    sunny d(ick)

marisol had forgotten just how fucking hot it was in the mortal world.

i mean, it wasn’t a big deal, considering his name and his origin, but… still. he was so used to the dreamy lighting up on olympus beside his father; all the pastels filtering through eternal sunsets, oranges and pinks and lavenders… oh, how beautiful those days were. it was too bad for marisol that he had been named an omen-bringer at birth, destined to leave that peaceful mountain-top behind and pursue other lands, however unwillingly. perhaps if he had been granted the privilege of being ‘normal’ (as normal as a demi-god of the sun can be, at least), he wouldn’t be in this mess.

he wouldn’t be lost in this fucking forest, moisture sticking to his pelt like a plague and the heat lingering in the air slowly suffocating him under the dark canopy of tall trees. he wouldn’t be tired as all hell, either. there was practically no sunlight down here, and for poor little marisol, that was a major problem.

see, he basically lived on sunlight. like a solar panel, in a way. he needs his energy from the sun to function, or else he’ll pass out dead where he stands. luckily for him, he had gathered enough energy to last him through this beastly trip through the godforsaken rainforest his father had oh-so-lovingly ushered him to directly off the tip of mount olympus. also luckily for him, he possessed a bird form.

thanks, dad. sunny thought to himself, rolling his eyes as he stepped over some heavy underbrush that wicked his body with even more drops of water. seriously, he was practically soaking. i mean, really, that was a lie, but to him, it one hundred percent felt like it. he’d been here for what felt like hours, trekking through this damned forest, and honestly, at this point he wanted to lay down and die.

though, what a pitiful fate that would be; he could see it now. ”marisol, demi-god of the sun, dead by humidity.” he would’ve found it funny if it wasn’t so accurate to his situation.

    again, thanks dad.

he took a lazy step over a rock in his path and began to hum to himself as he walked- may as well do something other than just walk, right? and besides, he had always loved music. up on mount olympus, he had quite enjoyed listening to the muses perform, and in fact learned many good musical lessons from them. they had taught him how to harness his talent and, thinking of it now, he definitely had some thanking to do when he returned to mount olympus. or, in this case, if he returned. because, as stated before, he was this close to keeling over.

as he continued to wander, heading hazily north, he zoned out, feeling himself begin to slip from consciousness. at some point, his mind simply left his body behind, moving onto places far away as his paws continued to lead him northwards.

around him was a gorgeous, picturesque field of pure green dotted by colorful wildflowers. he was no longer a domestic cat, but a human instead. one of immense beauty and radiance, to add. he walked beside another human, a tall man with a handsome smile and cozy hands perfect for holding.

he was humming the same tune as the one in reality, a song of a name sunny couldn’t quite recall. in reality, the cat chuckled. marisol remembered everything, and i mean everything. he could remember even the tiniest of things from all of his thousands of years alive and hundreds of forms he had taken during that time. but there were some things that had passed him by, though not due to the sands of time- there were some things marisol chose to let go of.

the other man’s name and the song they sang together walking through a meadow of serenity, feeling nothing but love for one another, just so happened to be two of those things. and sunny seemed to have forgotten why exactly as well. (actually, he hadn’t, but he was still determined to convince himself he had the strength to set those memories free.)

but that didn’t matter now. the other man had sat him down under the only tree in the middle of the giant expanse of emerald grass and held his hands, telling him he was pretty and that he loved him, no matter what may happen. sunny hadn’t given a response other than bursting into tears.

returning to reality, sunny chuckled again. he hadn’t cried in decades- how funny. or… sad, perhaps. he didn’t really care either way.

‘opening his eyes,’ in a way, marisol came to the realization that he had escaped the rainforest, and there was a soft breeze on his face. the only moisture he could feel now was the tide lapping at his feet in a steady rhythm. his strawberry pink lips morphed into a soft smile and he stopped walking for the first time in hours. he basked in the sunshine, feeling it sweep over his fur and bring with it the feeling of cleanliness. purity, even. oh, how he loved the sunshine- he had been waiting for this for so long. god bless his father’s sun.

finally sitting himself down by the water’s edge, feeling renewed, mari looked out at the land before him. there was a large mountain covered in the trees he had just crawled out of, and beside it even more jagged cliffs that were seemingly bearing civilization; houses along the cliff’s side, all piled atop one another in a menagerie of contrasting hues that, in any other situation, would have looked very disorienting to marisol. this time, however, he felt too happy to say anything negative about the scenery. god knows he would later, however. oh, just you wait.

marisol finally rose from his seat on the sand, briefly shaking himself out, and then began to walk once more toward the town. he decided it really was pretty, though sort of tiring to reach as he trekked the upward-winding path. still, that was alright with him. his legs no longer ached- though it could be annoying, there were many positive aspects to being a living solar panel.

when he finally reached the top, he took a seat once again, finally smelling people on the air. so, it seemed there really were other animals residing here. he just wondered if they were friendly and if, to add, they were accepting newcomers. he had been led here by the gods, and thus he must make it his home, or at least find a place to stay somewhere near it. this was all to fulfill his goal, whatever that was this time around.

when no one approached him, marisol coolly called, "anyone here?" then he rocked backward wearily, once more allowing the sunshine to wash over him. oh boy, how he had missed this.

soon, though, he would miss home again. he knew that.

    how unfortunate.

turning his attention to the figure that had made their way over to him, marisol smiled in a relaxed manner. this smile quickly changed into one of amusement as he realized the other wasn't quite looking at him. upon closer inspection, it became evident that the male was unable to see, and sunny immediately felt a bit guilty for finding his mistake comedic.

"yes, hello hoseok. i'm marisol, but you can call me sunny if you'd like." his voice was kind as he spoke, something somewhat unusual for the ball of sass that he was. but hey, what could he say? he was in a good mood now.

in fact, he was in such a good mood that he casually reached forward, setting one paw on either side of the male's face, and tilted it gently in his direction, so that now the winged feline was looking directly at him. speaking of the other's wings, sunny cooed lightly and added, "your wings are pretty." his tone was mostly sweet in nature, but also tinged with flirtation, as many of his statements tended to be. it was just how sunny was- couldn't really help it. just like he couldn't help touching the other without his permission. not that he was touching anything absolutely private and, in addition, doing it for the sake of being mean. really, he was just trying to help. plus, how was he supposed to know what the other was comfortable with?

again, he doesn't know much about people. which is... sad, really. really, really sad. especially in this case, when the sunclan leader wasn't in the mood to deal with his bullshit. if he had known either way, mari likely wouldn't care at all so, really, this entire situation was hopeless. how unfortunate.

seeing the other flinch away from his touch, marisol tilted his head out of curiosity. a bit of guilt crept into the feline's brain, but not without some fascination to go with it. before attempting to touch hoseok he had thought to himself about how unaware he was of said male's triggers, and suddenly he did. this was, somewhat frighteningly, nothing but interesting to mari.

"you got it." he responded to the other's first statement, offering a nod to the leader past a slight squint at the way he seemed to shrink away into the background, as if trying to make himself small. had he made him uncomfortable? he supposed that would make sense for what had just occurred, but, again, marisol was practically clueless about mortal behaviors. this was just another example.

soon, hoseok regained himself, standing up straight again, and, incredibly weirdly, mari smirked at this. really, he wasn't sure why, but it just so happened to be his first reaction to the sight. very, very odd, but somewhat predictable from sunny; as a person, he was nothing but strange. maybe it was because he found it funny how quickly the other got himself back under control, or perhaps because he had fallen out of his own control just as quickly only a few seconds before.

god, mortals were just so interesting.

listening to the other speak after recovering from that brief moment of silence, marisol hummed in subconscious acknowledgement of what had been said. "it's alright. and yes, would you mind telling me where i am? and, to add, if this place is accepting any newcomers? joiners, one might say?" he replied, speaking far more eloquently than he usually would for... some reason. then, upon seeing hoseok's fake smile, mari chuckled very, very softly. not because he was trying to hide it, simply because his throat was a bit tired. again, he truly didn't care whether or not he happened to hurt the other's feelings. he was just that awful. uh... woops, i guess.

listening to hoseok speak, it took sunny a few seconds to fully comprehend what he had said. and when he did, he burst into loud, booming laughter.

this laughter lasted at least thirty seconds, racking the feline's entire system as he crumpled to the ground, cackling like a hyena. as he rose from his place on the ground a little while later, there was saturation sparkling in his dark-colored eyes and he lifted one paw to wipe it away. "shit, sorry, but did you just say sunclan?" he asked, voice tinged with disbelief and overwhelming amazement.

the question turned out to be rhetorical, however, as mari quickly added, "jesus christ, that's fucking incredible... fuckin' thanks dad." he was, honestly, entirely awestruck that his father had led him here. of all places, the god of the sun had sent his son, demi-god of the sun, to a place named sunclan. it was so incredibly narcissistic and shallow that sunny couldn't help but be amazed. it seems his father had stooped to a new low.

finally marisol fully recovered, though not without a giant smile having broken out upon his face. "uh, yes, i would love to join. i feel i'm basically obligated to with a name like that." he said, tone not at all condescending despite everything that had come before. in fact, he still sounded completely bewildered and amused.

seriously... what had his father been thinking? seems he truly was dumb after all. mari couldn't say he was surprised.

sunny hadn't been in sunclan for a very long time at this point. he had been here for maybe a day, but likely something even less than that. he didn't quite know how the clans worked, as his father had never placed him in this particular world, but he had been doing his best to be out and about in order to figure them out just a little better.

one of the few things he understood about the clans, mostly because of his own experience, was that strangers would come to the borders of their lands and higher-ups would accept them into their group. in an attempt to be helpful, that was what mari was doing now. he was patrolling by the beach, staring out at the ocean more than he was actually doing what he had intended to. he couldn't help it- a part of him had always loved the ocean. hm... maybe he'd go swimming soon. or collect seashells. that sounded fun. hopefully it was allowed. (not that he really cared if it wasn't, he'd do it anyway.)

he had expected to find maybe one or two people if he got exceedingly lucky, standing up and focused on the task at hand like normal people. what he did find, however, was a creature with multiple tails laid out on the seashore, soaking in the sunlight with fur that appeared to shine platinum. curiosity and fascination overwhelmed marisol and he quickly made his way to the other's side, staring down at them with dark amber eyes that glimmered in the sunshine.

"hey there." he greeted a little bit too casually. he tilted his head down at the other, looking like a scientist staring at a new specimen. not because of some sadistic intrigue, but simply because he wanted to be friends with this stranger, as he did most strangers. hopefully the other would let him- he didn't like being held from his goals.

a smile lit marisol's face as the other went from awkwardly greeting him to panicking over where he was in the absolute cutest way possible. the kitsune's eyes were full of shock and worry and it reminded marisol of a confused child when their mommy leaves them behind in a public place. and then the other said 'oh gosh' in that same anxious, hasty tone and the it was set. marisol had to befriend this guy.

thus, he spoke up again, his tone soft and hospitable. "really, there's no rush. i swear we don't bite." he said, a high-pitched chuckle rolling off his tongue like liquid gold before he nonchalantly added, "although for me personally, i can make no promises on that claim." despite his words, sunny's expression did not change. if anything, he just looked even more innocent after speaking. name, being the poor innocent soul they were, likely would have no idea of his goal. mari would have to make them realize it himself.

welp, now name definitely wasn't wrong in saying they were done for.

sunny could easily understand why hoseok would be confused- he had pretty good reason to be. sunny's family was kinda sorta fucked, mostly because it was far too large for it own good. his father had been with many people and even tended to forget his own children's names. there was a reason marisol had been chosen as his messenger.

but anyways, that didn't matter now. hoseok didn't need to understand. no one did but poor, sorry sunny and the rest of his godforsaken relatives.

thus, mari returned to the present and replied, "thank you. i don't think i need anything for the moment..." he trailed off in thought for a few moments before continuing, "directions, maybe? are there houses around here, or something of the sort?" he inquired, humming curiously. he hopes there were places to stay around here- his ass needed sleep.

sunny watched name carefully after finishing speaking, still incredibly curious about them. they seemed relieved at first, and then seemed nothing at all. sunny had intended his words to be flirtatious, perhaps comedic even. he wondered if the other had felt threatened by his statement, and thus he was remaining silent. or maybe it was quite the opposite? mari supposed he would never know.

but soon, the kitsune was talking once again, appearing uncharacteristically confident at first. sunny couldn't help but giggle under his breath at the other's first sentence. he gave a joking salute and responded, "you got it cap'n."

then the colouredclanner continued, returning to their usual awkwardness. despite himself, mari tolerated the stranger's rambling, once again deeming it cute. once the kitsune had properly pronounced their name, mari tried it out on his tongue a few times.

"name. name. name..." he murmured, staring down at his paws before looking up at name again, this time with a cheerful grin on his face. "kind of an unfortunate name, huh?"

sunny could definitely relate to name's fear of betrayal. he had been hurt many times before, particularly in a far-off time he had blocked from his mind with a protective barrier guarding the things he would no longer allow to break him as they had before. a far-off time featuring the only person- a mortal, more specifically- marisol had ever allowed himself to fall in love with. a time when all was bright and sunny wasn't the nihilistic, suicidal creature he had become.

god... can you tell just how badly that time crashed and burned?

marisol didn't want to think about it. the barrier between his memories existed for a reason. he wouldn't let himself crumble in front of this stranger, no matter how kind they seemed and/or cute they were. again, just like name, mari was terrified of being betrayed.

so he returned to the present, wall going back up in his brain, and the usual cheery glint in his eyes returning. he couldn't help but linger on the way the kitsune laughed. softly, sweetly... and maturely too, somehow. it was, oddly, the least 'cute' thing about the colouredclanner- it had made its way up the list it just so happened to create by its existence alone sunny silently titled the 'attractive list.' not adorable. attractive. there was a difference. probably.

when name asked marisol to introduce himself, his smile grew wider. ah, yes. how could he have forgotten something so simple? he reckoned he had gotten caught up in the stranger's unknowing allure. sunny would've been disappointed in himself for this if not for the fact that he really didn't give a shit about anything nowadays. plus, name was too precious an opportunity to pass up; who fucking cared that sunny let himself loosen up a bit? he was a busy, busy man, and that was very, very stressful. he had the right to a bit of peace spent with a total cutie.

"oh, sorry about that. name's marisol. i'd prefer you call me mari or sunny, though." or baby. that would work too. sunny thought to himself, only a tiny tiny tiny amount ashamed of said thought. again, he deserved to loosen up a tad. it was only fair. he hadn't asked to be his dad's mailman. why not let him have some fun?

despite everything, marisol was an extrovert. he always had been, even after the greatest betrayal he'd ever suffered all those millennia ago. even after losing the only trust he ever possessed for mankind, he loved to make friends and meet new people, even if they hated him (which, in all honesty, wasn't very rare).

this was just another example of that extroverted nature of his coming to light. he stood out in a small courtyard in town, humming to himself thoughtfully as he hopped up onto an empty birdbath and called out, "would anyone care to meet me?" he sounded a bit condescending, as per usual, and a small part of him hoped that wouldn't scare his new clanmates away. i mean, really, he didn't care all that much if he did, but he was doing this to meet new people, not to awkwardly stand here alone for a good thirty minutes.

but, unfortunately for him, he would have to stand there alone for a little while, awaiting visitors. thus he continued to hum, looking out at the ocean as he waited. at least if he scared anyone away, he wouldn't see them leave.

all his life, marisol had been constantly asking himself what he was doing. for the most part, he wasn't to blame for this, but it still got to him every time he let himself consider it. in the end, he was nothing but his father's messenger, out doing his bidding even when he had no clue what the specifics were every single time. he had tried to get out of it many times before- the scars on his chest proved this- but each time, his father would drag him back and keep him going, all because he could find no one else. it was frustrating for mari, as one may easily suspect.

so now that he was in a new place surrounded by people that were seemingly nice enough to him, he decided to take this opportunity to unwind. he planned to make some friends, maybe (hopefully) get a good fuck-buddy, perhaps a romantic partner or two... really, he was just taking all his liberties at the moment. his father hadn't said anything to him recently, so mari supposed it wasn't a big deal.

tonight, though, he was looking for some me-time (and, admittedly, any messages from his 'dearly beloved' father). he had made his way up to sunclan outlook, which was uncharacteristically empty at this time of day. in fact, it was pitch-black out, the stars only beginning to rise in the sky alongside the wide ivory moon. it was a mellow temperature- oddly warm- as is to be expected from a sunclan that was nearing summertime. marisol had taken a seat on the very edge of the cliffs, looking out at the territory. it was surprisingly soothing to hear the ocean's nighttime tides wash back and forth across the shore, but this was quickly contrasted by mari's internal stresses about searching for fireflies. his father hadn't sent him any messages yet, so marisol was forced to wait on edge for them to finally show up.

but, really, he hoped they wouldn't. he really, really did.

mari could strongly relate to suga's 'metaphorical liquid' flood. he had been alive for thousands and thousands of years, though in different forms, and in some cruel fate, he remembered every single one of those forms and the memories of their lifetimes. the only things he ever forgot were those memories he chose to let go off. those were very few in number, but extremely painful for him to recall.

so he pushed them out of his brain, telling himself they were long gone when, in reality, they had made themselves a little shelter in the very back of his mind, feeding off his thoughts of that time in a vampiric manner. thoughts of that time when he was happy. when he was loved. that time when, somehow, he had made the mistake of falling for a mortal and suffered the consequences; he hasn't trusted humans since.

but that didn't matter now, sunny reminded himself. he pushed those thoughts back once again, and they returned home to that secret place behind his eyes, silent and waiting for their next chance to slip away. marisol returned to gazing out into the world before him, quietly worrying that he had missed the fireflies- god, if that happened his dad would kill him. (how amazing would that be?) and lord knows marisol didn't want that.

suddenly, mari heard a voice from near him and he turned toward the sound. there he saw someone he had never come across before, but seemed far too comfortable to be new like he was. he assumed the other was an older member of sunclan. not that really mattered.

all that mattered was that wow this guy was hot. sunny wasn't sure what had come over him, but as soon as the other spoke, a flame lit inside him and he was smiling coyly. "nothing now." he responded to the winged cat's first inquiry. subconsciously, mari looked the male up and down, studying every one of his physical attributes with pure curiosity in his amber orbs. (and maybe a little lust. we don't talk about it.)

at the feline's introduction, marisol nodded his head in acknowledgement and replied sweetly, "marisol. or sunny, if you'd like." or, really, anything you want. i can't mind it with a face like that. he thought, chuckling at his own mind as he fell silent, head hanging slightly as he shook it at himself. christ, what was wrong with him?

answer? many things. many, many things.

marisol had to admit, he quite liked suga as well. the other was quite similar to him, in personality anyway. and all those who say 'opposites attract' couldn't be more wrong in this particular situation. mari was admittedly a bit vain, so he couldn't help being drawn to those like him. and suga? suga shared his wit, his flirtation, his immortality, even. not that mari was aware of that last one but... still. you get the gist.

hearing the winged feline's voice come from behind him, marisol turned around to look over his shoulder curiously, the same old coy smile from before appearing on his maw once again. he tilted his head at suga's starting words, waiting for a follow-up. and when it came, he was honestly surprised, but nonetheless flattered and amused.

"well, someone's very forward." he said, turning all the way around to face the ex-leader with a warm grin still gracing his features. "i can appreciate that." he added, laughing softly. and, really, he could- he had found suga attractive as soon as they'd met, and this was only another welcomed addition to that attraction. nothing he could do about it, really. not that he planned to anytime soon, of course. why in god's name would he do that? that would only ruin the fun. and sunny sure as hell hadn't had his fix yet.
