    // ack im so late getting around to all of aure's threads, sorry for the delay ;w;

Aurelien was pleased with the reaction he got. If the blade-wielding wolfdog suspected anything, his act had covered for him nicely. Years of training did him good, he seemed, and he felt proud of himself.
He didn't really deserve to be proud of himself. It wasn't the first time he'd pulled such a facade. But he liked to treat himself to self-praise as often as he could - how else would he maintain such a high self-esteem? Creating a large ego was the best way to keep it afloat, and besides, who better to love than himself? Aurelien could never let Aurelien down, unlike some men he'd known in the past. The disappearance of one in particular continued to chew at his heartstrings even in these years after he'd lost contact.

But now was no time to think about long lost lovers, even if they had never really been lovers. Now is no time to think about long lost pets, he thought, correcting himself. "I'll go fetch something immediately," he said, hurrying off into the undergrowth.
He returned a few minutes later with a wet cloth hanging from his jaws. "I found this laying around, but it was filthy, so I dunked it in the river. I'm not really skilled at first aid, so I can't tell how useful it will be - will it help?" He looked up at Dean, hoping for at least a small praise or a few words of gratitude.

All he'd wanted to hear was that Dimitri would be disappointed if he left. It was all he needed to encourage him to keep playing.
He'd suffered a lot of harsh rejections and cruel acts of disregard, from men and women alike. He'd received a lot of love too, but it was too often that when he really wanted something, he couldn't seem to get his paws on it. It destroyed his ego, shattered his mentality into pieces, and perhaps he liked it somewhere deep down, but it still hurt. He could win over less interesting playthings with ease, but when he set his sights on a true prize and bolted in for the victory, he always came just a little short of the victory. He didn't know why the world would curse him in such a way, but he fought against it with each passing day, and some day he'd win over a prize to be proud of.

But until then, there was a game at hand. This was certainly no time to be daydreaming, let along reminiscing of past encounters. He had to focus on the here and now if he wanted to make any progress.

"Aw, well I'd feel so guilty if I left you disappointed," Aurelien admitted, gazing thoughtfully up at the sky. "Perhaps I will stay." He stared at a cloud as it floated past, then he turned his head to look at the kitsune, a curious light in his red eyes. "I'd love to keep playing, on one condition." He leaned forward again, practically balancing on his claws. His weight threatened to tip him over, but he stayed firmly in place. "I need a bit of encouragement - a little kiss would do."

Pleased to hear that he'd been successful in his assistance, Aurelien sat back and huffed. His smile returned shortly afterwards. "That certainly was a start! I guess a big dog like you had trouble minding his big paws sometimes. There's the pleasure in being a small creature like myself, I suppose." Self-flattery? Of course. There was never a time he'd been below it. It was a lonely time in his life, and with no one around to compliment him on his beautiful body, he had no choice but to handle it himself! It truly was a pain, but he couldn't do anything about it. It was like doing chores without the reward of allowance!
Ignoring the fact that the ego boost could be considered a reward, of course.
His ego was already so big that he couldn't sense when it was growing. He barely even knew it existed. Sometimes he worried about how self-deprecating he acted, and out of concern, he'd proceed to treat himself to a flurry of compliments, interrupting the admiration he'd likely been engaging in beforehand.

    He tried his best.

He sidled over to Dean, brushing his head against the large canine's jaw and acting as thought it had been accidental contact he'd made on his way to examine the wounded paw. "So, you'll be alright, then?"

// school restrictions are the bane of my existence so i get you there cx

"I understand," Aurelien purred. "I've done plenty of wandering myself in the years I've been around. I'm doing it right now!" He lifted his paw to conceal the shy chuckle that left him shortly afterwards. Then he lowered it and his ears pricked. That question was good, indeed. Why, he wasn't even certain himself what he was doing.
"My circumstances aren't much different. I'm not living anywhere at the moment, you see, so I'm just enjoying the unpredictable wilds as I roam," he explained, deciding to lay down and relax as he spoke. "I've met many a face, I have! Mm, there are many more kind people in the world than I ever bothered to realize, and I've seen a lot of the world." After all, being a vampire meant he had a lot of time on his hands, so when he wasn't visiting his family or touring the landscape of his birthplace, he explored with the intent of meeting new people and making new friends.
And tasting new tastes. Everyone's blood was a little different. But that wouldn't be beneficial to mention, would it?

He'd done a lot of wandering. He'd met a lot of people. He'd had some fun exchanges with said people. But things always ended up the same way - with him being lonely. No, simply walking around, breathing in the scenery, and thriving off of the occasional meet-up with a stranger simple wouldn't do it. The needy cheetah needed more attention than that. He missed living in a big group, and he couldn't be bothered to return to his dear home. His family were wonderful people (according to his definition of 'wonderful'), but it was missing a key element that he simply could not do without. He'd ran off to track down this missing piece of the puzzle, but never did find it, and he'd been ambling around aimlessly ever since.

The floating islands took his breath away the moment he saw them.

"Goodness, how gorgeous," he murmured, staring up at them through dark red eyes. He reared back, throwing his weight onto his hind legs and pushing himself upwards until he was standing on only his pack paws in an attempt to get a closer look. It was relatively fruitless, but his eyes were ever round with intrigue. He may not have been able to glimpse the surface of those magnificent islands, but he certainly could eye the grandiose pathway that led up to them. He took a few moments to consider. Was this a good idea? Pfft, of course it was, all of his ideas were good ones, after all! He lowered himself back onto all four paws and pranced over to the staircase, hopping up as many steps as he could with each bound.

It wasn't long before he heard the telltale sounds, the bustling drone that indicated a busy environment - one populated by people! Excitement was tingling throughout his body from head to toe and he picked up the pace, making a dash for the top step.

"Ah, hello?" he called out once he finally set foot on the solid surface of the island. "This place has caught my interest beyond what I can express. Is some kind of civilization settled here? If so, I'd be delightfully interested in making myself at home among you." There was no time to introduce himself, he was too excited! Finally, he had a chance to live among others once again.

Aurelien looked between them as the smile on his muzzle did nothing but grow. He was pleased to hear that they were friendly, and he was content to have been given the name of this lovely place - BlizzardClan. Ah, he delighted in the sound of it. Very powerful and beautiful, those were the vibes he got from a name like that, and by the look of the scenery and the people within, his observations were accurate.

Then his ears lifted with surprise. Had he not introduced himself?! Why, that was an unforgivable mistake for a man of his politeness. One of his rules was to treat everyone he met pleasantly, and yet here he was making such a simple blunder. (And perhaps that was an over-exaggeration, but he'd refute any such claims the moment they arose.) "Oh! My oh my, what a fool I can be sometimes," he said with a lighthearted laugh, bonking himself on the head with his paw. "My name is Aurelien LeClair, my gorgeous maidens. Just calling me Aurelien is quite alright as well. Is there anything else I should add?"

Aurelien's eyes practically glowed (or perhaps they were literally glowing, it was hard to say) with triumph and eagerness as his simple request was accepted. He felt Dimitri's paw on his cheek, and then all he was aware of were lips against his.
It was brief, but the sweet taste of success continued to linger on his tongue even after they had separated. He'd gotten something at long last, and although it wasn't much, he wanted more.
But he wouldn't act upon his urges. Not only was it the stark opposite of gentlemanly, which some something he strived to be, but it wasn't as fun. Fighting against his worse instincts and continuing to take his turns despite the tugging in his chest made the game much more enjoyable, and he was beyond excited to see what would happen next.

"Ah," he hummed after pulling away, "I can tell those lips have met many 'opponents'." His tone was teasing and he lowered his head, looking up at Dimitri with a devilish light in his eyes. "Nothing wrong with a bit of experience, hmm?" He knew that he too packed a lot of experience under his belt, and the canine had probably picked up on it in an instant if he was as sharp as he seemed. Aurelien had spent many nights with many men - he was not only familiar with the game, but rather it had become a part of him, merging with his very essence to create the seductive tempter sitting there in a cheetah's body.

He smiled and laid down, stretching out his forepaws while his hind legs remained tucked underneath him. "Well, do you have anything else in store, lovely?"

    [ "speech" - actions - thoughts ]

What lovely greetings! He was already feeling right at home, being showered with attention like this. He doubted it would last once these initial encounters were over, so he was savouring the moment while he could. He drank in every word that was spoken to him, and each particular set of eyes that spent even a few seconds' worth of time studying his figure, along with the emotions lurking underneath. His body was attentive, ears pricked and eyes keenly taking in everything that happened.

First, the one named Sweetophelia. He showed his teeth in a kind grin - the smile seemed to grow every time he was about to speak - and shook his head humbly. "Ah, well, how could I not think highly of such a gorgeous place? I would hope that anyone who's ever laid eyes upon these islands feels similar sentiments. Ah, and it's a pleasure, by the way, Sweetophelia." When addressing someone personally, he always took care to mention someone by name. It was another of his odd little 'rules' - or perhaps he just thought it was fun.

"Thank you, Yuki-Onna," he purred, shifting his focus to the angora with the gorgeous white fur. And then there was the curious little serval. How cute he was! But as he'd posed an offer, he'd wait to respond. Instead, he looked at Luna once again. "And the same to you, Luna."

Now he could give his full attention to the young serval in good conscious, having had spoken to everyone else. He thought back to the compliment about his name and lowered his head a bit, feeling bashful. "Ohh, goodness. Is it really all that?" he wondered. "And you're Pierce? That's quite an attractive name, if I do say so myself." He was already getting the sense he might have fun with this one, so he was taking the time to test the waters. "I'd quite appreciate a hut, but don't bother with food or drink. I'm quite sated in both regards. And thank you very much in advance, sweet." The one exception to the 'call everyone by name' rule was in fact if he elected instead to use a pet name. And the bit about him being sated wasn't entirely true, but vampirism made things difficult in this particular respect, so it was okay to lie a little, wasn't it?

Aurelien was quite aware of the discomfort he was putting Dean through, and he was revelling in it, basking in it like it was a warm ray of sunlight on a chilly winter's day. Not that he minded the cold - he'd lived in a very cold environment most of his life - but the facts didn't matter. His fine whiskers twitched in amusement as he waiting for Dean to piece together the stammers and sputters he was trying to articulate.

"That's good," he hummed, pleased to hear that Dean would be alright. "Ah, can't help but love a man who can tolerate some pain. You're handsome and tough. I might be in love!" His words were obvious jokes, spoken only for humour, but that didn't mean it had to be a lie. His eyes were continuously attracted to the powerful build of this canine, as much (or as little) as he tried to hide it. Ah, it was a curse. He was helpless.
