parties that occurred among young people, he was adventurous enough to try many things once, but cautious enough to keep himself sober and generally healthy.

The pup had just attended one such party the night before, spending most of the time debating paradoxes with a few of his classmates. The party had ended, but they continued talking for so long that the sun was soon high in the sky. As the number of unexplored topics dwindled, and the ratio of yawns to words in the conversation surpassed one-to-one, they began to part ways in favor of sleep and more coherent conversations at a later date. This was typical of Solas, he was fairly responsible with his own sleep schedule but occasionally stayed out late when the conditions were forgiving.

The last of his friends to leave, he stayed back to gather some of the abandoned cups and napkins lying around, when he noticed a familiar scent nearby. "Good morning, Windchimes," he greeted, setting his collected trash down with the rest of it before looking over at the principal. She looked happy, determined. It seemed a rather foreign look for her face. "Has something changed today?"

"Wonderful. I should hope to compare recipes later, if you are interested," Solas offered to Whimsy. It wasn't out of competitive spirit, or in any sort of attempt to judge the other, he actually just wanted to try cooking together. The small wolf was too clumsy to do most things without making a mess, he was still developing his motor skills after all. Someone older might be able to help with the more advanced recipes - like preparing puréed berries for macaron filling, or operating a blender for smoothies. Everyone liked sweets, right?

Without indicating it, he noticed the others' hesitation as if they were not sure what they were looking for. Solas turned his attention to the forest around them, scanning for a cluster of berries they might harvest together. "Over there - blackberries! The last of the season," he added with a faint smile. The larger, more ripe ones would likely be very sweet, while the smaller, reddish ones would be edible but sour. The wolf led the way to the bush, collecting berries while staying off to one side in case anyone cared to join him. An irritated trio of yellow jackets seemed to circle him in disapproval, but he hardly paid notice to them. He'd leave a few berries for the plant's resident insects, and besides, the hornets' stingers would have too much difficulty piercing his fur to be worth doing anything about it.

Cleaning. It wasn't much of a punishment for Solas, especially because he believed he was being punished unfairly. See, he'd started dozing off while doing his homework the night before, and when he woke up again, thousands of lines of tiny, indistinct marks were written all over the page and even onto the desk it was sitting on, penned with the wolf's own ink-dipped quill. He swore he genuinely did not know where they came from, but the teacher would have none of it. Along with having to re-do the assignment, Solas was assigned to clean all the desks in the classroom along with the chairs and chalkboard. He attempted to explain himself only once, and when he was ignored, he simply accepted his fate. In a few days, he would silently fill out a request to transfer to a different class.

For now, as the final classes ended, Solas would walk into this classroom with a large rag and a bucket full of soapy water, leaving the door open behind him. With a soft sigh, he dipped the rag in soap and began to work, scrubbing the ink from the wooden top of his desk.

OOC: This is not an attack on Windchimes or their roleplayer. I am following this guide on clan takeovers.

Although I do not hold a high position, it would appear the leader is the only one who does as even the deputy has stepped down. I don't believe anyone would disagree with the statement that this clan has fallen into inactivity, and while this could be somewhat related to a lack of events or muse or traditions, having an inactive leader is arguably the most detrimental part. The current leader, Windchimes , has made 6 IC posts in the past month, none of which were made within 7 days of this post without an inactivity notice - in fact, promises of more activity were made and broken - which is why I feel it is necessary and justified to make this takeover.

I would like to note that while I previously did not support a forced change in leadership, the activity of the clan has declined much further than it was when the first complaints of leader inactivity were voiced. What I had believed at the time to be a normal lapse in muse has grown to become an abnormal lack of activity, which, while it may or may not be out of the roleplayer's control, is something the group cannot compensate for without someone with the powers of a leader; specifically the authority to promote and demote, hold mass adoptions and high-position tryouts, approve and initiate large-scale plots, host events and raids, and appear accessible to the common roleplayer.

I believe I am fit to initiate this takeover as my character has been active in this board for a while - more active, perhaps, in the past week than others. I am aware of my character's young age ICly and am willing to develop him around this; similarly, I am willing to talk, publicly or via PM, with anyone who believes they would make a better leader. This can even mean reinstating Windchimes if they prove - not promise - an increase in activity and responsibility fit for leadership.

I welcome any questions, comments, concerns, etc. both in this thread and via PM. Again, this is not meant as a personal attack but rather as a last-ditch attempt to revive the board.

IC: Solas stood upon the stage of the auditorium, waiting to attract a curious if small crowd. As the seats began to fill out, the young wolf drew in a deep and shaky breath. "Everyone," he began, sweeping the audience with his gaze, "I believe The District requires a change in leadership. Therefore, I will be stepping up as Principal for the time being, and will begin attempts to revive our status within the week. Questions?"

The sound of a fellow student caught his attention, and the wolf rested his now ink-soaked washrag in its bucket in order to respond. "Indeed I am. Something about learning the consequences of my actions," he barked, giving Darkkit a knowing look as if to add an unspoken contempt for this classroom's teacher. He didn't expect it to be reflected by the other, the kit seemed to actually enjoy the ridiculous reactions of their shared supervisors, but he searched for some sort of confirmation nonetheless. Not that Solas would ever admit to it. "Care to make this more interesting? A cleaning race, perhaps?"

    INTO THE DARKNESS ➳

It seemed to be a rather quiet time, they could certainly use a good party - maybe two - to liven up the place. Upon Whimsychatter's announcement, Solas would head into the classroom, taking a seat atop one of the tables off to the side. Alas, he'd never planned a party with others before, so he wasn't entirely sure what was involved. It would probably be good manners to defer most of the credit and decision-making to the one whose idea it was in the first place. "I'm interested. Where shall we begin?"

Thanks! I would understand if puddles would rather I make a new guide from scratch, however.

Forgot to add this in the post but here's what I've got planned if no objections:

    - HP tryouts starting Monday 10/2, with round one / SHP promotions ending Sunday 10/8 and round two / HP promotions ending Sunday 10/15.

    - Mass adopt sign-ups starting Tuesday 10/3 with the mass adopt itself being held Friday 10/6.

    - Alliance updates and requests throughout this week and the next.

    - Updated or new guide by Sunday 10/8, but likely earlier.

Should note that I will be somewhat less active October 9th through 11th as I have exams every day during that time.

So Solas here is attempting to take over The District as a benevolent dictator sort of thing. Since he may end up as a leader, Solas is going to need someone to take the burden off of him, whether that's through protecting him, guiding him, doing the dirty work, or even providing stress relief in... assorted ways. The plan is that he's going to try to summon something (an angel, spirit, demon, demigod - whatever your character is) as he teaches himself magic, but will get the incantation and some ingredients wrong and accidentally bind your character to unconditional servitude for the rest of his mortal life.

    - ICly, your character would feel a strong need to obey any orders given by Solas. He's not usually abusive, but the binding spell itself may cause immense pain to y/c if they disobey him, or if he becomes too angry, sad, or afraid, up to your discretion as a roleplayer.

    - OOCly, your character just has to join or at least frequently visit The District. Preferably we would hold a thread or private conversation for plots, as I have many! If your character becomes incredibly inactive (f/e not posting for 3 weeks without notice) this can just be dropped with some IC excuse about the magic wearing off.

If you end up wanting out, this can end in many ways; from cooperatively finding a way to break the spell to y/c plotting an assassination of Solas, depending on your character's personality and what they would do.

    Any interest?
