rose smiled as he accepted, glad that she wouldn't be going alone. or, rather, that she'd be going at all; it felt strange, knowing that nightstar was the ultimate authority at this point. he was the leader, he had nine extra lives, or so they claimed.
but he still felt the same. she still felt comfortable, safe with him. there was no anxiety of impressing a leader; it was just nightstar. nightbird, a nagging little voice in her head reminded her, and somewhere in the back of her mind, further than that voice, she shushed it. names were... well, she'd talk to him about that situation later. first, she wanted to check in on her friend. it'd been a long few days, and she worried for him.
"how are you faring with all the leader... stuff?" she'd inquire once they exited the camp, falling in stride beside him. there was genuine concern in her eyes; she'd heard of leaders struggling with the stress of the job, and she didn't want nightstar to follow the same fate as his predecessor.
"i've heard there's been a lot of... tension with other clans. are you thinking along the lines of peace or victory?" it was genuine curiosity, really. she always favored peace and love and happiness, but that wasn't the world, and she knew it. sometimes, you had to sacrifice victory for peace, but sometimes, it took victory for peace. she was no politician, despite her diplomatic tendancies. more of a therapist than anything else. whatever his choice, though, she worried for the toll it'd take on him.
she worried about far too many things concerning nightstar.
rose is open to really anything, tbh ^^ does he have a mantor? idk, i'd love to get her an apprentice
she'd be such a strange, funny little mentor lmao
lol, just friends then?? ^^
and i'm heeere, bored as well lmao
true, true lmao
i do have one of pumpkin's kids, puddlekit, coming into tc. but i'm too tired to get her set up tonight ^^
i got bored and ended up making pud lmao
she's such a smol, sassy bean, it's great
so, *eventually*, rose will get an official warrior name to signify how much she's changed as a person since joining shadowclan. however, i have no clue what it'll be.
i really want something super unique and idk kind of feminine? she's just this sweet precious flower tbh. the only idea i have that i like so far is rosewater, so like take vibes from that i guess? something that would make sense for her. i'd also like to keep rose in her name, as either a prefix or a suffix.
i want to collect a nice big list and decide from there!
good morning all!!
she'd done it since she was a kitten, collected the little shards of mirrors. at first, it hadn't made sense to even her; why not glass or pebbles or anything else? but with age came a sense of understanding of her younger self. the mirrors had made her feel less alone. when you had no one but yourself, when you had an uncaring, unexpressive family, being able to look at a smile made you feel better sometimes - even if it was your own.
she had a lot of different little pieces, in her old den. but it was a days walk, and the warrior couldn't be bothered to find some excuse to disappear for that long - nor did she want to admit that she wanted her own sort of childhood toy. besides, she wasn't alone anymore. she had friends, some sort of strange little family had begun to form and she was happy with it. but mirrors held a certain signifigance to her still. they were a part of her that she still couldn't fully comprehend.
she'd been on the prowl, following a faint scent of mouse, when it caught her eye. bright, almost blinding when the sun hit it right. she saw it, and immediately, the old scent was forgotten in favor of the shiny little piece of glass.
further investigation proved her correct. a piece of a mirror, sharply cut in it's breaking. she wasn't sure where the rest was, but she never wanted the whole thing. just the little pieces. nimble paws tried to move it, sit it facing forward so it wouldn't keep catching sunlight, perhaps so someone else might find it and appreciate it as she did. but she underestimated the edges and gasped as pain shot through her palm.
"lovely." she muttered, eyeing her paw pad as a steady stream of blood emerged from the wound. sometimes, she wondered if it was nromal to bleed as much as she did. or get hurt as she tended to do.
holding her paw to her chest, the blood rubbing against and staining her fur, which was only a few shades lighter, she began walking towards camp, hoping nobody would question how she'd sustained such an injury. she was loner born - she didn't need anyone thinking she was as fascinated with twoleg things as a kittypet. no, not all their things - just mirrors.
wails caught the attention of the willowy warrior. pained, perhaps not physically, but emotionally - though, they were all but the same to rose. sometimes, the clan cats could shock the fem, so few in tuned with their heart and mind. they were physical creatures, the lot of them.
naturally, the ginger feline's trot picked up to a run as she headed for the noise, slowing as a form came into sight.
jaggedsight! jaggedsight... come back... please i'm begging you... jaggedsight... please... though she'd never known jaggedsight personally, she knew of him. she'd been there at flaxenstar's death, and she'd been there when he'd run across the thunderpath. she hoped he'd fared well, as she did with everyone, but with word of fire, she couldn't imagine a blind feline faring well in a fire.
what else could she do but hope?
"oh, dear..." she whispered, seeing his distress. there was a softness in her eyes when she regarded him, when she regarded everyone - like a mother seeing another kit. not her own, but there was still a desire to help, to fix, to protect. she took hesitant steps towards him, unsure if he'd lash out in his distress or not. "are you alright? you're looking for jaggedsight?" she inquired, wanting to be clear.
tracking && you're giving me the feels mate
for half a moment, rose looked like a kitten again, featherkit's age, eyes wide and circular as she watched the tense exchange between the females. she had never been the greatest in these situations - she'd prefer if everyone just got on wonderfully. sunshine and rainbows, right?
"you're right, northernwind, we don't know you." she said, trying to be... diplomatic about it. that always worked, right? right? "i'm sure mustangheart didn't mean to offend you. if anyone here likes to talk, it'd be me - i'd go all day if no one shut me up. however, i'm sure we'd love to get to know you."
she was half attempted to try to get them to... hug or something. but, alas, these fem's were older and smarter, not kits who's petty issues were easy. her attention shifted to the leader, and she smiled, relieved for some form of joke. or was that sarcasm? she wasn't sure, and decided to roll with the prior. she couldn't help but nod at his comment of being a loner feeling distant; she'd only been here a fraction of the time, and yet, it felt like forever.
she was hesitant, unsure of how this male knew the former healer. they looked similar; perhaps kin? she couldn't be sure, though. she didn't want to tell him a suspicion; she'd tell him what she knew for a fact.
"i'm not sure. he... he left after witnessing a death. he may be back, but i can't say for sure." she said, tossing a glance over her shoulder to see if someone of higher, more qualified, rank had appeared. "our leader may know more? would you like to see him?"
perhaps jaggedsight had spoken to nightstar. or, at the very least, someone had spoken to him.
her first patrol. she'd spend the past days doing her share of hunting, alone. she'd gotten a feel for the territory, for which moves to use. she'd traveled enough in her life that rose knew how to hunt most things in most environments. she was confident she could hunt with others without making herself look like an utter disaster.
though she'd been told it was a deputies duty to organize patrols, they didn't have a deputy just yet, and besides - one patrol wouldn't hurt. it ought to help, really, bring more food back.
"does anyone want to come on a hunting patrol?" she inquired, a smile on her face. hopefully, it'd go well.
hey guys!! so my dad had a brain aneurysm and he's got to go to surgery and everything, and since i'm his only family, i've pretty much got to go and sit with him and be there if anything goes wrong
if everything goes right, he should be all set by this weekend? but idk 100%
i won't be able to get on much while i'm at the hospital with him, and when i do, it'll be mobile so posts will be short. i'll try to get on as much as possible, but it'll be a lot of babysitting him so idk
i've still got like an hour or two before my step father takes me there, but after that, expect slow replies <3
thanks mate ^^
it's the third time it's happened, so *hopefully* everything will go fine like before and i can get back here, ha ha
there was more than fear in her eyes; there was concern. rose was a lover, not a fighter - violence only belonged in the worst of circumstances. she could see the hesitance in her eyes, and it instilled it within her own.
but this was nightstar, and she'd follow him to the ends of the earth if that's what it took. so, she trailed over, tail low and eyes heavy.
The felines eyes shifted to her clan mates, surprised to see them close in on her. She'd come to shadow clan because she didn't want to be alone - clearly, that'd never happen, and she was thankful for it.
"I'll be alright. Every warrior bleeds a little." She chose to assure her daughter first, choosing not to scold her about sneaking out. Someone would; besides, she thought that rule was a tad silly. She could defend herself at Featherkits age just fine.
Eyes shifting to Linchen, she couldn't help an amused smile. She'd nearly died, with that sort of advice in her head after the fox. She didn't need to get anything infected again.
She glanced at Mustangheart next, giving the fem a thankful smile, both for the offer and reassuring her daughter, offering her paw out.
As he explained their alliances, interest was clear on the felines features. She didn't know much about these sorts of things, what the rules behind them were. Loners had friends, not allies. You had people you could share food with in hard times, people you'd back up in a fight - but Rose had never had an ally.
He expressed his unsurity about the alliance with Bloodclan, and she could understand it. They were a strong group, but her limited knowledge of them was that they weren't like other clans. They had few rules, few limitations. She couldn't imagine fighting alongside those people - but against them seemed almost worse.
Rose had been considering this when he spoke again. The proposition set forth a twinge of curiosity, and mossy eyes softened. "Of course. Anything."
