Ryan didn't really have any reason to hate the Cartel, but that had everything to do with him not knowing anything about politics or the Clan he was currently visiting. "Ditto Luce," he said as he padded up behind Sel, looking around.

And she was back to angry at him. He wished she'd just make up her mind, preferably in a way similar to the way she had last night. "Is that what this all has been? Is that what last night was? Just some... way to cope?"

"What's going on?" Ryan asked, rushing over to Sel and Xylia. Upon realizing that the source of the conflict was the note, he picked it up and skimmed it. The End Game was back, huh? Back and still bent on destroying the Clans, but this time there was hope. "I'll go." He offered, looking at Lucy.

He gave Lucy an irritated glare. "I'm doing this for you and our kits - don't have to be so condescending." He snapped, wishing she didn't have to be so frustrating, now of all times. He was making an effort here, why couldn't she?

"Don't abandon them." That was Xylia's advice, huh? Not really surprising, since it seemed that's what her parents are done. It was simple advice, really, advice that should be obvious. But whether or not to stay, whether he should try and remain and be a father to his children and a man (... tom?) for their mother, it wasn't such an easy choice. He'd never wanted kids, in fact had vehemently been against the idea for as long as he could remember, and every day all Lucy did was show him that she didn't want him in her life. Walking out would be easier, solve all his problems.

But giving up, walking away... that wasn't in his nature.

    He shrugged. "Yeah..."

Should he wait or try and improve her mood? This would have the best chance for success if she was happy and feeling warm towards him, but he didn't want to lose his nerve. Besides, he didn't have a backup question would ask - someone like her would see right through him if he tried to make something up on the spot.

He padded forward, bringing his paw forward to show her a diamond ring - stolen, of course, a swipe worthy of a pirate Captain - while trying to look into her eyes that were suddenly fixated on the ring. "Will you marry me?" He asked, wishing he could kneel properly.

fancypost='width: 50%; text-align: justify; margin: auto']None of the announcements were particularly surprising to Ryan - Lucy had a way of doing things that was usually pretty specific, so he could usually to an extent guess what would happen, which served him well enough. "Noted and welcome."

Honestly, the life of a loner appealed to Ryan much more than the life of a sailor, yet here he was. He still hadn't given up on getting back together with Sel/Lucy, and now that she was pregnant, well, as freaked out as he was, running wasn't in his nature.

Neither was letting her wander off to do Lord-knows-what, though he'd turned down the stalking for the most part. He still found himself following her to the border though, where a serval with a weird marking on his shoulder was asking to join. Well, looks like he'd appeared at the perfect time. "Of course you can. Welcome to the Skulls, Tauschung. I'm Ryan." He greeted.

//forgot to include in my other post, but welcome to the Skulls! (It's Pyre)

His frustration with her was mounting, and he sat up, the last of his tired-ness shaken off. "What did I think it was?" The volume of his voice was increasing, and he was flashed back to their fights in their old lives. He wondered if the neighbors here would be like the ones at their old apartment - annoyed by the yelling but unwilling or too lazy to do anything. "I don't know, 'I'm sorry for hurting you'? 'I miss you'? You said 'this is what I want' and 'I want you' a couple times, too." He didn't like the idea that she'd used him for comfort, used everything he felt for her to guarantee his cooperation. But it wasn't a secret that in the past they'd both done the same thing, though minus the personal feelings involved.

Ryan shuffled in not long after Xylia arrived. He was far from what anyone would call a cheerful individual, but he seemed to be in an even darker mood than usual, thanks to the Captain's rejection. But he was still there, still not running off.

Fury boiled under his skin as Sel turned this back around on him. Angrily, he shoved out his arm so she could see the scars in his wrist - marks she'd inflicted. "And I've been trying to redeem myself! I've been trying to make this right this entire fucking time, and what have you done?" He knew very well that he couldn't excuse what he'd done when they were humans, but did that make what she'd done right? "You've stabbed me, you've made everyone here think I laid paws on you to cover up for - for - for him. I'm an outcast in this fucking Clan all thanks to you, but I've stayed, trying to fix things." He was breathing heavily now, and briefly thought that it was too early for this. But now was the time to have this fight, as much as he hated it.

It seemed like a mini eternity that past while Lucy stared at the ring, saying nothing, lost in her head. His tail twitched, and he had to resist the urge to move more. Finally she spoke, but it wasn't an answer. "No." He said, not really thinking his response through before giving it. "I mean... I'd have asked you at some point, I just... Marriage ruined our parents." Lucy's mother's life had been ruined the moment her father came into it, when he trapped her in matrimony with no way to escape. And, well... According to Ryan's mother, his folks had been happy before they'd gotten married, but after that everything went downhill.

He didn't want that for him and Lucy.

"No." The words felt like a punch to the gut, a simple, crystal clear rejection. She didn't feel the need to waste anymore breath to explain why, or any of that. She just said no. "Wh-" He started to ask "what" or "why", he didn't even know because as soon as he started to ask for unnecessary clarification, he stopped. He took a deep breath, releasing it in what very much sounded lie a sigh. "Th-that's ok. We can start slow." Ryan said, still trying to make this work out.

The answer to "how would Ryan react to being called 'sweetheart' by another guy" was not as badly as one might find entertaining, but not well either. "I'm not - I - don't call me sweetheart." He stammered, shifting closer to the Captain. God, this was fucking awkward.

    //ugh lame post, I'm sorry

Floofy cheeks? Ok, maybe it was true, but it still caused him to wrinkle his nose. No, he wasn't a huge fan of nicknames. "My name's Ryan." He replied, hoping the ColouredClanner would call him that instead. "Uh, sure." Since he knew the territory, he probably ought to take the lead. Right. "Shall we?"

Ryan scanned the Cartellians, trying to spot which one had the long tail - ah, there she was, and she was trying to find him. "I'm Ryan." He said, walking towards Xael. "Uh, nice to meet you."

That was... not the reaction he expected, but Lucy rarely did react the way he thought she would. "I don't know, Luce. Because you can't fight right now? Because this place is important to you and needs protection?" He huffed. "I'm always going to fight for you."

He gave Lucy a look, but then shifted his focus to Xylia, as if to prove it. She certainly had a lot of questions about cooking, but the ferret usually had a lot to ask about, didn't she? "A whole bunch of stuff, for Rum Night. Not all of it needs to be cooked, and not all of it needs to be mixed together." He chuckled dryly. "Kid, cooking's like the one thing I'm good at."

//sorry for the late (low muse) reply!

"I might be an amateur sailor, but I promise the boat ride will be better than floating there on a raft." Ryan said, waving his tail as he started making his way back to the ship.

Ryan padded out a few minutes after Xylia did, gazing at the lone DarkClanner that had come to raid them. Mockingly? The Captain might have mentioned that this was coming up, but Ryan still didn't really get it. Why was an ally raiding them and making fun of them? "Hi." He said, unsure.

Ryan had heard the name Kodiak a few times, usually from Sel, but he was pretty sure he'd never met the leshy. Padding up next to the current Captain, he eyed the previous one. "Welcome back, name's Ryan." He said simply.
