The first thing he noticed was the scent. The Ruins, intermingled with the smell of blood. The lion immediately set off to find the source, and he came to a sudden stop as he figured out exactly who it was. It took a second before he pushed himself forward, stopping a few steps in front of her. "Vale, wait here, alright? I'm going to get help for you." He turned away, immediately searching out ATHANASIUS E.
or Candela
to bring them back to look over Vale.

Gabriel was used to hearing people at his door. He tended to be needed often enough for it to become commonplace, though he had to admit, joiners were not often the ones who requested his presence. When the sound of the vaguely familiar voice of the new Hyperian came through the door, Eugene had popped his head up, chirping loudly to grab Gabe's attention and pull him from his rest. Otto and Brendon were distracted, the food more important to them than the unfamiliar sound.
The lion stood, walking over tot eh door and pushing it open. A tired smile was on his face as he did so, and he spoke up as soon as the door was no longer between them. "Yes, I remember. Is there something you need, Bastet?" he asked, warm and kind despite the lingering signs of being awoken only moments before. -

Having descended from his spot, he watched as Persephone quickly took his spot and called out to give out weekly tasks. His lips pulled up into a slight smile before it faded, and he walked over to stand nearby. "I'd like a task, Pers," he requested, awaiting whatever his daughter might give him.

Gabriel had always enjoyed heading over to the other islands, simply to get some time to himself. As time went on, this became less for himself, and more to make sure that his home would stay safe. After the dragon that had attacked Hyperia under Aleksei's reign, he had started to venture to the other island regularly to make sure there was nothing else that could threaten them, and the Ruins' attack only strengthened that resolve, with how easily they managed to get into their territory. He alternated which island he visited by day, and today he would be visiting the forest of clouds that was located to the north of the main island.
It didn't take long to get there, especially considering he had chosen to fly. The lion touched down on the ground, wings folding up as he began to walk. It was difficult to navigate, but he had managed before, and he would again. The more time one spent in there, the easier it was to figure out how to get around despite the thick disorienting fog that always lingered among the trees. It wasn't that way for all, however as he would soon come to see. As he was walking, the distinct scent of a dead creature filled the air. They clearly originated from the islands, as there was no lingering smell of any other group, so he ruled out any foul play, but made his way towards it nonetheless.
When he came across the creature, it was clear that what had taken her was not violence, but becoming lost in the fog and being unable to find food for herself. The body couldn't be more than a day or so old, and as he looked over it, a nest nearby caught his eye. He wandered closer, to find only one egg remained. There were the remains of a few eggs that had clearly hatched, though he had no idea what might have happened afterwards. One egg remained, and it occurred to him that this would be hatching soon, as well. Could he really leave it here, where the child might not survive? No, he decided, and spread his wings once more, setting off for camp to retrieve a basket.
He returned quickly, landing nearby. He looked around, searching for the nest he had found, and rediscovered it within a few minutes. He carefully slid the egg into the basket, careful not to jostle it too much, before he turned away to head back towards the main island. He made the decision to walk, not wanting to risk what might happen if he flew and ended up dropping the basket by mistake. As he arrived back in the village, he quickly moved towards his home, pushing open the door and placing down the basket. He'd need to get a fire going to keep the egg warm until it hatched; it was just a matter of figuring out how to do that, now.

He shook his head, smile still strong. "It's alright, Bastet. I don't mind. I'm here to help." He fell quiet, waiting until she spoke up again to ask her question. He listened attentively, noticing her nervousness but writing it off. It was most likely because of the supposed mistake, though he truly wasn't bothered by it, so he wouldn't bring it up. There was no need to make her more bothered over it, right? When she finished her question, he stepped outside, making sure the door shut behind him. If the raptors ran out now, who knew where they might end up in the middle of the night.
"There's no need for that, unless you'd prefer to. Though I will suggest, perhaps you could place something outside your hut to help you find it? I did the same myself, when I first moved in here. Something I would notice, but others wouldn't. It made things easier for me while I was still getting settled," he said as he began walking, reminding himself of where he had led her before. The tactic wasn't one that worked for everyone, but it had worked for him, so he might as well pass it on, right? After a few more moments, he came to a stop in front of a vacant hut. "This should be the one... if you'd like, I could help you to get settled in and personalize it, before you head to sleep for the night?"
-
As he heard steps behind him, his head turned, curious to see who had followed him. When he saw it was Aphrodite, he offered her a smile, stepping aside to let her get a look at the egg. She asked a question, and Persephone was joining them before long. He made a sound between a sigh and a laugh at her comment, shaking his head. "Of course not," he said. Just as she felt, as did he. He couldn't bear the thought of killing something that was so similar to creatures that he'd raised from birth, or even the chance of it.
"I found an empty nest. It couldn't have been more than a day that it was left alone, but the other eggs were hatched and the mother was... gone." He still spoke gently around Aphrodite, despite the things she'd seen. She was young, and as such, it felt wrong to speak about death so blatantly in front of here, even though he knew she understood. "I'd like to try to hatch it, if I can. I just need to find a way to get a fire going, to keep it warm."

Once again, the lion found himself at the border of the Dark Dynasty. Three times in the past, conversations had begun to discuss the possibility of an alliance, but each time, they had gone nowhere. The conversation tapered off, and no decision was made. So, once again, Gabriel was here. He sat himself down at the border, allowing himself some time to rest as he awaited the arrival of anyone he could speak to in order to request the presence of a leader. He believed they had two now if he wasn't mistaken; perhaps he would receive an answer this time around. At this point, he even preferred a denial, if it meant that he didn't expect an answer that never came.

When Persephone had told him she wanted him to come to her home, he'd been slightly unsettled. Not enough to dissuade him from going, but it made him curious; why did she want him to come there? He didn't mind, of course, but it wasn't something she made a habit of doing, and he didn't like to intrude. Despite his hesitance, he would never say no to his daughter when there was something she wanted unless it put someone at risk. Since that wasn't the case here, he pushed away the negative thoughts. If something were wrong, she'd tell him, outright. There was no need to worry. Whatever she wanted to see him for, he was sure it was something good.
He knocked on the door, and it wasn't long before he heard sounds from inside of her moving about. A few moments passed before the door opened, and he offered a smile, moving forward to give his daughter a nuzzle before she began leading him through the hut. The small talk made him even more nervous as he conversed with her; it only seemed to be putting something off, and when she stopped at a door, he became even more confused. He didn't let himself react yet. There was no way of knowing what was going on until she actually told him, so he shouldn't jump to conclusions. As she opened the door and allowed him to look inside, however, his reservations disappeared.
His eyes immediately were drawn to the bed, where the cluster of children were safe from harm, protected by the home and their mothers. The expression on his face softened at once as he gazed at them, exhaling quietly as the corners of his mouth turned up. He allowed himself to remain for a few moments before he looked over at Persephone, brushing his muzzle against the top of her head.
"Congratulations, Percy," he said, toning back the excitement in his voice to a warm happiness. "I'm happy for you two. Do they have names?" He wouldn't want to refer to them without them if they did, but he'd understand if they hadn't yet. Their family had a history of misfortune when it came to children. He wouldn't blame her if she was scared to do so.
-
As Gabriel heard the unfamiliar shout of a child, his head lifted slightly, attention drawn away from his current task as he changed his direction. He had been hunting, intending on bringing some food back to camp as winter was quickly getting into its colder days, but joiners always took priority for him. The lion didn't speak as he arrived, seeing as Spiritline seemed to have that covered, but came to stand silently alongside him as he awaited the feline's answer.
-
During his time here, Gabriel hadn't grown close to many. Those that had had all disappeared at this point, leaving him to take care of those who he barely knew and yet would trust with his life, should it come down to it. Of course, he knew this wouldn't be one of those times. Even if he didn't know Everett very well, he did recognize him, however slightly. The male wandered closer, offering a smile and a small nod of acknowledgement to the serval. "As Athanasius said, welcome back. It's good to see you again."

[ this was meant to take place as the beginning of december though i was unable to get it up in time, but the thread still takes place as the beginning of december! ]
In his time here on the Floating Archipelago, Gabriel had seen some interesting things. With the magic that was inherent in the islands, it was to be expected that strange happenings would occur. The islands themselves were held aloft in the sky despite the fact that it shouldn't be possible, and though it intrigued him, he had never found a reason for it past the obvious one of magic. Still, it served to show that he was used to the strangeness that came with living here. It was a daily thing, and not much surprised him anymore.
One of the few things that might, however, was awakening to a soft glow illuminating the otherwise dark hut he lived in. He blinked away the bleariness in his eyes, head turning back and forth once in order to find the source. He was ready to fight, if need be, but as he found himself waking more, it occurred to him that he shouldn't be worried about needing to defend himself. Rather than an enemy standing over him, the three ever-so-familiar raptors stood by the door, chirping away and insisting on heading outside. Each one had a faint glow emanating from them; a soft yellow following the pattern on Brendon's back, a purple coming forth from the stripes on Otto's legs, and red from the majority of Eugene's body.
Confusion was his first reaction, but it seemed they understood this, even if he didn't. Rather than go back to sleep, the lion pulled himself to his feet, standing and pushing the door open. The three were quick to dart out the door and Gabriel's gaze fell on the egg, sitting by the embers of the fire that he had kept going in hopes that the egg would soon hatch. It, too, was faintly flowing, though not nearly to the extent of the three raptors that had so quickly abandoned the hut. It gave him hope that whatever was inside was still alive, even if just a bit. Turning away, he finally followed the three raptors.
They didn't do much, other than immediately grow rowdy as they began to roughhouse. After a few moments, his gaze turned upwards, moments after he saw Brendon's do the same. What he saw was beautiful; lights, not unlike the ones he remembered from before Agrelos, lit up the night sky, dancing slowly around as colors shifted above. A soft hum escaped him as the corners of his lips twitched upwards into a smile. It was always interesting to see some of the secrets that the islands he called his home still held, despite the length of time he had already spent here.

"If that's what you would like to do, you've already done it," Gabriel said, approaching the group that had gathered to greet this new member of the tribe. A warm smile spread across his features as he continued, "Joining is not difficult here. All you need is to give your name, state your intention to join, and give no reason for us to turn you away. You seem to have met all of the criteria, Botan." He had heard the name as he listened in on the conversation during his approach, and felt that it would be best to address the other my name. "Welcome to Hyperia. My name is Gabriel Seraphinus, it's a pleasure to meet you." A short introduction, but it got across what needed to be said.
-
Nearly a week had passed since Gabriel had first found the large egg in the abandoned nest, and Gabriel was close to losing hope. Aside from the slight glow that still shone from the gold patterning on the otherwise black egg, there had been nearly no sign of any life inside. With the others clearly having hatched sooner given the remains that had been in the nest, he was beginning to think that whatever might have been in it was unable to survive until he had found it and he was simply tending to a lost cause.
Fortunately for him, that was not the case. As he returned to his hut from a patrol of the borders, accompanied by Eugene, Brendon, and Otto, he came back to the familiar, high-pitched chirps of a young raptor that had recently hatched. He pushed the door open, wings flared slightly in reaction to his anticipation as he entered his home. Sitting on the ground was a mostly black raptor, with gold accents and feathers, with the slight glow that was becoming just as normal to him as everything else about the islands. The second thing he noticed was the size; this child was much larger than the others had been when they had hatched. Gabriel walked over, carefully nudging the baby to its feet as Eugene darted off, hopefully to retrieve something for the baby to eat.
"Hello, Tyler," he said, a slight hum to his voice. "Pleased to meet you." The raptors weren't sentient, he knew, but he couldn't help the surge of protectiveness that went through him as he gave him a name. It was the same every time; he'd protect them just as fiercely as he would his family, always.
-
With Tyler having recently hatched, Gabriel felt now was a better time than any to get to work on his weekly task that Persephone had given him. She had requested that he build a home for the raptors; he saw her point, of course, as he knew with so many, they couldn't share his hut forever. It would be better for them and for him if they could come and go without much fuss, though he couldn't help that he wanted to keep them close. His family was mostly gone, but they were still here, and weren't they his family too? At least he could protect them.
Still, he knew it wasn't right of him to make things more difficult for him and for them, even if it didn't cause anyone any harm. Besides, perhaps this could help anyone else, as well as the free-roaming raptors that remained after those that had hatched them disappeared from Hyperia. Athanasius was still around with Ocean, as was Aphrodite with Alabaster and Persephone with Medusa. That left Olivia's and Aiden's without homes, however, and that didn't sit right to him.
He had gotten to work on putting up posts in the style of a fence around the back and side of a hut, with an open space where they could come and go. The hut was easy to get in and out of, with no door as to no obstruct their ability to enter and exit. There were spaces for them all to sleep and a firepit, if they ever needed warmth. Food was readily available, as it always was, and clean water was provided so they wouldn't have to venture out into the territory in search of water to drink if they didn't want to. Hopefully it would make things easier for him and for them, and for anyone else who still had a raptor by their side.
-
As he heard Aphrodite approach, he turned his head to look at her, offering a smile as he began to relax. His family had that effect on him; he always would feel better when they were around. Still, there was much to be done. He pauses in his work, nearly done, but knowing it would be alright to take a break. "I'm putting together a place for the raptors, for any of them that choose to live here. They need a place where they can come and go, and Persephone suggested that I create a home for them, so I'm doing just that," he explained to her, stepping away from the posts as he finally turned to look at her fully.
-
He turned his head, expecting to see Eugene, but instead found Athanasius and Ocean standing nearby, the kitsune keeping their distance while their raptor was up close and personal. He hushed Brendon as he chirped loudly, seemingly a warning to the blue dinosaur that got too close for the other's comfort. Once he backed off, Gabriel returned his attention to Athanasius, beginning with, "Apologies." Brendon had always been very protective of younger raptors, and it seemed this time was no different.
"I found an empty nest, with only broken shells in it alongside his egg. What I assume was the mother had died, and I didn't feel right leaving him there to follow in the same path," the lion explained, feathers fluffing up slightly as he spoke. Seconds after he finished speaking, his daughter was joining them, and he smiled as she admired the new addition to his group. He simply made a sound of agreement, taking a step back as Tyler made his first step forward, towards Aphrodite. Tyler trilled loudly towards her, similar to the sounds Eugene made when he was younger, though deeper in pitch. He attempted to rub his head against her in a nuzzle, clearly enjoying her attention on him.

These children are part of two litters between Gabriel Seraphinus and Kady Keyper. Both litters were loved deeply by both parents, and they both would have been very present in the lives of their children up until Kady's death; Gabriel remains a present and loving figure in their lives to this day. In terms of relations, Gabriel is the current co-leader of Hyperian Isles, while Kady is an ex-leader of the same group. Their daughter, Persephone, is a former vice-leader and their other daughter, Aphrodite, is the current deputy.
In addition to this family, these children have a sister named Hestia (part of the second litter). They also have three uncles; Michael, Lucifer, and Raphael. They have only met Michael and Lucifer.
NOTES/RULES
