she was never an apprentice. she was born a loner, young and hungry for the world. taught to fight and feed herself before most kittens were weaned; before her fourth moon, she was released into the world on her own, told that life is beautiful and she ought to appreciate every moment of it.

then, so many moons later, she'd stumbled up to the border, half dead and nearly bleeding out from a fight with a fox, to stubborn to actually fight the vixen. found by her now leader and senior warrior, just a deputy and an apprentice. they'd saved her, and she'd given her life to the clan, she embodied the spirit of shadowclan, loving every member with a fierce loyalty. even when linchen spoke against her at her promotion, when riddle cursed nightstar, she still loved them. hated their words, but loved them, because they were shadowclan. they were her people. not her subjects, she hardly ever acted like an authoritative figure, but her friends, her family.

for a time, she'd been so damn depressed. after she miscarried her and nightstar's children, she'd nearly lost the will to live. she'd done her duties because it was all she had left. but after a long night of crying, after what she could only describe as a holy experience, the non believer started to think she could believe. it was better, believing her children were in the starts rather than the dirt.

and she returned, witht hat warm smile and that tender touch, the easier of her and nightstar. she was the one who let the little things, like kittens sneaking out of camp, slide. she was the one who preferred to listen, who rarely gave orders, and only did so when there was damn good reason. she was a sweet as her name implied, despite losing her biological children to death and her adoptive daughter to bloodclan.

she kept going, and she kept smiling, because she loved shadowclan and the shadowclanners, even if she'd never been a kitten or apprentice here.

she'd been cleaning herself, smoothing down that so-dark-it-resembled-blood fur, when she noticed warpaw, in all his excitement. smiling, the deputy would rise, exceptionally long legs holding her higher than most, making her one of the tallest in the clan, and carrying her towards the boy with that friendly grin.

"enjoying being a -paw?" she inquired with a laugh, wondering what it must feel like.

sweetrose always wondered what it was like, to have loving, over bearing, protective parents. the sort who watched over your shoulder and breathed down your next and pressured you to be something great.

    she'd never had that.

her parents had children like rabbits, and she was one of nearly two dozen. they'd taught her to live, then tossed her off into the world. she could have died, and they wouldn't have cared. they weren't loving or affectionate - they never bothered to look after their spawn. if she didn't catch her food, she didn't eat at night. it made her stronger, not having a safety net, not being doted on - but she still wished they'd have been bothered.

"well, a word from the wise - enjoy it." she told the tom with a light laugh, shaking her head. "getting old sucks, trust me."

i love all the adult cartoons tbh

my parents were super chill about what i watched so while other kids were pokemon fanatics

i was watching family guy, making dick jokes lmao

rick and morty, family guy, american dad, bobs burgers, futurama, the cleveland show, i loved them all

never too big on the simpsons though because i have an unexplicable resentment towards lisa

sweetrose understood her mate's pain. she felt it herself. she knew she'd never be leader - knew she could never live without nightstar by her side. and still, she felt the pressure that a deputy felt, to help their leader lead, without the responsibilites of leadership.

she'd have to prod his mind soon, as she always did. try to relieve some of that stress, share the weight.

hearing his call for a patrol, the deputy pushed herself to her paws and followed obligingly. "where to?" she inquired, obviously joining.

hey there! could i please have the genetics for a black shorthair with blue eyes and a ginger longhair with green eyes?

not sure if the ginger has white or not, would you mind including if she does/doesn't?

if only featherpaw had the dedication to shadowclan that warpaw had.

often, the deputy thought about her daughter. about the cruel words she'd said before she left, still burning her heart, weeks later. featherpaw was angry they'd never told her she was the daughter of nightstar and that traitor. they'd let her believe that she was only adopted by nightstar, adopted by her. she didn't understand that they were only trying to protect her. that, blood be damned, featherpaw was her daughter. she'd raised her from kithood, coddled her and soothed her and loved her.

but featherpaw didn't see that. she left to be with that monster, and it tore away at her. no many how many children she and nightstar had, no matter how many times she miscarried, featherpaw would always be her first, her baby, and she'd lost her.

the deputy was tired of crying about it, though. she and her mate had lost so many nights sleep in the leaders den, missing their little girl, who'd slept in their nest right up until her apprenticeship - and then she was gone. featherpaw had left them, and though sweetrose didn't believe in much of a starclan, she still prayed in case there was one. prayed they'd bring her back one day, her innocence not too marred.

staring down at her mouse, not really hungry, the deputy spotted her apprentice across camp and pushed herself to her paws. exceptionally tall, long legged, sweetrose was the picture of grace as she moved, swift and silent, a warm, gentle smile lighting her features when she regarded warpaw.

"thinking?" she inquired, a brow quirked as she studied the tom, in the way a mother would look down at someone else's child.

sweetrose smiled at the tom's words, barking out a small laugh and sitting down beside him. her tail, long and dark and thickly furred, coiled around her paws like a snake, protecting them from low breezes and dust.

"i hope not a medicine cat?" she purred, a small, playful twinkle in the corner of her eye. rarely, did the deputy scold others. encourage, joke, but hardly ever scold. the only time she really acted like much of a deputy was when bloodclan was involved. the fem was a pacifist, through and through, but not with the city clan. she'd do some awful things to them, if given the slightest opportunity.

it started with a fox and a rabbit.

rose was a loner, back then, out hunting when she encountered a vixen. rather than fight and harm a mother of cubs, rose chose to flee - getting severely wounded in the process. she'd find her way to the shadowclan border, near death, and right into the arms of the new deputy, nightbird. they were friends, first. late night walks and light jokes, they found refuge in the company of one another. it wasn't long until they were best friends, inseparable. feelings begun to bloom, but both parties concealed them, not wanting to ruin a good friendship.

nightbird was dealing with the aftermath of his former mate being a traitor, resented by much of the clan, when he found himself put into leadership after flaxenstar's tragic suicide. returning from his nine lives ceremony, he brought a girl, his biological child whom he claimed to have no ties with beyond adoption. he was featherkit's father, and rose became her mother - though, they stayed just friends.

rose was made sweetrose, made his deputy. she'd been nightstars confidant for long enough, and now, it was her job. it didn't take long for confessions, and they claimed one another publicly as mates. sweetrose found herself pregnant not long after. however, she miscarried, leaving the young couple heartbroken. their daughter was made an apprentice and learned the truth of her lineage, running away from shadowclan in a fury, her parents left having lost all of their children, if not by death than by anger.

nightstar found himself tied up in his duties, in alliances, and sweetrose found herself tied up in something else entirely - another pregnancy. this one, she couldn't bare to lose.

    - please keep these children alive and active! if you lose muse, or fail to sustain activity, QUINN. and dalisay reserve the right to rehome them.

    - please keep them in shadowclan until nine months of age, unless there is a plot! we're always open to fun and creative things!

    - these children are very important to rose and night. they'll be adored by not only the pair, but by all of their friends in shadowclan. as such, however they turn out as adults should not be caused by their childhood.

    - that said, get creative! we don't need a hundred of the same sort of cat, and diversity is always very much fun!

    - form is free for all, but we're looking for deep characters and quality applications! show us you're excited!

    - the current tentative choosing date is october tenth. this will likely change.

rose is the adoptive mother of nightstar's biological daughter, featherpaw [bc]. they have parented three unnamed kittens, who were miscarried and born still.

names are free for all - however, the following names / variants will be brownie points for in character sentiment: citrus prefix (to honor citrinesun - ), any horse prefix (to honor mustangheart ), variants of green prefix (to honor Jadefeather12 ), variants of sky prefix (to honor nightstar's deceased sister).

characters will start off at three months old, aging will be determined at a later point among those selected.
