TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — Wrenbreeze lowered his head to stare down at the kit as he trotted up. He was obviously a bit distraught; what was he supposed to say to him? He didn't want to diminish his hope and the bright energy around him, but he wasn't sure what else to say than the truth. He wasn't very good at lying, despite his slightly sour attitude, he was an honest person.
"Oh, uh...they're just...sleeping," you couldn't say he didn't at least try. "They'll wake up soon, promise," he said with a matter-of-fact nod. Inside, he was praying Ivykit would just accept it as fact.

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — He didn't personally blame Mistpaw. It was none's fault that he ended up with another apprentice to train, and Larchfang wasn't really around enough to help out. That left him with the apprentice's training in his paws. He was uneasy with Adderpaw alone, and having another one to mentor only added fuel to his flame. Not to mention that he was made deputy, all in the same meeting. His life felt chaotic and he felt lost in the tides.
Wrenbreeze was moping around camp, not very interested in hunting or keeping himself fit. Besides, he already had the physique of a skeleton. His stomach growled at the thought, but he refused to acknowledge it-others needed what little food they had more than him. Spotting Mistpaw near the medicine den, he approached to see what he was doing, leaning to see over his shoulder and smirking to himself. "And what are you doing?"

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — The tom's brows shot up, looking down from Mistpaw to survey the holes he had dug. A mischievous smirk twisted his face, turning back to the apprentice with a glint in his eyes, remnants of his old self shining through. He didn't see a reason not to prank Rainwatcher, or any other unfortunate Riverclanner, for that matter. They needed it in these dire times. Among the tension hanging in the air, he felt a spark inside him. It was familiar and welcomed, his smile bursting out into a white-teeth grin. "Well, if we're gonna prank our clan-mates, we'll need a deeper hole,"
wait what
what you mean crackship
rain x wren is totally a thing man

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — His focus on the water was broken by a sudden voice ringing out to him. Underneath his breath, he cursed, lifting his gaze from the slow tides that were more intimidating to him than any other Riverclanner. He felt slightly unsettled, his eyes wandering off and giving the possibility that he might fall in if he weren't careful. But, over the moons he had spent in the territory, he had come to know it quite well. Surely his knowledge wouldn't be wasted by tripping over himself and tumbling into the stream.
Though he wasn't a bit surprised to see Rainwatcher there, herbs held between his teeth. He took a deep breath, filling his lungs before forcing a grin onto his face, as smug as ever. His shoulders gave a shrug and he glanced down at the water. "What, can't a guy appreciate his clan's pride and joy?" he challenged, tail swaying behind him. He sauntered forward, studying the other's face for a moment, then turning and padding back into camp.
"So, ah...Rainwatcher, how is Mistpaw?" Wrenbreeze asked while ducking into the clearing, turning back with a serious expression, a sudden change from his attitude. He was worried about the kid, and was hoping he'd turn out alright. Besides, they had a good medicine cat and apprentices, he was in good paws. But he couldn't help but wonder what the extent of this poison was.
lmao
everyone just ships them behind their backs
late ofc but
sometimes i get that way with wren, rinnie, so no need to feel bad c:
i have a bad habit of taking things personally sometimes heh
for this reason i've always been a bit hesitant about making rude/annoying characters?? but i think wren has been a big success so
i just remind myself of the fun i have while roleplaying him and i usually get over it <3

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — He could blatantly understand his concern. With even more siblings of his own, he felt almost disorganized with his nagging worry for them. He outwardly acted like a jerk to them, but he loved them a whole lot. He was even a bit over-protective of them, especially after their parents' absences. Even though he wasn't exactly the oldest of them, he still felt responsible for them, mostly the younger of the group. It hurt him inside to know he had failed with Rookpaw thus far.
Wrenbreeze pushed back the abrupt thought and listened to what news Rainwatcher had to share about Mistpaw. His face deepened at the tom's slight ramblings, his feelings seeming to spill out. At first he opened his mouth to interrupt, but thought better of it, deciding he probably needed a bit of venting. All of Riverclan were going through rough times right now. With a sense of dread hanging heavy over their heads, unloading some of the negative emotions was probably the best option.
Naturally, as he had predicted, the tom followed after his steps into the den and took a seat at the entrance, momentraily distracted by the storage of herbs. The musky scent of plants and sickness stuck in the air, his nose scrunching up. He wasn't used to being in the medicine den, he hadn't needed a visit since he was roughly apprentice age. He didn't really bother with remembering the incidents and what not that had given him a reason to stop by.
"And he'll stay fine," he assured once it seemed the medicine apprentice was finished. He didn't really have a knack for comforting others, a bit too stiff in that department, but he didn't just want to stay silent, either. "You, Rookpaw, and Aspenberry are all very skilled at what you do. I have no doubts he'll be better soon, just give it time. Maybe once the poison has passed, everything will get better,"

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — His muscles tensed at the kit's sharp baby teeth bit into his paw, but he allowed it to slide. He simply sighed in defeat, turning back towards the she-cat. As others approached, they seemed to twist her simple words into an insult. Sure, he didn't particularly like outsiders, but it wasn't like he made out all of their words to be offensive. Besides, from what he could tell, Desertkit was no cripple. Casting a slightly puzzled look their way, he focused again on Ashe, eyes hardening. Even so, she had a sharp tongue either way, and he wasn't quite a fan of it.
"I personally don't think it's wise to insult the people who could easily rid you of their paws," he pointed out, serious in the way he spoke. Meanwhile, he flicked the paw the kit had busied herself with biting, trying to free himself of the small snare.

"Well, he's kind of a stick in the mud. I'll tease him a bit from time to time, but we don't squabble nearly as much as me and Magpiepaw. Still, even if we fight now and then, I deeply care for him. I even consider him a friend, even though I obviously get on his nerves. I'm not the bravest in the world, I know that, but I would protect him if it ever came down to it,"

"It's really entertaining how fired up he gets. That's mostly why I pick on the kid, because he has such a fire. Yeah, he's super annoying, but he's a good kid. He just has his morals in the wrong place. Like Rookpaw-and all my siblings-I care a lot for him. I'd protect him with my life, if I had to,"

"I mean, I care a lot for her, but she really gets on my nerves. She's like an older, more responsible version of Magpiepaw, always getting on my tail. Even so, I would definitely protect her if I ever needed to,"

"I really like Rainwatcher. He's super smart, and I respect him, even though I don't show it very well. Even so, I don't know him very well, and I would like to. I'm very curious about what's he's like when he isn't annoyed or angry at me. But he can be really annoying himself. Sometimes we'll just bicker with one another, but I'm not really bothered with it anymore-I'm kind of used to being yelled at or having people be mad with me,"
mistpaw, ♥
"Meh, I don't know him that well. But I guess I should, given he's my apprentice. For now, I'm neutral about him,"
cougarstar, ♥ ♥ ♥
"I really do respect Cougarstar a lot. I mean, who doesn't? She's the ideal leader-smart, strong, and confident in her decisions. She's the person I want to be. Like any of my clan-mates probably would, I would protect her with my life, even though she probably will never need protecting,"
owldapple, ♥ ♥
"Owldapple? I don't know much about him. All I know is that he's Cougarstar's mate, and if he can earn her respect like that, then I guess I respect him, too,"

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — He, admittedly, wasn't used to other people being into jokes or pranks like he was. It seemed everyone was so caught up on surviving that they didn't leave any time for fun or joking around. Sure, times like now were tough, but it didn't give an excuse to wallow in self-pity. Now, it felt odd, to be accepted like this, but it also made him glow with warmth. It felt good. "Just enough to make sure someone falls in. Maybe two or three, for good measure. Make sure to make them big, and cover them up good," it felt like he was teaching Mistpaw like a real mentor should, just not what most would regularly teach.

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — His face lit up at the mention of his brother. He was so proud of him, like he was of his other brothers and sisters. He had been elated when Rookpaw was made medicine apprentice. "Yeah, he's just fine. Not sleeping well, really, but otherwise I think he's well," he replied with a wandering gaze. He was a bit sad, reminded of his inability to protect him. He'd wandered off and disappeared when he was only a kit, and Wrenbreeze-Wrenpaw at the time-couldn't find him. Then he had come bearing wounds and injuries. He didn't allow the solemn feeling to show on his face, not wanting to worry Rainwatcher, but he did feel it deep down.
At the mention of bickering, he only shrugged his shoulders with an unapologetic grin-truth be told, they didn't argue nearly as much as he and Magpiepaw did. He was usually the one to settle the peace between their squabbles. "Brothers will be brothers, I suppose," he didn't say 'siblings' purely out of respect of his sister Larchfang, who was about the only one he really got along with out of his family.
