Kilio followed closely behind Elixir, not wanting to admit how much the proximity to his friend made him feel better. The further they trekked into the ShadowClan jungle the more he felt grateful that he wasn't alone. He was amazing, of course, but having a friend around was always good in enemy territory. He wrinkled his nose up at the musty smell of the clan, already missing the rain filled scent of RiverClan.

Picking up his pace to fall in line with Elixir, the striped hyena cub looked up to the unicorn. "S-so we're here," he whispered, feeling like his voice echoed among the trees more than he would have liked, "Now do we find some of the shadowcowards and teach them not to mess with RiverClan?" He pushed some excitement into his voice, though the mane along his back was still puffed up in apprehension. It was alright, he was with Elixir and they were great! They would show those ShadowClanners and go home heroes. Probably.

"R-right!" the young cub shook out his pelt and stood a bit taller as he walked alongside Elixir, puffing himself up to try and appear larger than he was. He just needed to be brave! Like Elixir, or Neon, he needed to be able to look danger in the eye and be excited about it.

And that chance presented itself rather quickly. As Punchy approached, Kilio raised his hackles and let out a low growl. Well, as low and menacing as the cub could make it sound. "We're RiverClanners, and we're here to show ShadowClan not to mess with us!" he barked. He gave a slight glance to Elixir. It didn't really feel right to fight a kitten, even an enemy kitten. But he could at least scare him a bit, he hoped.

Kilio felt a chill run down his spine at the sight of the ShadowClan leader, his mane standing on end as he listened to her horrible, torturous description. The appearance of what looked like a decaying zombie only solidified the fear aching in his bones. What was this place? They really had picked a hell of a way to try and prove themselves to the clan.

But he had to go through with this. He had to make his dad proud, make the clan proud. Elixir was so confident, Kilio was sure he could take on the battle with the kitten and that horrifying barbed-tail mummy. Looking at Sango, the hyena puffed out his chest with some kind of false confidence, his amber eyes blazing. "You shadowcowards are the disgusting ones! We just want to live our lives, a-and you went and made us enemies! And then captured Felix!" He huffed, trying to hold up his wavering confidence in the face of the hellhound. "I-I bet your clan would be way better off without such an awful leader!" With that final barking cry, he ran at @SANGO with open jaws, attempting to jump up and sink his teeth into her shoulder.

    ///ic opinions i lov e you sango

His father's voice rang in his ears as his teeth sunk into the hellhound's flesh. What was his dad doing here? It was enough of a shock for him not to notice the awful taste of fur and skin, only keeping his jaws latched while he dangled from Sango's shoulder until he was brutally ripped away by her jaws. He felt the ground before he ever saw it, his head a swirl of pain and confusion. Where was Arcanepaw? Was he alright? Kilio felt a completely different kind of fear grip his heart, the thought of his father in trouble. He had come here to make him proud, not put him in danger!

The rush of adrenaline he felt was only barely enough to help him stand up, still wobbling as he shifted his dizzy vision to the direction his father's voice had probably come from. He was just barely conscious enough to make out Sango leaping at Arcane, and he let out a horrified yelp that ached against his pounding head, "Dad, no!"

The world still spun around Kilio's vision, making him feel sick to his stomach. But seeing Arcane stuck between both a great hellhound and a massive stallion, he forced his way forward towards his father. He couldn't let his dad get hurt. Not just because he had wanted to help his clan. It would be entirely his fault and the young hyena couldn't stand the thought of it. He wasn't even sure if Elixir had managed his own battle. Was the unicorn hurt too?

A sob escaped his throat at the crunch of Finch stomping Arcane, but the confusion clouding his mind cleared slightly at the shock of seeing his father's form morphing. Amber eyes widened, frozen on the new wolf form that had taken Arcane's place. What was happening? Was that still his father? It had his voice, it must be. Kilio watched as the large wolf (dad?) lunged for the horrible stallion - just as Sango leaped again at Arcane.

He wouldn't let this happen. Gaining a burst of speed out of terror, the cub aimed to give @SANGO another bite, this time just on the back leg to keep her from reaching his father. Although he was still greatly weakened from the earlier daze, and he wouldn't be surprised if his bite had no effect on the hellhound.

Kilio's jaws snapped at the air as he was tugged away by the torso and into the air. He dangled uselessly, watching as two more ShadowClanners came forward to join the fray. There was no way Arcane could handle this entire clan on his own. Was he going to be forced to watch them rip his father apart, unable to even move from his spot midair?

The thought terrified the cub. He began to desperately struggle in the grasp of whatever held him, but his movements halted when a wave of sand grasped his hind paws, holding them in place with an enormous amount of pressure. He heard a sickening snap, but it seemed it didn't come from his own bones. It was probably only his height off the ground that saved him from the full wrath of the substance, but as it was he was completely immobilized.

It didn't help when he finally looked up at Arcane, the wolf with his back leg encased in that violent sand. With the pained look in his father's face, Kilio suddenly understood that awful noise had been Arcane's own leg snapping. The sound echoed in his mind, and the pain from his earlier beating all seemed to flow back. He was likely fully concussed from when Sango had slammed him into the ground, and he'd used up all his emergency adrenaline energy. With one last terrified look towards his father, Kilio let out a pained whimper, his form slumping in midair as his eyes fell shut.

The sudden voice caused Kilio to jerk up, looking towards the tabby who had appeared. What was this clanmate doing here? And who did he think he was? Kilio could do anything he set his mind to, he could easily learn to swim in the pool! Puffing out his cheeks, Kilio made a quick twisting motion, just barely managing to turn around on the branch with one of his paws getting stuck sideways. "Says who? I'm doing just fine, thank you very much."

Really, Newt had no reason to worry. Kilio was perfectly capable of handling his own adventures, he didn't need anyone breathing down his neck about what was dangerous. He lived for the thrill of danger! Turning again, the cub attempted to undo the motion he had made earlier and look back at the pool. His one paw, still stuck, suddenly bent at the wrong angle, causing it to slip off the branch and into the air.

And it didn't take long for the rest the hyena to follow the movement his paw had started. Eyes wide in surprise, he barely had time to register to incoming water before he was dunked under the surface by the force of gravity. The cub thrashed wildly at the currents, an icy chill numbing his movements. What was this? He had to swim! He had to learn to swim right now! He began making a running motion with his paws, trying to walking along the water. He needed to figure this out soon, or his lungs were going to give out while he was still under.

Wheezing sounds filled the air as Kilio greedily sucked oxygen into his lungs, followed by violent coughing. That hadn't gone as planned. At all. He wasn't even sure how they had ended up back on land, but he begrudgingly admitted it was probably a good thing Newt had been there. With shaky legs, Kilio stood slowly, his soaking pelt plastered to his frame. He reached out one paw to nudge the feline before him. "Um. Are you alright?" His words were hoarse and punctuated by gasps, but he forced them out nonetheless.

Kilio smiled at Arcane's response, though he had a feeling his dad still didn't feel completely better about whatever nightmares he had been having. The hyena looked towards Newt as he spoke, nodding alongside his words, then back at Arcane. "Yeah Dad, it's ok! And don't apologize, we love you." He curled a bit closer to the canine, letting out a small yawn. "I can protect you from nightmares, I'll keep them away."

The words brought up a bubble of indignation in Kilio's chest. He didn't need anyone's help, he shouldn't have to have an older clanmate trailing behind him with everything he wanted to do! But at the mention of his father his frustration deflated a bit. He didn't want to make his dad sad. But he knew what he was doing! This was just bad luck, just an unfortunate bump in his adventures that turned out ok in the end. Those happened all the time! He would be fine, really.

The young hyena pushed his ears back, huffing as he turned away from Newt. "I just wanted to see if I could do it myself. A-and we're both fine so. . . it doesn't matter that much." Conflict swam in his eyes, wanting to be independent and strong but also feeling some twinge of guilt at the possibility of worrying Arcane. "I-I'll ask someone to teach me to swim. It won't happen again. S-so please don't tell my dad about this." And maybe he'd take a break on self adventures for a while. That didn't mean he'd have some stuffy adults following him, no way! But he'd at least bring friends along until he got a better feel for the territory. Just in case.

Ears perked up as Kilio whipped his head back to look at Newt. A haunted cove? Treasure? Now that sounded awesome. Way better than whatever he was hoping to find at the bottom of that deathly vortex pool! He nodded quickly towards the feline, amber eyes bright. "Alright! Yeah! I can be your body guard in the haunted cove. But if we find any treasure, I get to keep some of it!" Maybe this guy wasn't all that bad. Kilio would still get up to his own adventures with some other friends, of course, but for now it sounded fun enough to follow Newt. Especially if it meant his father wouldn't know about the incident.

"And, uh, you can teach me to swim sometime." That would be useful, wouldn't it? He could try out adventuring at sea then, swimming to a new island! Yeah, this feline was proving to alright in Kilio's book.

Well, Kilio wouldn't argue with that. He could take all the treasure and share it with Arcanepaw! Although he'd have to tell his dad that he went adventuring with the feline of his own accord and not because he had his ass dragged out of a river. It wasn't lying if he just left out what happened before they went to the cove! Besides, he'd have so much to say about a haunted adventure that no one would question how he decided to get there. Looking at Newt eagerly, the hyena barked "Alright, let's go fight some ghosts then!"

[They can go to the cove here! Unless you got other plans you wanna do c:]

Every step was torture, every vibration pounded in his head. Kilio knew Elixir was probably making the ride as gentle for him as possible, and it sure beat having to walk himself, but he could still only barely handle the pain that throbbed in his skull as he laid across the unicorn's back. Was his father nearby? He couldn't tell, he didn't even know what his father looked like anymore after that strange form change.

It was his own fault, he knew. His fault his dad got injured. His fault Elixir was stuck carrying a cub despite having his own injuries. As much as the pain running through his skin sucked, at least it helped to distract from the oncoming guilt that sank into his stomach. Trying to pay attention to something else, he scented the air, noticing it smelled a lot more like the clear air of RiverClan than the dark odor of ShadowClan. He opened his eyes momentarily, squinting against the light and letting out a soft huff. "Eli? Are we home?"

Kilio whimpered slightly as he slowly slid off of Elixir's back and into Arcane's paws. He wanted to press his muzzle into the canine's fur, be coddled and told everything would be alright, but he still didn't know what to make of the transformation. Of everything that happened. He turned to those who had gathered, trying to keep his head from spinning as much as it was. "D-dad's leg. . . fix his leg first." The sound of crunching bones echoed in his mind, along with the image of Arcane's pained expression. His expression squished up in a crying motion, though he was too exhausted to form any tears.

As much as his head hurt him it was the feeling of fear and confusion that really bothered the hyena in the moment. He gave Kate a sad look, his ears drooping. "We wanted to help. We wanted to keep ShadowClan away. . ." He gave a glance to Elixir then, finally noticing all of injuries along the unicorn's form. "E-eli are you alright?"

//Kilio is concussed and sore all over with some bad bruising and scrapes on his left side. I believe one of Arcane's legs got cronched

He was glad that Elixir seemed mostly ok, but Kilio ignored the arguments around him. He didn't think leaving camp was wrong of them, even leaving the territory didn't seem so bad. But at the moment he had to agree that going to ShadowClan specifically hadn't played out well. Turning to Tea, he blinked at her a bit, trying to keep his head up for her. "Yeah, I feel sick. Why can't I sleep?" He had very nearly fallen asleep on Elixir's back, his aching the only thing that really kept him awake. He was so tired.

Although through his sleepy thoughts he realized what Titan had said. What Ivylee would want to do? Was she going to punish them? Who was he kidding, of course she was. He would probably be confined to his den for a decade! No more adventures, he was going to be on camp cleaning duty for the rest of his life. This was just super.
