Alexus happened to take risks quite often. It's not that she meant to, it's just that she simply forgot to think the situation through before doing it. She was rather impulsive. 'What could go wrong' was not a statement that entered her train of thought, well, ever. Fortunately, she hadn't yet gotten hurt from her adventures, but until she got injured, she would continue to make reckless decisions on the spot when it came to trying something new.
The serval had been extremely bored one day and decided to go to Shimmer Lake, one of her favorite places in BlizzardClan. It was a beautiful place, and the soft waves caused by the looming waterfall were calming after a hectic day.
She padded across the beach, humming a cheerful tune to herself as she went. Her paws sunk lightly into the damp sand as she slowly walked, letting the cool, refreshing water wash over her feet. The girl soon came to halt and looked up, admiring the waterfall. It was a beautiful sight, really, one that she had previously lacked to appreciate. The first thing that came to mind after studying the waterfall was how fun it would be to jump off of the top of it. What a great idea! Alexus told herself as she made her way around the lake to the top of the cliff.
Upon reaching the top of the waterfall, the serval hesitated for the first time in a while. She carefully dug her claws into the ground as she peered over the edge, the falling water crashing in an explosion of bubbles and waves at the bottom of the falls. Without a second thought, the golden serval inhaled through her nose, exhaled through her mouth, and launched herself off of the top of the cliff with a slight running start.
Falling through the air was a sensation unlike she had ever felt before. Time seemed to go by at a turtle's pace, the wind slicing through her pelt in slow motion. Panic was nowhere to be found in her mind or body. There seemed to be nothing bad in the world as she rapidly fell toward the water. Complete bliss overtook her form and she closed her eyes toward the middle of the experience.
However, the girl was instantly snapped out of her trance as she came closer to the surface of the lake. Her eyes flew open and she attempted to maneuver her body so that she would hit the lake back feet first in some sort of backwards dive to minimize the pain she would feel upon coming in contact with the water itself.
For the most part, Alexus was successful as her form slipped into the cool water of Shimmer Lake. There was a slight amount of stinging as she slapped against the pool of liquid, as there would be when entering the water from a high point in the air. However, the pain wasn't very noticeable through the pure adrenaline that coursed through the girl's veins as she made her way back to shore.
Alexus dragged her body onto the beach, a light giggle escaping her jaws. She knew that she probably wouldn't be doing that again any time soon, but at least she wasn't bored anymore.
