The prince could never run away from his past. Not ever, and clearly not now. The tragedies he had been through and the tragedies he had caused all followed him and met up with him at some point. First, an accidental death that he had somehow caused -- but had not been there for, mind you -- that came to haunt him months later when he attempted to join the sanctuary. The death of fairylights had been a horrible accident, and yet he got yelled and screamed at by soap -- fairylights's supposed significant other -- when he first arrived and then was accused of straight up murder (which, by the way, was incorrect). That had been...a mess, to put it simply. But even further, there was another thing with his secret dual alliance with the exiles and the sanguine ruins for the longest of times, and someone -- namely Dimitri -- finding out about that and threatening to blurt it to the world. But it wasn't just those things, no...there were small details, small mistakes, that lead to ironic and troubling situations for him. He was supposed to be the bringer of bad karma...and yet, bad karma followed him.
His whole deal with the Valhalla was...confusing. He had arrived because there wasn't much else to do, but it seemed soon enough that he had found some sort of home, though not really, among them. He didn't have many friends there. Mija...she changed quite dramatically when she decided that she wanted to just take over the position. And Michael...the two had their differences -- big differences -- but they managed to get along for their short time of leadership. But other than that, he couldn't say he held true connections. No, he didn't miss anyone there. And maybe that was why he had left so easily? Quite possibly -- Koday didn't abandon things easily. But Valhalla...for it to have been a true home? Not really. How he had even become leader there for a short while he didn't know...but that was part of the past. Or...so he thought. It seemed that even his past alliances were going to be a stick up his ass now.
As the figure of a very angry feline came storming towards him, an eyebrow quirked and then narrowed as he tried to figure out what the hell was making her so pissy. He had never seen her before in his life, he knew that...so what was her deal? Giving a small inside groan, a concentrated frown came upon his face as he looked upon her, studying her rather...distasteful features. Seriously, what had he done now? he'd kept his ass out of trouble for how long, and this was happening? With a huff, he was about to ask her 'what is your problem' when suddenly, she spoke up upon articulated, fierce words. Ties with an enemy...? What the hell was she talk--
Realization hit. And, if Koday could have rolled his eyes into another dimension, he would have.
You've got to be fucking kidding me, Koday grumbled in his thoughts, I can't live anywhere in peace.
Told you. Koday's father chided in thought.
In these times, Koday wished his father had a physical form that he could punch. Instead, he dug charcoal colored claws into the earth beneath him. Bitch-ass.
The look of annoyance, at first, was clear from the eye roll and the way his jaw clenched. However, Koday knew better than to let his temper get the best of him, especially in a situation like this. So, taking in a sharp inhale, the direwolf forced the fakest-ass smile onto his face that he could have possibly managed and kept himself level-headed and ready to deal with the situation. "Should it matter? My previous alliances don't have anything to do with me now." Koday countered a little challengingly, putting emphasis on previous for obvious reasons; though he made sure that he held back the bite his defenses usually had with them. He wasn't here to start a fight...but it seemed that he was going to start off yet another joining with defending his case. Why did this keep on happening? Damn it was annoying.
As the feisty little feline spoke again, the direwolf's ears flicked back and he gave a sigh. So much for the welcoming atmosphere he was oh-so-used to here...but he guessed he'd have to deal with it. But trust? Please. Trust -- full trust -- should rarely be given to anyone. But in the case of having some faith for the better good...didn't she have any of that? Giving another small roll of his eyes, the canine spoke once more, golden gaze focusing carefully onto the angry female. "I don't know, but why wouldn't you? I left for a reason, now didn't I?" Koday retorted back, but managed his tone carefully -- making sure not to get entirely too sassy and sarcastic. That would be saved for if this crazy paranoid woman would listen to him, or if anyone else got too far up into this business. Seriously, this was ridiculous...and while Koday didn't know this, the Valhalla weren't technically enemies with the Exiles...interesting.
Blinking his frustrations away, the large direwolf just simply shook his head and sat upon his haunches with an eyebrow quirked and quite uninterested in whatever counter-argument she tried to come up with. "Either way," Koday began, flicking his front paw dismissively to their previous conversation, "I'm not coming here to pretend to be someone I'm not. One, I'm a horrible actor. And Two, It'd be a waste of my time, and yours too, hmm?" the direwolf gave a small hum, his gaze flicking away for a second before focusing on the other quite intently, "Plus, I hate snakes. Both the actual creatures, and the personalities," The memories of Dimitri stabbing Jackdaw in the back -- literally, with a knife -- when he was just a child flashed across his mind briefly. That was all he had to witness to decide from the very beginning that he would never deceive someone in such a way, with such intentions. With a sigh, he'd look back upon the femme, "There. That's my case, chief, so what's your verdict?" the direwolf left the statement-slash-question open for her to finally answer whether or not she'd let him pass through and get settled here. Take it or leave it, confirmed or denied, whatever it was, he would wait for the answer and go from there. If they decided to decline him...well, it was their loss, not his.
