    so i plan on posting water's intro after work, but until then, i figure i ought to toss this up to get things rolling with her! if you're reading this, it's probably up lmao

    waterpaw is nine [or so? idk yet] months old, the cousin of blackpaw, and an apprentice. she's pretty low-key, very socially awkward - she tends to just say whatever she's thinking about [and thinks aloud often]; while it isn't usually mean, it can often make situations uncomfortable. "you look super attractive right now." to someone she shouldn't, or "i wonder if a bee thinks it's mating when it pollinates a flower." she's very even tempered, and very rarely explodes, but can come across as passive aggressive at times. always speaks low and quietly, resting face is very sad, though she's usually quite even.

    she's open to:
    friends
    romance [long term or short term - would probably be pretty funny in it?]
    crushes [on her, up to you whether or not she knows, or on someone else, will be super open and awkward about it]
    enemies [most likely them hating her, since she doesn't feel much hatred?]
    mentor [definitely needed]
    adoptive family
    best friends [would also be an interesting dynamic]
    human au's [would be super fun, love 'em]
    most other things

    she's closed to the usual for now. no capture, harm, litters, or anything like that. [for nooow....]

    i've survived work
    sixteen hour shift of hell

    maybe waterpaw and miska could become friends?
    she's like legit the easiest person for anyone who's any degree of mean to befriend
    because she just either doesn't recognize rudeness or just straight up doesn't care
    so long as they don't care that she literally says everything she thinks

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    there was something very pleasant about the presence of waterpaw. it isn't that she's overly charming, or some lovely little flower, or even a spunky spitfire. in fact, it was the fact that she was none of the above that made her so easy to be around. she was calm and easy and she just didn't care about silly little things. she was someone to be around if you wanted company, if you didn't want, didn't expect anything out of it. she was always even emotionally, never high, never low. she was open and honest and up front with you. you knew exactly what you were getting into with the fem.

    she wasn't rude or cold or detached like the rest of her clanmates, she was just different. she couldn't help but say whatever was on her mind. her thoughts were most always nice, they were simply odd. they could make others uncomfortable, if one didn't realize that you couldn't just buy into everything she said. if she called you attractive, it was because she thought you were - not that she had any sort of feelings beyond that.

    perhaps that was why the apprentice found herself sitting alone at sunset. because she was refreshing, but she wasn't charming or lovely or spunky. she wasn't some name-brand candy bar, and most preferred to spend their time with those who fit into the usual archetypes. not that waterpaw minded; she was just fine on her own. she sat there, just outside of the apprentices den, staring down at a mouse in boredom, unsure if she was really all that hungry.

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    mouse blood stained the muzzle of the pale golden fem, a sure sign of a successful catch. she'd been trailing after yet another mouse when she'd caught wind of the scene, and made her way over to the growing gaggle of felines, centered around this 'fly'. she hadn't anything against joiners - waterpaw hadn't anything against much of anyone, really -, but she did have a question that she'd have asked anyone, because social ques weren't the fem's thing, and she just sort of said what she thought.

    "you smell like old fear." she observed, tone flat, as she fell in beside jadefeather, giving the older fem a respectful dip of her head, because she'd been raised with some damn good manners, and turned her cool, curious blue eyes back to this 'fly'."why?"

    perfect evidence of what she'd die alone.

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    waterpaw being the one to stumble upon this fem was either a stroke of luck or misfortune, depending on how you saw it. perhaps the most socially inept creature in shadowclan, she lacked the skills necessary to pick up on ques, and when she did, she rarely responded to them. she said exactly what she thought, regardless of whether or not anyone cared to hear it. it wasn't often rude or snarky, not like many of her clanmates, but it was honest and frank.

    however, waterpaw didn't care much about clan rivalry or borders. she followed them, because it was easier than breaking them, but she didn't pretend as though they made some big deal to her. at the end of the day, they all had blood and bones and fur, they were all felines, and hating other felines was like rooting against your own team.

    "hey." she said as she approached, her own webbed toes moving easily, and relatively silently, in her native turf. she stared at the apprentice before her, smaller than the tall and leggy feline, and certainly younger. "you're on shadowclan territory. i guess. i'm supposed to ask why, and encourage you to remove yourself unless otherwise necessary."

    it was clear that she wasn't actually doing so. it was a matter of "can you just do it to make my life easier because i'd rather resume my hunting then stand around like a flock of crows".

    a slight breeze slipped through the evergreens, stirring up the air, and windclan hit her nose like a smell she wasn't sure she liked or dislike. it was a peculiar scent, one she'd long since recognized as windclan from her first gathering, and she quirked a brow. "windclan?" she added, though it was more of a rhetorical question than anything else.

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    waterpaw had been doing... something. she'd used the excuse of hunting practice to get out of camp, but she hadn't actually put effort into finding something to eat. she'd simply wanted to stretch out the long, thin limbs that carried her. get the blood flowing, warm herself up. but she stumbled across the situation by chance, as she happened to do with most things, and she found herself quirking a brow at locustpaw. who'd want to join with a welcoming party like that? then again, it didn't seem very out-of-character for the younger apprentice.

    the dull golden fem sighed as sauntered over, giving the male a once-over. she was the oldest of the group, even if only by a moon, and she didn't really want to be responsible, not for any situation involving the rather aggressive young tom. but one moon was hardly enough to call authority, and she fancied she couldn't be blamed too much should anything go wrong. she'd do what she'd seen others do, until someone, anyone, older and with actual authority arrived.

    then she'd continue on with her walk.

    face lacking in emotion, a twinge of something between boredom and kindness showing in the fem's dark blue eyes, she cleared her throat. she had manners, at least. "we can take you to camp, or at least to the nearest warrior. they can deal with you from there." she responded, tone flat, it was always flat. flicking an ear, she eyed the younger male. "i'm waterpaw. you are?"

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    locustpaw was like a plague to newcomers. he was always there, always snipping something nasty out, or at least doing so with passive aggression. waterpaw had long since realized this was who he was, and she'd gathered he didn't favor outsiders much, or anyone, really. but this time, the fem sauntered on closer with a little more speed, though not quite hurrying, fancying the tom would only get worse if given the time.

    "don't mind him," she said passively as she eyed the tiny, certainly younger fem. "he's always like that. nothing personal." she told the girl, eyeing locustpaw for a moment before glancing back at her. he'd asked the golden question none the less, one that was apparently necessary, and she supposed they'd need an answer.

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    waterpaw had been on her way to bed, having woken bright and early and feeling overdue for some sleep. her paws ached and her lids felt heavy, half closed over the dark blue irises, when she'd heard the ordeal. immediately pressing closer, the fem slipped in beside the toms, considering she was the only one of the trio that could actually see, and concern covered her usually blank features.

    she tossed a glance at the medicine cat before turning her eyes back to the tom, daring to step forward and give him a good sniff. she wasn't sure if he was sick or not, but she knew the scent of sickness well enough. she'd lived through leaf bare and leaf fall, she'd seen plenty of different kinds. she wasn't even close to a medicine cat, but if this was something she could recognize as contagious... well, she'd be getting out of there. she liked her fellow apprentice, but she wasn't willing to go through this herself. that was what jaggedsight was for, right?

    "has this happened before?" she couldn't help but ask the male, trying to move her lips in defined motions, having never been good at filtering herself. she had to figure out if this was a miska issue, or a contagious issue. it would decide the degree of aid she'd be able to offer.

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    maybe she and water could become friends?
    water's also super honest [says exactly what's on her mind 24/7], but it's usually pretty nice. she doesn't really care if someone's rude, since that's like 70% of shadowclan, and things don't really surface with her.
    they're like two sides of the same coin

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    water ships anyone?
    suffix is a supersecrettm, so it's just water- rn lmao

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    waterlocust thread?
    she literally gives zero shits so i imagine him just like trying to bully her
    and she's just sitting there like "cool bro, but why u so angry?"

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    i hate my job like so much,
    i got it as soon as i turned sixteen because someone in my house needed to work
    but i've kinda moved in with my dad so i don't have to anymore
    and now i think i've just become a workaholic? #nofriends #whatlife
    but like prom is expensive af and the dress i want is almost $500,
    so gotta make that moneyyy

    and oml, i want to get water a crush so badly?
    she's the type to sit there like
    "hey"
    "heyyyy"
    "ur hot"
    "u wanna date?"
    and they're just super not interested

    who makes?

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    omg that would be hilarious
    i was planning on water dating a guy or two and then realizing she's gay?
    but idk 100% yet lmao

    it's low key gonna be almost a thousand dollars
    because i like expensive things
    and my dad doesn't love me that much

    and that'd be lit fam!

    also, i think i might make water a lil older, so she can be a warrior soon, because shadowclan has like a lot of apprentices
    idk, i think i might like make her become a warrior at like fifty posts or something
    because there ain't enough mentors to go around for all these kids lmao

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    mister is otp
    because miska is gay
    and water's low-key gonna be gay
    and there will be zero chance of it working

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    "we need to talk."
    "yeah, we do."
    "i'm gay fam."
    "yeah, same."
    "cool."
    "cool."

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    a voice disrupted her mental wandering, forcing the fem out of her stasis and her eyes onto the white male. miska, she reminded herself. waterpaw knew everyone's name, regardless of whether or not she actually knew them. many of these people, she'd been raised with, and those who came into the equation later in the picture were known.

    she didn't know the younger apprentice well, though she knew very few people well, but she knew of him. so when he came up with a line, she couldn't help but quirk a brow. she always said exactly what was on her mind, it was like a tic, and this time was no different.

    "that sounds like a pick up line." she said, tone flat. she wasn't often very expressive, not unless she had good reason to be. so she stared at him with blank features, dark blue eyes tracing over the male's features. "i don't think it is, considering you're a kid and i'm a few sunrises from being a warrior, but it sounds like one." there wasn't much of a reason for her to point this out, but there never was. she wasn't very good at recognizing or stopping herself from doing this, of course, and even if she could somehow tell, she didn't care much.

    of course, she didn't linger on the matter, she never did, and instead glanced at the sky. "pretty is objective. i prefer it when it rains, and everything is gray. gray is a nice color.

    "want to share this?" she moved from one thing to another effortlessly, pressing the mouse forward. the femme had been raised well mannered, and she'd been taught that it was rude not to offer to share food. she wasn't sure why, it just was. apparently.

    [center][fancypost=background-color:; border: 0px; width: 400px; text-align: justify;]
    waterpaw had never quite fit in with her clanmates. she looked different, tall and thin and her golden fur dull and sort of dead looking. she acted different, she was nice, open and honest and awkward. she never said or did anything right, or so others often acted. she didn't understand social ques, and when she did, she didn't care to follow them most of the time. she was well mannered and even tempered, impossible to bother or set off.

    she was a special snowflake, or so her mother had told her once, when she was very young. because she didn't keep anything inside. it went beyond a personality defect, it was a mental defect. there was a switch in her brain that'd never been flipped to tell her to keep things in her head. she couldn't help it, couldn't stop herself - anything she thought just came out, whether she was on her own or with others.

    rarely was it unkind, she wasn't an unkind person, thank starclan for that. but it wasn't always appropriate or well mannered, as she often tried to be. she was thankful that she wasn't some sensitive little flower, that others words did little to nothing to her. freak and weirdo were things she'd heard often, but it sometimes got worse than that. much, much worse. alas, they were wolves without teeth, and they couldn't do anything to her. cruel words never worked, fighting wasn't allowed, and there wasn't much else to be done against her.

    she'd been contemplating whether or not she really belonged in shadowclan, or if she'd find herself better off elsewhere, when she caught sight of miska. the male had joined shadowclan, surely he must feel as though he belonged there. or at least he wanted to. why, was beyond her. shadowclan wasn't exactly full of sunshine and flowers, and she didn't see why many chose to come here. she'd learned to appreciate how dim and dark and gray everything was, but she didn't see why anyone would choose it.

    she was going to ask just that, her lips parted and hard gaze focused on him as she edged closer, when she realized something was amiss. and, having ever the short and flightly attention span, she blinked slowly. "what's wrong?" she inquired, though her flat tone made it sound more like a demand. curiosity crept into her irises, and she selected a seat directly in front of him, frowning.
