Abel wasn't really the type to go venturing away from home ― even he admitted this ― so when he was given an opportunity and decided to do just that, it was a bit shocking, really. However, upon thinking about it further, it wasn't much of a surprise. His parents wanted him to follow his dreams, and everyone acknowledged that to do so in his former home would be near impossible. As for what these dreams were, the Manx wanted to help people. He wanted to be a doctor; he wanted to make a difference. He had a bit of basic training from back home, but even a dreamer like him knew it wouldn't be enough. He needed to learn more.
So here he was, padding up to the border of the closest clan to home that he knew of. MoonClan, if he remembered correctly. The feline was very careful not to step beyond the scent marker; he had no intentions of starting a fight or offending anyone, and from what he had heard, some clans got very uptight about border crossing. He had little knowledge of MoonClan, but it was a place to learn, so he was willing to give it a shot. That is, provided they gave him a shot. "Is- is anyone there?" he called, blushing furiously as he stumbled over words. He was going to make a bad impression if he kept that up.

Part of Abel was relieved to see someone, but the rest of him was panicking. He hadn't thought of what to say, what was he going to say? The feline began forcing words out of his mouth, making them up as he went and hoping they were coherent. "H-hi. Um, yeah. This is, uh, this is MoonClan, right? I-I wanted to join." This certainly wasn't going to make a good impression; he was freaking out at the sight of a single animal. Why should they trust him to treat their injured or sick? Abel took a deep breath, hoping to calm himself. Make a good impression, he reminded himself firmly.

At the arrival of another stranger, Abel could feel his pulse picking up once again. "Uh, no thank you," he responded. "Wait, no, um, a tour would be nice, if that's okay with you." The words were accompanied by an uncertain and somewhat forced smile. "My name is Abel. It's nice to meet you, t-too," he said. How could he have forgotten to introduce himself? Oh, dear, this was not going well for him. On the bright side, the animals here seemed okay. Álmos was an odd creature, but seemed friendly enough. Rock, who was much more similar to Abel in appearance, also seemed nice, but much more reserved. What an interesting place.

The next stranger to arrive seemed powerful, and although that may have been partly because of her snow leopard body, it was mostly because of the way she held herself and the way she spoke. It was amazing, really, what confidence could do. He wasn't surprised to discover that she was leader; he may have been if he could tell that she was younger than him, though. Perhaps one day he would be as confident as her, but for now, he was trying not to let go of his slipping grip on calmness. "I, uh, I'm interested in m-medicine, but I'm, um, I still have a lot to learn," he explained, feeling his cheeks heat up further. He'd probably look terrible next to her, both in skill level and reliability. "That's, um, that's why I came here, actually. I-I was hoping someone could t-teach me." Good. That was his point, that was why he was here, and even though it had been made choppily and sloppily, he had gotten there.

This new cat came off as slightly disappointed, but that may just have been the nerves speaking. Besides, having a teacher definitely beat not having one, so Abel wasn't really in a position to complain. If anything, he was grateful that the stranger had agreed to teach him. "Got it," he answered, and he really did, although his shaky voice may have made it seem like a lie. Hesitantly, he added, "Th-thank you, sir." It was right to thank someone in this particular instance, right? He hoped so, as it was too late to go back if he had been wrong.

"S-sure. Now works," Abel agreed. He had almost forgotten that he had asked for a tour with everything else that had happened. He was excited for it, though. Álmos seemed like a nice guy, and it would give him a chance to get more comfortable around his new clanmates.

Álmos had offered a tour, which Abel was quite happy to accept. It was a good opportunity to get to know his new home, and to get to know his new clanmates. He had been accepted into MoonClan, and here he was again, being whisked away for a tour. Not that he minded, of course ― he was glad that this was working out. The Manx waited for Álmos to take the lead, uncertain as to where exactly they were going.

Abel, fortunately, was unaware that this was the first tour Álmos had ever given; although, it might have been unfortunate, as Álmos seemed to know what he was doing, and Abel did not. "Um, I don't know. Where would you r-recommend?" Abel asked. The concept of a log cabin seemed nice, but as for where that log cabin should be, the feline had no clue. He had a feeling he would decide on one located somewhere in the middle, but it all depended on Álmos' advice. Perhaps the middle wasn't a great area ― he wouldn't know without his tour guide. He'd figure it out, he was sure; Álmos' advice would hopefully help.

In complete honesty, nothing truly bad had ever happened to Abel. There were little things, yes: the time he cut open the pad of his paw on a particularly sharp rock, the time he had gotten himself stuck in a tree for hours. But both had been fixable; neither had had a lasting effect other than a scar and slightly more caution around rocks and trees than was truly necessary. There was no real lasting emotional effect.
So he couldn't quite imagine what had caused Rock to come tumbling from the sky suddenly, landing only a few yards away from him. It made a sickening sound ― though thankfully it was not sickening enough to make him reconsider his choice to become a medic ― and he was frozen for a minute, his thoughts racing and his heart pounding in his chest. What was he supposed to do?
Naturally, he was supposed to take action, but he hadn't had enough training quite yet to keep his cool and know the exact procedure, the exact solution. Get yourself together, he scolded himself, breathing in deeply. The feline stepped forward, and repeated the action until he reached Rock's form. Abel could see shallow breathing, but it looked- wrong, almost. At least he was still alive, though.
Right. What was he supposed to do? He needed to check for damage. That was it. Abel extended a paw, trying to feel if there were any broken bones. Was that the primary concern? He wasn't sure, but it was definitely up there. He was quietly whispering to himself, trying to assemble a checklist of things to watch for and things he would need. It wasn't looking too good.
