Viceroy padded at a casual pace through the forest, stopping in a dusty clearing to lap from a puddle of water. catching the scents of other cats, he purred softly to himself. it had been quite some time since he had met a friendly loner in these parts.

Spandau eventually grew tired of watching his she-cat sleep, and decided to fetch some fresh kill for when she awoke. hauling himself up the side of the ravine, he set out to hunt for prey. It didnt take him long to catch a few small mice and, with a small amount of difficulty, a bird. Arriving at camp, he noticed the sun had start to set. reaching the medicine den, he dropped the plumpest of his mice near her nest and gently lapped at her face to wake her.
-
his whiskers twitched with amusement. "sorry to startle you," he purred softly. "i brought you something to eat, and the herbs from Noel." (having seen Noel at the fresh kill pile, he had taken the herbs for her while she chatted to her companions.) he watched as she settled slightly, but could still sense her nervousness. "night is setting in and there isn't enough moss around right now to make you a nest," he half-lied with a purr. "you may have to share a den with me."
-
"eat up," he encouraged, with a warm grin. he studied her closely for a second, and thought how unusually intriguing she was. he felt drawn to her.
-
"sure." he stepped closer, sitting down beside her so their pelts touched. he leant down to take a bite, then nudged it back to her. he slowly curled his tail around her.
-
finishing the last bite, he turned to face her. "so tell me about yourself," he requested. usually a tom who played hard to get and rarely chased after she-cats, he surprised himself at how hard he was trying to appear friendly and likeable.
-
he nodded. "there's not much to know about me really. but stick around and you might learn a thing or two." getting to his paws, he crossed to the pile of herbs sitting nearby. "would you like me to fetch Noel, or can you do it yourself?"
-
"some she-cat Spandau picked up earlier," she meowed with a smirk. she picked a piece of prey from the pile and padded over to her favourite spot in the clearing, benath a tree growing precariously from the side of the ravine. sitting down to eat, she beckoned Alais with a flick of her tail. "care to join me?"
Spandau helped to chew the herbs into a pulp, and spread them on the parts his companion couldn't reach.
