Padding in, Mels looked at the three orbs with disdain, and aimed to poke her head in front of the mirror. "Are you Julian?" She asked, totally ignoring Ghoulian for now. She wanted to talk to the wuss he'd imprisoned, and then she'd ask about the orbs later.

Finally ready to acknowledge Ghoulian, she turned to the male with a curious gaze. "Tell me about the orbs you keep mentioning."
She was still furious about Ghoulian's plans, but she had adopted a clinical manner about it, refusing to let her emotions get in the way of what was right; even if they pointed in the same direction.

There was a masked twinge of anger in her tone as she talked about Ghoulian's stealing of an identity, though interest kept her calm.
"Theoretically, is there a way to swap the two of you again?" Mels asked, her gaze shifting between the salukis. If Ghoulian refused to answer, she was sure Julian would be desperate enough for escape that he would tell her somehow.

Practising her pyrokinesis, a weapon that was becoming more and more imperative to her daily living, as well as a necessity in combat. She was working on keeping a fire up for longer than before, focusing hard as she maintained a tall wall of fire far from camp.
The fire rose up above the treetops, as Mels worked to keep it in one place.

Julian was desperate enough to get out that he shared the secrets of the mirror with her before Ghoulian could stop him. A satisfied smile played on her maw as she turned to Ghoulian, an imaginary eyebrow raised. "Well, now I know three ways to stop you if you get despicably immoral." A small snort of amusement escaped her, before she appeared to remember something and turned to Julian. "That reminds me. Julian, are you very enthusiastic about sex?" The question was direct and matter-of-fact, her gaze solid and curious. She wanted to know if her hypothesis was correct.

As Julian confirmed her question, Mels nodded in satisfaction, before turning to Ghoulian as she heard him retch. "Sorry, Ghoulian. I know mentioning that upsets you; I just wanted to know." She sounded sincere in her apology, though she felt, partly, that Ghoulian did deserve to be humiliated like that. She then said to Julian, "I'll do what I can to get you out of that mirror, but for now you'll just have to settle for humiliating Ghoulian when you get the opportunity."

Mels watched Julian's reaction, hoping he would understand without further explanation needed. "Doesn't." Really, really doesn't.

Padding over, having followed Slythe after her uncharacteristically sharp commands were heard, Mels' ears perked up at the sight of the eggs. That was an awful lot of eggs, but for Lonekit's knowledge of reptiles, that could be the average.
"What are you going to do with the eggs?" She asked, yellow eyes blinking down at them as she kept a safe distance away. She knew that many species were protective over young once born, and she didn't know whether that changed when it was eggs.

"Why would you do that? You're as bad as he is!" Mels hissed at Julian; however, soon after her immediate emotional reaction was subsided by logic and she realised that it was both understandable what Julian did and even could be considered justice. Now, her judicial nature and liking for Ghoulian was in conflict, as it always was; she knew that helping Julian was the right thing to do, but she was finding more and more that she preferred Ghoulian.
Ears flattening, she glared viciously at Julian, sadly having no weapons against him. She then turned away from the mirror, intending to totally ignore Julian, and hurried over to Ghoulian to aid him if she could; again she felt the illogical pull to help Ghoulian. "Ghoulian, ignore him. Think of something else. Nothing is happening. You're okay."

She was wary of Quill, her gaze fixed and judging. "It's the only way to learn things." She responded, her tone cold. She sensed his own self-hate in his next sentence; not that he did a great amount to hide it. "Why do you hate yourself?" She asked, a tiny bit of compassion entering her tone. Quill was a.. weird name. Though she supposed Lonekit was, too.
"I only did that to get your attention. It's not how I usually greet people." She seemed to relax a little, claws sheathing, though she stayed watchful of the male. "What were you doing picking flowers anyway? Is there someone you hope to gain the affections of using materialism and tired romantic tropes?"

It was shocking, really; she hadn't even thought about it as she told Julian. For some reason, the thought never occurred to her that Julian would use the information against his counterpart, which was nuts, because it seemed so obvious now. As she thought about it, Mels' first reaction was to do exactly what she despised in others; she refused responsibility for her actions.
"It doesn't matter if I told him or not, it's common sense knowing the logic of your situation! He would have figured it out anyway!" She snapped back, standing up but keeping her distance. "Why would you think you could trust me? We're supposed to hate each other, when did trust happen?!" Her tone was filled with confusion, anger, and even fear. When had they started trusting one another?
It didn't matter now. Any remnant of a friendship between them was shattered, not even by Ghoulian's immorality, but by Mels' betrayal. "You know I value justice and.. and equity above all else," she said weakly, knowing that was both flimsy and contradictory. Perhaps if she'd led with that..? "I.. I'm sorry." She had no argument, not really. All she could do was apologise.

At first, Mels thought her own powers had failed, but as the smoke cleared she saw it was Jammal, looking to be fearfully-motivated. Mels jumped back, blinking in shock at the male. "Are you okay? I apologise, I didn't think anyone would be out here." She spoke sincerely, tilting her head as she regarded Jammal. She had seen him around here and there, but she knew very little about him.

She'd have felt bad being as blunt as usual. Her ears twitched at his explanation for the flowers, a fascination gripping her. "Were you intoxicated?" She asked; the only time she could think of someone giving a half-dead person flowers while slobbering on them was someone intoxicated.

She listened to Ghoulian, tears in her eyes as guilt enveloped her. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do now!" She cried, having no idea of how to fix this. For all of her logic and justice, not one thing she had learned could help her. Why, in the pursuit of justice, had she ended up the villain? She froze in shock at Ghoulian's last statement, all at once feeling an immense amount of joy, horror, and more guilt. "Ghoulian, I'm half your age!" She exclaimed; of course that would be her first thought.
Mels' mind switched from emotion to logic, as it often did when she was distressed. Her mind sped along, thinking of ways to fix this, maybe she could calm Ghoulian down and then flee and never see him again? No, that was the coward's way out. Why would she run anyway? She liked him too- I'm not even an apprentice yet, and he told me himself that he's a year old at least. And he was an immoral, patricidal monster who wanted to kill the entire universe! How could this even happen?
The anti-gravity was really starting to irritate Lonekit as she floated right over Ghoulian, trying to get any kind of grip anywhere. "Listen to me Ghoulian, I'm going to be totally honest with you. I didn't even think about it when I told him, and that was entirely my fault. I shouldn't have said anything emotionally, but logically I think it's better this way." Emotion and logic were constantly warring for control in Mels' mind, and it seemed that right now, logic was in control. Ghoulian had done horrible things, including imprisoning Julian in the mirror. Julian deserved to have at least one weapon against him, when Ghoulian had many.
"Ghoulian," The kitten said again, starting to feel nauseated from the anti-gravity, "I think you take me for more mature than I am. I'm only five moons." It was harsh, perhaps, but it was true. It hurt her heart to tell him so bluntly, but she knew that as much as she liked him, if anything were to happen between the two, the power imbalance and implications would be sickening.

She had this annoying habit of empathising with enemies; she'd somewhat befriended Littlestar, their takeover leader of Hawkclan, and she'd accidentally caused Ghoulian, another Hawkclanner, to develop feelings for her. It was both irritating and distressing that she empathised so much with people; not to say she couldn't defend herself. Mels would just never partake in torture.
Mels tilted her head at his story. For whatever reason, she didn't understand. "Elaborate," she, as per usual, forgot her manners and it ended up sounding like a command, though her tone was that of mild confusion.
