The scent of water permeated the air thickly and that was partly the reason he was out here now. He was dehydrated and that fact didn't escape the doberman. He knew that he needed to get water into him as quickly as possible but he as knew that he couldn't be so desperate as to gorge himself on salt water either. So he was hoping that the water's scent that he was follow was fresh water. His paws pressed heavily against the grass as he made his way through the forest, eyes searching the thick trunks of trees for a possible meal but he wasn't really sure how he was going to achieve even hunting. Usually his human had provided him with food and that was all it took. No running, planning, killing, just a rustle of a bag and the dinging of dried food in various shapes summoning him to pig out. A bit of himself grimaced at the way that he put it but still that had been his life and he liked it. He'd trained with his human in various modes of combat and he understood the ends and outs of it but now he was alone and he didn't understand what had happened or rather he couldn't remember what it was that had happened. An ache pounded at the back of his head and he grunted lowly before shaking his cranium just a little bit. It would be fine and he'd find his human, surely he couldn't have gone very far. He breathed out a soft breath before he continued forward with his marbled black and white collar brushing against his throat. Cropped pierced ears pulled forward as he neared the sounds of rushing water and breaking the line of trees his eyes widened with a kind of joy before he moved forward to begin lapping at the cool liquid. Though it was tinged lightly with salt, he knew it wouldn't do much in the way of hurting him and just kept drinking.

He sensed something was watching him but until they made themselves known he wasn't about to take his attention from the water he was gulping down. His muzzle was drenched to say the least but at least he wasn't thirsty anymore. His salmon colored tongue swiped along his muzzle just as the beating of wings filled the silent air and a screech was called out. Jerking his head up the doberman's ears became alert and his stance rigid as he noticed the dark shadow moving across the ground. A bird. Cyan eyes followed the shadow for a short moment before one of his ears pulled back and he breathed out a soft breath of exasperation. He was just worn but he could deal with interaction for the moment. A good soldier knew how to hold himself right and he straightened himself just as the harpy landed before him. A large bird of black feathers. Reminded him of a raven more or less except a raven didn't have such exaggerated plumage. His paws stepped back lightly to give him a bit of room from the stranger as she looked at him with curious brown orbs. Her eyes were pretty, at least that was what he thought before she began to talk. Offering him food which he had to decline of course. "No thank you. I can find my own once I've rested up and...figured out what is going on." Truthfully he wanted to be self sufficient and not rely on anyone else that was currently in this place which come to think of it gave him pause to look across the river of the peninsula and stare at the little island. His nose twitched and it was awashed with the scents of many other animals. Damn, how had he not noticed that before.

Maybe it was the desperate bide for water that had distracted him from the telling signs that this place belong to someone else. A many someone else he might add and that thought brought him little comfort admittedly. Now both ears were pulled back as he shifted his gaze back to the giant bird before he listened to her introduce herself and asked him his business with Riverclan? What the hell was a Riverclan? He tilted his head in his confusion before hte soldier shook his head a bit. "Uh, what's Riverclan? I don't know what that is but I'm Desmond. Desmond Verbane."

Another joined the bird of prey and he could tell that it was another canine but this one didn't seem like the canines he was used to. No, he was more wild, untamed and unchecked. He didn't know how he felt about that but still, as long as they were not trying to harm him there shouldn't be a problem. He tilted his head at the odd sounding name that was thrown his way from the black dog and he slowly pulled his ears forward in acknowledgement of the given name. Alright, so he was Arcanepaw. Even thinking it was weird but he kept that to himself as he dipped his head to the..leader. He was a bit young ot be a leader right? Or was this some type of...hierarchy type thing. "Nice to meet you." He spoke with a lighter tone, though his stance didn't relax an inch. He was allowed to join but join what? They had not told him what it was that he had come upon. But soon that was changed when a horse of all things came up to him. That was such a strange sight for the doberman to see that his muzzle curled in shock and a low growl left his throat. Why was a horse even here of all places? He didn't have time for the male was speaking to him and he gave a light nod of his head as he half heartedly told him what Riverclan was. Didn't seem all that bad he supposed and he gave a low dip of his cranium. "Alright, I'll stay for a bit." But only til he had found his human.

"Well, technically a nurse can be of any age. Although a child's mind is sometimes easier to teach." But that was his own opinion really. He didn't know how this gang function and if they kept time schedules, or did drills. He was a bit at a loss really so he went where the crowds gathered so to speak. The soldier moved forward with stiff strides and his ears pulled forward just a bit. He didn't know what their terms for nurses were but where he came from they were healers. So maybe hey were the same here. He stepped into the den with a light step though he remained standing as opposed to actually sitting down. He watched the wild looking dog for a moment before he gave a half sigh and slowly sank to his haunches. This place was strange. "I'll participate."

"Leader of what?" Who just came forward and spouted out that they were leader but didn't mention of what or where? It confused him and he pulled his ears back a bit before he breathed out a harsh sigh. He wasn't trying to be rude but he was just slightly irritated at the whole issue with being in a different place and not understanding anything currently. He didn't know what this place really was since it wasn't truly explained to him and he didn't know how things worked which also irked him greatly. Shaking his head a bit he tried to go easy, pulling his muzzle back in a strange attempted at a smile before the doberman sat down and shook himself slightly. "I don't know a Frisk. But my name is Desmond. What's that basket for?"

He had no words for what he was hearing or seeing at the moment. None. The doberman just looked on with a faintly disgusted look on his muzzle. If this place functioned like this on the regular he was sure they were headed for trouble's doorstep. It was sad to the soldier but there was little in the way that he could do about and frankly he didn't want to. He wasn't here to make friends anyway and his stay was labeled with a time stamp. He was here to rest up, learn, and then leave off to find his human and that was that. He swallowed lightly to feel the collar against his throat before he made his way over, form poised as he stepped around the band of animals, taking a bit of a point position. "I'll join."

Well, she was quick to the whip it seemed and she was joining this place too. Odd. He hadn't even known what this place was but he had decided to stay on the grounds of getting his strength back and working for them until he could move on in search for his human. That being said he was also learning shit that didn't make sense to him and it was puzzling. But the solider remained firm as he figured he would adjust to what was going on around him. Especially the act that they were on a small clump of land that was cut off from the main by a river. It was a defensive flaw to have one's back to the ocean in his opinion but he straightened himself out as he walked over, cyan colored eyes flicking over the wild canine with a hint of apprehension. He was not sued to these kinds of canines and they made him a bit wary but all the same he greeted her as a soldier should. "Welcome. The name's Desmond."

Knights of Eden? What was that and for the matter who were they? His muzzle scrunched up in confusion before the military dog shifted and sat back on his haunches. This place was so weird and he didn't want to think about everything that was going on at the currently moment. Frankly he wanted to go lay down somewhere and take a long ass nap, get his strength back up and then deal with all of this. But he released a breath and gave a nod as if he knew what that place was that she was talking about. At the mention that the gifts were for Riverclan after the small stumble of them being for him happened he looked back to the basket and the flower crowns and the prey that was in the container. His jaws parted as he swiped a salmon colored tongug along his muzzle, but he didn't take anything. No, he would find his own food no matter how hungry he was. "Uh, yeah thanks. I'm sure the folks here will definitely appreciate it. Especially from a figure that's so high up on the ladder of society." He spoke out but he soon turned his cyan gaze toward the horse he had seen other. Rude? How was he being rude in asking what she was talking about? He scoffed a bit before looking away from the horse. "Whatever you say, beast of burden." Yeah, he was in a bad mood but he was trying. That was all he could do in his current situation, especially with most of what he knew was no longer in existence.

He had been resting, head buried between his paws and jaws slightly parted to release gently snores. To some that were near by they might think it was annoying but he was tired. Dead tired and ever since he had washed up from the salty waters he had been struggling to understand what had happened to him. Finding the river had been a miracle for the doberman and now that he was among other creatures he was taking a much deserved nap. Hell, even some drool was coming out of his parted jaws. But at the sudden sharp call his head jerked up in the middle of a snore and he gagged as sand shot up his nose. Coughing he spat a little before dragging a paw across his muzzle and shaking his head, blinking blurry eyes before he looked for the one that had jolted him out of his nap. It was a good one too and his jaws parted in a large yawn before he forced himself to get up. Shaking his whole body the soldier pushed himself forward as he looked at the female with half open eyes. "Clean what now? I didn't know there were dens around here."

Whatever this was it was definitely not something he wanted to get caught up with. Sure, he may be able to help in some small insignificant way but he didn't know who any of these animals were. Granted he knew one face but the rest were just...there to him. The doberman stood behind the group that were confronting the snow leopard, eyes of cyan flicking across the ground before he breathed out a gentle sigh. The tensions were high but he didn't say anything. There was nothing for the dog to say considering he didn't even know what was going on. So the male kept silent, body slightly tense as he prepped himself for some type of confrontation if it came or not.

When the caracal came to shove him out of the way he didn't budge but a warning growl did leave the throat of the military dog. He didn't appreciate someone coming to move in him in hostility and though he usually talked first to settle things he had already seen the behavior of this snot nosed punk which meant words were not something that would stop her behavior. But if she wanted to try him she could. When the outfit began to move forward so did he as they left the cavern and out into the bright sun of palm trees. The sun was bright and he narrowed his cyan colored eyes before huffing gently against the slightly heated air. Frankly he wasn't the hunting type but he'd learn quick and pick up on different maneuvers. He trotted off along the sands a bit away from the hunting party, he felt more comfortable on his own anyway.

"Someone has a big ass ego. This session is for learning not for show boating." He spoke with a half mocking tone. Who cared if she knew what horsetail was. They were all here to learn and if she knew things already then she needed to keep her mouth shut so that someone else could have a chance at learning something for themselves. It was a training session after all. A low almost amused sound left his throat as he looked to the horsetail that Elixir had pulled forth and he studied it to lock it in his memory. Treat infection and stop bleeding. Was that true? He glanced at Arcanepaw before he decided to ask the doctor/leader himself. "Are there any more uses to horsetail besides the possible two that were already given?"

Truthfully he had no idea as to what he had seen only driven to the spot by some strange sounds and banter. Aggressive words did not make him relax and as he strode toward the place that they originated from he kept his guard up, cyan eyes flicking around the scene until his pierced ears picked up the sounds of scurrying paws and the overlapping sounds of the rushing water. He breathed out a soft breath of intrigue as he moved around one of the palm trees to head down to the river's edge when he spotted the jaguar with her head lowered down to the side of the rabbit's head. How odd. The military dog tilted his head slightly, gaze focused on the large predator. He'd only ever met one with his human and that one had been behind a fence. He told him of tales of the wild and how he had been saved by the humans because a fire had taken his home and he would have died if not for them. The tale itself had been interesting enough for the solider but now he was here with another one and he wasn't sure of what to do. Her actions afterward puzzled him but the rabbit had looked worse for wear and with the creature's death came food did it not? Shrugging his shoulders he moved closer to the river's edge and that's when she looked at him, her paws moving her closer to the river on her side. He tensed up slightly almost as if prepping himself until she spoke to him. Joining? What did she mean? Oh...oh wait. This was a gang thing and animals joined all the time. "What happened to that rabbit? And, I think you are allowed to join. My name's Desmond, Desmond Verbane."

Admittedly he didn't know what was going on. He didn't understand what mystery needed to be solved and the fact that someone was asking for help with one made him pause and look in that direction. A conflict arose and he didn't know if he wanted to help or not. Truthfully he knew that if someone needed help it was his sworn duty to provide that aid even if he didn't know what he was doing. Huffing softly the solider shook his head and turned to make his way over there, cropped ears pulled forward as he looked upon the two that were already here. "I'll give it a shot I suppose. Ya know with the mystery thing."

What were flowercrowns? Did they had a usable purpose or were they just for dressing up purposes? The military dog had never encountered them before so he was highly confused on what they were talking about. Slowly the male walked forward, eyes narrowed a bit as he looked up on the group that had already came forward to speak to the female that had called out. They were talking about the flower crowns and he tilted his head a bit before he shifted from one paw to another. He felt a bit awkward, not all there but he sat down on his haunches and looked at the rings of flowers. Were those the flowercrowns? His muzzle crunched up just slightly before he decided to just dismiss the little things in general. He didn't need one after all. "Hey, it's nice to meet you. Name's Desmond Verbane. I'm new here and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing most of the time." He didn't know what a meet and greet was but he assumed it was well, this.

The doberman came forward at the call of another creature calling out hello. He was a bit shocked when finally the animal in question came into view. He was tense and he stared at the horse with narrowed eyes. A horse. This was strange and he hadn't even expected to find himself confronting a horse. What was one of them doing all the way out here. The soldier took a rough breath before he made his way over, keeping himself poised as he lightly dipped his head in greeting. Alright, he had the routine down for meeting newer creatures at this border. He asked the question and they responded with something along the lines of joining this strange gang. It was called Riverclan but he wasn't really told what it was they did. Still he was here and when the canine was close enough he swallowed, feeling the brush of his collar against his neck. Things would be okay. "Well, you look worse for wear. So what do you need here, pal? I'm Desmond by the way."

Honestly he couldn't get the idea that animals seemed to come here for no other purpose than to join. It made little sense to the military dog and he was bemused slightly with the only subject in general. They just came, waited a bit or came over and then proclaimed to be joining this...clan thing. He sighed a bit at the oddity of it before he just shook his head and walked forward after watching the feline make his way across the shallow part of the river. Hopefully he wouldn't cause any issues though, as most of these joiners to this place seemed to have the right ideas in mind. Still, the soldier would always keep himself ready for anything that might go wrong. After all he was trained to be quick about such things. "Mmm, alright then. I mean, they seem to accept anyone so there is that. Name's Desmond and I'm new around here myself. Where did you come from?"

It wasn't every day that someone was just walking along and stumbled upon a glittering piece of paper and quite frankly he found it alarming. His ears were straight up and he was completely still as his nose twitched. Pulling in a unfamiliar smell his muzzle curled just a bit as he hesitantly took a step forward, jerking back when the letter moved because of a soft breeze. Well, it didn't look dangerous and so he took a harsh breath and made his way forward to go and look at the thing. As cyan colored eyes narrowed he took in what the note said, actually having a hard time reading it since well, he didn't have to read when he was with his human. He struggled for a few moments grumbling under his breath before he lightly dragged a paw against the ground in slight frustration. It took a couple more minutes before he got the gist of it. "Uh...okay some type of damn celebration...uhh...Stormclan... damn it."
