briarpaw - 7 moons - apprentice of trad. thunderclan - longhaired seal mink-tonkinese with a singular white paw and aqua eyes
although the brown she-cat had only been apprenticed for a moon, she was dreaming of the day when she would receive her warrior name. briarpaw had always wondered what name would be picked for her. would she be a briarheart, or a briarfur? or perhaps a briartail? though she was a patient cat, the newly-apprenticed feline couldn't help but fantasize. it was such an exciting thing to think about, though, she knew she would have to work hard for that goal. briarpaw would have to work her tail off, even, as she was not the best hunter, and she hated confrontation with a burning passion.
at the call of a meeting, briar's aqua optics widened with anticipation. first, she would flatten her shoulder and chest fur with a few licks before pushing herself out of the apprentices' den and taking her place beneath the clan rock. she wondered what this was about, head slightly cocked and tail swishing prom side to side behind her. could this be an apprentice ceremony, or just an important announcement? this could also be a warrior ceremony, certainly not hers, though. maybe it was time for one of her denmates to graduate to warrior status. that's exciting! briarpaw thought, snapping out of her thoughtful trance and gazing up at cinderstar as the leader began to speak.
ooh, yay for nightpaw! the apprentice searched the crowd for the black tom, a congratulating purr rumbling in her throat. unable to find him, and deciding she would wait until he stepped forward, briarpaw would sit still, tail wrapped around her paws, pondering what nightpaw's warrior name could be.

it seemed that wandering around in shadowclan's territory had landed the apprentice in a awkward situation. she had only meant to practice her not-so-good hunting skills, which she should have probably done with her mentor, but they were busy right now, so she wasn't about to beg them to go out with her when she could easily sneak out on her own. well, woopsie daisy, she now found herself in the presence of jaggedsight, cinderstar, and flaxenmask, plus an unfamiliar, seemingly scary cat. briar couldn't hide now, so she would have to deal with the consequences of her mischief later. it seemed that the other cats were preoccupied with something serious, so she wouldn't intervene. the brown she-cat sat down gingerly a few fox lengths behind her clanmates and observed the conversation; though she probably should have gone home, her curiosity got the best of her.

as harsh sunlight filtered through the gaps in the apprentices' den, and the waving of the leaves in the trees echoed throughout the forest, the tonkinese had been awoken by pangs of hunger in her stomach. it had been days since she'd eaten anything supple, and one day since she'd eaten anything at all. briarpaw had woken up late, as the sun had risen, and she could hear some of her clanmates sharing tongues out in camp. she pushed herself through the brambles, aqua eyes squinting as the greenleaf sun struck them with blinding light. already, the apprentice had started to lightly pant, which was strange, as her fur was of short length. she observed that the elders, queens, and kits had been fed, despite their scrawny appearance due to the lack of prey as of late. the rest of the clan seemed to be grimly grooming each other and gossiping under any shade they could find.
briarpaw would pad over to where freshkill pile would be, hoping to find at least a little morsel that she could share with a friend, but to no avail. of course, she should expect this; even though the weaker cats of the clan had been fed the most, they were still quite skinny. with hunched shoulders, the seal felid took a seat in the seclusion of a small patch of shade in a corner of camp, grooming herself and waiting for any duties she may have to carry out for the day. briar had a feeling it wouldn't be anything too exciting; she wasn't very talented.

briarpaw's aqua orbs drifted up from the shoulder that she had been licking as nightbird arrived. this ebony tom was the new warrior, as she had remembered the most recent meeting. ears pinned back with embarrassment as her stomach grumbled, the apprentice shifted her weight. ' i don't believe we've met before. i'm nightpa-bird.' briar give nightbird a small, soft smile at his mistake, suppressing a mrrow of laughter. she didn't want to embarrass him. the tonkinese molly then would answer in a quiet tone, "nice to meet you. i'm briarpaw, by the way. congrats on becoming a warrior!" after she spoke, the apprentice gave her chest fur a lick, then looked back up at nightbird, patiently awaiting a response.

briar was happy for nightbird, despite not knowing him too well. it was great to see shadowclan gaining warriors, even through the rough time all the clans were having. "nightbird, nightbird!" the tonkinese molly cheered.

maybe silentpaw & briarpaw could be friends? even though briarpaw is in shadowclan, they could have a sneaky friendship and meet up in the tunnels under the thunderpath? briar could teach silentpaw some lip-reading, as she likes helping others and wouldn't mind silent's deafness. this could also grow into a bigger plot, as they are in enemy clans, but we'll have to wait and see >:3

maybe briar and eren could have a run-in, and they could fight? of course, eren would probably beat her up, which i'm okay with lol. it'd be a good way to teach her not to wander, as she does that a lot xD

even though briarpaw wasn't very skilled at hunting, and faced humiliation if she didn't bring anything back for the clan, the tonkinese had to have an excuse to get out of camp. she was getting annoyed with the heat, and would constantly have to fight for shade, when there was some, of course. every morning she woke up late and panting, late because she had no mentor at the moment, and panting because of the sweltering heat. at least she didn't have long, dark fur. the molly couldn't imagine what that felt like.
with her decision made, briar padded up to flaxenmask and lichen, mewing in a quiet tone, "i'll join, if you don't mind."
