"Noted." Ryan muttered, short, sweet and to the point. Fine by him.

He'd liked it, the ease that they fell into around each other, the jokes and the smiles. He could get used to it. And he did, very quickly. He liked waking up and finding her laying on his arm, holding onto him while still stubbornly clinging to sleep, or waking up and smelling whatever she was cooking in the kitchen. He liked seeing her happy, and he liked how he felt when she was happy.

    Most of the time.

Lucy wasn't giving any hints right now, was she? "No. You have to want to see it." He looked down and swallowed. "I know I've already told you that I'm sorry. And I am. I really am. If I could go back and do something differently, I would. But I can't. I... hoped I might at least give you closure." He gestured to the phone.

Ignoring Nico seemed to be the best strategy, and since he was looking to win whatever game this was, he used it and didn't pay Nico (or anyone else, honestly) any mind. He just smirked at Lucy. "What if it doesn't have one?" After hearing her reply he'd split off, going to hunt a little ways from the others, fully intending on bringing something back.

Ryan froze for a few minutes, processing what he'd just been told. Her kit, Risingrevolution, was gone. He blinked. Wasn't that what he'd wanted, any children and past lovers out of the picture so that it could just be him and Lucy? Then why, why when one of them vanished, did he feel a knot in his stomach?

    Probably because she was upset.

Ignoring Xylia's comment, and the Captain's protests, he stepped in closer. Lucy reached for her sword, but he grabbed her wrist and crouched next to her, pulling her into a hug. She was rigid in his arms. "Hey." He whispered, stroking her soft fur. "It's gonna be ok." He leaned back and wiped the tears away from her eyes, just as he had countless times before.

Once upon a time, Ryan could have pictured Lucy's demons dragging her away and keeping her hostage, all for "love". He'd thought it about it a lot, never realizing that it was him that was the demon keeping her locked away, all in the name of love. When it came to his own demons, however, they didn't bother. Maybe not because he was stronger, maybe because he wasn't worth it.

Maybe that was the demon talking.

Ryan looked at the feline on the ship, the one that had given him so much grief. He'd taken to ignoring the other, and Nico returned the "favor". It worked for Ryan, honestly. The mutual urge to punch him was too fucking strong for their own goods.

He still wasn't used to the rocking of the ship - he likely would never get his sea legs, but it didn't matter. Actually, when a particularly strong wave rocked the boat enough that he was sent sprawling, it probably did. Grunting, the male extracted himself from the barrels he'd smacked into. Great, he'd made an idiot of himself. Fucking brilliant.

    //this is lame I'm sorry

"it was going surprisingly fast, but that wasn't surprising" guys please literally kill me I didn't write that on purpose

He knew it was working, that she was coming down from whatever insane ledge she'd gotten herself up onto. She was coming down, back into his arms. Maybe not entirely, not like he wanted, but it was progress, and he was in this for the long haul. He always had been. But then the moment was broken and she was jerking away, grabbing her sword and pointing it at his neck. He raised his paws, which only made her point it closer.

He narrowed his eyes, trying to disguise the betrayal and hurt at the accusations, but not doing a very good job of it. "I'm not! I'd never do that to you!" He might want to take her away, to somewhere where it was just them, but it was supposed to be a "riding off into the sunset" moment, not "drove off in a white van". He wasn't gonna hurt her kids - he was trying to earn back her trust, why would he shatter it over a kid that wasn't around much anyway?

"Lucy... please... listen to me." He said imploringly. "You're not yourself right now, put the sword down before you hurt someone. We can get through th-" He was cut off by Blair, and shot her a glare. She didn't know anything. He was the only one that had a chance of calming Lucy down, everyone else was just in the way. "You don't know anything." She didn't know how close he'd been to calming her down, or why Lucy was acting this way, or even who Rev was. She had nothing to do with this, none of them did!

He rolled his eyes. It was a few steps away from their old banter, but at least she wasn't as hostile towards him anymore... which was kind of amazing because that wasn't a tolerant or friendly conversation. Better than nothing, he supposed.

He peeled off from the others, slinking into the bush. Scenting the air, he caught the smell of a mouse. Not all that impressive, but it was a start. Sliding into a crouch, he began stalking it, getting closer and closer until - pounce! Fuck. Missed it. Hissing, he tore after it, not willing to let it get away. It was nearing it's burrow, and he leaped, just managing to pin it down. With a satisfied snarl, he snapped its neck.

    ye that works for me!
basically Ryan and Lucy/Sel dated in a past life, and he'd hit her if she brought up having kids. They died in a car crash, lost their memories, got reborn, got their memories back, Ryan found her again aand yeah. She's been treating him like a scumbag while he tries to make things right and get back together with her

Was it weird to say that his apartment had really started feeling like home when he started finding Lucy's stuff scattered around his apartment, even before she officially moved in? Both of them had come from broken families, but unlike Sel his house growing up had never been home, there had been no need for a revelation that his parents sucked at parenting. He'd known that from the moment he was old and wise enough to comprehend it.

He looked up abruptly as she said that the question was about whether he'd do the right thing. He stared at her, wide eyed. The right thing? A dozen possibilities as to what that meant immediately came through his head - not going to the party, not getting drunk, not taking that road, not fighting with her, leaving sooner, even. Or get an Uber, avoid the bullshit altogether.

"Lucy..." He swallowed, watching as she picked up the phone. He couldn't see what she was looking at, but he watched her beautiful eyes, her face. He'd had friends, yes, and he'd checked up on them too. But the only person he really cared about was sitting right in front of him. "I'd make the right choice."

Ah, fucking great, Nico was there. "I'm fine." Ryan growled, glaring at the other male. "Since when do you care?" The bengal had only taken care of his wrist because he had to, not because he wanted to. There were times when Ryan thought about just... leaving, washing his hands of this fucking Clan, but he never did. Not until he had Lucy at his side, and she didn't seem likely to budge, so he wouldn't either.
//this is shit I'm so sorry

His eyes had been on Lucy/Sel, naturally, as she leaped into battle with someone she apparently knew, over someone else. He frowned, but didn't have time to ponder it, as he realized a fire ball was coming right at him. He tried to dodge, but it hit him square in the shoulder, searing his flesh. The spell "accio" however, didn't work since it didn't work on living things, and Ryan neither wore nor held anything for Newt to pull.

He hissed in pain - he'd been in plenty of fights, but no one threw fucking fireballs at him. He turned his glare to Newt - he wanted a fight, fine, he'd give him a fight. Ryan leaped forward, aiming to rake his claws down Newt's face. He'd fight through the pain for now, though this was unlike anything else he'd ever experienced.
    // newt;

Ryan shuffled in a few minutes late, taking a seat in the back, keeping his eyes trained on Lucy. Xylia was promoted to deputy? So if something happened to Lucy, a kid would be leader? He resisted the urge to snort, instead muttering, "Noted." He'd stopped expecting recognition in these things a while ago.

do I even need to say ic opinions y'all know

On a surface level, he could relate to her. Broken homes, fucked up families, destined to be nothing because they had nothing to stand on. But beyond that... not really. He couldn't relate to having your home ripped away from you, or your parent's love turn out to be false. He hadn't known any home or love until he'd known Lucy.

He glanced up at her, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He didn't say anything for the longest time, unable to guess what the right thing truly was. Even if he did guess what the right thing was, he wouldn't put it past her to change her own answer just to spite him and make him wrong. "Everything. I'd have done everything differently." He said, finally.

He watched her nervously as she looked through the pictures, the meal before him entirely forgotten. He sank his teeth deeper into his cheek when she looked back at him. "I already said I wanted to give you closure." Ryan said with a shrug. "I'm sorry if... if it made this worse."

"And I'm trying to make up for those things!" He practically yelled, suddenly exploding with frustration. Why couldn't she - and everyone else - see that he was trying to be better, trying to earn her love back? Lucy had changed, she'd changed a lot. Why was it so much to believe that he had as well?

"Will that make you feel better?" He had to force himself to remain in place, to not edge away from her and the blade that was getting closer and closer to his neck. "Will hurting me help? Will it bring back your son? No. It'll accomplish nothing."

To his complete and utter shock, Nico shoved himself in front of Ryan. What? Since when did Nico like him enough to protect him Lucy? Shouldn't he be reveling in this, not trying to stop it? "What are you doing?" He hissed, glancing at Xylia and Blair as they tried to diffuse the situation. So far nothing seemed to be working.

Most of the time Ryan didn't treat anyone like they were made of glass, nor did he tolerate any such treatment himself. He wasn't made of glass. No one was. Though... there'd been a few times when he'd treated Lucy like that, even if only briefly.

"Why not? We fight over everything else." Ryan was a bit out of the loop when it came to the Trudy stuff, so he didn't know why Nico was suddenly being decent to him. "First time I've heard that." Because of what he'd done in his previous life and Lucy constantly broadcasting it, no one treated him like a person anymore.

Do you think that the Ryan you see around here really has changed and is honestly sorry for what he's done and wants to make things right, or do you think that he hasn't actually changed and is just doing this to get back together with Lucy/Sel?
(For those that might not know, he and Sel were in an abusive relationship in a past life)

Ryan appeared not long after Xylia, though from a different direction - he tended to avoid most people, but he was still sticking around. This place meant something to Lucy, and until he convinced her to run away with him he didn't want to leave, or let this place fall apart. So... here he was. "Welcome to the Skulls." His voice, as usual, was a mutter. "Uh, technically yes and technically no."

Despite having been exposed to powers before and even knowing a deaf person in his previous life, he still wasn't entirely prepared for a voice entering his head, telling him his name, intent and location. He also wasn't ready for that person to be deaf and was definitely not about to open up his head as easy as Xylia. That was only one difference between them, though, because Ryan could also read and write. Dragging a paw through the sand, he wrote Welcome to the Skulls, I'm Ryan.

//welcome to the Skulls! It's Pyre btw, I also play Sel
